The symbol of Jashin is also carved into his forehead, which is part of the reason he hides his face under a hood. There are many scars on his wrist from the ritual he believes he must perform each night, which also has to do with the symbol of Jashin on his face. The boy stands at 5'3 and weighs 100 pounds. His usual attire includes a black cloak with white trim and the hood up, black pants, and black gloves.
Character's Mental Description: Togoku is the one that everyone sees as the quiet boy which doesn't talk to other people often. But if they were to ever approach him, they would learn that he is actually rather happy and capable of communicating without much difficulty. This is his guise to hide his true thoughts or feelings he has about the one he is speaking to. His Jashinist beliefs leads him to want to kill someone in the name of his lord, but he knows there are ninja far more powerful in this village that could stop him with ease. What is the point of immortality if you end up getting yourself killed?
Character History (Plus Kinjutsu APP for Jashinism if that's allowed){WC:2302}: This is the tale of a boy who's life has been one full of pain, death, and a god who has led him down the path to immortality...
Fifteen years ago, there was a man who was a devout follower of the God of Destruction, Jashin. His only goal in life was to wreak havoc in his lord's name, so that he may be blessed with immortality for his religious deeds. He traveled the land in search of small caravans, which he believed to be the perfect sacrifice for his God. When there was no caravan to be destroyed, the occasional lone traveler worked as well, but was no where near as satisfying as sending the souls of an entire village to Jashin. There was no greater honor than being preserved forever in his realm after all, aside from being the one allowing the unholy denizens of the land to be there in the first place. Anyways, this man's only purpose in life was to go from village to village and kill anyone he found living there, thus pleasing the god of destruction. However, there was a caravan that was different from all the rest. As the man devoured the blood of everyone he came across, only to free their souls from the prison they were trapped in, he came across someone who he could not kill. Not because of their strength, but because of their faith. Upon tasting the sweet red nectar of this woman's body, he found that there was no change in his senses. No rush, or urge to kill her so that she may be judged by Jashin. He knew this could only mean one thing... Out of all the people he'd encountered in his life, there had only been one other Jashinist he's come across, and that was the one that showed him the error of his ways, and taught him how he could be reborn in the blood of the unholy. But now there was another.
This woman, the one that would later become the mother of Togoku, knew what was going on the moment she saw the man devouring the blood of her family and friends. She knew that all the time she spent holding back so that she could properly disguise herself from the world, was finally beginning to pay off. It was almost love at first sight for the two, after all, how else could they find love if not in another Jashinist? They spent the next year bringing judgment to the people of lightning country, and eventually, the woman became pregnant. Much to their displeasure, this meant that they would need to stop their pilgrimage, and give what was sure to be their child of destruction time to develop in its mother's womb. They set up residence in a small cave located in the Spine of the World, for they knew they would not be disturbed there, and waited the long nine months before their child was born. They named their new baby boy Togoku, meaning imprisoned, and meant to change his name later on. After all, how could one that could not kill in the name of Jashin be considered free? In his current state, the boy was no better than a prisoner shackled to a cold stone wall. Even at an early age, their child showed signs of strength. He was able to walk at the young age of 7 months, and began talking in choppy sentences at a year and a half. They knew this boy was born to serve Jashin, which was to be expected of the spawn of two of his followers.
By the age of three, Togoku underwent an experience that would be something he, and his parents, would never forget. During one of the many lessons that he sat through, teaching him the basics of fighting or learning different phrases meant to praise their lord, the boy fell down in pain. At first, his parents believed that his body may have given out, which would have been awful for them. How could their carnage continue if they had no legacy? But they soon learned that this pain was not the pain of death, but the pain of opportunity. After a few minutes of Togoku screaming for aid from his lord Jashin, his own bones began sprouting out of different points on his body. Several fingers from his hand, parts of his spine from his back. It was clearly a blessing from their god, a sign that this boy was destined for greatness. Or so they believed, the truth was that his mother had distant relatives from the Kaguya clan, and that the boy was lucky (or unlucky) enough to awaken the recessive genes of this powerful bloodline. To them, however, it simply meant that this boy was not only meant to be a follower of their lord, but a weapon for him to use as he sees fit. Truly, they could not have been blessed more by their lord. They were granted immortality, gifted what would surely be a weapon for their god, and allowed to hone this weapon to be sure it could carry out whatever tasks it is given.
The years went by, and at the tender age of 7, Togoku's parents decided it was time for him to experience his first purging. They had already chosen the spot, and the boy was already proficient enough at using his Kaguya abilities that he could hold his own, so the only things left to do were kill the unholy and praise Jashin after the carnage takes place. His parents were the first to rush in, causing several explosions and finishing off several travelers before they gave Togoku the signal to rush in after them. The first person he saw was a boy around his age, who he managed to corner. As any child filled with innocence would, Togoku was hesitant to make any moves at first. He knew the boy was to afraid to make any moves, but was he sure he wanted to do this? Simply the thought of not carrying through with his duty was enough to make the boy gag. His mind set quickly changed, this boy needed him. It wasn't something that was morally wrong. The boy was simply trapped in a cage created by those that came before him, one that he was unable to free himself from with out assistance from the apostles of Jashin. Yes, there was only one right thing to do, and that was kill him before he could suffer any longer. Togoku forced a piece of his bone from his flesh, separating it completely as the boy in front of him blocked his eyes from the awful sight he nearly witnessed. The Kaguya approached the boy and cut his arm with the blade of bone, licking the blood from the blade. All of the training prior to this seemed to work. He could now sense the boy. But not only sense him, he could feel him. Evey reluctant breath he took, the fear he was experiencing, the pain on his arm that was just cut. It was almost as if they were connected, almost as if he was supposed to feel the pain of the guilty to properly free their souls. Now knowing how the boy felt, Togoku finished him off by piercing his skull. The sight of death was no longer something that made the boy uncomfortable, but something that was necessary for people to be free.
Togoku joined his parents in the glorious chaos that ensued after his first kill, but it quickly ended. Both of his parents were seemed deeply saddened by that fact, but he was too busy thinking about another topic to really care. This topic was: what is the true reason that their lord Jashin grants them eternal life? Some may think it is a blessing, gifted to them in return for carrying out their duty. But was that really the reason? His parents always spoke of how they were freeing the souls of the unholy so that they may be reborn in the sea of blood. This was true to even him, but since that's the case, maybe immortality is more of a curse? One placed upon Jashin's followers so that he can be sure they will always serve him, or face the pain of death. After all, there is clearly a lack of true believers in this world, so why not keep the ones that do believe around so that they can continue doing what is needed? His thoughts were put on hold, as his parents called him to help with disposing of the evidence. They knew that they would soon be found out if they left the bodies and carts where they were, and made sure to burn the wood and bury the bodies deep in the closest forest. If they were ever approached, they made their best effort to act as if they were simply staying in the woods for the night, or kill the one questioning them.
After Togoku was introduced to the glory of chaos and destruction, his parents allowed him to participate in every purging in the future. This pleased the boy; for the more people he saved, the closer he could get to granting the rest of Jashin's followers rest, enveloped by the sea of blood. After each purge, the trio was to recite this phrase after slitting their wrists and offering their blood to Jashin, "Gratias tibi ago, Domine Jashin, quod nos pascere dignatus interitum." The boy has never known what this meant, but his parents assured him he would know when the time came. At the very least, he knew that it was to praise their lord.
Another few years past, and the Kaguya boy was now 11. His parents and himself continued their pilgrimage through lightning country, purging whatever bodies they came across. For the most part, everything was normal, but there was something that threw him off... His parents almost seemed like they were excited about something.. Sure, they got excited about being able to destroy caravans in the name of Jashin, but this was different. The boy didn't know what the thing they were looking forward to was, till he found himself overlooking a small village. This was insane, they were actually about to free an entire village? He was excited, the most they'd ever been able to free at one time was 10 people, any more would've gotten them caught. The excitement the boy felt prevented him from seeing reason. If he wasn't so happy about saving all these people, he may have tried to convince his parents that they would be found, that they couldn't burn an entire village to the ground without being seen. But he rushed in with them, believing that they could do it.
This purge was the same as any other, they went in killed every person they found, and left. The only difference was that they couldn't just dismantle and burn the buildings in the woods, so the only thing they could do was bury the bodies as best they could. Upon leaving the village, his parents brought him back to the cave where he was born. They said that this is where they would hide for the time being, at least until they were sure that it was safe to leave. But even the place he was raised wasn't safe enough to hide... It only took a few days for the shinobi of cloud to track them down. As the trio slept, the ones sent to find them identified the two adults as the culprits, due to the symbol carved into their backs, and killed them on the spot. Togoku, however, was taken with them. This was against his will of course, but he knew why. His parents said that he could not have the symbol of Jashin with him forever until he had mastered all of the rituals. And however sad he may have been about his parents' death, he knew that it was the will of Jashin alone that kept him alive. Perhaps his parents had outlived their usefulness, and he was being taken to a place where he could kill enough for three people, but at the same time, perhaps he had outlived his usefulness as well. On the journey back to the village, the shinobi that captured him told him that his parents were likely killed when his village was raided, and since he was able to use chakra he was being taken back to the village to become a shinobi as well. Togoku was unsure how they could tell what he was capable of, but it seemed he would be kept alive for now.
When they reached the village, he was made to go through several tests to make sure he was not sick in any way, then he was sent to this "academy" where he would be taught the ways of the shinobi. The boy knew that if he made any attempt at taking someone's life within the village, he would quickly be killed. So he was unable to kill anyone for Jashin during his years at the academy. And even though he was meant to learn things like he was told, his pre-existing intelligence and skill got him through it all with relative ease. This was surprising to most of his teachers, after all, they heard where he came from and assumed that he would've had no way to train himself to use chakra there. But this was just what everyone believed, and it would be better for the boy if they believed that a ninja perished in the village, rather than having them found out about his true origins.
