Appearance:
Joukuu has been through many different looks in his eighteen years of life. It has most recently changed from his long extended trip out into the rest of the world. First off traveling from the coldest village in the shinobi world, to probably the hottest country in the shinobi world as altered the look of this eighteen year old young male. First off, he no longer wears the black muted colors he did during his more ‘introverted’ days. In fact most of those cloths were left somewhere in the wind country when Joukuu got too tired of carrying those insolated cotton cloths. In turn, Joukuu seemed to have gone native in his attire.
This native wear started with a changing of his shirt. Joukuu use to sport a large baggy black t-shirt that most trainees would wear during their first patrols. When he got into the deserts of the Wind country, Joukuu found that this heavy insolated cotton was keeping to much heat in and would cause him to die if he didn’t change. Stumbling into a bazaar, Joukuu found a vender whom was dealing ‘the finest cloths in the whole nation.’ As Joukuu looked over the cloths, he took a fancy to a simple light t-shirt. This t-shirt was a bright yellow which Joukuu was told was called “Lightning Yellow.” Buying a fair amount of them, Joukuu shed his shirt and put on this new color t-shirt. This was followed by buying a matching leather jacket. This jacket Joukuu felt that it would be perfect for both the breezy weather of the deserts, and the cold icy temperature of the mountains in which he stayed in. Finally, Joukuu was persuaded to buy a silk scarf that is royal purple in color. At first he was unsure if he should wear it, but it slowly grew on him, and now he goes nowhere without it. He changed his heavy cream color pants out for a snow white pair of khaki’s that were also light and breathable. These entire extremely light desert cloths raise the question, what will the sandy blond shinobi do in the blizzards and cold weather of the mountain. The answer was simple for Joukuu, and that was to wear insolated clothing such as long johns. Once Joukuu returned to his village, he bought multiple pairs of long that are a dull grey. These pair of cloths goes under the rest of Joukuu’s cloths keeping him all warm and safe from the cold weather of the mountains.
Those cloths though cannot hide the wounds that were inflicted on his body. The first wound he has is probably the most protected. On his left bicep and triceps, the teenager has a smooth scar from a sword. A sword his father wielded against him the first time he was introduced to his Nanjirou heritage. This scar which happened seven years ago, is covered not only by the insolated undershirt, lightning yellow t-shirt, and black leather jacket, but also by the Kumogakure shinobi emblem which is tied tightly around the inside of his bicep protecting the mark his father made on him. The second wound is a deep fresher smooth cut that is cut straight across the young man’s chest. To Joukuu, this is the most significant mark on his body as it came from an indefensible strike his father made on him when he was nursing his third wound. This wound is on the outside of his right thigh. It is more of a puncture mark than anything else; it has scarred over rather poorly due to the new medical trainee who had been too scared because of the amount of blood Joukuu had lost to stitch over the puncture with any sort of precision. The final scar on Joukuu’s body is on his lower abdomen. This wound also looked to be fatal. The dark patch of skin, which came from being stabbed by a kunai, lies directly on the part of the body where the liver and kidneys are. Stabbed during a siege of the Toushin complex in the mountains, Joukuu drank the blood of his friend whose blood seemed to have some magical quality to it as it healed the wound. Unlike the rest of the scars on Joukuu’s body, this one is smoother than really the rest of his whole body. It also is cooler than the rest of this body as well. Finally, the most recent addition to his body markings is the curse seal known as the Heaven seal. Gained from his tour across the world, Joukuu got it from a man who he really did not know (Minamoto Taro) though he met on a ferry into the Water country. This curse seal is on the lower part of his neck near his right collarbone. It is almost always hidden by Joukuu’s purple silk scarf. This comes from It isn’t the wounds or dress that Joukuu is known for in ANBU though, it is his mask.
One thing that Joukuu holds most dear to him that he got on his trip around the world is his new ANBU mask. One thing that other ANBU use to joke with Joukuu about is the fact that even when he was promoted to ANBU he still used a trainee’s mask. Now though, Joukuu has his own personalized captain’s mask. He got this mask made when he was in Wind Country. Of course he didn’t know he would be a captain at the time, but Joukuu had designed it himself, and with that it came with his own flare. The mask has a color scheme of the lightning yellow, snow white and soulless black. It is made of from a wood called sandskin, which comes from a type of tree known only to be found in the Wind country. This type of wood is known for being extremely durable, light, flexible, and breathable. It is buffered with a small layer of black silk which keeps the face from rubbing against the wood, and the wood being corrupted and warped by Joukuu’s sweat. Its design was also something to behold. Due to Joukuu’s constant struggle with demons, and how they seemed to follow the teenager around wherever he went, Joukuu decided to play on that. In a hand carved manner, the man who followed Joukuu’s drawing made a mask of a make believe demon. The mouth which is agape showing off what seemed to be a black pit, is only broken up who two snow white fangs. The mask then a solid lightning yellow color contrasting the darkness of his mouth is detailed to almost a supernatural level, giving the looks of almost a phantom demon. In the center of the forehead the same kanji symbol of truth is still retrained from his trainee mask. Black and white lines give depth and layers to the mask, and two black circles surrounded the eye holes. This mask combined with the new extremely light blue eye contacts that Joukuu found in a bazaar in a port of water country, give Joukuu’s an almost supernatural appearance when he is on duty. It is with this new attire, and overall appearance that Joukuu seems to have changed to everyone.
Coming back with new attire seemed to loads for the teenager. First off, it seemed to signal a new personality for the shinobi with the lightning fast sword draw. The mute colors, which were changed out of the bright colors of his cloths, seemed to make him more welcoming at least to look at. His cut hair as well seemed that at least he was caring for himself. The changes of his dress made people question his sexuality. Even though his sexuality remains a mystery to both Joukuu, and to the people close to him, Joukuu doesn’t bother with the question or looks his color attire brings him. After all, those questions might shade the fact that he is in fact extremely deadly when he chooses to be, and make him even more of a handful to deal with.
