Shinen couldn't sleep after his first day at the academy. First he was in the wrong classroom, thinking he was just early. His "Sensei" that walked in was seemingly mad, insane, or simply just crazy, but the lesson was very enjoyable, and he learned a lot. Then, after a few hours, or perhaps several, he was finally able to go to the correct classroom, where he apologized to the sensei. He was still not satisfied, he had to keep practicing.
As he quietly got out of bed, he overheard his parent's arguing yet again. He only stuck around after joining the academy because he was not of age to be on his own. He suck out of the house from his window, and searched for a good training area. He traveled, for what seemed an hour, before he found a spot. The area was decently large, with a few training dummies, scarred by kunai knives and shuriken, and sand covering the area. Shinen realized, this was a popular training spot. Shinen couldn't stop thinking on what the red haired sensei said in her lesson: "survive". As Shinen stretched, he reminisced the fight. He knew he would need to increase his taijutsu skills, and strength to do more damage, but he had one goal for the night: To work on his ninjutsu skill, as it saved him in the lesson.
Using the sand around him, Shinen created Sand Clones, the skill he learned from a scroll he found on his way to class. Using his clones, he worked on his Taijutsu skills, until the clones were no more. He read somewhere about Gaara's sand controlling abilities, about his ability for a sand barrier, sand burial, and more. Knowing the density and mass of sand, and it's very capable defensive abilities, Shinen attempted to create his own sand abilities. Hours went by, and little success, he started to recreate a version of Garra's sand barrier. He created a defensive wall. To test his durability, Shinen created sand clones, and with them, used all his ninja tools, and brute strength. The wall barely held. He knew this was no good when he eventually reaches the point of going on missions as a Shinobi, but he couldn't work any more on his ninjutsu, as he was very fatigued from using so much chakra. Instead, Shinen finally went to bed.
