Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Considering their last encounter with the Kraken, Tatsuo had grown a liking to Doi. He was a good kid and reliable, something he really appreciated in a person so when he asked him to show him some stuff he didn't hesitate to offer up his services as the best sensei in all of the world. Or something like that.

Whether he told him or not, he wasn't exactly sure what he wanted to learn but he did say he wanted to meet outside of the gates of Kurosawa. Tatsuo would be standing there waiting for Doi, dressed in the typical Leaf gear. A blue headband tightened around his head, the symbol of Konoha out for everyone to see. A black pair of pants and shirt under a flak jacket with various pieces of equipment stored within. For the most part he seemed ready to do anything, but it was mostly because he forgot to do laundry last night and was forced to wear his mission clothes. Or wear that shirt that he wasn't sure if it smelled yet.

It was time for some intense training. Taijutsu was something Doi really wanted to focus on and improve. The genin is very proficient with lightning and storm based jutsu, but his taijutsu is slightly lacking. Luckily, Doi had gotten quite familiar with the Konoha Jounin, Tatsuo, and had thus decided to ask him for a small training session. Doi himself wasn't a user of wood release and Tatsuo wasn't very proficient with lightning or storm based techniques, so hand to hand combat was about the only thing Tatsuo could help him with anyway. It was an art almost every shinobi had some degree of proficiency in. A bonafide should be able to teach a genin like him a lot when it comes to taijutsu, even if it wasn't their strength. Walking towards the gates of Kurosawa, Doi could see Tatsuo's figure already there waiting for him. The Kumo genin was wearing his usual shinobi attire. A black shirt with sleeves that reached his elbows, black shinobi pants with bandages wrapped around the shins, black shinobi sandals, and both of his arms and hands in white combat bandages. His purple Kumogakure armband could be seen displayed proudly on his upper right bicep. His chokuto was in a storage scroll he kept strapped to his waste. The blade was rather long, so it would more than likely interfere with his training if he carried it how someone normally would.

Now at the gate, Doi addressed his tutor for the day. "Hey, Tatsuo. I'm ready to go. My taijutsu could reeeeeeaally use a lot of work."He paused."You have a spot where we could train without being bothered?" The day was only starting, but Doi wanted to learn as much as he could. He didn't have the option of learning from a foreign shinobi back him in Kumo.

"Taijutsu? Sounds good to me." Tatsuo nodded to Doi when he asked. He wondered what he was able to teach the Genin anyways, but after years of training with Hoshi, Tatuso had grown quite proficient at Taijutsu. Unarmed especially. Leading the way, Tatsuo brought them to a small field that was empty. Someone in Tea Country thought it would be wise to set up these little training spots all over the Country Side to prevent shinobi from tearing up their farmlands while training. It was a wise decision because training as a shinobi could really create some havoc and losing a years worth of crop was something no one was looking to do.

"Well, my best Taijutsu is unarmed but I guess i'm alright with a sword as well. How about we just do unarmed for now, if you want to train with swords I can manage that too." he said with a firm nod as he got into a stance. It mimicked that of a Hyuuga's, however his arms were kept closer together and his palms were closed. Tatuso wasn't able to pinpoint chakra points like his friend Hoshi so his stance took a bit of adjusting. "Let's just see what you've got, come at me with everything you have and we'll go from there." While the friendly smile never left Tatsuo's face, it was obvious he was serious. He had no doubt in his mind that Doi could put up a fight, but he trusted his abilities enough to counter and deal with anything the boy could dish out. After-all he was a Jonin.

Doi stood undaunted a fair distance away from Tatsuo. The duo of Genin and Jounin were currently situated in a small training field on the Land of Tea's countryside. It was one of the many predesignated areas for shinobi to train in while visiting the Land of Tea. With no interruptions, Doi and Tatsuo would have no problems starting their small training session.

This was Doi's chance to greatly improve in something he found his ability to be quite lacking. Infusing his entire body with lightning chakra could only do so much in terms of augmenting his physical capabilities. What good would an increase in strength and speed do if he couldn't manage to land a decently strong hit on his opponent? Not much.

The first portion of their impromptu training session would cover unarmed taijutsu combat. In preparation, Doi slid into his usual taijutsu battle stance. His hands were balled into fists in front of him, and he stood with one leg slightly infront of the other. Facing forwards, the genin watched as his opponent slid into their own. As he observed, Doi noticed that Tatsuo's stance looked very familiar. The older man's stance greatly resembled the Hyuuga taijutsu stance he'd seen Hoshi using multiple times. Yet, Doi greatly doubted Tatsuo had the ability to see chakra points. He wouldn't have to worry about his chakra system being shut down today.

Without a word in response to Tatsuo's statement of confirmation, Doi launched himself towards the Konoha Jounin. His intent was to catch his strong opponent off guard. What followed was an onslaught of forward jabs, a high aiming round house kick, a low leg sweeping kick and another punch aimed at Tatsuo's midsection. Most of it was dodged or quickly parried, but Doi wouldn't let up. He had to maintain the pressure.

There was a delicate balance when it came to teaching someone at a different skill level than you. While Tatsuo could have easily beaten Doi, that would not teach him a thing. So while he put up a fight he rarely did anything that would throw Doi off balance too much. When jabbed at, he would parry a few, take a few, and even provide a few of his own. The pressure Doi was maintain was great, it showed he had a lot of battle sense. Staying on the offensive forced your opponent to think fast and made them make sloppy mistakes, especially important when in close quarters like this. However there were plenty of rookie mistakes Doi would make, that would hopefully be fixed with time. Every time he would make one of these mistakes, such as stepping into deep or throwing himself off balance. Tatsuo quickly grab Doi's wrist and kick at his legs, sending him to the ground. While it was a bit rough, Tatsuo was always quick to help him up.

Even at the most intense bouts of their training, the smile never left Tatsuo's face. He wasn't a particularly rough teacher but a consistent one. Whenever Doi made a mistake he was quick to fix it and explain what was wrong but for the most part he would just continue up the spar. He felt like learning by actually doing was the best course of action and that a bunch of lessons and example didn't do much for anyone. "If you've got any questions." Tatsuo would say before blocking a quick punch from Doi and returning with his own. "Tell me, but otherwise." he ducked low to dodge another one of Doi's nasty kicks. "You're doing pretty good." It also was important to compliment students every once in a while. Many of teachers felt it important to just be cold and aloof, but Tatsuo always found that actually playing onto their strengths would help them discover their weaknesses themselves. Which did infinitely more than just insulting them.

Doi grimaced as he hit the grassy floor with a thump. A slight frown of annoyance on his face. The genin had been thrown to the ground multiple times during this session. The training field must've been filled with genin shaped indentations at this point.

He was sure if it.

Doi didn't plan on giving up any time soon, though. Getting up to a knee, the Kumo genin took Tatsuo's offered hand and stood up. Sliding back into his taijutsu stance, Doi once again prepared to engage his skilled opponent in unarmed hand to hand combat. He went in close and let loose a flurry of jabs. Occasionally dodging when his opponent retaliated with their own. Doi parried one of Jounin's punches and tried to respond with a reverse round house kick. Tatsuo still managed to avoid this hit despite being put off balance. Doi disengaged from Tatsuo for a brief period to gain some distance and then quickly came in close once again.

This combat sequence continued until Doi had his legs swept from under him and once again ended up on floor. He stood up, this time without his opponent's assistance, and used his forearm to wipe the sweat from his brow. Constantly being on the offensive was starting to take it's toll.

Focusing back on his opponent, Doi ran in while cocking back a punch that at first glance appeared to be aimed at Tatsuo's face. The genin used the punch as a feint and lept high into the air. The nasty kick Doi tried to deliver while airborne was dodged by his Jounin opponent.

The edges of the genin's mouth slightly curved into a small smile after his opponents compliment. "Yeah, well... we'll see how long it'll be before I land a solid hit on you." In an acrobatic display, Doi dodged a kick from Tatsuo and contorted his body as he jumped above his opponent. A heavy flying axe kick now threating to hit the unexpecting Tatsuo right on the temple.

Tatsuo's grin never faltered as they continued the heated training session. Doi really was pretty good, with a year or two of practice maybe he'd be better than Tatsuo even but as it stood without some hard work he would always fall a little short when it came to hand to hand combat. Bringing his arm down for a quick jab to Doi's stomach Tatsuo was actually going to fake him out. They had been training for a while and for the most part, other than countering Tatsuo had stayed on the defensive. Doi's offense wasn't bad but could his defense hold up? There really was only one way to see. With Tatsuo's fake punch aiming for his stomach he wanted to see how he reacted.

With the sucker punch coming out from nowhere, Tatsuo's other arm was going to grab at Doi's wrist. If the technique worked out, Tatsuo would bring Doi's wrist over his back while twisting into him. Sending the young boy flying over Tatsuo and into the dirt below them. A simple but useful technique. With the weight difference between the two it wouldn't be hard at all, but with the leverage even a smaller opponent could flip one much larger than themselves. While part of Tatsuo would feel bad for throwing Doi so hard, he felt it necessary to remind him that fights wouldn't always just be your opponent allowing you to wail on them. During the whole maneuver, Tatsuo would calmly say, "Your offense is great, but can you protect yourself? How can you protect anything if you cannot protect yourself?" A bit preachy but Tatsuo thought it'd be important to start that conversation. He hated training solely on ones physical capabilities, shinobi weren't just tools or weapons to be sharpened. They were people who needed reasons to fight. He had seen a lot of good from Doi, he was quick to help those who needed it and even aided Tatsuo in fighting a massive beast without the tiniest bit of hesitation.

But why did he fight? Why was he a shinobi? Was Tatsuo wasting time teaching someone who would one day wreak havoc on this world? Or was he training someone to protect those not strong enough to protect themselves? There really was only one way to find out and it started with a simple question. "Why do you fight?"

The Konoha Jounin was actually fighting back now. Retaliating with their own set of quick and concise jabs. Doi had to quickly adapt and change his offensive approach to a defensive one to avoid taking too much damage. It was a good thing his evasion skills were up to par, or else he'd have been hit multiple times by now. Dodging punch after punch, the genin remained vigilant incase an opening to attack became apparent. He’d fight back once the opportunity arose. Eventually, Tatsuo managed to grab the young Kumo genin by the wrist when the boy tried to hit him with a punch. Flipping Doi overhead, Tatsuo again complimented the boy’s offensive capabilities but questioned his defense. The genin managed to avoid hitting the dirt floor too hard by flipping mid-air and landing in a low crouch. Doi would respond to Tatsuo's inquiry once he'd caught his breath.

"I fight because it’s what’s expected of me as a shinobi. Being able to protect those that can’t defend themselves is nice too, I guess." Doi stood up from his crouched position. "I don’t dream of being Raikage or anything like that. I just want to be strong." Doi knew he wanted to help people, but his one true motive was just to be a respectable and strong shinobi. It was likely his ambitions would change in the future, so he didn't want to give a direct response yet.

With that said, he once again ran in to attack. Punches and kicks flying in rapid succession. Doi felt that this training session has proven to have been very beneficial towards his development. The pointers Tatsuo gave him were very helpful.

Their small training session in the countryside of the Land of Tea was soon reaching its peak. The genin was intent on finishing their spar with a bang.

"Why do you want to be strong?" he said as he dodged punches and kicks. Now throwing in a blows himself, "There's nothing wrong about wanting to be strong, but if you want to get strong for the sake of being strong, don't you think that's a little weak? You don't need to be the Raikage, you don't need titles or anything like that." he said as he went for a quick kick to Doi's hip. "Those who want them tend to not deserve them." He said offering his opinion on the matter, "But I don't think being expected to fight just because you're a shinobi is right." It was a thing harped commonly, from shinobi all over the world. That they were just tools, a weapon to be used much like the kunai they through. It was one of the things Tatsuo disagreed with at a fundamental level. He had seen men who fight just for ideology and no matter what ideology they were equal to the villains they were sworn to fight against.

"I might not be able to convince you, it might not even make any sense to you right now. Who knows it might not ever make sense, but even if you don't know now. I think you should think about that more. Why do you want to get strong, what's your reason for fighting?" Quickly ducking low to sweep Doi of his legs during his little monologue. The first few times Tatsuo had done this it had filled him with a sense of awkwardness, but now he felt confident in his reasoning. While Tatsuo might not be that much older than Doi, he still felt what he was saying was important for a shinobi to hear and the earlier the better. Those who fought for no reason only seemed to cause trouble to Tatsuo and those who only fought for their village were just as bad in his eyes but what was Doi thinking?

Doi swayed left and right to avoid incoming punches as he thought about what his opponent was saying. The boy had to admit that Tatsuo did bring up some very interesting points during his monologue. There was definitely some truth to the man's words. Growing stronger just for the sake of being strong did seem like fickle motivation, but it was truly all tat drove Doi at this point in time. The boy knew he wanted to help people — that was a given — but he just didn't have any larger goals to pursue. Doi brought his leg up to block a kick aimed at his hip before continuing his thought process.

Seeking an end to all conflicts and achieving world peace would be a perfect goal for someone like him, but even he knew this idea was unrealistic. Even inside Kumogakure's walls people still stole, killed, and performed many different heinous acts. Kumo was one of the most militaristic villages amongst the shinobi villages. If people still found ways to commit various despicable crimes inside Kumo, a small piece of the shinobi world, how would someone like him ever be able to make the entire world a better place? It just wasn't likely.

Doi speedily jumped to avoid Tatsuo's leg sweep. "I'll find a better reason at some point. For now, let's get this spar over with. I'm starting to get tired." He aimed high to try and hit Tatsuo with one final hook kick before he would disengage and back away. They'd been constantly fighting for over an hour straight and Doi was hungry. He left the hotel as soon as we woke up, so he didn't have time to eat breakfast.
