Ayumu stepped outside of the bar, shutting the door behind him. He was used to be significantly more buzzed when leaving such establishments, but sadly he was not there to drink. No, he was looking for someone. Not a friend, but somebody that he had to deal with nonetheless. Kouin, the new ANBU Sennin of Cloud, was somebody that Ayumu never expected to call a comrade when they first met. He had, after all, killed some of Ayumu’s comrades and seriously injured others. Yet, in Saito’s wisdom, he had decided to forgive Kouin when he asked for it and also grant him leadership over Ayumu’s former branch. It was a bizarre turn of events, but Ayumu accepted it. That, however, meant that he needed to keep a close eye on the man.
Right now, he didn’t know where the man was. What was worse, he had heard a rumor that Kouin was trying to sneak into the exam as a “Jounin”. It was probably an unfounded rumor, but he knew the man liked to fight. From what Ayumu had heard, Kouin had last been seen flirting with some local girls at the bar, using his rank as Sennin to impress them. However, he had just been in that bar and the bartender informed him that he’d left with some woman. Sighing, Ayumu shook his head. Everyone was watching the Sennin, and this was the display he was putting on for them? Even if the rumor about him entering the exam was unfounded, Ayumu now felt obligated to tell Kouin to act like a Sennin… at least in public.
Some of the patrons had seen Kouin walking down the street, or more accurately staggering. Pointed in the right direction, Ayumu began walking after them hoping he wasn’t too far behind. At this point, it seemed like his search was probably hopeless. He didn’t know these streets or any of the people. If Kouin left with a woman, he could be in literally any of the residences or hotels now. Frustrated by the apparent hopelessness of the situation, Ayumu barely noticed the glasses he stepped on, the arm of which unfortunately snapped.
’Glasses?’ Ayumu thought as he briefly looked at them before continuing on his way. After another step, he stopped and looked back at them. He squinted his eyes in concentration as he stared at the glasses. He had little doubt now at second glance, those were Kouin’s glasses. Kneeling down, Ayumu inspected them. The lense of one eye was broken, though Ayumu himself had not stepped on the lens. It was entirely possible somebody else had. Something more nefarious crossed Ayumu’s mind, but at this point it seemed too soon to jump to conclusions.
’Was he so drunk he dropped them and didn’t even realize?’ Ayumu pondered, picking the glasses up. However it had happened, finding them was a boon for him. As a former ANBU, this made tracking much easier. Almost too easy. Ayumu took a deep breath, trying to relax. Would Kouin really have just kept walking without his glasses? It seemed strange, even inebriated. Regardless, he would get to the bottom of it soon. Activating his Chakra Sense technique of ANBU fame, he felt a hint of the chakra. It was familiar, this was not the first time Ayumu had used the technique to locate Kouin. Now he felt even more confident that they belonged to the Sennin. Now he needed to follow it to the source. Pocketing the glasses, Ayumu began walking, following the chakra signature that would lead him to the womanizing Sennin, hopefully.
