Age: 13
Gender: Male
Physique: Zenaru has unkempt, moderately short, thick black hair with gloomy bangs that tend to conceal his right eye. Both iris and pupil are gradients of gold, which grow darker in magnitude closer to the center of his eyes; with a thin black line that distinguishes the larger pupils from the thinner irises. His height is slightly above average for his age at 166.6cm (5 feet 5.5 inches), while his coltish yet muscular build weighs in at 50kg (110 pounds). He usually dons a long coat, with soft gray furs lined in the interior for comfort and warmth, while a sleek and sturdy white fabric with black and gold accents protects the exterior. Silver armor pieces occasionally adorn his arms and torso, when available. He prefers breathable black slacks with a slightly tight elasticity. His common choice of undershirts are monochrome, with a silver zipper that he doesn't completely zip at the top or bottom; this allows for ample airflow to offset the heavy coat that keeps him warm in the cooler regions within the Land of Lightning.
Personality: Zenaru is introverted with a guise of reserved confidence. The lad tries to remain calm and realistic through cold silence, but he has seldom spouts of ambitious passion that he prefers to keep hidden. He's ashamed of his clan's fall from valiant honor to devastated decadence, and he represses the loss of his family's love to appear apathetic. He favors unemotional detachment, because he no longer cares to go through the pain of losing anyone close to him ever again.
History: Soratensyu Zenaru is a remnant descendant from a formerly honorable clan of samurai, which were once diligent protectors for the Land of Lightning. Strife from civil wars tore the various Soratensyu families apart, as vast portions of the clan struggled to maintain their loyalty during the land's recent incidents with betrayal. Most of the fractured families' elite members lost their lives in the chaos that ensued, while the splintered scraps fell to turmoil. A handful of survivors sustained the fallen ancestry's traditional devotion to swordplay for a time, but too few remained who could properly instruct the next generation of scions. Forlorn shame shattered the once prestigious samurai lineage, and the Soratensyu clan eventually succumbed to self-destruction.
Zenaru was one of very few youths who were incapable of seppuku, while the rest of his foolish family abandoned him for the hope of their deluded thoughts of afterlife. He never agreed with the conclusion that doomed his family; his mother and brother were courageous enough to commit to their aspirations, and his father sacrificed his life to the Land of Lightning's civil war. None of it made sense to the disappointed child, and he instead resented both paths that laid before him. He would not give up so easily to the notions of a hopeful eternity in paradise, nor could he find it in himself to become a reckless paragon of purpose. No, he would forge a new destiny for himself. He would travel to the Village Hidden by Clouds, and enroll himself in Kumogakure Academy. He would shed the clan's old way of the samurai, and be reborn as a ninja.
