Ew. Ew ew ew. Nothing worse than bugs... other than frogs. EWWW frogs were the worst of the worst! Hanone couldn't even think about a frog without shuddering.
Since the academy was starting for her last year soon, she was mostly out playing and enjoying life. However, her mom and dad didn't like her running around willynilly and told her to find something more productive to do. When she resisted, they came home with some mission slips.
She had been sooo excited to do a real, honest to goddess mission that she had taken the first slip and went right to her destination. Little did she know that E-rank missions were little more than chores. She had arrived, ready and giddy at an old crunchy looking house. Her quick knock was met by an ancient wrinkled face. The old woman was so happy to see her that she told her to head right upto the attic, shoving a broom, cleaning gloves and a face mask into her hands before physically ushering her toward the drop ladder. That's when she LOOKED at the paper.
Clean out the cobwebs and spiders in the attic for Tsumi-baa-san.
...
With a dark scowl the girl went up the ladder into the musty old upper room. It was heavy with dust and webbies, laiden with crusty old boxes and... was that a bird's nest? She quickly donned the mask and reluctantly got to work.
First she opened the windows, ones so dark with dust no light managed its way in. She began by sweeping up floors, which just made huge plumes of dust swirl up everywhere and tried to push it out the windows. There were probably 60 spiders in the corners, every corner and the bird nest turned out to be a mouse nest, which also got evicted out the window.
The whole job took Hanone several hours of work and it was not worth it in her opinion. When she finally emerged from the attic, her red hair was a grayish hue and her skin was dark from the dirt and grime. The attic, however, looked okay. Grumpy as could be and sore as well, Han reported that the woman's attic was now clean enough to eat from and left the house, leaving dust footprints behind her.
Never again. Never.
