Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

And so the time had come to set out for Tea Country. Kaji Okada made plans with his allies for the journey, deciding to gather at the very same pier where they set sail for the Dreadnought all those months ago. Kaji was setting off with Miraku and Hoshi, just like on that fateful day. However, for the tournament, they were being joined by Junko Tsuyoshi this time, a skilled Medic, and shinobi alike. The squad had a typical itinerary for any group of shinobi. Just like the last time, Kaji’s traveling party planned to strike out on their own and rendezvous in Port Cirrus. From there, they would meet with Captain Wokou of the ship Her Lucky Bones, and be ferried to Shinogi Landing in Kurosawa City, the Capital of the Tea Country. It was a journey destined to take a couple day’s time, sailing south across the Lightning coast and into the tropical waters along the western edge of Tea.

Kaji was embarking from the village the way he always had, riding into the mouth of Dragontooth Pass on the saddle of a strong Sunan Mare. “Whoa, girl,” he charmed his steed into trotting to a stop and swung a leg over her back to make a smooth dismount. The chocolate-hued steed let out a soft neigh and pawed the firm cobblestone. Kaji seemed so focused, intent on beginning his journey as if hurrying into it would bring to a conclusion just as fast. But as he was never one to overlook the simple things— he stopped to pet the sweet horse in appreciation for her service as he always did.

In his time since coming to the Hidden Cloud, it seemed as if Kaji had become one with the setting and naturalized in every sense of the word. He owned his identity as being a man of the Cloud, just like how he wore his leathery vestments so well. He was dressed in mountainous, earthly toned garments, all thick to protect him from the bitter north’s chill. His voluminous raven head of hair was tied into a knot to keep it in order during his ride, with a few telling sable strands gleaming in the daylight. The gatekeepers seemed to already have the necessary paperwork drawn and were observing Kaji as he approached their station. It was clear that in a city of many shinobi they still knew his features well enough. His wiry frame was made for war yet softened slightly by age into a refined masculine shape. Angular features played on his face with a complexion bordering caramel. But most notably were his eyes— shining orbs that appeared as if emerald stones were set into his pupils. Somehow, Kaji always managed to look bored or exhausted though, managing to dull those spectacular gems with his expression.

Kaji revealed a hand-size booklet bound in coarse greyed leather which was kept inside his waistcoat pocket. He bent the spine as he opened the booklet wide to reveal his printed ID and passport, and presented it to be stamped for the umpteenth time with time and date, certifying his passage. The process was forgettable, though many faces and things were— but that didn’t go for everyone. The list of people who could bring a light to Kaji was incredibly limited, as he was short on loved ones and friends. As he took back his passport and turned to face the wide world ahead, his dull expression was suddenly renewed with brightness and warmth. Had she come to see him off, tell him he forgot his toothbrush, or to relay more instructions from their benefactors at the Torre Celeste? Regardless of why; any time he saw Yuii he felt joy.

-- Requesting to be let out by Kagetsu Yuii.

Since the day of their return, Yuii could feel them, the thousands of eyes of Kumogakure watching their every move. Of the many truths about humanity, Yuii was learning first hand how, drawing, delicious and irresistible gossip could be. It drew its victims in, struck them fast, and all but the most apathetic were infected with a feverish need spread the disease. The virus went deep, made some crazed and desperate for more morsels of information like starved hyenas following a pride of lions. For others, the half-chewed bones of knowledge were not good enough, they wanted something fresh for their own. Already Yuii had found starry-eyed children in their garden, been followed during her daily routine and been asked more personal questions then she ever wished to hear as gossip hounds sated their lust for more.

All of this over a little elopement and a new baby between sennin and recent celebrity Anbu Commander.

But the gossip roaches weren't the ones she worried about. The square-jawed ape handling Kaji's paperwork was a cousin of hers and it wasn't friendly curiosity in his eyes. Their relation was distant, she didn't even know his given name, but there was no missing the lettering on his well-polished name tag, the arrogant swagger in his step and the murderous glare he tossed between them. Yuii was certain she had not seen a Kagetsu name on the roster for that morning, but here he was: a bad smell and raincloud to try and ruin their goodbyes. Or, Yuii reflected as she watched the champions of Kumogakure processed to leave, something more nefarious. A knife in the back was obvious but bureaucratic subterfuge could cripple the life of even the strongest. Yuii couldn't allow that, not when they were finally taking strides in the right direction.

Dressed in wooled winter clothes in tones of grey and slate blue, Yuii was recognizable only by the mess of fine blue hair and the sparkle in her bright blue eyes. It was no wonder that Kaji's gaze did not alight on her until the last stamp had fallen and dried. This was Yuii keeping a low profile, not for her own sake, but for the bundle curled lovingly against her shoulder. Kaji, of course, looked perfect., dashing and good enough to eat. Warmth spread out from her chest like spring sunshine as they eyes met, and Yuii wondered if this was how everyone felt about their husband and soulmate; homecoming.

"It's really happening, isn't it? Travel, a far-off land, a martial tournament? I can barely believe it," she chimed happily, offering Umeko in silent exchange for his documents still in hand, "If only I didn't have to babysit half the village on the trip, I'm starting to fear there will not be much time for proper exploration. There are... rumours about some of these kids." She would check the book for error with a quick flip through at hip height that could be mistaken for fiddling with the precious pages. A signature was missed, something she easily added, and a date had been miswritten but nothing too bad. She would have cause to reprimand the guard if she dared and there would be no trouble at the docks now. "I envy your company, Innamorato. Imagine a ship with dozens of Students and Genin. I hope you'll love me as much with grey hair as blue after this experience."

Yuii's eyes curved up with amusement, making it clear she was joking. "I hear we'll have fair weather the whole way at least. We will see you soon." She leaned in for a kiss, a still guilty pleasure of their changed status, and smoothed her fingers over his jacket. The next they would see each other would be in Tea Country and Kaji would be set to prove his might and right to be free. A potentially bloody toll to a happy life that Kaji had to bear alone; how aggravating. "And don't forget clouds tourney rules! You're mine now officially, Mr. Okada!"

Kaji has been released. Bye bye!

She was like sunlight breaking through a rain cloud, providing the light for Kaji’s path. All of the coming adventures were for the sake of Kaji’s bond with this woman, Yuii Kagetsu, and the bundle of life cradled in her arms. Since the birth of their daughter Umeko, the couple of Kaji and Yuii were rarely apart, if only in the necessities of their work within the village. This sudden call to a foreign land almost felt wrong to Kaji, who was a seasoned traveler. In fact, he had never felt so deaf towards the constant call which used to compel him to explore the vast lands. Upon seeing them, Kaji’s gravitation was set in motion. If she was the sun to his earth, their babe became a moon; the glowing beauty which could light his way home no matter how dark a night could be. Kaji could never lose his way with this pair in his life.

Kaji’s hard edge softened as he gladly took Umeko into arms, appropriately treating the child like a precious and fragile package. She had become lively in the time since her birth, full of energy and grabbing for everything in reach. Kaji was looking down at her and smiling as Yuii reflected on their coming travels with a mixture of excitement and nervousness. The emeraldine stare elevated from the child to her mother with the same caring gaze. “Aye, the time has finally come— but don’t worry, I’m sure we’ll find some time to enjoy ourselves in Tea Country.” Kaji almost pulled Yuii into the grasp of one arm while he held their daughter in the other, cradled so gently. That frisky hand messaged her shoulder playfully, warmly, and lovingly. “Between all the competing and chaperoning, we’ll find time for us three to be together as well. ‘We can get a competent one of the kids to look after Umeko and have a date-night for a change. Who knows... maybe there’s even a nice beach we can share a panini on during the sunset.” At this point, “panini” was a codeword— now that they were parents it was time to develop codewords. Kaji held a small but wicked grin.

“I think the next two days without you will be the longest I’ll ever live” Kaji admitted; he was clearly thinking about the journey ahead. “We’ll survive, right? ‘Just like shinobi do. ‘Sorry for dumping the baby and all those rugrats with you— I’ll be sure to make it up to you by getting us a sweet room… Not even Ayumu himself will have a better view of the city than us.” And it wasn’t an exaggeration, as the very reason Kaji and his squad were setting out to Tea Country in advance was to establish room and board for the remainder of cloud’s traveling party.

Ready for Kaji to leave, the couple exchanged the hands bearing Umeko, and kissed, honestly and with such meaning, embracing the fact that their love was no longer a game for the shadows. Kaji leaned back from the exchange, standing upright as he always had to bend slightly to meet her. With rosy cheeks and a grin, he knew he’d never tire of the taste of her lips, and thought he had the better deal in their exchanges. How she didn’t demand that he keep his whiskers shaved was always a mystery to Kaji— perhaps accepting that was just a part of their love that was so unconditional. A minor thing in the grand scheme of a life together. “My blue woman,” he said affectionately, supposing to be on his way but lingering there, dumbly. “I’d love you even if you went bald and toothless in old age… Forever.” He then took a few paces back and whistled for his mare to come to him. It was then that Yuii said her humor, claiming him with tourney rules despite the fact holding firmly in their hearts. “Forever” he repeated, both as an answer and declaration before scurrying onto the horse and riding away to Port Cirrus.

-- Kaji has left the village.

A giggle escaped Yuii's lips, and the spark in her eye revealed she knew exactly what sort of 'panini' he meant. One baked in the hot sun she was being promised would be more than enticing, and the flavour was certain to be enhanced by the exotic experience. A blush followed while her mind drifted to more than just cheese and she leant to the frisk like a cat being caressed. "I guess I'd better find a trustworthy student. or two then." She agreed enthusiastically, not entirely certain if one of those existed when it came to the safety of her baby but coaxed towards the idea with alone time. "I've never been to a beach that hasn't frozen your toes before. I'm sure it will be a wondrous... experience."

Time apart would be difficult, since Umeko's birth they'd barely been apart, but at least he would be, presumably, safer than he was at home. Yuii could rest easy that Kaji could deal with the unknown dangers of the world, he always did, while the known could cool their heels. It was unlikely that 'they' would extend their resources so far during such a public event. They were vicious, not crazy. In the meantime, she pitied Kaji more for missing Umeko and her company than she did herself having to watch the village youth. For Yuii, it would be the few quiet hours she saw that would be the most difficult. Not being able to share a meal or share her thoughts. Work often left them little time together, but what they managed was priceless.

Yuii didn't even want to acknowledge the fact that they may never be able to return to that routine.

"I'll survive them, I was a teacher once after all, and I look forward to inviting Kogami up for a nightcap just to rub it the better room. And looking at the view while-" Yuii's face stretched into a sultry smile that expressed her thoughts exactly, Her eyes flicked down on pause though, just to make her wishes very obvious, "-you make everything up to me." The kiss she leaned up for warm, with undertones of promised passion later and fever of melancholy over parting. She sighed out of her nose when he finally pulled away but gently took Umeko into her arms without protest.

"Forever," She agreed blithely, blowing a kiss, "to eternity and back again." And then he was off.

Yuii lingered until he faded from sight and a moment more before returning home to pack her own bags.
