Name: Hayashi Kei (林 けい)
Age: 10
Gender: Male
Sex: Male
Rank: Academy Student
Physical Description: Kei is a male with a short stature, standing about 4’3” tall and weighing about 32 pounds. His dark brown hair shows a hint of ginger highlight in the sun, and he tends to wear it in a half-up ponytail. His eyes are also a dark brown in hue, though he has sectoral heterochromia in his left eye, a visible wedge of blue splitting through his iris. His skin is a comfortable tan that is complemented by his dark features. His left eyebrow sports a small pale scar, barely noticeable from a distance. He tends to dress in simple clothing, nothing too tight so he can move more freely in his training. The colors tend to be on the warmer earthy side of the wheel, though his favorite to wear is maroon or mahogany. His most unique article of clothing is a dragonfly hairpin passed down through generations of his family. His father passed it to him the day he decided to follow in his family’s footsteps and train in the ninja ways.

Mental Description: Kei is a mostly happy child. He spends a lot of time with his dad, whether training or not. He loves to make new friends, and he tries to see the best in people despite their history. His positive outlook on others doesn’t always follow through to himself, however. Despite his best efforts, he always feels there is more he can do to improve and rarely gives himself the credit he deserves. His biggest dream is to become a MedNin, as he is not too fond of harming others. He hopes to one day be able to help people in a greater way with his honed skills.

History:
Kei was always such a happy kid, ever since the day he was born. His baby years were filled with laughter, a contagious joy that could put a smile on almost any face in the room. It was sad that he had been left on a doorstep mysteriously one night. Thankfully, the family that found him outside adopted him without a single complaint. He was very hyper once he was able to move around on his own, full of energy right until bedtime. He absolutely loved spending time with his older sister of five years, Komi. They would often play games together and babble on about stories their mother would tell them when they were supposed to be going to sleep at night. When Kei turned 6, his father began to share stories of their ancestry with him. He told of all the different ninja paths they took, the interesting battles that were lost and won, and the impact his family has made no matter how small. Kei was inspired by the tales, unlike his sister who wanted to live a life more like their mother. Despite their differing opinions on the future, Kei chose that he wanted to train in a similar path to his ancestors. His father agreed to train him once he was old enough.

Kei had always heard the tales of old from his family and friends, but his sister was the biggest fan of historical legends. She told him for years about the dragons and their gifts to human kind. Komi often filled his head with tales of him being a lost member of the royal family, given that Kei was told that he was adopted once he was old enough to recognize how different he looked from his family. He took the news without much turmoil; his family was his family, blood or not.
Kei sometimes entertained her tales in his dreams, wondering if his streak of blue really was some sort of sign. However, as he grew and began to make friendships, a few kids his age weren’t as kind about his eye. It was a distraction to them, a strange occurrence that no one in their town was familiar with. The older people never said much, but the kids were relentless. Due to the constant picking at his “strange” eye, he only tended to hang out with a select group of friends. He didn’t let the comments get him down, far too focused on his goals to get strong enough to join the academy.
His eye did come up as a topic of interest one day with an elderly woman that lived near him, though. She was an old friend of his father’s, and therefore a family friend.
“You are marked by the dragon,” she spoke, rather than her usual smile and wave greeting.
“Oh, my eye? Funny, isn’t it? My sister tells me the legends all the time,” he replied with a grin. He usually played off the comments the same way.
“Those stories aren’t just stories, Kei. Your eye is rare, a true sign of strength and power beyond your beliefs.”
Kei had usually kept those thoughts to himself as silly dreams, but hearing an elder of his town state something with so much truth in her tone made him truly question his origins. He was adopted, and no one knew who his parents were. He was simply left, no note, no knock, just found by his giggles when a butterfly tickled his nose in the early morning. Kei began to ask around the village, to see if anyone knew more tales. He was told of a clan that he may wish to look into, see if he can get some information on the Ryuu’s as they were said to be of ancient descent. If anyone would know if his eye truly meant something, it would be someone there.
Kei spent one last evening with his current family, packing up a handmade satchel gifted to him by his sister. He wasn't sure what the future would hold for him, but he knew he wouldn't see them again for quite some time while searching for his own truth.
“No matter what happens, no matter where your life leads you, you will always have a sister to come home to if you need,” Komi stated with tears spilling down her cheeks.
“I'll do my best to keep in touch, and I'll come visit whenever I'm near.”
Kei left early the next morning to begin his trek to Kumogakure. His hometown was settled in the farmlands of Moon Island, so he would need to travel the waters to reach his destination. Ot was a few days of a trip, but after his Kong journey, he finally found himself at the gates of Kumogakure. He showed the travel passport his father had gotten him through some connections in his past. Once inside the city, it took him a bit of time to ask around and find his way to the Ryuu clan estate. He made a request to be taken in and hopefully learn more about his possible lineage.
