Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

[TD]Physical Profile:
Aki is a short young woman with long blonde hair and tired eyes; her most striking feature
is often the flecks of color that have found their way into her clothes and hair, staining them
the shade of her creations. She prefers to keep her wardrobe simple, usually a plain shirt and
jeans or sometimes her flak jacket, all similarly spotted with bright patches of pigment. Her
posture is fluid but somewhat lazy, and watching her casual movements can be like watching
a leaf fall to the ground: the destination is clear enough, but the path downwards is likely all
over the place.

[TD]Personality:
Aki is as mellow as one can seem in a world filled with hardship and turmoil. She gives the
impression of a long-retired grandmother even at her young age; averse to raising her voice
and possessing a strongly nurtured empathy for those around her, she says what she thinks or
says nothing at all. One of her more physically apparent hobbies is visual art, and because of
it she dabbles in fields of design for everything from interior layouts to her specialty, tools and
weapons. Though she buries it sometimes, she has always had a natural desire to understand
the world and the people around her.

[TD]History:
Aki is the fourth child of five, born to parents of the Sugihara clan: a scattered group of
older-generation shinobi with a decorated history in weapon smithing that seemed to be
firmly in the past. Like her borthers and sisters before her, she was enrolled in the academy
in the hopes of making a good name in the village for her clan. Although she often had trouble
finding motivation to train (considering drawing a much more enjoyable use of her time), it
eventually became clear that she, like her older brother, was a naturally gifted athlete whose
developing skill with taijutsu far outclassed her meager ninjutsu capabilities. As she got older,
Aki idolized her brother and his honest, hardworking attitude; she graduated from the academy
and spent much of her time as a genin training alongside him. Right before her first chuunin
exam, her brother, who had already been promoted, accepted a long-term mission abroad to
ensure the safe development of a small village. Though she was desperate to request to join
him, she was knocked out in the first round of the exam and was unable to. While she did
eventually pass the exam, what turned into years without regular training with him once again
turned her passion for being a ninja inward.

[TD]Kinjutsu History:
Aki stared idly across the treeline, twirling an orchid-colored kunai around her finger as she
swept her gaze over the view from atop the gate once more. Right on schedule, a voice called
from below, and an eager younger kunoichi hopped over the short wall near the guard post,
giving her a wave to indicate she’d be taking her place. The Chuunin nodded in return, and,
descending from the gate, began her walk home. It was still a bit strange to not be one of the
newest of her rank in the village anymore… everyone she still kept up with from the Academy
and Genin teams were off on missions all the time, so someone of her age did stick out a bit
on gate duty or patrol. She didn’t mind– apparently those in charge of assignments were
aware that her fighting style was often messy and easily identifiable, plus her grandparents had
requested to only have one of their few heirs away from the village long-term. Less exciting
stuff matched her demeanor anyway; she just missed the thrill of training alongside her
brother, she supposed.

Her family was still very concerned with ‘their place in the village’ as they called it– given that
her grandparents were the only remaining recognized leadership of what was once the
Sugihara clan, their priority as heads of the family was to secure a place in the Leaf for its new
generations (of which her and her siblings were the only current members). Essentially, after
living here for the past decade and a half, they had finally come to the conclusion that Konoha
was a safer and overall better place to be than the glorified bandit camp that the Sugihara
name had eventually split apart from, and now they were desperate to solidify themselves here.
Aki loved her grandparents, but they had a very old and paranoid way of going about their
business. Perhaps it was because she was raised here, but to her it was obvious that the village
already ‘accepted’ their family just as much as they did any other, and also certainly was not on
the verge of collapse any time soon. Still, they had worked hard to help her brothers and sisters
find stable jobs, and they had been nothing but supportive of her and her brother’s efforts to
revive the clan’s weapon-forging heritage.

Her mind continued to wander as she made her way home. On that subject… Sanjiro had
mentioned in his last letter to her that the small village he was stationed at had taken a particular
interest in his smithing skills, so he had decided to share his technique with them. She had
specifically not mentioned that part to the rest of her family, although perhaps it would be better
to tell them after all. She just assumed that her grandparents might take offense to their ‘clan
secrets’ being taught freely, even though it had been her and her brother who had reopened the
derelict tool shop near their house– despite them introducing the Sugihara siblings to their family
history as weaponsmiths, Sanjiro had practiced the art itself ten times as much as they had, and if
he shared his incredible knowledge with others then she didn’t want Grandmother and
Grandfather stopping him. Maybe that could be her way of giving back to the village and the clan,
Aki pondered… she could teach people the fascinating intricacies of jutsu and life as a shinobi. Or
maybe she just wanted an excuse to teach others like her brother had taught her. Either way,
mixing it up from gate duty all the time might not be so bad.

Like her older brother and older sister before her, Aki had started her shinobi career at the
Academy in the interest of supporting her family and eventually herself. Though she struggled
quite a bit at first, especially with ninjutsu, over time she was able to grasp a decent skill at
taijutsu, in large part thanks to her brother Sanjiro’s training. The two of them motivated each
other through their respective graduations, inspired by tales from their grandparents of their
clan’s former status as legendary weapon-smiths years and years before they had come to the
Leaf village. One day, they found their way into an old tool shop out of the forest near where
they lived, and, intrigued, they began experimenting with what was left of it. Though the last truly
skilled weaponsmiths from their clan had either died decades ago or outright refused to
accompany their grandparents to Konoha, their techniques still existed in the family’s surviving
records, and so Aki and Sanjiro studied those as best they could. They had continued practicing
nearly every day, in fact, until her brother had left on his mission– though he turned out to be
better at forging durable weapons through hours of hard work, she was always superior with
coming up with well-thought-out designs, which let her master the clan’s signature technique
before he did.

She slid open their home’s side door, letting out a long yawn as she kicked off her shoes,
unzipped her paint-splattered flak jacket, and tossed it over at her room’s open door. There was
an art piece she had been working on the previous night that she could use the rest of the
afternoon to finish, or she could see if anyone else was–

“Aki, hurry in here!” her mother’s voice called urgently from the main room. She frowned, and did
as she was told, rushing through the already-open door to see almost the entire family present:
her mother, father, and grandmother, all conversing worriedly with a stern-faced young kunoichi
wearing the symbol of the Konoha Byoin on a lab coat, along with her two older sisters and
younger brother sitting in the back of the room and talking equally worriedly amongst themselves.
The Chuunin nodded in greeting to their guest, still frowning, and requested, “What is this about?
Is everything alright?”

The doctor spoke first, politely but clearly meaning to get the first word in before her parents
could. “Your brother Sanjiro is currently in custody of the Byoin. He was seriously injured while on
a long-term mission and needed to be returned to the village as soon as was possible.” Aki sucked
in a breath, holding back the sudden wave of mixed emotions until the kunoichi had finished
speaking. “While I unfortunately can’t disclose the full nature of his condition yet, since we need to
run further tests to make sure, it’s looking very probable that he will need intensive care in order to
survive.” She swept a look around at all of the Sugiharas gathered, running a hand through her
short-shorn hair with an empathetic look. “The most important matter is that one or multiple of his
able-bodied close family members will most likely be required to undergo a transfusion procedure
in order to help stabilize him. We can go over more of the final details once we reach the hospital,
but we would be taking significant amounts of chakra as well as blood and possibly skin tissue.”

Once again, her parents looked like they wanted to say something, but Aki simply interjected, “I’ll
volunteer to go first. Mikumi doesn’t have enough chakra for a healthy transfusion, Chiaki is injured
herself and shouldn’t undergo any surgeries right now, and Grandmother would never let Shoji do
it.” She realized that everything she had said was true as she was saying it- it had been an instinctive
reaction born from rising emotions, to leap to her older brother’s aid, but looking around at the
expressions of everyone else in the room, they had been waiting for her to get home because they
knew she was the best fit for the procedure. The doctor nodded. “If you’re sure… let’s get going
then. You still have until we reach the Byoin to decide.”

After what felt like mere seconds, they were standing in the hospital, looking through a glass
window into an unconscious, bedridden Sanjiro’s room. His skin was an unnaturally pale, almost blue
color, and his breathing was slow and heavy, each breath seeming to shake his entire frame. It
seemed to be a miracle already that he could have been transported from the site of his mission in
any condition like this. The same young doctor appeared from down the hallway once more,
followed by an earnest-looking man wearing a symbol on his clothes that Aki didn’t recognize. “I
apologize again, but the details of the transfusion need to be discussed in private. Follow me,
please.”

“According to the reports of his teammates and Mr. Sato,” she gestured to the man who had
accompanied her and the Sugihara family to have their discussion, “Sanjiro was gravely injured when
he ventured into a cave, and the local medical unit had to implant foreign DNA into his body in order
to save him. While it may have helped him survive until now, his body is beginning to reject it
violently- or, rather, it is rejecting his body. In his weakened state, his body isn’t able to assimilate the
new DNA properly.” Mr. Sato spoke up, giving Aki a concerned look. “We don’t have much time, so
I’ll try to tell the story as fast as I can. Sugihara-san did indeed rush into the Cave of Rites after a child
from our village. The Cave is our closest link to the Void, the origin of our village’s power- only those
of a certain lineage can handle the atmosphere there, and the child, in a bout of foolishness, wished
to test himself before his time. As it turned out, he was a suitable conduit for the Void, but
Sugihara-san, who ran in to protect him, was not: exposure to the Void that resides in the Cave has
killed outsiders before, and he looked to be no different. Our bodies can handle its drain more
naturally than others since we live our lives near the cave, so in an effort to both patch up his physical
wounds and provide him with resistance against… forgive me if it is difficult to explain, but… the Void’s
hunger.”

The doctor nodded, pocketing the pad of notes she had been writing on during the explanation and
addressing Aki, “It’s time. I can explain more after the procedure is complete, but we’ve concluded that
the biggest threats to your brother right now are the rejection of the implanted DNA and the
prolonged draining of his chakra due to exposure to this Void Mr. Sato spoke of.” She tapped the pen
she’d been writing with to the side of her head.” The plan is to even that out between the two of you-
since your chakra signatures and genetic makeup are similar enough as siblings, we can spread the
foreign DNA to your body and link your chakra networks. If everything goes well, the bit of “Void” that’s
draining chakra will fizzle out– it’s already beginning to do so, it just needs to be fed more chakra until
it dissolves, we believe– and the distributed DNA will be able to be safely assimilated by your healthy
body and his recovering one.” Aki nodded. Perhaps it was part of the job description, but it was
reassuring that this doctor didn’t seem outwardly worried. The way she made it sound, they had figured
out the perfect solution. Any natural inhibitions she may have had were no match against her desire to
keep her brother alive, anyway.

The next thing Aki remembered was a distinct, almost cold feeling, and being awake without being
able to see or hear or move. It was similar to the uncertain dread she got when she used to imagine her
brother never returning from his mission late at night, or thinking about her own death; a dark chill on
the back of her neck, except now it was less intense and all over her body. At first she felt the usual twinge
of fear in her chest, but after who knows how long she spent in the dark, she began to get used to it. It
wasn’t painful at least–

–at least, not until she did eventually open her eyes. A wave of discomfort washed over her at the sight of
the bright hospital room, but it faded after a few moments, leaving just the cold feeling, which itself was
starting to ebb away. It was quiet, though she could hear steady breathing to her left. With some effort,
she discovered she could move her arms and legs relatively normally, albeit with some numbness; she
tilted her head, looking over to see Sanjiro in the next bed over, asleep. Aki smiled, tilted her head back,
and closed her eyes again.

Tsukumogami

F9cs8mW.png
Name:
Gekkou
Description:
– Gekkou is a pale humanoid spirit with sections of cracked, fragmented skin that appear to be similar to broken pottery. They wear a stretch of dark cloth overtop of their bright, crystalline eyes as a blindfold, as well as a long, flowing monochrome robe with a red lining that nearly seems to pulse with a life of its own. As they are a Tsukumogami, an animate object linked with a living soul, they are never seen without the floating shards of mirror that bind them to the world of the physical. Though the fragments appear too clouded to reflect the world around them save for extremely low light, through them can always be seen a distinct reflection of the spirit itself, its colors and actions inverted. Much about Gekkou's outward demeanor is otherworldly as well- rather than walking, they often simply float a few inches off the ground, always with the shattered mirror looming over them.
Personality: – Befitting of their name and their status, Gekkou is nothing if not reflective. Often times they give the impression that they have forgotten how to speak (or never knew at all) as they pause for a usually uncomfortable amount of time before responding to a question, making anyone conversing with them wonder if they truly were just talking to a lifeless mirror after all. In truth they are simply considering the best words to use for the occasion- they prefer to keep their emotions distant and their choice of language formal. They also generally enjoy associating with humans, though they are much slower to show it than one would expect. The curse placed on the mirror they are bound to rarely affects their personality, but intense emotions can be occasionally amplified and spiral out of control thanks to the reflection of Gekkou, whose thoughts gain more independence the more strongly its counterpart feels.
History: – Gekkou's story began when an unknown shinobi crafted a malevolent plan to assassinate a feudal lord- they had placed a potent curse on a mirror, intending to present it as a treacherous gift. However, before their plot could unfold, fate intervened: the mirror was stolen and hidden away in a secluded cave in a counter-plot to foil the assassination, protecting the lord from the impending danger. Within the cave, time passed, and the forgotten mirror lay dormant, its malevolent energy contained but not nearly extinguished. As the years stretched on, the curse began to seep into the essence of the mirror, eventually awakening to conciousness a Tsukumogami spirit known as Gekkou. During their early days of sentience, Gekkou was found and aided by a group of shinobi who sought refuge in the cave; these shinobi recognized the mirror's danger and tried to mediate the curse's influence. For a time, Gekkou enjoyed a semblance of peace and company, but the shinobi's wariness of the mirror's potential danger led them to eventually depart, leaving Gekkou vulnerable to the growing curse's grip. Where they once could speak and move around their isolated room in the cave, the malevolence contained in the mirror eroded them to nothing more than a weeping statue, where they remained until the deepest regions of the cave were found once more. This turning point in Gekkou's history came with the arrival of Sugihara Aki, who, given very little information about the situation at hand, followed their first instinct to shatter the cursed mirror. While the curse's presence still lingered, the mirror's destruction somewhat alleviated its hold on Gekkou's spirit. Free from the constraints of the mirror's physical form, Gekkou could now roam the world with a newfound sense of freedom, though the curse's influence remained a part of their existence as the mirror followed them, an ever-present shadow.
Other info: – Neither Hivemind nor Gigantic
