Physical Description: Maiko was born with oculocutaneous albinism, which is a condition that effects the pigment in her hair, eyes, and skin. Given her condition, she was born with smooth and milky white skin accompanied by pure white hair and large eyes that are a very pale almost white blue color. At ten years of age, her skin has only darkened a minimum amount, and her hair has reached the small of her back (And is usually put into long braided pigtails) and she retains her large and curious eyes. Maiko is a small statured child, standing at the approximate height of 127cms. Although she is deemed healthy, her total weight is 27kgs. Her small body structure makes it difficult to find clothes that fit, so her clothing normally seems overly large on her frame.
Mental Description: Maiko is a child who prefers to listen rather than talk, so for the most part she is a very quiet child. Although she is mildly intelligent, she remains childlike in her actions and responses. Maiko has grown up without a family so she clings to those who she is close to. She is a friendly girl, and always tries to see the best in people. She takes immense pride in her obedience and manners, and tends to be a people pleaser. Maiko is a curious child and is eager to learn. She loves to read and learn about new things.
History: Sumida Maiko has grown up without a family. Her mother, Sumida Kanake, died in childbirth and her father, Sumida Shiro, wished for a boy so he immediately gave her up for adoption. Her years in the system did nothing for her, and she was never placed in a loving home like many of her fellow orphans. It was often that her condition was found weird and ugly, and has made her very self conscious of her coloring. She overheard the mention of the Shinobi Academy and was naturally curious, and her mind raced a mile a minute with questions and an eager desire to learn. She has always desired a place where she belongs, yet has never felt at home in any place she has been.
