Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Hisako had been put to the task of giving Chigokai Osuteno an exam to test his skills as a mednin. Kitsune had said something along the lines of ”It’s about time the kid gets a promotion.” and then told Hisako to do it. Of course, with Hisako being a walking medical lexicon, she was probably perfect for the task. If not for the fact that she had no idea on how to perform such an examination. Either way, she’d do her very best to test the kidling in medical knowledge, and perhaps a few other subjects as well.

After checking some of Osutenos usual places to be, such as the various wards seeing as some of the nurses had taken to using him as a cute thing to calm patients down – with no small amount of success either – Hisako finally went to the morgue. She entered the room soundlessly and saw Osuteno sitting at a desk with his back to her. He was likely doing paperwork, but as Hisako didn’t possess x-ray vision, she couldn’t see it. She stepped up to the kidling and greeted him in the customary fashion. ”Greetings, Osuteno-kun.” she said, giving a tiny smile. She had yet to learn how to fully show emotions, but she was getting there.

”I have been tasked with providing you an examination in medical skills, critical thinking, and other such aspects of a medical shinobis life.” she explained once he had calmed down from once again being surprised by an android. (Happens more often than you’d think.) ”Your file indicates that you have been ready for this examination for quite some time now. I hope you are up to the task ahead.”

Osu was having trouble finding any time to himself these days. Someone was always using him as a therapy doll or otherwise not taking him very seriously as a doctor. He was also having difficulty looking people in the eyes these days and was always training or studying when he wasn't working instead of important things like eating or sleeping. While still rather adorable he was becoming a gloomy looking little bastard.

And continuing on the theme of gloominess Osu was in his most common hospital hangout, the morgue, and doing his paperwork for the day. He had already performed inventory, as they called it down here, and had tagged all the new bodies. Spoke with a few of them too, though no way was he going to let anyone know he did that. While working Osu got an oddly ominous feeling right before Hisako spoke up. Half a second later his skin caught back up to him as he was hanging off the wall. Look at that smug little smile, she had to know she was scaring him half to death everytime she did that... Right?

"Hisako, please, start knocking or... did you just say I have an exam? ... That was unexpected. "Right now? As in my exam is starting and you are giving it? Well uh alright then?" Osu walked down the wall and stood in front of Hisako. "So how do we begin? The first part that is since this sounds like it has multiple sections."

Hisako nodded twice, in a textbook fashion. ”Yes. I did indeed say that. And yes, it begins right now. Follow me.” she said, gesturing towards the door, before walking out of the room. While she might have said that she would be providing an examination in medical skills and other such things, what she was really going to do was give Osu a proper medical combat situation. Hopefully he wouldn’t be too surprised when they wound up outside at the training grounds, facing each other. ”I have decided that your technical skills are sufficient for this examination, and have thus skipped the written test. Your actions during your S-rank mission also prove that your practical skills are at the required level for a medical shinobi.”

She raised an arm and pointed at one of the training dummies. It had been retro fitted to allow mednins to perform healing techniques on it, and had a built in ‘health meter’ so to speak. The first test would be to make sure the dummy got fully healed while Hisako threw distracting attacks towards him. Osuteno would need to exhibit critical thinking, and some form of ability with medical clones (or regular ones for that matter). ”Your task, Osuteno-dono. Is to heal this dummy to a full health meter, while avoiding my attacks. They will be electrical in nature, so if you get hit, your nerves will be affected, influencing your ability to perform well. They will be strong enough to fully affect your nervous system, but not enough to cause permanent damage. Prepare yourself.”

Osu followed Hisako without saying much. He was honestly surprised after all that his exam was starting clear out of nowhere. No time to prepare or study or... well... get nervous. Actually... This might have been a boon for him. He noticed quickly that they were not heading towards the classrooms and away from the surgery rooms. It didn't take him long to figure out they were heading to the training grounds. HIsako managed to surprise him once more however by explaining that he wouldn't be taking a written exam at all as well as not needing to take his practicals. HIs sole test was apparently going to be a combat medicine simulation.

Osu had heard of the dummies that would be part of this test but had never worked with one before. He then stared at his opponent. Hisako was, with very little doubt among the worst variety of opponent for him. She was both bloodless, which made a number of his techniques useless against her, and used electrical attacks which were rather annoying in their own right. Not to mention that he had seen her performance measures before and knew trying to fight her close quarters you be a ridiculous strategy for him. Still he had to show himself capable. It had been quite a long time since he had fought with someone capable of using chakra. He trained alone in the forest plenty, but his only fight as of late had been against pirates. Osu would have to be more... indirect in facing Hisako. Osu stared at Hisako, clenched and unclenched his fingers a few times and nodded.

"I am ready to begin."

Osu's fingers moved through several signs rather quickly and suddenly the training field was becoming filled with an extremely thick layer of fog. He had to become silent and focus. The medical doll wouldn't be moving around like a normal ally so it was easy to keep track of, hopefully unlike himself. His best chance at victory would be to make Hisako unable to hit him if possible. He was placing his bets on the hope that Hisako would have some difficulty hitting him. After all his job was simply survive and heal the dummy, not defeat Hisako head on. Actually that would be his job in the field anyway. A Mednin was never to fight on the front lines and needed to focus on avoiding hits and maintaining the conditions of their allies. He didn't need to waste time and chakra attacking her when he could be completing his task.

Hopefully Hisako wouldn't be able to him too hard on the first shot as he began running towards the dummy in a wide arc rather than a straight line. He was counting on his fog to make himself a harder target, but he didn't need to make her job easier with predictable movements. Once more his fingers ran through a set of handseals though not nearly as quick as the first set. If Osu managed to complete it, a medical clone would burst out of the fog and head straight for the dummy. Osu on the other hand hid himself deep in the fog and attempted to blend in with the background. Hopefully she would take the bait, but he wasn't entirely counting upon it. It mattered little whether or not she realized that the person running to the dummy was a medical assistant or not, what mattered more was if she knew where he was.

At this point he would have to decide whether or not if it was viable for him to continue playing hide and go seek with Hisako and work unseen or if he had to go a more direct route. He really hoped he wouldn't have to try a more direct route. Osu really disliked being direct. He always felt most comfortable in the supporting cast than the spotlight. Honestly though he needed to think, it might be best to make himself another ally to distract Hisako and draw her fire. Otherwise he was going to have some trouble relying on a medical clone to get anything done. Must be why it was generally considered foolish for a Mednin to be alone out in the field though some were strong enough to manage. He knew better than to think he was of that sort at all. He would just have to try and fight smarter.

Hisako took her stance some fifty meters away from the dummy and Osuteno. She charged the chakra emitters in her hands with electrical chakra. Given her status as an artificial person, she could change her elemental affinities on the fly, but for the purposes on this test, she’d stick to the lightning element. ”Begin!” she said loudly, and right as she said that, the entire training field became encased in a thick mist. The visibility levels dropped to that of a typical tavern pea soup, and Hisako raised a single eyebrow before tossing a ball of lightning towards where Osuteno had been located seconds prior.

Of course, she didn’t hit anything as Osuteno had already moved away from that spot and was already preparing his counter moves. Hisako herself was also preparing by charging up yet another electrical attack. If Osuteno listened he’d be able to hear the energy crackling in the air as Hisako tossed a series of lightning strikes at where she thought he was, at one time even hitting his left elbow, the electricity connecting to the nerves in the arm, basically making it numb for a while. Or would it? Hisako wasn’t entirely aware of what Osuteno was becoming, and possibly the charge wouldn’t be as effective.

Who knows what would happen later on? But at this stage, it seemed that Osuteno had the upper hand with his pea soup-like mist and Hisako would just have to do better. She raised her right leg up before letting it come crashing down onto the ground, sending out shockwaves of electricity towards the medical dummy. Surely Osuteno would be headed there, given that the target was a stationary one. Or was it? Technically, the dummy could be moved simply by lifting it off the wooden pole. A crafty foe would have activated another dummy and swapped the two. They had ID markers, so even if Hisako thought the dummy was the same, the ID marker would prove her wrong in that regard.

Osu had never been a big fan of lightning jutsu. Rather he didn't really care for the bright lights or the huge racket that came with it, It was very little surprise he had no talent for the stuff and he was perfectly fine with that. The bigger issue now was that it was raining down on him. His poor clone was getting the bulk of the attacks though, getting shocked let and right as it tried to make its way to the dummy. He had to do something to hinder Hisako or his clone wouldn't be able to get any work done. He had to change his strategy just a bit. Osu formed a new set of hands seals causing rain to begin pouring down. It wouldn't prevent Hisako from firing lightning at him, but it may force her to be a bit more careful of the possible backlash and not just firing randomly into the... He saw his clone get the dummy off the pole and began healing it before the clone got hit by a wave of electricity and locked up before it could do much healing.

Wings sprang from Osu's back as he continued hiding in the fog. Scaley crimson things far too heavy for him to dream of flying with. However they stretched upwards to the sky as if he were about to attempt just that. Higher they rose getting larger until they suddenly swung down ripping ludicrous amounts of blood from Osu forming a large dragon like construct that was his own special variation of the Steel Dragon technique. Out of the fog it flew and landed in front of Hisako with a mighty roar which Osu hoped would distract her as his clone shook itself, threw the dummy over its shoulder and began healing it again as it retreated.

From the shadows and fog Osu continued to observe trying to determine exactly how to go about distracting Hiskao so he could... Well there was one way but he felt it was not a very brave tactic. A hit to his pride from what might be perceived as an act of cowardice was a small price to pay for getting someone out of a situation alive In the meantime he had a kawarimi ready to switch with should Hisako manage to catch onto his ruse and figure out where he was. At least for a first hit... He wondered just how advanced Hisako's targeting equipment was...

Hisako sent ball after ball of lighting in the direction of the dummy in an attempt to hit Osuteno with it. ”Probability of Chigokai Osuteno-kun being located at the dummy: 86%.” she established and tossed out a barrage of cables towards that particular area before sending surges of high voltage, low amperage electricity through them, hoping they were close enough to jump from cable to Osuteno. Sadly, none of them hit, and the clone had already locked up and stopped moving at this point. Hisako decided that regaining visibility was her primary concern right now, so she heated up the atmosphere using her electricity to make the mist dissipate.

Sadly, what met her vision then was a bloody version of the Steel Dragon jutsu. ”Distraction technique probability: 94% - Course of action: Eliminate distraction.” Hisako uttered as she turned her attention to the bloody dragon and unleashed a figurative hell of lightning and storms upon it. Gale force winds, booming thunder and crackling lightning, the whole nine yards. Most of the lightning hit the dragon, but one struck very close to where the dummy was located, yet didn’t hit Osuteno or the dummy. Luckily for him, or he could’ve gotten fried. Or worse, failed his exam.

Upon dealing with the dragon, Hisako discovered that the mist had returned, reforming itself over time, giving her another pain to deal with. Unfortunately, at the same time, the dummy exuded a loud beep, signaling that it had been fully healed. Immediately Hisako stood down and retracted her cables and withdrew her mechanical bolt guns. Osuteno had dragged the fight out and managed to heal the dummy, he had truly beaten this test. ”Good work Osuteno-kun. You performed your job and healed the dummy target. This examination is now completed.” Hisako said, giving a stiff bow to Osuteno and then righting herself again.

”I am glad we did not have to perform actual combat against one another. That could have gone horribly wrong.” she said matter-of-factly, referring to the fact that Osu was a walking bloodbank that had somehow walked around on a broken leg without showing much pain, and that she herself was mechanical and without a strength inhibitor.

[Yep, this means you passed. Go get your new banner, Osuhat!]

Hisako... didn't really seem to care at all about the heavy rain he summoned... In fact she only seemed to use more lightning. That was rather dangerous to do as it became more unpredictable as to whether one would receive some backlash from their attacks. Thankfully... or technically unfortunately from the perspective of the exam, as that would have made his task easier.

Instead of waiting around for her to overcome his dragon though it would be for the best to go assist his clone in healing the dummy. With thunder and lightning painting a rather dramatic scene as it tore into his dragon with the heavy rain and reforming mist in the background, Osu and his medical clone pumped healing chakra into the dummy, even overcharging mystical force despite how inadvisable that was normally, though he would do the same in an actual fight if he didn't have the luxury of time, as the case now was. His medical clone was also doing as much as it could manage but he was growing more nervous as his dragon was torn down. Maybe he should unleash another one? Buy more time? Perhaps a Shadow Dragon would be more effective?

*BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP*

The suddenness of the noise shocked Osu. Come to think of it how much energy did it take to charge the thing? Hisako announced the test was over... Osu let go of a few techniques his wings turning into and orb of blood that began attracting the rest of it that scattered the area from his dragon, while the rain and for he created ceased and dissipated. He looked at his clone briefly before allowing it too to disappear.

Osu gave a odd bow in Hisako's direction and walked towards her not quite sure what to think. "Well, you never said fighting you was even part of the test, so I chose to avoid and distract you while I carried out the task you gave to me." He paused for a bit. "Do you really mean my exam is... over? Like was that... all?" It seemed rather... too good to be true. That would make him a full mednin. As in his own desk, not having to go do as much busy work or having to seek as many approvals for paperwork, he could devote more time to his own experiments, he could join in on the golf games... whatever golf was, he could maybe even go along with some of the other doctors now to go to this Miss Candi's place where they often went after work. She sounded really nice from the way they described her and her gentleman's establishment, and Osu definitely considered himself a gentleman and now had adult responsibilities to back up his claim to manliness. Yes a whole new range of opportunities were now open to him... What would he do now? Osu suddenly realized a rather large predicament.

"I don't really have any goals then... I... expected this would take a few more years so I don't really..." It was a few days short of two years, in fact, since he became a MiT. "Of course I will continue studying and research more, specialize further... It is already time to be thinking about applying for alternate division work..." He was just shy of eleven and yet he had all these decisions to start making. He could be sued now. Was he starting to hyperventilate? He placed an arm on Hisako as he tried to regain control of his breathing.
