General Description: Suzume is somewhat tall for her age and could easily pass for an older student were she not flat as a pancake (which is incidentally her favorite food). Her appearance is rather plain. Her soft brown hair is pulled back in a flowing ponytail at the nape of her neck, while two shorter locks are bound up with string and frame the sides of her lightly freckled face. Her honey-colored eyes are sly and often shadowed by the wide yellow headband she wears across her forehead.
Her outfit is characterized by the forest-green scarf that drapes over her shoulders and flows down her back in two long tails. This serves in part to conceal her face if need be, but mostly because it looks so cool when she's running. Her sleeveless yellow shirt bares her midriff and is emblazoned with the three green circles of her clan. A wide brown belt is worn diagonally across her hips and from it hang a wide assortment of containers for her ninja tools. Her shorts are tight and black, and hug her thighs halfway to her knees. Completing her outfit are long green and black ninja tabi and thick green arm warmers with yellow ribbon criss-crossing the fabric. A metal plate guards the back of both hands on each arm warmer.

History: The Moriko Clan has long existed within the Leaf in some incarnation or another. The legend within the Clan has it that they began as spirits of the forest who fiercely opposed the settling of original Leaf founders. They were seen by the Moriko as intruders who would poison their sacred land. For years the spirits haunted the Leaf in secret, subtly sabotaging their efforts and making certain those who strayed too far into the woods would never be seen again. But one day one of the leaders of the Leaf ventured into the forest with a message of peace. This act of bravery and diplomacy won the respect of the spirits, and they were invited to join the Leaf as the Moriko Clan. It is rumored that the head of the family posessed the transcriptions of the conversation between the Leaf founder and the Moriko, and the deal that they had made. The Moriko Clan specializes in stealth, espionage, and non-elemental jutsu (most notably sealing, transformation, and summoning techniques).
Suzume is the only child of Moriko Fudoki and Moriko Kon, the current head of the Clan. Being an only child, her parents placed all of their hopes and ambition squarely on her shoulders, a fact which Suzume greatly resents. Her father had sustained severe injuries in the line of duty, and has since retired and focused his attention on his daughter. Her parents are rigid and unyielding where Suzume was involved. Drills and exercises were routinely scheduled for her, and tutors were hired to fill up her remaining time. Shows of love and pride were rare and hard won, while criticism and disappointment were regular occurrences.
As time passed Suzume became more defiant of her parents' wishes and less inclined to show up to practice. She would argue and be punished only to sneak away to spend some time in the village. Being away from home made her feel incredibly liberated and free knowing that she was outside of the watchful gaze of her parents. She could go anywhere and do anything she liked. Of course, somebody would eventually try to come after her, but evading them proved to be a far more effective training method than her boring lessons. Despite her defiance, Suzume really does want to become a great ninja and make her parents proud, she just wants to do it in her own way. And now that she's finally old enough to be enrolled in the Ninja Academy she might just get her wish.
Suzume is generally a quiet person, but can easily become argumentative and confrontational if she thinks she's in the right. Though she's not mean-spirited, Suzume is hardly a saint and isn't above using blackmail and bribery if it will get her what she wants. Her rebellious spirit makes forbidden places and activities all the more enticing to her, and will often attempt to do them despite what trouble she might get into. She especially enjoys sneaking around unnoticed to eavesdrop on peoples' conversations.
