Satsugai has long, jet-black hair with a bit of a bluish tint, except for a large portion of her bangs and the tips of her hair, which are a dark maroon color. Her bangs fall messily over her forehead, and cover her left eye completely at their longest. Her eyes are a pale emerald green and her skin is also rather pale. She almost always has a slight smirk on her lips, regardless of what she's doing.
She has multiple tattoos, including a strange violet design over her left eye that begins above her brow in a lightning bolt shape and ends in a scythe’s curve below her eye, with two small triangles below it. Her other tattoos include kanji on the inside of her wrists, 力 (power; chikara) on the right and 勇気 (courage; yuki) on the left, as well as 死 (death; shi) on the front of her throat and 虐殺 (slaughter; gyakusatsu) on her right cheek.
Her normal outfit consists of a quarter-sleeve gray top that exposes her stomach, a dark red skirt over black leggings, and simple black sandals, sometimes accompanied by a thick white cloak to fight off the cold. Satsugai has three piercings, one in each ear and one on her tongue. She wears an amulet that she found in the gutter one day, a circle pendant with a downwards triangle inside. She considers it a good luck charm but does not know if it has any meaning.
Personality:
Satsugai is ruthless, vicious, temperamental, and manic, both a sadist and a masochist. To her, cruel or morbid actions most would cringe at are only humorous. She has no compassion at all for other people, and the extent of her sympathies go only as far as being able to discern what pains and scares another person. She has a sharp but unstable mind, and views herself as a murderer for her role in her mother's death. This self-loathing but simple mindset has created a distinctive mentality in Satsugai. She thinks of herself as only able to kill; therefore, her ability has become her purpose, and she finds pleasure and satisfaction in fulfilling that purpose. Her strange fascination with blood and her rough upbringing only contribute to this outlook, and she has grown increasingly fixated in her mindset as the years have passed. Now, with the opportunity to indulge her violent tendencies, she may yet become utterly psychotic.
On the other hand, Satsugai has one person she loves and is devoted to: her twin brother Uji. Perhaps the only outlet for any of her positive qualities, Satsugai displays a deft, sarcastic wit, unwavering loyalty, and a certain sisterly benevolence with her brother. Uji is the only person you'd find her having long, in-depth, logical discussions with, pulling mischievous pranks on, or generally showing any affection towards; and when she becomes enraged or otherwise has a depressive or manic fit, he is the only one that can reign her in.
Satsugai has no respect for the authority nor concern for the power of any individual. She is reckless, almost to the point of fearlessness, and wouldn't care if anyone threatened her life. She does not have a sense of loyalty to her village or its ideals, and she does not feel protective of anyone, man, woman, or child; even Uji will not see her become defensive of him unless he is in extreme danger. Satsugai is driven only by her function as a killer and, oftentimes, by Uji's designs; she is, more than anything, a barely-contained beast, and her brother holds the chain.
History:
Prior to her birth, Satsugai’s mother had been carrying fraternal twins, a boy and a girl. However, during birth, Satsugai’s chakara grew unstable and started lashing out. As a result, her twin brother was nearly killed in the womb, and their mother nearly died as well. In order to save her babies, their mother used all her chakra in order to heal and stabilize the twins, dying in the process. Satsugai has harbored immense grief, regret, and self-hatred ever since for killing her mother; and, as a result, the twins’ father despised and abandoned both children.
For the first few years of her life, Satsugai lived in an orphanage with her brother, Uji. Hating the place, they later ran away, living as urchins within the city. Years passed, and they developed a ruthless reputation among the other discarded denizens of the streets. As they grew up, Satsugai frequently experienced episodes of extreme mania or depression, often lashing out, briefly forgetting people, and behaving hostile and destructively violent. Uji was the only one who could talk her down from these bouts, and Satsugai grew to trust him implicitly as her "controller", so to speak. Frequently, Uji would use Satsugai's bloodlust and psychotic tendencies to further either their or his goals. Satsugai and Uji never spared each other any pain, nor tried to, but they always supported one another in their brutal efforts to survive.
One day, a traveling merchant and his wife arrived in Kumogakure and purchased a shop there. The man, Tameike Yurei, caught the twins trying to steal from him. He was kindly and in need of help, and did not seem to mind their thuggish appearance. Instead of punishing them, he took them in, adopting them and registering them at the Shinobi Academy where they would have a better outlet for their psychopathy.
Both twins were eager to work hard at the Academy. Satsugai loved fighting, and though always seemed to have a bit of an unhinged edge, she embraced her deranged nature. Umi, Satsugai’s adoptive mother, once suggested that she learn to become a Medic in school; but Satsugai rejected, saying that, “These are not a healer’s hands. These are hands for killing.” Satsugai predominantly aims to be a Main branch or ANBU shinobi, and has an odd obsession with blood.
