Uji is mature beyond his years, cold, calculating, and incredibly ruthless. Years of brutality while working alongside his sister to stay alive, to protect each other, and to manipulate their circumstances to get them where they are now have made Uji what most would consider heartless. The young Student wouldn’t think twice of selling out those he has made think are his closest friends. Working to pit other urchins, students, or superiors against one another has become second nature to him. Every action he takes is carefully constructed to be of the greatest benefit to him.
Perhaps the coldest aspect of his personality is his willingness to use his own sister’s derangements to his own ends. As children they developed a brutal reputation, and an example of how twisted Uji is, and how far he would unleash his sister: when they were children, rumors abounded when a man known as a lecher stumbled from an alleyway, his hands cut off and tied by strings around his neck, and his eyes gouged out. Many urchins held no suspicions as to who it was that had done it. The twins had proven more than once that they would respond without limit to those who crossed them.
Uji has no loyalty towards anyone who isn’t of use to him. Friendships are currency, love is a game, and servitude only extends as far as the protection it offers to him and his sister. The only thing that comes close to a feeling of belonging or ownership is his relationship with his sister. He considers her his only ally, and as of yet has never found anyone else who understands or appreciates him for his talents as much as she does.
General Description: Similar to his sister, Uji is pale-skinned, has pale green eyes, and long dark hair. However, it is streaked through with white from the shock of his near-death at birth, and following the more traditional style of the cloud villages Samurai he wears it in a tight topknot. He has tattoos of kanji depicting the values he holds closest to him, (Power) 権力on his throat, (Deception) 歪曲 on his tongue, and (Wrath) 怒気 down his inner right forearm.
He wears an ensemble similar to a martial arts uniform, dressing in a dark silver haori jacket over dark, slate gray hakama pants, tied with a red obi sash. He wears simple sandals.
History:
Before his birth, Uji’s mother carried twins, but during their birth Uji’s sister became unstable, her chakra flaring uncontrollably and nearly killing Uji and their mother. Their mother used all of her available Chakra to heal Uji and calm her daughter, her final actions saving her children, but she was lost to them. Their father, ashamed and disgusted by the loss of his wife, became self-loathing and detached from his children. Finally, in an act of desperation, he abandoned them both, casting aside his honor and going on to claim they had both died.
Uji and Satsugai were raised in an orphanage for the first few years of their lives. Uji’s health recovered over time, and once they felt they could travel safely the twins left the orphanage to live on their own. Life as urchins wasn’t terrible for the two children, as both of them developed a reputation of ruthlessness that meant they were left alone. After a few years, a merchant by the name of Tameike Yurei and his wife Umi set up a small shop within the merchant district. During one of their many thefts, Uji and Satsugai were caught by Yurei and instead of punishing the children, he offered them a place in his home and to enroll them into the Shinobi Academy to put their anger towards better uses.
