Yomi sat in her office panting and looking at the clock. It seemed the contractions happened much more closely much quicker than she had anticipated. Of course, there were no constants or guarantees in her case, since she was already behind schedule. Mikasa couldn’t force her to come in for an induction, so, everyone just hoped Yomi didn’t die between now and whenever she decided to have these children. It didn’t matter though, she believed that they would come when they were ready, and, it seemed they were ready right now.

The sirens were blaring at a nauseating decibel as the Secretary ™ , had burst into her office, no doubt ready to update her on the situation. Yomi looked at the woman with furrowed brows and put her hand up, not letting her speak.

“Please, whatever it is, see to it that Takeshi and/or Kenshin take care of it. Call the hospital and have the Medical Chief prepare for my arrival. Then inform Asuka that she is too meet me there.” Yomi grunted as another contraction passed before she stood. The Secretary gave a wide-eyed expression but nodded dutifully and ran off. Yomi smoothed out her dress as she made the slow trek to the office of the special adviser.

The Hokage lightly knocked on his door, hoping that he had not run off towards whatever danger was now overtaking Konoha, because, she did not want to do this without him. After all, he had been with her the entire time, ensuring that her needs were met, even while he neglected his own in the process.

“Tamashii…” She said as she opened his door to look at him. “The babies are coming…”

The trek to the hospital was slow seeing as she needed to stop every so often to let the pain pass. It was fine, though, since she thought it gave Mikasa enough time to get a room ready for her unannounced visit. As they arrived, Asuka had arrived ahead of them, bag of things ready. She took up the opposite side of Tamashii and interlocked her fingers with Yomi's as she smiled. She squeezed her and lightly in reassurance, knowing words were not needed to be said between them.

A non-descript nurse, guided the three to the room which was prepped for Yomi’s arrival. Asuka handed Tamashii the bag and looked at him with a beaming smile. This may have been the first time he saw her properly emote.

“Wait here!” She stated excitedly as she then dismissed the nurse before gently closing the door to help Yomi get her gown on. Once dressed she opened the door and ushered Tamashii inside, taking the bag from him.

Yomi was busy pulling her hair back as the man entered. She winced and got through it before she spoke to him.

“Will you stay for this?” She asked with a hopeful look. Truthfully, she didn’t know what he would say, but, she hoped he agreed.

Sirens blared but he was a retired shinobi at this point. He'd not practiced in some years but he could still unlock a gate when he needed to speed up travel. At any pace, he would manage to finish his paper works. Knowing that Akumi, Kenshin, or Takeshi would handle the alarms. There seemed to be many of them on this day. He didnt care especially with how things were going in his life. How could he feel? How did he feel after a dinner with Yomi, days had passed and nothing was officially said between them, but tensions rose like the champagne bottle's explosion. Tamashii was shook, but he kept his composure, he was ready for his daily dose of stardust when he heard the knock on the door. Tossing the small dose info his coat pocket he would stand up straight in a manner that would surmise he was hiding something... but alas she would not take that hint.

Yomi stood, breathing slowly, sweat seemingly falling from her brow, and she simply said, "The Babies are coming...", instantly the man would flare up with silent excitement, these were the children of Umashi and Yomi, they would be descendants of royalty in many ways. Twins! Tamashii would leap from the opposing side of his desk and he'd grab the secret stash of clothes he'd setout for her especially since she had told him and he's seen how pregnant she was. Umashi wasnt here, more so like he couldnt be here... it was definitely not something that he would want to wait on, and Yomi couldnt hold it any longer. So he would guide her to the hospital, and to see how poised she was it would definitely be a spectacle to be said that she would keep her composure like she did.

"Hee Hee Woooo~ Remember your breathing.", nodding he would find that she was already doing this. She was ready and she was about to give birth to two of the bright shining and future shinobi in the village. Maybe they would be Hokage, or Sennin? Tamashii wouldnt live to see it but the idea was special enough that Tamashii held back his own thoughts until this was all done. Meeting up with Asuka it would seem that the trio would be together on a first name basis alot. Seeing that they all would have some sort of character development within the group.

"Let me know if you need me to grab anything..." Tamashii would smile as the nurses and doctors came to and fro. Tamashii didnt know much and didnt have alot of medical knowledge. However, nodding he would manage something else... Maybe now. Maybe he could change his stars? Maybe he didnt have to give everything up for the sake of his own selfishness? Maybe he would... be able to help guide these children into their worlds of royalty. He could be the God Father of these children? They would need a male figure in their lives... especially with Umashi not able to be around.

Surging forth, Mikasa presses past every able body in the hospital wing, not wishing to be distracted from the events that were to unfold. The medical chiefs summoning had been an expected circumstance she long prepared for, pressing forward the palms of her hands upon the door to set them ajar. Two central emotions filled the air, joy and that of dread, gloom. Every fiber of the maiden's body soaked in the state of those in the room, doing her utmost to fixate on the initial. Mikasa's platinum mane was neatly braided, Lord Umashiashikabihikoji's ivory medical coat adorns her shoulders, "I apologize, I rushed over as soon as I heard." she murmurs, chest heaving and a slight flush upon her cheeks to indicate the pace she took to arrive.

For a mere moment in time, the medical chiefs azure gaze settles against Tamashii's, halting beside the superior, "After this we need to speak." she comments, not enjoying the foul vibe leaking from his frame that only one with her emotional readings would understand. Never the least, he was not state of importance as Lady Yomi demanded total attention due to her current situation. "Please, allow me to settle you down. I need to view the state of the children." she becomes a bit more serious, though truth to be told she had never performed an operation of this degree prior; unsure if she should be revealing this particular shred of information within possible moments of birth.

Dismissing the thought, Mikasa aids Yomi to the best of her abilities, extending her hand outwards to attach a chakra thread to the medical stand, forcefully dragging it towards her with a bit more 'umph' than required. Fortunately, the expensive equipment wouldn't crash against the shiny hospital tile, a nervous grin is given to the pair as she swiftly settles her digits upon the gown of the Konohagakure head figure. Daintily her fingertips trudge along her stomach to determine the general position, already have done numerous scans throughout the past nine months. "Good news, at least one is posterior position!" she pauses to give a hopeful grin, "Bad news, the other may be far more painful. Think of this as nothing more than performing a jutsu from your . . . . well, you know where." she continues before adding a bit more information, "A really large jutsu. Suiton perhaps? Though judging you, I dare say doton." she is unsure if her analogy is hitting home, but one plopping out a chunk of stone was humerus; the medical chief spreading her hands apart to give a vivid approximation.

Waving her hands frantically she apologizes in her own way, settling down into her usual swivel stool to peek under the gown of the Hokage, "I'm going to determine what dilation your cervix is currently in." Mikasa's head nearly disappears, giving some privacy from Tamashii, soon to withdraw her head and a light. "Nearly seven centimeters, just a few to go." she summarizes with a thumbs-up, doing her utmost to mask her lack of experience of delivering children.

In a manner of speaking, being dead was hard. As soon as the threat had ended, shinobi poured into the closed off zone in order to start looking for survivors and no doubt for the mysterious figure who’d been fighting the large Dark Phoenix. Overhearing a conversation between two nearby shinobi, Umashi quickly realized that many believed that it was he that had fought the creature due to the fact that they’d seen him initially battling the creature at the gates. What surprised him however was the fact that they spoke about the event in terms of happening nearly a year ago. While he was aware of the fact that time had passed by far more quickly for him than it had for them, a year having gone by was something that he wasn’t expecting. Hearing the cry of the baby tucked in his arm, Umashi lifted the flap of cloth covering her face in order to check in on her condition.

Her skin clammy and her pulse weakening, Umashi by way chakra breathed life into the girl to color her cheeks. Though it was readily apparent to his trained eyes that it was working, he could tell that it wasn’t a permanent fix. As far as he could figure, the fact that his powers came via the light and the fact that the girl was partially a host to the parasitic dark, as much as he was helping to keep her alive, he was also killing her. What the girl needed was someone versed in something that Umashi couldn’t actually do, heal via dark chakra. Out of all the medics available in the village, the only person that Umashi believed and could trust that could do such a thing was his wife, Yomi. If he had been gone nearly a year and Yomi was pregnant when he left then surely she would have had the child and gone back to work by now, or so he believed. Even if she was back home then the hospital would be the best place to figure out her whereabouts.

It was no doubt thanks to his disheveled look that no one bothered to inquire as to who the old looking man was that was walking with the covered bundle in his arms. In fact, Umashi didn’t make it any easier for any would be shinobi present to track him thanks to his use of Sage art skills. Now able to manipulate the world around him to his whim, if a given path led to a dead end, he would simply will a door to appear and walk right through it. A hack of a trick, out of the fear of being stopped and questioned, Umashi quickly traversed his way out of the initial battle zone and towards the village hospital. Even though he was able to continually feed the girl chakra, it was obvious that her partial nature as the new host of the Dark Phoenix would need the touch of someone who was able to provide the needed nourishment that her body desired.

Having grown use to not having the sights, smells and sounds of Konoha in his life, Umashi found himself wanting to become distracted by the rush of life around him. The daily hustle and bustle that he so quickly avoided was what endeared him to the village that he called home. Pausing a moment in a dark alley, Umashi looked around to make sure that he wasn’t being trailed before he ducked into another shady direction. Though he couldn’t quite put his finger on it, his ability to sense life was drawing him closer to the hospital with every step. True, he both did and didn’t expect Yomi to be there at the hospital but whatever was there; whoever was there, like the smell of fresh baked goods, something was just as much pulling him in that direction as he was willing to go. In record time Umashi manage to find himself standing before the hospital and the pull towards the building was at this point magnetizing to his senses. Catching his reflection on the glass of the door, Umashi almost recoiled at the sight of himself. Clearly needing a haircut, his beard needing to be trimmed and sporting clothes that were for lack of a better word a mess, the doors automatically opened and the sight that greeted him was as much chaos as it was a welcome sight.

The smell of sterilization, air conditioned floors and medics running around reminded him of the life that he loved. Taking a step in however, Umashi was initially greeted by the sight of who he recognized as the Hokage Mansion secretary but then he was stopped, almost rather forcefully by masked shinobi whom he didn’t recognize.
“Sorry sir, there’s a lockdown on the hospital right now. Unless you have a life threatening issue, you’ll have to come back later.” Opening his mouth to speak, for some reason Umashi found that his vocal cords weren’t working as quickly as they should have been. Looking down at the bundle tucked into his arms, Umashi recognized that the time for hiding who he was was over and he started to speak when the familiar voice of his secretary spoke up. “Is that . . . let him in.” Looking up to see her questioning but still somewhat understanding face, she quickly ushered him towards her direction and stopping only to look down at the child in his arms, she began to walk towards the elevator shaking her head all the way.

“You pick a fine time sir . . . I . . . Umm . . . the Lady Hokage just went into labor. I’d congratulate you but I’m pretty sure that I’ll quickly be setting up funeral plans for you, all the same.” Stepping into the elevator, the woman continued to shake her head despite the tell-tale sign that she was holding back tears. Deadpanning, Umashi blinked, trying to process all that was happening. Yomi . . . in labor? That was what one might consider a medical impossibility for humans. Nine months, perhaps a week or two late tops, but, unless his math was off, if he was gone and they hadn’t had relations in close to a year then Yomi had carried their child far longer than term. Had she waited for him? It was only the stirring and short cry of the baby girl in his arms that shook him from this thinking. Looking over at the questioning eyes of his secretary, her damning gaze spoke volumes. She believed the child in his arms was his. The scene played out in slow motion as the bell indicated their requested floor was soon coming up. As the doors opened she shook her head and started to walk towards the labor room. If her reaction was anything to go by, he’d definitely have a lot of explaining to do.

OOC: So far as Umashi knows, Yomi was pregnant with one child, not twins.

A technique, also known as Inorganic Reanimation, allows the user to figuratively breathe life into the land around them by directly taking control of Natural Energy, or infuse it into things without it such as the earth. In either case, this gives the user the capability to make even drastic alterations to their immediate environment that occur both suddenly and unexpectedly. The environment itself is an Archsage's ally.

Yomi frowned. It was no one's fault but her own that she was this dilated with no medicine, and now it was far too late to take any, yet it didn't annoy her any less. The energy in the room ranged from nervousness to excitement and all the woman could do was lie there and try not to die. Yomi breathed as Tamashii reminded her, the lack of sleep over the months, was suddenly hitting her at once and it was all she could do in order not to cry.

Asuka watched for a bit before she excused herself from the room to go get some of that amazing hospital ice for Yomi to partake in. She did not need Yomi to say anything for her to know she could use some. Upon exiting, she nearly bumped right into Umashi. She apologized before she looked at him. The recognition was slow but when it clicked she stared for far longer than she should have. This allowed the Secretary to make her great escape before the proverbial shit hit the fan - she wanted no parts. Asuka moved her mouth to speak as the sudden coo of the baby that Umashi was carrying caused her to raise a brow.

"The audacity..." Asuka sad, in that familiar even tone of hers. She, pulled the door closed behind her, to keep the people in the room in and Umashi out. The woman didn't wait for him to respond before she put up her hands to stop him.

"I...you...."Asuka inhaled deeply trying to find the right words to say because all she wanted to do was choke the life out of him. The only thing that stopped her was the fact that they were in a brightly lit space. The baby then started to cry causing the woman to push him.

Through clenched teeth she hissed at her brother-in-law. "What the fuck is that?! Why the fuck are you here?!" Normally composed the sight of him coupled with the sounds of a baby enraged her. She peeked under the covering and saw the baby which looked to be from somewhere off the caffeine coast. Shaking her head she turned from him and covered her face with her hands trying to gather herself. Hano Asuka was not beneath killing him or that baby he was holding, but, this was not the time. Not bothering to look at him she shook her head.

"Your WIFE, is in there giving birth to YOUR kids after you've been GONE doing WHATEVER and you show up with a what? An oops baby? You are disgusting and I hope I get to watch you die."

Asuka put her hand on the handle and opened the door, leaving it slightly ajar for him to enter or not, depending on what he decided. He'd be mindful of entering should she bust him upside the head. After all this was probably the most he had ever heard her speak. She was more of a silent observer, but, not today. It's always the quiet ones.

She entered the room and took advantage of Yomi's delicate state by telling her that the ice machine was being fixed and that she'd check in a little while to get more. Yomi groaned but nodded as she held on to Tamashii's hand. Asuka stood in the cut quietly, looking like she was plotting something sinister while Yomi spoke to the Medical Chief.

"Well we can push one...and see if the other turns? A manual turn might be in order...but...I'm not interested in that." She shook her head at the thought as the pain she was already feeling was not going to be lessened if Mikasa had to do that. Yomi squeezed Tamashii's hand, utilizing her God strength, as she powered through another contraction.

"Mikasa please check me again. They have to come out of me...I don't want them inside here anymore. Get them now!" She cut her eye at poor Mikasa who was no doubt doing her best. She let out a whimper as she looked to Tama.

"I hate this...NEVER again."

This moment was supposed to be the special one. Tamashii was actually having fun, he was sure that this was going to be a moment he would cherish for years. Did anyone in this room know that Tamashii had wanted a family of his own? Did anyone even know the thoughts that ran through this man as he looked around? Coaching Yomi through her breathing and sitting in the corner of his mind to be here, he could have very well been escorted out like everyone that wasnt meant to be in here. But Yomi and Asuka had allowed him to be apart of this family? Mikasa didnt seem to care but, when she entered the room she looked at him. Almost as if digging through the files of his mind, his secrets... everything. 'Does she know?' he had to shake that thought for now. It wasnt about him. It was about the birth of children. A moment that was supposed to be beautiful. The beginning of a family. The Beginning of a new life. Tamashii could feel his own thoughts rumbling, thinking back to when he was a child himself. How is father played with him and taught him jutsu, helped him learn about the man he was growing up to be. These children would not have the chance of that. They would not have the father in their lives... Much like when he lost his father at the age of five years old. No Child, shinobi or not, should feel that pain.

And now he felt depressed, hurt, and sick to his stomach. How the pain that coursed through his veins would be nothing compared to the life long oppression that these children would go through. This pain was deeper, more rooted to the psyche of what would drive these children to grow up to become. Tamashii had a different ideal for them, maybe as he was the advisor to the crown, he could coach these children? No. They werent his, and he could not step into a position that he was not groomed or bred for. He was a man that wasnt built for a family it seemed, he was never blessed enough to have it. Everyone died, or left him because of his shortcomings in the mentality department. He was always so detached because of his job as an ANBU for so long. Never allowed to be himself, and now... he who was not himself was comfortable being that man. Alone. Just like these children would be... but then again Yomi was competent enough to raise them, they had Asuka as well, and Mikasa would be there for the check ups right? Another group that no longer needed Tamashii after today...

Alas, depression was a sickness that was hard to shake... but one Tamashii had a secret to not feeling anything at all so why did it matter? The roaring of commotion outside the door would shake him in thought for the moment, but Yomi's grip on his hand and the crackling of the bones from the middle of his hand effectively detaching his middle finger from his hand under his skin. He didnt scream but grunted as the pain caused his tan skin to turn bright crimson. Even his knees felt weak and trembled but they would not give just yet. he had to make sure that Yomi would survive this, and Asuka would be alright with whomever she was giving the business to outside the door.

"Yo-AH! YOMI! Its going to be okay, just stay calm... Uhm... Who is, Wait... Nevermind that just focus on this room. This MO-ment... Alright? One at a time...you got this.", he'd say as his hand was being literally crushed under the weight of Yomi's Clutch. Yup... he had no hand after this.

To turn a child about in the womb was not an item the Medical Chief had ever experienced, though to mention to the superior of the village this tid bit of information was not recommended. Never the least Mikasa nods her head, unsure of the proper method of external cephalic version, only had brushing up on the technique through text alone, "We will have to do so after the first is birthed." she murmurs, mentally preparing herself for the scene about to unravel before her. Withdrawing for a moment the maiden places a surgeon mask upon her face to proceed with the norm of thoroughly washing her hands and gloving.

Tenderly her digits falter against synthetic prostaglandin, a tool utilized to increase the dilation overall speed, Mikasa gently lifting the gown to proceed. "You might feel an odd sensation." she murmurs, inserting the object to inflate a balloon-like item. Retracting her hands the kunoichi weaves a set of hands seals, "Doton: Doryūha.." Earth Style: Earth Flow Wave, a momentary pause, "Kidding." she chuckles before readying herself for the increasing amount of contractions Yomi were about to go through and unfortunate for Tamashii he would more than likely lack a proper hand by the end of the ordeal.

Taking precautions, Mikasa gently lifts the mask to expose her lips for a moment, "Suiton: Doryūha no jutsu." Water Prison, though of a different level, a sphere of water escapes and lands beneath the medical chiefs form, worst case scenario to cushion the fall; not that she aimed to do so, but precautions were never a horrible item to account for.

Unknown to her the former Hokage had arrived on the scene outside of the door, not a concern to her. Lowering the mask once more, Mikasa positions herself, "All on you, Lady Yomi. You can continue to grip Tamashii's hand, I'm sure it will aid somehow." she gives a thumbs up before locking her gaze. "You can do this, just push!" she exclaims, as if this were truly an easy feat.

In a manner of speaking Umashi was both completely embarrassed about the situation and on the other hand completely dumbfounded as to the reason that anyone would have a reason to be angry at him. The embarassement came in from the fact that he simply wanted to be the sort of husband, father and Hokage that would be there for those that needed him, when they needed him the most. If was never his intent to leave Yomi or his children high and dry but as the Hokage he’d received a call to duty and he hadn’t the ability to say no.

Yet, as much as he could understand the funny looks, on the other hand he had to question what more they wanted from him. He was the Hokage and sometimes the Hokage had to make the hard decisions. Was it right for him to selfishly put the village and possibly the country’s wellbeing at stake for the sake of being with his family? If someone had to ask him, he’d have to honestly answer that he’d do it all over again. Yomi had known from the moment that she’d agreed to be with him that his duty to the people was just that, a duty, and to ask anything less than that wouldn’t be fair on her part.

True, his family was as much a part of the village as anyone, but the naysayers and opportunist would sooner burn his legacy down to the ground than to allow him a moment of confusion as to which came first. In a way, Umashi easily reasoned that his going along with the Phoenix on the night before his wedding while painful, was exactly the right move to make. Yomi was strong, and she had strong people surrounding her to support her. There were simply just as many reasons to have gone as there were to have stayed. The mantle of the Hokage was one that never lent itself to easy choices.

As Asuka left him there in his feelings, the inner conflict that Umashi had wasn’t helped by the clear indication that the beacon like draw that he had towards the hospital was because of her labor. How or why, he couldn’t explain but know what he ought to do and actually doing it were two different things. Mentally troubled as he was, the stirring of the child in his arms once again nudged him towards making a decision and making it quick. Unlike Umashi she hadn’t made any decisions and yet she’d been born on a day and in a place where the cards that she was dealt weren’t kind. As she continued to cry and her crying got louder, Umashi shook his head at the futility of waiting for things to changed and walked through the door into the room.

His vision doubling for a moment, looking around the room at all who were gathered, he found himself not able take in their judgmental looks and looked towards the counter instead. As peculiar as the moment might have seemed, on the counter, as if sent by the Sage himself, sat a small mokuton sprite munching away on a snack of some sort. Umashi paused just long enough to make the double take before it disappeared, but it was all the assurance that he needed. As tough and as tense as the moment might have seemed, there was and could be a hope that this would eventually be a minor bump in the road.</COLOR>

<COLOR color="grey">

Or at least that was how Umashi wanted to interpret it. The sprite could have simply been a reminder that even the beings beyond this reality were enjoying seeing the Hokage squirm. The little girls crying again brining him out of his mental aloofness, Umashi straightened up his walk as he tried to calm her as best as he could.
“Hello, love . . .” Speaking first to Yomi,Umashi choose not to linger too long on the sight of Tamashii holding Yomi’s hand. Taking the higher road, Umashi announced his intentions and his focus. “I know that I’ve got a lot of explaining to do and I assure you that it will come, right now my focus is making sure that my wife and children make it through this alive and well and then seeing that this child receives medical care all the same.” Without being deterred, Umashi moved break apart whatever little union or pact was there between Yomi and Tamashii by way of moving to be beside Yomi in the place of the Sennin. Although it was a relief that the closer that the child in his arms got to Yomi, the less she seemed to cry, Umashi also was purposeful in his nonverbal indication that it was best if Tamashii put some distance between himself and Yomi.

Yomi heard the pop more than she felt it. Or maybe she felt the sound? She broke the poor man’s finger. She whimpered as she looked at him and apologized by utilizing her medical know how to heal him. As per usual, in favorable company, she decided she did not need to pretend to use handseals to establish this feat, for it was her power as a Goddess that allowed her to heal Tamashii.

Finally verbalizing it, she gave him a small smile. “Sorry…”

Mikasa made a joke trying to ease the situation, however it caused the woman to have a momentary freak out. Not the intention of the Medical Chief, but, it happened none the less. Her attention was pulled from Mikasa towards the door that she had heard forcefully close. Her eyes fell upon Asuka, who had pushed the door closed, bringing everyone’s attention to the new arrivals in the room.
sub-buzz-6610-1469725689-1.png

Umashi…

He greeted her as if it was a normal day where they had woken up beside each other. Like he just came back from grabbing bread from the market. Like he had not been gone for close to a year. The Hokage just stared, interlocking her fingers with Tamashii’s as she listened to the cry of a baby that she did not birth.

She looked at him and so many things came to mind, but, all were less of a concern than that child that he held in his arms. Even the fact that his eyes were no longer the familiar green she longed to see. Things had changed indeed, but, there was no telling if it were in a good or bad way.

Like the man that she had known him to be he bulldozed his way in making demands of Tamashii like he ran anything, trying his hardest to break the two of them apart. Yomi swallowed hard and grunted through another contraction, slamming her fist on the bed. As he gathered herself, she knew time was limited before she was to be interrupted again by the agonizing pain so she kept it brief.

“As the Hokage your sudden presence here disturbs me and I find myself questioning your reasons for being here now. I feel you are a security risk. The last time you appeared a child died. I will not have these new children threatened by your presence.

As the Medical Sennin, I’d remind you that, besides the person giving birth, there are only two guests allowed in the room when someone is giving birth. It is a safety concern. Currently, Asuka and Tamashii are my guests.

As your Wife, I simply do not want you here.”

He was lucky she was not in a state to stand up.

“I can have security remove you from the premises, if you prefer.” On that note Asuka silently dipped out of the room to go get that security.

Tears began to build up in her eyes, partly from the pain she was in, partly from the fact that Umashi appeared and mostly because she was so mad at him. And because she knew him, she knew Umashi was going to test her by staying here with her, but, it would not go over well for him.

She held on to Tamashii for dear life as another contraction over took her. In the back of her mind she wondered why Umashi was doing this to her now. Again. But as Mikasa said it was time to push, and so she did.

Kenshin was returning from teaching a class when he heard that security was summoned at the request of the Hokage. Kenshin took off like a shot. He made his way to the hospital which he loathed but that is where she was. It seems like the babies were due.

Kenshin steeled himself as he entered and tried not to throw up as he smelled the hospital smell. He gagged a moment and then pushed forward. He made a beeline for the room to find...

Umashi.

Yomi was currently in disposed and gave a very clear order. Kenshin remembered her words to him when he reported to her last time about Umashi.

"The lady said you should leave, sir." Kenshin would say simply his eyes staring at Umashi. "WE can wait outside." Kenshin would open the door and gesture towards the doer a clear indication.

In that moment, Mikasa came to the realization that Lady Yomi held onto the titles of far too many Senin positions, such an item should've never occurred initially; however it was not her place to object such an item. The argument between husband and wife would have to be placed aside until a later date, the medical chief did not wish to come between a delicate situation, when she herself, currently occupied that status of single, "There are far too many bodies in this room, you can wait behind the viewing glass." the maidens tone becomes tense, partially out of frustration from being dragged into a soap opera, As the Shinobi World Turned.

Adjusting herself, Mikasa then adjusts the ivory lab coat that Lord Umashiashikabihikoji once wore, "There is a time and place for inquiries, I understand the amount of confusion, but for the moment would you please exit this particular room?" the kunioichi inquires in a sincere tone, taking notice of the intrusion of Lord Kenshin. Lowering her surgeon mask, the maiden paces forward to stand behind the taller shinobi, "Both of you. Out." she streaks her hand outwards to gesture towards the door, not caring if Kenshin were merely performing his duty to the hokage, "Three of you." she corrects. At this rate, Mikasa would tap into an emotional state she rarely relied on, it wouldn't be pretty.

"Once the children are born, you may re-enter." she addresses, turning about to hurry herself to her superior, taking notice of the distress Yomi undergoes. Raising the mask upwards once again, Mikasa positions herself for the first child. The author of the character would not go into detail of the event, the kunoichi's mind going blank, from concentration and lack of experience nearly causing her panic. The sudden cry of an infant fills the void, a mess splatters against her ivory attire and in her arms a screaming infant. Out of shock she stares downwards at the petite bundle in her arms, unsure of how to feel. Caramel flesh sticks out like a sore thumb against the coat, clearly not her own child. The future in arms, so brittle and precious in the same instance.

With great care she passes the child to whomever dared to hold the child, having to ready herself for the next child who was in quite the awkward situation. Gently her hands rest upon the lower part of the superiors stomach and on the top, applying a faint pressure. Hopefully, in time, the child would flip about.

It happened in slow motion almost, Tamashii's vision would begin to fade, and his eyes dropping down before the pain would settle in again? Shaking his head and coming back into his vision of reality, he'd see someone whom he did not expect to see, and even spotting the quick look down at the hand holding. This was going to be fun, fun indeed. Though Tamashii would not let go only allowing Yomi and Kenshin to do their work but this moment was going to be held in check for now, "Look, theres nothing to be afraid of, but you do need to leave because you cant just mosey up here like everything is sugar and cream... To be expected to show up... Today...Right now.. in this moment? No. We'll talk again soon Umashi... and I'll make sure Yomi makes it through the procedure fair and ready.", nodding he would look to Yomi and then down to his broken hand but he still gave it to her for the sake of it. He promised, and he had enough breath left in his lungs to fulfill that promise.

It sucked though, the pain of Umashi's distrust hurt more than the eminent loneliness that he felt at the bottom of those bottles. Almost as if a winery was running through Tamashii's veins but he would not let anyone know, he had class and tact. Something the Former Hokage lacked... something many people in the leadership in this village lacked. It was almost like a soap opera that he seemed to be in the midst of. This was not what he wanted for this village, but was it because he was such a background character that people didnt take his words with anything more than a grain of salt? Maybe it would be better when he was gonna be gone, but maybe his presence was keeping alot of this together...

"Calm down Yomi. Keep your breathing." he would lower his eyes and begin coaching Yomi once again.

Shocked was an understatement, hurt, even more so. The simple fact of the matter was that in the very moment that Yomi issued her declaration, Umashi momentarily had an out of body experience for just the briefest of moments. It was one thing to be pissed at him, it was a even completely understandable to have questions and doubts as to his motives, but to dismiss him, while his children were being born . . . there simply was no greater display of disdain in his eyes. If Yomi's words weren't enough, the fact that Kenshin showed up, and the closing of ranks by Mikasa and Tamashii stung equally as much. He felt trapped and suddenly overcome with a feeling of complete claustrophobia and vertigo all wrapped up into one. As he looked down at his body from on high, he instinctively mapped out a plan of attack, one that would leave the children unharmed without forcing him to drop the baby in his own.

Tamashii wouldn't be expecting him to strike and neither would Asuka, they would be the first to fall. Mikasa would be momentarily stunned, just long enough for Umashi to fend off the initial barrage of strikes by Kenshin, but in a matter of seconds, he'd be dealing with a skilled medic and a guy known for punching through anything in his way. In under four seconds he could have the Akakame by his side, taking the first blow from Mikasa, in whatever form it came. Regulated to one arm and by extension one hand, dealing with two competent shinobi would be difficult but not impossible. The goal wouldn't be to kill them but to incapacitate them. Lost in the time between time, Umashi ran through a number of scenarios that would enable him to exact a sort of punishment on those that dared to defy him and none of the scenarios ended well.

There simply wasn't a way a give way to emotion and still protect the ones that he loved. Even worse than that, despite being angry, the light within Umashi wouldn't allow him to carry his thoughts all the way through. It course corrected his emotions and instead of plotting the bloodiest massacre that he could imagine, he instead found himself compassionately calming down. As much as he didn't want to have to concede in the moment, he would. In much the same way as when he left, there simply was no right answer to make and no correct course to take. To stay would cause further commotion, and probably cause a complication with the labor process. To leave would be to admit guilt and justify their claims. Coming back into the moment, with Kenshin at the door and Tamashii going back to helping Yomi, Umashi sighed and shook his head.

Kicking her legs and disrupting his moment of though, the brave baby girl in his arms coo'd just as the first of Umashi's children was being born. A boy, a son! Smiling as he was brought to tears though he was quick to wipe them away.
"I . . . erhm . . . Yes, we'll talk later." Hurt, feeling alone and in some respects broken, Umashi silently cursed the whole of the situation. It would have been better in his eye's if he'd simply missed the birth entirely. It would have been a more simple pain to bear and a more easier pill to swallow. Dealing with emotions was a hard thing to do, dealing with emotions that were repressed was an even harder task to deal with. To them, Umashi came across as an absent minded Hokage, and yet while the logic was a plain to him as the light of day, they couldn't seem to look past the situation.

Was it logical for him to want to leave Yomi, did it seem probable that he would cut off contact without reason? To them it had been almost a year, while to him it had seemed like almost two decades. The world of the Void Dimension was one that was unforgiving and exceptionally rule bound. They saw a girl who had died because a momentarily returned Umashi had been unable to save her, while Umashi saw a host that the Dark Phoenix hadn't been able to overtake. There was a benefit of a doubt that should have and could have been given, one that Umashi had hypocritically not allowed Tamashii. In time they would find out, in time they might even understand the constraints that he'd been under, however there was no replacing this moment, there were no do overs.

Letting the door slide behind him as he exited the room, instead of standing near to Kenshin, Umashi walked further down the hallway in quiet contemplation though he still remained in earshot. A pirate, a medic, a Sennin and a Hokage . . . there were many roles that Umashi had taken over the years and none of them had prepared him for fatherhood. There was a saying that the head that wore the crown was heavy and Umashi now completely believed it. There simply would always be the conflict of who to serve first, his family or his village. Like a dagger that hung above his head, he was acutely aware of his mortality and the fact that he was tasked with the gargantuan task of holding the village and indeed the country together. Could he do it, did he even want to do it? It even occurred to him that it would have probably had been best if he hadn't returned at all. Sighing and shaking his head, Umashi was again drawn to looking down at the precious baby girl in his arms. To her, the world was this great big place that she didn't understand. In some respects Umashi envied her position, ignorance could sometimes be the greatest bliss.

On queue Kenshin had arrived and asked Umashi to leave. There were many things she could say about the shinobi of this village, but, on most occasions, Kenshin made up for it all by his sheer sense of duty and reliability. She had not conveyed it properly to him how much she really appreciated him and she would have to remember to do so when this whole, ordeal, was over.

Unlike Kenshin, Yomi was sure that Tamashii was aware of how much she appreciated him. So much in fact that whatever line existed for them, was now no longer visible to her. He was here helping her give birth to another man’s children, and she could not think of a reason for him not to be. The reason that should have moved her the fastest, did not even cause her to stir. Nor, at this time, could she even think of it from a different perspective, namely, Umashi’s. Firmly, she stayed with the belief that he needed to be there with her now, the actual father be damned.

So, Yomi pushed through the emotions on Mikasa’s orders and because that’s what her body forced her to do. Surprisingly, through all of this, Umashi relented and he acquiesced to her wishes. Much to her dismay, the woman caught a glimpse of the man’s back once more. It should have been a familiar sight, and even though she requested him to leave, the act of him walking away from her again, broke the rest of what remained of her heart. In that, she knew the hypocrisy of her feelings and recognized that nothing her husband could do would appease her in this moment. Yet the resentment was boiling over. She swallowed hard keeping herself from calling out to him how she wanted to.

The first baby had come, lungs strong like the roar of a great animal. Fresh tears fell freely from her eyes as she heard her baby boy. She had no name for either of them, but, perhaps it would come to her when she looked at them and determined what fit them both. She breathed heavily exhausted by the effort, and saddened by the fact that it was still not over. There was a whole other baby still ready to be born and the Medical Chief would have to do a bit of finagling to ensure the smooth delivery of the second.

“Mikasa….please… I don’t want to do this…” Yomi cried, letting go of Tamashii to cover her face with both her hands. The woman was clearly desperate for this whole thing to be over with.

Asuka had snuck back in and watched from the corner staying out of Mikasa’s way but scowling none the less. Her sister was laying there crying and she could not do anything about it. Helplessness was not a feeling that the woman was accustomed too and she was highly uncomfortable. What was more was the fact that she was certain that Yomi was crying less over the pain of childbirth and more over the man that, at least in her eyes, was trying to destroy her. Leaving, coming back, leaving, coming back, and now leaving again. How could he not recognize what he was doing? She was level headed enough to know that there was much more that needed to be explained as it was way too much going on, however, Asuka could and would not be placated as easily as Yomi would eventually be by him because she wasn’t in love with him. Forgiveness would not come easy from her, and, if she had her way, it would not come easily from Yomi either, no matter what his explanation was. Asuka rushed up to take the first born from Mikasa and did as she was told but was uncomfortable holding such a new and important human. Where were all the nurses?

Thankfully, things went peacefully. Umashi left as one child was born. He received the dismissal from Mikasa and while he did bow towards her, it was under Yomi's orders he left.

Once outside, Kenshin would stand next to Umashi should he watch the events conspire always keeping an eye on Umashi should he leave. He was a guard this day. Nothing fancy and nothing to do with being a sennin. He would nod for the other guards to go patrol to leave them alone for awhile.

An explanation will be exceted you know." Kenshin said quietly as to not disrupt the scene "I relayed your words from that day and it was not accepted very well. Do as you will, but keep in mind I am Yomi's guard. If you assume the command of Hokage again, I will protect you but Yomi will come first.
Her and those children will be my top priority. So if you DO leave again... know that they are safe."

Kenshin would then assume his place again keeping en eye on all possible entrances.

Carefully the medical chief examined the former Hokage, his disheveled appearance clearly foretold a tale of his time departed from the village; unsure how he could miss out on an obvious detail. Never the least his emotional state flickered, her body tensing and readying herself, only in the males wildest dreams would Umashiashikabihikoji be able to defeat the maiden with a single arm; only in the moments where his aura settles does Mikasa turn about to return a majority of her attention towards Lady Yomi. Unsure with how to cope with her emotional state, the medical kunoichi instinctively rests her forehead against the superiors, her azure gaze never wavering, "This isn't about you, at this very moment it won't be about either of us, nor anyone in this room." she murmurs, "This is about your twins. Be strong for them, as a mother." she finalizes allowing a silent moment to pass between the two.

After the moment was to pass, Mikasa positions herself for the second child, awaiting for the triumphant roar of life to emit from the second arrival. Pain staking moments were to unfold, the woman only hoped her words had aided her superior for the last push, cradling the beautiful creation in her arms. Sparkling eyes stare downwards against the petite digits of the babe, Mikasa instinctively prodding the nose of the child, to finally pass the squirming lass to the care taker.

Treading over to the nearest chair, once the normal inspections of the children had been completed, the woman rears her head back against the wall, lowering the mask to release a much needed wisp. Mentally the maiden had been drained, nerve wrecked. Nothing more would be spoken from her, minus a single suggestion, "Jiro, Junpei, Chakuro, or Mikazuki. My final submissions in the name contest." she jests, covering her gaze with the palm of her hands; only allowing for her body to feel for odd shifts in the air for movement about her.

[OOC: Sorry for the wait, but, you guys already know what was up. I thank you for your patience!]

Yomi nodded at Miakasa's words, suddenly feeling inadequate to complete the task she was chosen to perform. The woman bared down and did as she was told hoping that this whole ordeal would be over soon-ish so she could retreat to her penthouse and brood. The cries of her newborns cut through her like a hot knife through butter reminding her that there would never again be a time where she would be allowed to mull over things alone. The needs of the children were now going to a be one more thing that would never allow her peace.

And to think, she was a willing participant in all of this.

The woman listened to the name suggestions through the pain and wondered if Umashi wanted to have a junior. They never got a chance to discuss such a thing or even how they wanted to raise a child. Now there are two and a possible and she was no closer to knowing what he would have liked even as he stood on the other side of the door. Did she even care?

Wiping the tears from her eyes she looked at Tamashii, lacking the energy to sit up and probably would have been forced down by Mikasa anyway.

"Boys then? Do they have all their toes and fingers?" She did not allow Mikasa to tell her the sex of the children because she wanted to be surprised and because she was afraid of what that she would give birth to boys. So because that was her fear, of course, that is what she got.

As Yomi finished giving birth to her last son, Asuka had managed to drag a nurse inside the room to help with the cleaning of the first born and the checking of the vitals. She handed a screaming baby to his mother with a big grin on her face.

"Strong lungs and its clear he's been eating well! He's solid!" Asuka practically bubbled with excitement, a rare sight to behold as she made sure her nephew was secure in his mothers arms before going back to see about the other baby boy. Yomi smiled up at Tamashii as she looked at her son's fingers and counted his toes.

"He's so big.." The woman whispered half to herself and half to Tamashii. The new bundle cried in her arms and she tried to comfort him as best she could. "Its ok big guy. Its ok...mommy's here." Yomi looked at his little face and wondered how she could make something so precious and adorable despite of all the things she was and all the things his father wasn't.

"Tamashii, do you want to hold him?" Yomi looked from her son's face to his and smiled. "I have another one to hold right now." She tried to make grabby hands for her other son, as soon as he was cleaned up and ready for her to embrace him. Whether or not Tamashii would decide to hold Baby 1, was up to him. Either way once she got her other son and Mikasa was done with everything else going on under the sheets Yomi finally exhaled.

"Tsukasa Mikasa..." Yomi said. "Thank you for being here for me despite my every attempt to thwart you and make your life difficult. While I maintain that it wasn't on purpose, I know that it happened. I think I am now forced to take your advice since they are here now so, effective immediately, I hereby relieve myself as Medical Sennin and grant you the title of Medical Sennin. You've more than earned it and I cannot be everywhere doing everything all the time. We can handle the paper work later though." Yomi beamed from ear to ear, forgetting for a moment that her husband was outside holding another baby. Only a second though. She cleared her throat and looked at Asuka who was also beaming, but, nodded in understanding.

"Ice chips!" The woman blurted out before leaving the room. She made a bee-line for Umashi and stood in front of the hobo chic man. She kept her tone even making sure there were no curses in her speech this time.

"Congratulations, you have two sons. Identical twins. If you wish to see them now, you may enter while I find some ice chips." Asuka slowly walked away from Umashi and stopped to chat up a nurse pretending to be unaware of where the ice-machine was.

"Yeah, sure . . . whatever . . . " Umashi was especially annoyed with Kenshin at the moment and the more the guy talked, the more things were probably going to spiral more and more out of control. When Asuka finally allowed him to see his child, he had to fight back the urge to say how he really felt. Here he'd risked life and limb to be here and instead of being happy that he was back, they were treating him like the most contemptible villain. As he slowly turned to walk back into the room, he stopped at the doorway half turned to speak towards Kenshin without actually making eye contact with him. "I was caught and trapped in another dimension fighting for the safety of Konoha and the greater Fire Country. While close to a year passed for you, nearly two decades passed for me, and while I can't trouble you to imagine how that feels, I can trouble you to know that it was the thought of seeing my family that kept me going from day to day. " Pausing only to coo to the child in his arms, Umashi rocked her back into a calm state and continued.

"The job of a Hokage is one that requires sacrifice, and in my return, one such sacrifice lead to this young child becoming an orphan and a pariah all in the same day." Verbally scoffing, Umashi turned back to face the newest additions to his family. "Alas, you asked for an explanation, and there you have it." Move on, Umashi looked at his sons and began to beam with pride. His emotional state doing a complete 180 degree turn, he wasn't even offended when he saw Tamashii holding one of them. Walking slowly, as if each step might scare them away, his voice dropped to a near whisper as he spoke to each of them. "I thought that I was too late to witness this, to hear your first cries, and to see your newborn faces. My, how heaven has smiled on me on this day." Once again calmed just by being in sheer proximity to Yomi, the baby girl yawned rather loudly and snuggled into the arms of Umashi.

Even though they'd have to have the important conversations soon, even though tensions and emotions were at an all time high, for just a few brief moments, all was well with the world as parents welcomed their children into the world. Feeling responsible for the girl being made an orphan, Umashi and Yomi would adopt her as their own, and on the official record books, she'd be listed as the third of their triplets. Like all parents, talks of their futures would only be imagined and spoken of in hushed whispers, for now, just their first hours in the world outside of the womb was enough. Like Umashi, their journey had been one of adventure, and for now, a well deserved nap and a meal would be appreciated. In a better way appreciating the lessons that the Phoenix had taught him, Umashi was more able to appreciate the life that he had helped to create. Moments like this were exactly what Umashi found worth fighting for.

OOC: Figured it might be best to kinda epilogue the final paragraph, so that all of us could move on past this topic. Topic Left unless stopped.

In this life a man could be apart of many things, he could travel the world and save the lives of countless people. He could be the one that people came to for answers to their questions, to elp them escape the darkness of their fears. Tama found himself thinking back on these things and much more as he saw the births of the lives from Yomi and Umashi's love... a union he was not apart of. Though, this was a moment Umashi was not here, and a smile would escape the demeanor of the poised man, who had kept quiet over the last few moments, leaning in to take one of the children into his hands. Hoisting the child up for a moment... looking down into those big eyes, it seemed to give him some solace, and maybe in that moment this was what Tamashii had wanted...

'This is not my life...' and as he would take in that thought Umashi would re-enter the room. A deep bellowing sigh would follow as Tamashii would give the child back to Yomi to hold. "Beautiful... The Kids I Mean...", eyeing Umashi for a moment with such envy and disdain, jealousy, and even a hint of hatred, he would gaze for a moment before scoffing at the words spoken from the man. "The life of a Hokage does have sacrifices. None of which you have made... For a man to make a sacrifice you must surrender something... but it just looks like you came back from a Vacation... So spare us all with your sentiments..." he was angry... speaking out of angst... but looking back to Yomi, he'd nod.

"I'm taking the next few days to myself... Bye.", nodding he would begin out of the room... it was time. Maybe there could be one more light...
