Re: Tenrousei FAQ
Affinity Applications
Major: Lightning
Minor: Earth
Advanced: Gravity
The dancing lightning, that charged the bulbs above, danced within its glass cages, illuminated the underground world giving off the illusion of day. The bolts never seemed to tire, ever moving. Crimson orbs observed the seemingly alive current, fascinated by the restlessness of the golden chakra. A thought crossed her mind and she wondered if Chakra had a personality, whether or not it could be considered alive. She had been given the opportunity to learn due to a mysterious benefactor and while she had been reluctant to pay attention in the beginning, she found her curiosity becoming all the more enthralled by the fascinating world previously unknown to her. If she had known all along that she would be able to manipulate the energy within her to manifest, she'd have found a way to enroll herself a long time ago. Casually, she lifted a hand from the hard earth and lifted it to block out the illumination from above. She stared at her palm, her mind racing with a variety of thoughts. After a brief moment, Tenrousei lowered her hand and rose to her feet. She reached up towards one of the closer bulbs at the top of the building next to her. She scrunched her nose in concentration and clenched her jaw. A moment later, a pop sounded as the bulb shattered. Crackling lightning hummed and arched it was over to her outstretched hand.
It was surprisingly warm to the touch and the Chakra arched and bounced over her palm, tickling the pads of her hand. She laughed, giggling in delight, but doing so broke her concentration and the lightning lost its sense of tameness and dissipated, but not before zapping her hand. She yelped, flinching. As she shook her hand, waving out the numbing feeling, she scowled, but felt more amused than distressed. That had been exhilarating and she felt the desire to do it again. However, something else crossed her mind and she lowered down to one knee. She placed her palm down against the earth. If she could play with lightning, then perhaps the earth would listen to her too.
Getting the earth to listen to her was much harder than calling the lightning to her. A bead of sweat trickled down from her brow as she closed her eyes, concentrating on pulling up the earth. After what felt like an hour to her, the girl opened her eyes and removed her hand from the ground. She frowned, nothing had changed, she realized, and started to get back up. However, something caught her eye. Where the ground had been smooth before was a small, tiny fracture. It wasn't much, but she had managed to change the earth. She grinned a wild smile and got to her feet, clapping her hands together a couple of times in delight, praising herself. She had been listening to the instructors at the academy talk about chakra and how it was a part of all things. And that had gotten her to thinking. Without whoever it was urging her to get an education, she wouldn't be able to do this. She sent a silent word of gratitude to whomever it was and her face gained a devious look.
Tenrousei looked over at Xei's sleeping form, the canine snoozing peacefully. Something about waking the dog compelled her and she raised her hand, the tips of her fingers pointing towards the slumbering beast. Biting down on her lower lip, she stared hard, willing her chakra to manifest around the dog. Nothing happened. She waited, and again nothing happened.
Then, when she was about to give up, Xei's tail moved and pointed towards her, lifting itself off of the ground. At first, Tenrousei didn't realize that the dog was still asleep and started to call out to him, but stopped herself with a rather unflattering snore came from him. The girl grinned, returning her attention back to fully concentrating on waking the dog in an unusual manner. His tail wavered in the air, up and down ever so slightly. She held it still, and then clenched her fist and pulled her hand back. The dog's tail pulled away from his body and Xei woke, jumping to his feet, with a yelp. She had managed to manipulate the gravity around his tail and pull it.
She laughed when the dog turned to her with a glare. She shrugged, "I didn't do it. I'm over here." The dog seemed to look at her with a face of disbelief, but he eyed over the distance between them. He let out a huff, yawned, turned around and laid back down, his tail away from her. He stared at her, hard, clearly not believing her regardless of the honest distance, all which only caused the girl to laugh all the harder.
It was at that moment, Tenrousei had another idea. This time, instead of picking on her companion, she was going to see if she could manipulate the Chakra around herself. She thought about what she wanted to do and directed her chakra so that it would distort the space around her. It was harder. She had more of a mass than Xei's tail and before long, her brow was wet with sweat. She ground her teeth in frustration and shut her eyes tightly, bound and determined to succeed. Finally, her feet lifted off of the earth and Xei let out a worried bark. Tenrousei's concentration was shattered and she found herself falling back to the ground, her rump softening her landing. "Ow, ow, ow," she groaned, leaning forward to rub her smarting rear before climbing to her feet.
Having padded over, Xei shoved his nose up at her, erupting in a few rumbles and soft woofs. Tenrousei stared down at her companion, and swiftly grinned. She'd apparently succeeded in not just getting a couple of inches off of the ground, but had lifted herself off of the ground by a full foot! She broke out in a cheer, delighted that she had succeeded. "I did it! I did it! Yes!" She pumped her fist into the air before picking up the dog, to his surprise, and did one quick spin before setting him back down, laughing all the while. Not quiet happy about being lifted up, Xei nipped at her side, getting a quick swat from Tenrousei who rolled her eyes at him. "Oh, stop! This is a good thing!"
Xei grunted, flicked his tail and sat down, but Tenrousei was not going to let him pout. She pulled out a treat she'd swiped earlier in the day and tossed it into the air. Xei's attention locked onto the treat and he jumped up to get it, snapping his jaws through the air where it had been. He landed and glared up at Tenrousei, whom had the treat levitating above her hand, just out of the canine's immediate reach. She stuck her tongue out at him before turning and bolting down the alley from him. Without a moment to lose, the dog quickly followed suit. No way was he letting her get away with his treat! No way!
