Name: Tetaru, Kosu
Age: 11
Gender: Male
Physical Description: On the smaller side, Kosu stands 52 inches tall and and 35 kilos heavy, yet an overall thin frame. Skin tanned lightly from playing outdoors, and always a little burnt on the nose, Kosu tends to stick to a very simple uniform of slightly worn out, hand me down t-shirts and shorts. Just as he likes to keep his clothing simple he feels the same about his light brown hair, rarely letting it get past a half inch in length. Kosu drags his feet as he walks, often with his head tilted down slightly, and his dark brown eyes focused on the ground ahead, yet maintains a smile as if amused with himself constantly.
Personality: When alone or with his peers Kosu is generally quite chipper, naturally seeing the bright side of most circumstances. To him everything is a joke, the only problem being not everyone else seems to get it. Known to make (what he believes to be) clever remarks poking fun at other children in times where they can't always see the “humor” in the situation, Kosu isn't the most popular child in the neighborhood. He doesn't mind this too much as he enjoys himself equally alone as he does with others. However, around adults Kosu is always striving to impress. He is quiet, solemn and submissive when near people he considered his senior, often only speaking when he is asked too. Although sometimes he just can't help but make a small quip that inevitably lands him in some trouble.
History: Born and raised in Raiden no Me, the middle child of a middle class family, Kosu Tetaru has led an incredibility unexceptional life. At home he was not often given more than brief, yet strict lessons from either of his parents. His older brother being his fathers clear favorite, and his younger sister his mother's he was often forgotten and had to find ways to entertain himself. The hobby that Kuso filled most of his lazy afternoons with was pulling harmless pranks on the locals. Through the odd slip up he was caught every so often, but he learned from his mistakes, and started to keep a tally for the number of consecutive pranks he could pull without being pegged as the culprit. Adding this element turned his hobby into a competition with himself centered around being elusive, and soon his pranks turned more into games of stealth with his neighbors as the judges. Everyone knew it was him, there was just rarely any evidence to prove it, but as a result he was ostracized by those in the surrounding community.
His father, a middle man for high end bladed weapons deals, would often bring Kosu and his older bother along for the transactions. Kosu's older brother would be allowed inside, while Kosu would be assigned to check the merchandise for any imperfections caused during travel, as his father was too stingy to use anything but the cheapest form of transportation. Often he would be left alone for hours with nothing but a looking glass and a sword while his father and brother discussed with a client. At first he resented the task, but eager to win his fathers approval he was determined to find any new nicks or scratches and became incredibly adept at noticing the smallest of changes, gaining a near photographic memory with even the swiftest glance of the weapons.
His life lacking any major directional guidance from his parents, Kosu didn't put much thought into what he would do with his life, as few 11 year old children do. On one cold winter day his sister feel mildly ill, to recover shortly, but this was enough for his mother to allow Kosu to come with her on her shift as a nurse at a shinobi veterans' hospital. Whilst there, Kosu spent the day talking to shinobi from all over. Initially he was perturbed by their injuries, but soon enough their epic tales took hold of his imagination and he ceased to remember that it was their lifestyle that left them disabled in the first place. Over the next couple days he thought on it and with so little to leave behind, he soon confronted his parents informing then he would like to be enrolled in the academy. His mother was hesitant at first, but with a little convincing his parents agreed.
He already considered himself to be quite capable of being stealthy, and had held various bladed weapons, he figured at this rate he would be ahead of most of the class coming in. A couple days before the start of classes, it occurred to Kosu that he had never truly been in a fight, and that this may be an important skill if he was to be defending the village. The next day Kosu picked a fight with boy who has once picked on him in years previous and he was quickly taught a brutal lesson in how truly unprepared he was for what lay ahead.
