Osuteno had not felt this strong and energetic before, not even before he started getting injury after injury. There was something different about today that made him feel like he could run for hours on end without a break, so he did. He felt like he could jump higher than he ever could before, so he did. He felt like he could lift twice his bodyweight, so he did. His muscles didn’t feel tired at all somehow. He felt so amazing he couldn’t stop trying more and more, brushing aside what would have been his limits just a day before.
It was odd though, he didn’t feel like he was thinking any faster and his jutsu weren’t any different, his body simply felt stronger and didn’t seem to tire. As the day was nearing its end it gradually grew concerning to the young mednin, after all something about his body wasn’t normal. What if his body was actually exhausted, beyond exhausted really with all he had done, and it just wasn’t registering in his mind? It would probably be best to go get himself checked out, but first he decided to stop by the hot springs. Osu felt it would be best to stop and treat his muscles despite the fact they seemed to feel fine and it was much closer. That and he had always found that healing seemed to work a little better when he was in the springs.
A short while later Osu was in the hot spring and was brushing hands with a green glow across the muscles he had used most heavily that day. Aside from his blood flow seeming stronger there was no internal damage that he could find. Nothing seemed to be torn or otherwise damaged, in fact it almost seemed like he hadn’t used his muscles at all. It didn’t make any sense, if anything, the only thing he seemed to feel a bit drained of was chakra… which was also very unusual. It always seemed like no matter how much chakra he used after a few minutes he was back to full capacity. Now it felt like he was… breaking even. His chakra seemed to drain faster than ever as he applied healing chakra to himself.
Perhaps he was simply over thinking this. He knew that shinobi sometimes developed rather differently than most people, and even among themselves there were a wide variety of developments that took place. He would be turning 13 in a few months so maybe he was just experiencing some peculiar development or temporary adjustment his body was going through. He had witnessed odder occurrences working in the hospital and there was always a chance tomorrow he would wake up sore beyond belief and back to normal otherwise. He didn’t really look forward to that possibility so he decided he would spend a while longer soaking in the hot water. He was oddly alone on the men’s side but he heard quite a bit of chatter from the mixed baths, more than normal and more people started arriving. It didn’t take him long to learn why, plenty of people were talking about a lunar eclipse.
Osu looked up at the moon in excitement and noticed it happened to be full tonight. It was quite lucky he was still out to witness it, he had been sick during the last two around a year and half a year ago and hadn’t expected another so soon. Osu poured himself some tea and waited with a bit of childish excitement, listening to a couple people discussing something called a lunar tetrad. Apparently there would be one more of these in the coming year with the final one surprisingly being on his birthd-…
The moment the moon began to gain shadow Osu felt a horrible twisting sensation in his body. It felt as if the entirety of his being was being pulled inward and was crushing him. He was having too much trouble breathing and struggled to pull himself out of the water before he locked up more for fear of drowning. He tried to call out for help but he felt too constricted by some invisible force to get a peep out. What finally need come out of his mouth after much struggling wasn’t sound however but blood, a lot of it. Pint after pint poured from his mouth in coughs as he fought to get air down his throat. After coughing up enough blood to kill three non-Chigokai he became vaguely aware that in the mental library Uso was screaming in even more pain… and fear?... Than what he felt. She seemed to be bashing her head into things trying to knock herself out despite knowing that whoever was in the library couldn’t rest. He finally managed to struggle his way to the fence that separated the baths and positioned himself to where he wouldn’t drown on the blood before dropping consciousness and entered the mental library.
What he felt was so far beyond overwhelming that later it was impossible for him to give much more than a faint explanation. Something horrible brushed against his mind, it seemed to have been a delicate brush of the fingers, but the fear and pain that emanated from that touch, the deepness of it… Only later would Osu realize that the entire time Uso was crying and screaming “It’s him!” and “Please forgive me!” Sometime later Osu would try and drag out of Uso what she knew but she would deny ever saying anything of the sort though would say rather cryptically they needed to be more entertaining and insist on applying for missions.
Hours after Osu had passed out the eclipse had passed and Osu found himself in a hospital bed. It took a lot to convince people he hadn't actually been the victim of some horrific assault given that somehow many of the bones in his body were broken, his skin bruised and torn all over, and the plain rediculous amount of blood on the scene. Putting aside how he got the wounds, he was in about as good of shape as if someone tried to put him into a trash compactor. Two of the major reasons he was even alive right now was that he had been discovered quickly enough and half the blood in the vault was his to begin with.
For the time being Osu was not to leave the hospital and was kept under watch just in case he wasn't telling the truth about there not being a culprit.
