Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

You have answered Sunagakure's summons, "arrive at the Ranger Tracking Grounds Main Office at 9 o'clock in the morning for your assessment." The note was vague but addressed to you in the same typed script. It did not even mention what or why you were being assessed. It was likely that you considered the reason why, you expressed interest in participating in the World martial Arts Tournament next year but the message and the messenger seemed to have few words of advice or encouragement to share. Of course, it would be cheating or unfair for someone to give a potential fighter the advantage in a fight, in this study every shinobi served as a control. There were personal favorites under consideration but if they could not blaze their own way then they would never make it to the tournament.

You were a favored one, although you did not yet know that. Not that much could be done by the one that had given you her boon, not yet at least. You needed to ascend on your own, your lust for battle driving you forward.

The Tracking Grounds was a Ranger-only center that took up several acres of land. It was an impressive, albeit plain-looking structure with a dome shape and an earth-colored hue. The tracking grounds themselves were open to shinobis in good standing with Sunagakure for the purposes of training but thus far they were underutilized. Since Shouki's final stand in this very center, the Tracking Grounds has been closed while the Ranger's headquarter's security was being reviewed. Presently closed to the public unless one has a specific invitation, you would be among the first shinobi to enter this structure in months.

The entrance would be simple, guarded by a pair of well-armed and intimidating men. Both looked more like the sort of men that would grapple a bull, beat it and then eat it raw for their morning meal. Their eyes would flash a moment of recognition, yes they knew you were coming and what you looked like, with a grunt and a nod they would allow you entry. Of course, if someone was foolhardy enough to disrespect them, the door would slam closed and you would be faced with combat before you even reached the training ground. Yes, you were probably 'stronger' than them, despite their intimidating presence because if they were indeed more capable it would be them answering this invitation and not you.

The entrance would lead to a long, narrow hall. The walls were made of some sort of metal. It would be Takahashi Steel. On either side there was also a thick wall of glass that separated their reinforcement beams. To the right, through the glass you would see grasslands. It was quite tranquil, gently rolling hills and a verdant landscape spotted with a few knotted trees that provided a shady canopy. The glass if touched would feel temperate, not hot nor cold. A rabbit would dart out from beneath a mossy stump and stare at you from the other side of the glass curiously before hopping away. To the left, a wooded area. Many Sunans have never seen such a dense growth of vegetation except perhaps in pictures and books. You would not be able to hear anything through the glass but every one in awhile you would think that you might have seen something, a glint of an eye or a bit of fur. Grass was limited but there was mossy, slick-appearing terrain and thorny bushes.

This place was one of the things that made the Ranger's unique, they were trained hunters. They spent their idle time preparing as survivalists and they did not hunt "small game." Rangers were one of the few that actively sought dangerous S-Class beasts as well as creatures and monsters of dubious origin. In truth, Rangers were the Monster Hunters of Wind Country but they did too good of a job. With a lack of dangerous game, need for the Rangers as a whole diminished until the Rangers finally dispersed as a unit entirely. Their way lost and forgotten by most as families moved on. There were a few, a mere sprinkling here and there that still knew the old ways. That was how this structure was erected but Rangers are notoriously fickle and that particular Ranger had not been seen in some time. Some have come to believe that she was lost or killed while seeking game, it was a common cause of death for Rangers who live short and brutal lives.

This hallway would prove to be quite long, in fact you would walk for over a mile before you would reach your destination -- a door. No, not THE DOOR, simply a door. It would be unlocked and you would leave the glass encased hallway and enter an office. The office would be neat and rather small given the distance you traveled to reach this central hub. There would be a desk and a man sitting behind the desk, one could only assume that he was a Ranger. He would not address, you rather a young woman who would take a few steps towards you as you entered the room. She was dressed like a fifteen year old gothic boy, not a representative for one of the largest tournaments in the world. There was a simple reason for this -- she did not represent the tournament, she represented Sunagakure's interests.

"Are you Shinku Kaen?"

She would wait for you to confirm who you were. Behind her you might notice a pair of Medics with a stretcher, one announcing to the other that 'this one appears to be stabilized' and the other affirming 'looks like we did a good job... Don't worry buddy, we will make sure that you are taken care of. Most of those wounds won't even scar.' The Medic assured the patient. You would not be able to see who it was that was being carried off but you would be able to tell from his voice that he was most certainly lying.

"Excellent, sign here." She would have you a scroll. Once unfurled it would be a liability statement claiming that you are aware and affirm that you are about to enter into a dangerous situation. That death, disfigurement and even potential disability may result from participation. "I am sure they filled you in," she would announce while she waited for your signature. "Of course they wouldn't, would they?" She sighed, the project was not public yet. Well, she better explain. "You are about to enter a simulated combat experience unlike anything you have ever seen before. This will assess you in a 'safe'"</B><i></i> she made quotation marks with her fingers "...environment. You will still suffer the damage of powerful attacks, determined by the setting dial on the machine. I have you and the others set for Level 8. Yes, there are higher levels but those are intended for group combat experience and we felt that it would be unnecessary." She would press a button on the Ranger's desk and the walls would open up. There would be several doors, well more specifically 5. Each would be labeled simply: desert, grassland, forest, tundra, water.

"Pick a biome and enter when you are ready. We have added security measures to the door. Returning will be difficult to say the least. you have thirty seconds to return through the door. Do your best." She would give him an encouraging smile and a thumbs up. As he enters she would add an additional query, "Do you have any next of kin, medical issues, excreta that I will need to be aware of when I---" The door would slam between you an her, trapping you inside whichever biome you have chosen to enter. She gave you the instructions -- you have 30 seconds to return through the door you just left. It sounds simple, but it truly is not. The door would hum to life,hidden gears would start to whirl as an unknown power-source empowered the massive mechanical structure.

Explosive Chakra - Passive (3 points)

Restriction- C Rank and up

Even a pyromaniac’s chakra is unstable, making it highly volatile and extremely dangerous. While this makes their chakra a little harder to control, it makes their fire based jutsu just that much more frightening.

Effect: Due to the difficulty of controlling their chakra, all ninjutsu and genjutsu cost 5% more. However, all fire based jutsu have a +2 critical range and hit for 2.5x normal damage on critical hits instead of 2.0x normal damage.

Warmth - Passive (2 points)

Through their bond with fire, pyromaniacs can draw energy from the warmth of the surrounding air, constantly recharging themselves.

Effect: The user regains 2% Max Cp each round. This is increased to 4% Max Cp/Rnd when Mantle of Fire is active.

Fire Blast - Dependent Special Move (3 points)

By fully unleashing their fiery nature, a pyromaniac can charge a fire based jutsu far beyond normal limits, creating a highly-unstable and explosive attack that is only vaguely controlled, with wild chances to go either way in creating victory or defeat.

Effect: A chosen Fire based Jutsu deals +40% more damage and deals 25% of its total damage back to the user. This jutsu has a 20% chance to increase the damage by an additional +20%, a 30% chance to increase damage by 20% with an additional +25% backlash, and a 10% chance to become unstable and explode on the user dealing full damage to them. Only one effect may happen per use. Because of the intense power, damage from this jutsu cannot be reduced by mantle of fire. This may be used only three times per battle, and does not apply to Damage Buff Limits.
Fire Blast
Wildfire - Passive (3 points)

Unstable and dangerous, a Pyromaniac's mind set is one that craves destruction in the fastest, most efficient way possible. Without regards to themselves or their surroundings, they unleash scorching flames with no attempt at self control. Their flames set fire to all they touch, and their battles leave nothing but a scarred wasteland behind.

Effect: All fire based jutsu have a 20% chance to Set their targets afire, dealing 10% of the Jutsu's damage each round for two rounds. Fire based jutsu already having the chance to set targets afire are increased by 10%, and all AoE Flame techniques are increased by 8x8 feet.

Burning Recoil - Dependent Special Move (2 points)

Playing with fire is dangerous, and most shinobi are cautious when it comes to their flame techniques, and carefully take the time to properly channel their chakra to avoid harming themselves. However, this is not the case for the Pyromaniac. Missing an opportunity against an opponent for something as insignificant as their own safety is unthinkable, and they release their flames rapidly even if it means using their own body to absorb the recoil of an attack.

Effect: A Pyromaniac may use their own body to absorb the recoil of a Fire based jutsu, increasing the accuracy by +2, but also taking on +15% backlash damage. This can be done once per round.

Direct Conversion - Independent Special Move (2 points)

Through intense willpower and spirit bordering on insanity, Pyromaniacs can directly convert their life force into chakra much more efficiently than other shinobi can.

Effect: Any amount of HP can be converted into CP at a 1 to 1 ratio. Costs 1 AP and can only be used three times in one battle.

A pyromaniac with this ability has brought out the destructive force of their fire based jutsu to the maximum, though they are no less reckless and chaotic in the execution.

Effect: Fire based jutsu deal 10% more damage, but 5% of the total damage is done to the user.

Mantle of Fire - Jutsu (1 point)

Restriction- A-Rank and up

By wreathing themselves in flames, the pyromaniac truly becomes one with the fire, burning all around them, whether it be friend, foe, or anything in between.

Rank 1: Wreathes the user in flames that deal 100 fire damage to anyone who makes an unarmed melee attack on them or touches them in any way. While wreathed in flame, all fire damage the user would deal to themselves, including the backlash from Fire Boost, is neutralized, besides Fire Blast backlash. Fire damage from other sources is reduced by 20%. All fire damage is boosted by fire buffs, including Fire Boost, with the exception of melee damage.

Cost: 3000 CP and 3 AP to activate, 1000 CP/round to maintain

A once favored religion centered around an Ancient of the Desert which acknowledges nothing less than utter devotion to balance between life and death. Those of the Sunan faith have been known to be extremely skilled and capable when it comes to bloodshed. Becoming fanatics in the work of their Desert faith. The followers of Mother Suna are legion strongly linked to faith and death, and view anything less than obeying the rites of the desert as a sin to their blessed Mother Suna and her creed. As such, Sunans of old worship and embellish all acts of giving the damned to the desert. Taking the souls of others in the pain of both themselves and those deemed unworthy to live. Their mission in spreading the word of Mother Suna and carrying out her will. Faith is their weapon, and it is believed that their complete and utter faith gives them immortality, their obsessive prayers and sacrifices involving souls allow the devoted to rise up from even the most mortal injuries that would kill even hardened shinobi.

- The user cannot be knocked out by Bleeding or Poisons. (This does not include Poison Jutsu)
- If an attack would cause the user to be Ko'd, their Hp remains at 1 Hp and they cannot be Ko'd for the remainder of the round. This may happen once per battle.
- If an attack would bring the user to -100% Max Hp, Damage stops at 1 Hp away from -100%. This may happen once per battle.

Blood Magic - Special Activated Passive

A darker practice said to have been passed down by the Ancients, this skill endows the faithful with the power to perform dark curses by drawing upon their own life force in place of chakra, or rather, in addition to chakra. Generally done by drawing their own blood, this skill requires a tribute of blood in place of handseals, and grants the user a boon of faith from Mother Suna herself that super-charges their techniques with dark, soul stealing energy.

Effect:
- By paying 10% of a Jutsu's cost in Hp, the user can turn a Ninjutsu into a "Dark" Element Attack. This Blood jutsu does not require handseals, and deals +5% damage, and bypasses 5% of Damage Reduction. These effects may stack up to three times in one Jutsu.
- By coating their weapon in their own Blood, the user can use any physical action as a "Dark" Element technique. This blood must be fresh, so it costs Hp equal to 30% of the Taijutsu cost, and deals +15% Damage while bypassing 15% worth of damage reduction. This only applies to one action/jutsu per use, as the dark energy rapidly fades from the blood.
- This does not cost Ap, the user only has to declare an attack is being made in this way.
- Does not cost an ability slot.

Reaper of Faith - Special Activated Passive

The primary curse of the Faithful of Mother Suna, this technique is the basis for many of their other spiritual powers, and naturally, this does not effect those sharing the same faith, for it is a Sin against Mother Suna to raise a blade against another one of her children. The ritual is simple, involving the faithful ingesting the blood of their living target, at this stage their target is now officially their “Sacrifice”. The faithful’s body transforms into a more dynamic appearance, ranging from a deep black color with white markings to a golden color with silver highlights, though there are rumors of other far more dynamic appearances. Regardless of the case, this curse is said to transform the user into a shinigami, as they gain the ability to sense their "Sacrifices"...and it is a sin of the highest degree for the faithful to leave the victim of this technique alive, the user having becoming a living embodiment of a reaper.

Effect:
- For 1 Ap, the user may ingest the Blood of a target. This links them together through a forbidden curse of their Faith, Giving them +2 Awareness to those who's blood have been ingested. In addition, this allows the user of Further Curse Techniques upon the target.
- This bonus lasts the remainder of the battle, or until either the user or the victim dies.
- The Jashinist/Faithful may ingest the blood of multiple targets simultaneously, and may be linked to multiple targets with this technique at once.
- This does not take effect against other Jashinist/Faithful.

Blood Anointed - Special Augment

A lightweight, retractable weapon often used by the wandering devotees of Mother Suna in their mission to maintain their creed. This weapon shrinks into a compact form that seems to resemble a thin cylinder for portability, yet can snap into action with the flip of a wrist. While normally used for their rituals and sacrificial tributes, this tool can easily function as a direct tool for slaying any ignorant infidels who blaspheme against their faith in Mother Suna.

Effect: Any attacks made with the equipped weapon have +1 Critical Range and have their Critical Damage Multiplier increased by 25%.

Note(s):
- Weapons equipped with Blood Anointed do not gain it's effects if used against another Jashinist.

Prayer of Malicious Intent - C-Rank Curse Ninjutsu

The Faithful of Mother Suna are elementalists strongly intertwined with an elemental force of nature. Though it is their job to enforce the will of Mother Suna through the word of their faith to those they deem worthy, more often then not the Faithful crave for nothing more than the souls of their enemies. The Desert faithul give thanks their Mother before and after every battle, offering themselves up for rituals in return for the dark power of her wrath. It is this ritual, that enables the faithful to offer a few quick words of gratitude for their battle that grants the believer a quick, rush of power and strength that can reap the souls of the most powerful of victims.

- The following round, all physical penalties are increased by +1, and the user still takes +10% damage from all sources.

Sacrilegious Atonement - B-Rank Curse Ninjutsu

A curse technique known to the Faithful of Mother Suna that allows them to link their life to their target through the use of the emblem of their faith. After ingesting the blood of their target, the faithful can use their own blood to scribe the seal of their Goddess upon the target, infused with their dark magic that transfers all physical feelings from the target to the faithful, though this only applies to effects which are beneficial to the body. Being infused with their chakra, this seal cannot be removed until the dark magic fades, from that point being able to be wiped away normally.

Rank 1: Scribes a seal upon a target at -2.5 Accuracy. All Healing is reduced by 30%, and all activated buffs are reduced by 1 or 5%. The remainder of the effects is treated as if affecting the user as well. Cannot be removed for two rounds.
Master Rank: Scribes a seal upon a target at -2 Accuracy. All Healing and recovery is reduced by 40%, and all activated buff’s are reduced by 1.5 or 10%. The remainder of the effects is treated as if effecting the user as well. Cannot be removed for three rounds.

Note:
- Does not use handseals, and use melee Accuracy
- The user must be under the effect of Reaper of Faith.
- This only applies to activated buffs or recovery effects. Does not apply to buffs due to Genjutsu, nor does it apply to passive buffs.
- The user cannot be buffed by the same technique simultaneously, regardless of the source.
- Removing the seal costs 1 Ap to wipe the blood away completely, yet cannot be done until the round limit is up.
- Does not effect other Jashinists/Faithful.

Cost: 900 Cp and 300 Hp to scribe, 430 Cp and 140 Hp per round maintained.

Divine Judgment - A-Rank Curse Ninjutsu

The most feared curse of the Faithful, This ritual is capable of being performed only by those touched by Mother Suna herself. This sinister ritual is performed after the faithful has ingested the blood of the target, from that point being able to perform this sacred ritual by scribing the seal of their Goddess, Mother Suna, upon the ground with their blood. While within the Seal, the Jashinist/Faithful is able to inflict pain upon himself, torturing their helpless victims and receiving pleasure from the wounds of both themselves and their victims, essentially, becoming a sadistic, living voodoo doll.

Rank 1: Scribes a seal with the radius of up to 7 feet around the user. While within this seal, all physical effects such as damage and debuffs inflicted upon the user, are also inflicted to those of whom the Jashinist/Faithful has ingested the Blood.
Master Rank: Scribes a seal with the radius of up to 8 feet around the user. While within this seal, all physical effects such as damage and debuffs inflicted upon the user, Including reduced damage and debuffs, is also inflicted to those of whom the Jashinist/Faithful has ingested the Blood.

Note:
- Does not use Handseals.
- This technique only takes effect against those who are targeted by Reaper of Faith.
- While within the Blood Seal the user has -3 Dodge to all techniques aimed at them.
- Each time the Jashinist/Faithful is attacked, a ninjutsu check is made between the user and those who have had their blood ingested by the Jashinist/Faithful. Upon a successful check, the user and those who have had their blood ingested receive damage.
- The seal and the surface it was scribed upon cannot be destroyed through any means during battle while the user maintains this technique's cost.
- Should the user no longer maintain the cost, they may still gain the effects while within the seal, but the seal and the ground may be destroyed.
- All damage and effects done to the victim bypass all forms of reduction and cannot be blocked in anyway or form.
- This damage may not be buffed or increased via ANY means. this includes debuffs on the opponent making them take more damage.
- This Jutsu does not apply to Genjutsu damage or debuffs.

Cost: 3 Ap, 2500 Cp and 830 Hp to initiate. 1200 Cp/Rnd and 400 Hp/Rnd to maintain.

Immaculate Blessing - S-Rank Curse Ninjutsu

The ultimate curse of the Faithful, This ritual is available only to the most pure believers of the balance of the desert. This ritual is an extension to previous ones, combining two of their most powerful curses into one, providing the ultimate punishment against those outside their faith. The Faithful is able to scribe the seal of Mother Suna upon a target, marking them for death, the blood constantly burning within the flesh of the victim that will leave a scar. Once scribed, punishment of the highest degree is imminent, the user being able to link their life to their sacrifice without the need of remaining within a seal. Only death awaits those who have been marked.

Master Rank: Scribes a seal upon a single target with both the user's and the victim's Blood at -3 Accuracy. All physical effects such as Damage (Including reduced damage) and debuffs (Including reduced Debuffs) inflicted upon the user, are also inflicted upon the target, and any buffs that the target has activated are dispelled. Further attempts to activate a buff have a 40% chance to fail each round, and gain +10% chance each round maintained.

Note:
- Does not use Handseals.
- The user must have the blood of a target, and must have Reaper of Faith activated.
- Can only effect one target at a time, and negates any other curses the user may have had activated aside from Reaper of Faith. Attempting to use a different curse will dispel this technique.
- Each time the Jashinist/Faithful is attacked, a ninjutsu check is made between the user and those who have had their blood ingested by the Jashinist/Faithful. Upon a successful check, the user and those who have had their blood ingested receive damage.
- All damage and effects done to the victim bypass all forms of reduction and cannot be blocked in anyway or form.
- This Jutsu does not apply to Genjutsu effects or passive effects.

Cost: 4.5 Ap, 3060 Cp and 1020 Hp to initiate. 1460 Cp and 490 hp per round maintained.

It appeared that his presence had been requested at a peculiar location, a place in which he had never venture to before. Unfortunately for him, Kaen had been out of town for quite some time and was not fully aware of the threats that had taken place in this place, the Tracking Grounds. However vague the not was, Kaen would appear just before the designated time none the less, early in fact. Not by too much though, those people who show up half an or more earlier than needed is just strange. He would arrive around 8:45, giving him some time to take in the environment. The day wasn't entirely very exceptional, the weather was fair and normal for a Sunan day. A few clouds, but overall acceptable. There was an almost giddy nervousness about him, everything about this screamed mystery. A usually forbidden location, even for him as a member of Anbu, was exciting to say the least. The forbidden things are always the most interesting...

Approximately five minutes till his appointed time, he would approach the entrance. A pair of equally menacing burly men stood just outside the doors. Armed to the teeth and a look that could kill, they immediately recognized Kaen on sight. This in itself shook Kaen to his core. Just who exactly summoned him?! There were so few people that knew exactly who and what Kaen was. To the general public, Kaen was just a freelance who did odd jobs, his life as a member of the Anbu Corps was kept hidden and secret, even from his own sister, Kasen. So whoever it was, they were high on the food chain of Sunagakure's government. But as usual, Kaen would keep us cool, proceeding forward as if he knew he belonged here all along. With a grunt and a nod, one of the rather large men opened the door for Kaen to allow him entrance. Kaen would simply give a snap of his fingers, ending in a finger gun point towards the man. This along with a well timed wink, Kaen would give his thanks. " -Snap- My man!" Another low, rumbling grunt later, the door was closed securely behind him.

Once within the confines of this incredibly large complex, Kaen soon realized that these guys were much higher up the chain than he originally though. Something this large and complex would require vast amounts of money, more than he could hope the fathom. The walls were made of a strange and peculiar steel, one that he had never come across before. To either side of Kaen, as he proceeded down the mind boggling long hallway, was a thick wall of glass that separated him from something amazing. To one side a pleasant and peaceful looking grassland biome. It looked inviting to say the least. Strange to see though, perhaps an illusion? Kaen wondered for a moment how they were able to create and upkeep such a wide variety of climates and biomes in this place. But as he already surmised, money was the key and money could buy just about anything. The area to his other side looked even more inviting, a thick and teeming forest. Hordes of trees and greenery invaded his senses. However contradicting it may have seemed for him, this would be the preferred place to do battle. Such darkness, much hiding opportunity. He was an Anbu after all, stealth suited him.

"By god, just how fucking long is this thing..." Kaen thought this to himself as he continued down what felt like a cliché' looping hallway. All the while subtle hints of life glinted into view within the forest biome next to him. It was almost a playful little game to keep himself distracted as he ventured forward into the great unknown. A hint of fur, a shimmer of light reflecting off a unique critter's eye. "Oh thank my lucky stars... I thought I was gonna die in here." Kaen had FINALLY come within sight of a door. He picked up his pace, wanting to get out of this horrid hallway once and for all. The mere contemplation that after he finished whatever he was going to do here he would have to return back from whence he came. He shuddered at the thought as he twisted the doorknob and entered. Once inside, he would find himself in a small, quant office setting. How disappointing... "All that way, and for what... A secretaries quarters?!" He was displeased and it was made obvious upon his face. Pursing his lips and furrowing his brow, he took a look around the place. You would think something THIS big would have something neat at its core. Maybe there was a secret entrance... That would be fantastical, now wouldn't it...

Ignoring the man at the desk, Kaen shifted his focus towards the incoming female. She appeared to be young, but her demeanor indicated otherwise. You could see she wanted to be young again, perhaps a life wasted with chasing unclaimed dreams or perhaps just so focused on work she forgot to live her childhood. Kaen understood that better than she might think... She was cute though, despite her unique outward appearance, Kaen would give her the attention she deserved. He needed to figure out just what the hell he was doing here. "Are you Shinku Kaen?" So they knew his name... He wondered for a moment just exctly what else the might have discovered about him. If they knew about his true origins, would they care? No, surely they would and would have acted by now. Unless this was all a trap! Shiori had told him he would be hunted, perhaps this was the final showdown. Kaen would need to answer anyways, it would be rude not to. "I uh..." Kaen's attention was stolen for a brief moment as a pair of medics in the back 'lightly' discussed a well beaten individual. He couldn't make out who it was, but from what they were saying, or rather how they were saying it, they were not in good shape. Shaking his head, he diverted his focus back to the girl in front of him. "Yes, I am him." She was prompt with her answer, perhaps she had a schedule to keep? "Excellent, sign here." She quickly displayed a scroll, in which Kaen would open to read the contents. It all seemed like political mumbo jumbo. Some Liability clause where he would have to agree not to sue should any of the rather interesting situations occurred within these walls. Kaen raised a single brow in curiosity and anticipation. They had his attention now, fully.

"I am sure they filled you in," Kaen would lower his brow and glance up from the scroll, peering into her eyes. "No, no they didn't. They were especially mum about any specific details." She appeared annoyed at the fact, somehow communication issues always managed to find its way into being the core issue of any establishment. "Of course they wouldn't, would they?" Kaen smiled as he signed the paper and handed it back to the young woman. Thankfully she explained it to him, if that is what you could call it. He might have appeared more confused than when he began. "Of course they wouldn't, would they?" Kaen stared blankly towards the girl in astonishment. They had so much money that they were able to build a technological advancement that would forever set Suna's place of power in the world. A controlled environment to test, train and prepare for nearly every scenario was amazing. And they had a power setting?! "I see." Kean responded, using every once of willpower he had to restrain his obvious excitement. A chance to truly test his powers on a simulation was a chance of a lifetime. He only wished that they might let him back in for a round 2. Though the chances were slim, he wasn't quite sure if they were equipped for someone of his fiery magnitude.

After taking back the scroll that she had him sign, she walked over the desk to press a special little button. Upon doing so the walls within folded and unfolded numerous times in a very high tech manner, revealing a set of doors with their own unique labels. Five doors total; desert, grassland, forest, tundra and water. "Pick a biome and enter when you are ready. We have added security measures to the door. Returning will be difficult to say the least. you have thirty seconds to return through the door. Do your best." She would give him an encouraging smile and a thumbs up. For some reason or another, he couldn't quite shake the feeling that it felt sarcastic and forced. Almost as if her very nature was fighting against the encouragement and this was more along the lines of a real life play and she had spent months rehearsing in the mirror. "Heh, alright. I hope your little test can handle my best..." Holy shit he was going to blow himself up again, wasn't he. Kasen was going to kill him! Kaen walked towards the doors, eyeing each one with curiosity. One in particular called out to him, one he found inviting in the ridiculously long hallway from before. "I think I'll go with this one here!" Kaen had chosen the unlikely pair and opened up the door labeled "Forest". As he entered, she had a few final remarks. Though she was unable to finish, Kaen would listen anyways. "Do you have any next of kin, medical issues, excreta that I will need to be aware of when I---" The door slammed shut between him and the interesting gal, trapping him inside the luscious green maze of forest.

Kaen turned around to greet the vibrant landscape, it felt so full of life and energy. He could get used to this place, if he had the rent to pay for it that was. So what were her instructions again? Thirty seconds to simply get back through the door from whence he came? What kind of stupid test was that!? Locked or not, getting through a door was easy enough for even the simplest and weakest of chakra able bodies. Sure the door looked fancy, but it was just a door. Or at least that's what he though up until he gave the handle a turn. It was locked, obviously, but that wasn't the issue. Kaen would soon be painfully aware of just what kind of situation he had gotten himself into. A subtle crackle of energy hummed over the door, raising in increments in which the static noise increased. Gears began to twist and turn and whirl about, this thing was coming to life before his very eyes. It would appear that returning would not be quite as easy as he first thought. And what's worse, it was sentient. Intruder Targeted! Kaen's face was a mess of confusion as he realized exactly what he was meant to do. "Shit..." And it was on!

You were not funny. Neither of the guards even cracked a smile as they let you pass unscathed. They had strict orders concerning you, thankfully they only needed to remember one: let him in.

The sound of footsteps would follow you the entire length of the hall. They were your own, right?

It was like an itch?

The door opened without difficulty. It was just a crappy little office. It had nice things, furniture and stuff not that you likely knew brandnames or how to assess for expert craftsmanship. You really think you have a chance don't you? You think that there is no way than man could not outdo what nature has done. Nature is sloppy. The antithesis of evolution, a fact that mankind has succeeded in disproving even if they have failed at anything else and destroyed what little they have not already failed at. The purpose of evolution is to get stronger. To get stronger so that you can live long enough to fuck and have mini kinda-sorta yous running around. That is what nature is when you hear the crickets outside of your door, they are trying to get laid. The woodpecker with the sharpest, longest beak gets the most and the best insects and therefore outlives its blunt-beaked peers, bangs the hottest woodpecker chick that would have him and perhaps some of his offspring share his boon. This happens at every level of the animal kingdom except for mankind. What do humans do when they cannot see well, they invent and then wear glasses. They appear anemic with their sallow coloring, men are biological disinclined to want to reproduce with a woman in poor health... then she dons make-up.

Then we have you, a boy who is almost a man. In a lot of ways you are but you feel young inside don't you, a bit too young to be here. Yet here you are. A little, damaged boy wearing the skin of a man, thinking now that you can fight.

Kaen had chosen the door labeled "Forest". It was dark, under the canopy (both you and the door earn stealth bonus'. Yes, the door has a stealth stat.) of leaves that almost blotted out the sun. it was cool in here and moss covered the ground. These trees, all of which were indeed real trees had thick and knotted roots that twisted about the ground and would feel slick underfoot. You could feel eyes watching you, yes there were creatures in this forest but they seemed to posses wisdom enough to maintain some space between themselves and the door.

The door hummed.

You would try the door and it would not open. It was not meant to open again. Not so soon that is. Hidden compartments about the frame would open up, revealing the mad-person's creations all housed within. This door dices and slices and shreds. If it could be done violently, yes this door could also do your taxes.

As you released your fingers from the door you would discover that your fingers were painted red. The 'paint' was fresh. Beneath your feet, the that slick moss was not as slick as it was ...moist. Yes, you knew that color. You knew that feel. That was blood.

Only one effect may happen per use. Because of the intense power, damage from this jutsu cannot be reduced by mantle of fire.     Blood Magic: - By paying 10% of a Jutsu's cost in Hp, the user can turn a Ninjutsu into a "Dark" Element Attack. This Blood jutsu does not require handseals, and deals +5% damage, and bypasses 5% of Damage Reduction. These effects may stack up to three times in one Jutsu.

<SIZE size="150">Narrative:

Initiating... Six - Eighty Nine - Twenty Four - Thirty Eight - Fifty Seven... The door whined, a visual assault of light and sound would prelude the onslaught.

The door behind you was eerie quiet, the dense trees and the canopy that darkened your battleground. You could melt into that darkness and use this strange green world to survive. You activate your curse or perhaps your boon. The dark corruption surges through your young body. You have become more powerful but power like all things comes with a dire price. You are like a candle being burned on both ends, while you shine more brightly for the time being you will quickly burn out. But you only need to last 30 seconds.

Something belches forth from the door. A pair of barrels with strange seals ascribed on the surface roll out and bounce off the ground. They skid to a stop after crashing into a tree but they do nothing.

The chakra cannon on the shoulder of the door ratchets about as it takes aim. With a high-pitched whine a burst of chakra illuminates the forest for a brief moment. In that moment before you feel the burn you would see how many creatures played the role of silent observer. You would recognize some, such as the sandstriders and sunan crows not that you had time to think about it. A ring of fire separated you from their curious gaze, these magical flames danced in the darkness making what was once dreary bright. The flames would lick at the trees causing some of the smaller branches to catch fire.

Reacquiring target.<i></i>

The door, built on hidden pistons shot forward into your personal space. Well part of the door. It did not move away from the wall quite far enough, perhaps these pistons had a limited range. Perhaps it was merely as far as the door could or rather would travel in such a short period of time. In truth it was neither, that was simply where the door needed to be, even if the flames scalded its polished finish. The implements extended from there, now within your ring.

A burst of heat would erupt from you, even an unfeeling creation such as the door would feel the oppressive heat in its circuits. OH THE HUMANITY!

One of the doors many metal arachnid-like arms would descend to a space immediately before you.

It was shiny... so shiny... and spinny! And shiny... so shiny....

It was distracting you, distracting you with its devious repetative movements. You would know that your mind was being manipulated by this A Rank technique. It would be up to your mental fortitude to overcome this psychic assault but this would be the last hit the door has on you. The door launches a stream of flames that cut through your ring and out the other side into the distant darkness lighting a trail of flames into the distance. You could hear a Sunan Crow screech in protest, glowing tips on its winds it would fly away and extinguish its flames. But what about you? That attack came out of nowhere. There was no way you could avoid that attack, yet you were untouched by the door's seemingly reckless assault.

You were prepared and you benefited from this.

Perhaps that was why you thought you could take the risk. You were smarter than a dam door. After-all it had splinters and gears for brains! Maybe you believed that lady luck was on your side. She was not. Lady luck is a capricious bitch. You created something both beautiful and terrible from your flame. The fearsome otherworldly image you created would turn at look at you. It was too powerful! YOU GAVE IT TOO MUCH! You beautiful fool! The flames were glowing brighter and brighter until.... it burst into a torrent of flames. You were immolated by your own creation. The fire would blister your flesh and burn away at your crimson tresses. It would hurt.

Tsk... Tsk...

It was true, the insatiable scratch that surely would haunt Kaen for all of eternity was ever present. Like the massively incessant ocean that covered the world, that scratch would rise and fall like the tides, forever crashing against the shoreline of Kaen's mind. However much Kaen sated his craving, his lust for battle, that feeling would eventually rise again and the itch would be renewed. But was this a curse? Perhaps not, some relish the heat of the moment, the constant threat that today might be your last. Masochistic might be a bit of a strong word, but Kaen was just the type to get the job done by any means necessary. And if that meant he needed to burn in his own glorious flames, then so be it...

As the door whirred to life it spouted out a curious series of numbers, while confused at first, Kaen would soon learn their meaning. The door spewed forth a couple large pair of barrels which collided with some nearby trees. Kaen had never seen a puppet let alone a puppet trap. It was obvious he had no clue as to what the hell they were, more so considering that the makers of such a complex and sophisticated contraption surely wouldn't use mundane ways of deploying such deceptions. Kaen, being the sort of young man he was, began to dig deep within his inner being. His queen, Shiori, Mother of Suna had bestowed upon him a great many things. One such boon would be utilized to its fullest extent. If this 'Door' was as powerful as they told him it would be, he would need to be fully prepared even if that meant greatly damaging his chakra network in the process. It was a heavy price to pay for the power that it brought, but he always recovered after a short stint of time. He could feel it now, welling up inside his body. A slow rumble that quickly erupted into a geyser of energy that enveloped his entire body until finally the climax ensued and his body was changed drastically. It was strange really, to witness the effects of dark fire. Normal fire, a human's fire, was bright and lit the way. But this fire that slowly exuded from Kaen was unnaturally dark and sinister. Like an aura of shadows, Kaen was enveloped in a corrupted font of power that would surely would ensure his survival for a measly thirty seconds, or at least one could hope...

And then it began, the door buzzed, whirred and stirred to life as a pair of oddly shaped spouts directed their attention towards the enigmatically cloaked firebug. Kaen winced in an attempt to lessen the intensity of the light that was brought about by the charging of these apparent chakra canons. Kaen was baffled about how they were able to store such energy, but he had little time to contemplate such scientific wonders of the modern age. He was sent cascading backwards as the beam of energy made impact, rolling for a short distance, a massive root finally stopped him. A loud crunch echoed across the forest as he collided with the large mossy root, it split and cracked upon the sheer force that the canons sent Kaen with. It was a strange sensation, to feel something go through you as if none of your armor mattered. Normally he would have felt a little less than this, but it was as if this thing transcended the laws of nature dealing its full force to Kaen. "Fucking shit that hurt! They weren't kidding, this thing is no joke..." Kaen cleared his throat and picked himself off the forest floor and recomposed himself.

"Alright then, you hunk of metal. Let's see how you like this!" With expertly weaved signs, Kaen summoned forth a personal favorite of his, the ring of fire. Each time he has used this, his foe was cleverly deceived into sending their jutsu headstrong into his flames only for them to fizzle out and die. There was no way that this stupid door could get thro~~ -BOOM- "What the hell?!" There was a loud crash that resounded through his barrier of fire. Something big and heavy was attempting to force its way through. There was no way in hell this door just got up and moved way over here, no fucking way... And then it emerged, flames licking its surface with every inch it moved through his wall of flames. Kaen's demeanor, if one could have seen through his opaque aura of dark fire, would be that of pure shock and amusement. This thing was everything that he could hope for and everything that he should fear. This creation was marvelous and yet somewhat terrifying. So much so that the temperature seemed to rise, a heat wave if you will. The excitement was growing ever more by the second.

A wave of delirium washed over his mind and then the pain ensued, Kaen knew what was going on and yet his mind succumbed to this treachery. At every turn this wicked door continued to surprise him. Not only could this door fire off massive bursts of energy, it could move AND cast genjutsu. Kaen's head swirled in confusion, and not just because of the genjutsu he was placed in. Kaen flung through a series of hand signs in the hopes that his trained mind might work out a step ahead of this thing. He had no knowledge of this thing and when nothing is certain, anything is possible. Thankfully he had thought ahead of time like he did, as the strange contraption somehow utilized the very fires Kaen had produced and a raging inferno attempted to take him down from behind. Kaen's body flickered out of existence as an after image of shadows dissipated in the location he was just at. He reappeared nearby thankful of his quick thinking.

"Alright alright alright, enough of this horseplay. Let's bring out the big guns, shall we?" The bane of his current state of life, youth. And with such young came brash and cocky behavior. Kaen was no exception, despite his many adult qualities, he was still a young man at heart. As most young men are, Kaen is no different in his shortcomings to his biology. If there is something to be won, he must be that winner. Life is a competition and he must win. And so he let loose his ultimate creation, his abyssal harbinger of fire, doom and fury. It was not often he would pour such tremendous amounts of energy into a single action, but he intended to go out with a bang. Though there in lies the issue, doesn't it... Kaen was hasty in his summoning, sloppy upon the execution. Whether it be from excitement or just blindly turning an eye the limits of his power, Kaen's creation kept taking more and more energy until finally imploded in on itself and backfiring upon Kaen. The blow he suffered was greater than any other he had taken all at once, more so than he had even sustained fighting this horrible machine. Kaen could only laugh while being burned alive by his own flames. It was comforting to know the capabilities of his own power, even if it meant experiencing them himself. He pondered just how much it might hurt had he used another favorite of his. Kaen could only shake his head clear of his otherwise foolish and disappointing incident and push forward. After all he only needed to last another twenty seconds, piece of cake, right?

The Narrative
You were as reckless as you were dangerous. Your curse would hide you in the woods. The woods were dark and frightful but they protected you for a time. The Door would lash out and twice it would not find you. Some of its oil, the mechanical equivalent of oil had found its way onto your hands. It would have a putrid taste but perhaps it would give you the link you required, a bond of holy anguish. you could feel the door inside of you, that slick dark oil that made your stomach sour. YES! You were bound, the door was a part of you. The Door would know your divine pain as if it was their own.

On the ground, ascribed in your own blood would be the seal. The seal that united the Door and you. Would it work? It was madness to consider such things but blood magic was old and forbidden for a reason. Your blood would turn dark as your prayer was answered and just in time! Upon the third attack by the Door, a pillar of metal would shoot out from the center of the door and crash through a tree before it and hit out in the mid-section. The wind would be knocked out of you, the sense of air hunger being worse than the pain. You knew how to take pain. You knew how to survive, or rather how to barely survive. Still you fell odd, your neck would ache. You would have a sense of tactile loss, a tingling. Some of your chakra was getting backed up in your chakra coils. You might not know this, not right away. It was not like you were a medic but you likely knew your own body so you would know that there was something wrong with your ability to mold and manipulate chakra.

That was not enough to stop you. The battle had only just begun!

You sent a fireball off into the sky. It was large and it was only getting larger and more powerful as the seconds passed. It would start to descend, its trajectory aimed for your immediate vicinity. You included within the fallout. You were a madman. An alarm would go off. DANGER! A red flashing light and a siren would go off. DANGER! The siren would be deafening. Imminent impact in T minus 10 seconds! The Door had calculated the fireball's arrival, yes but more importantly it calculated the fact that YOU were within its fallout. This went against the door's programming and created an impossible moment.

The fireball had not reached its arc yet but its landing was already known. However it could not abort yet, you were still standing. Actual impact could be fatal but it had not been fully defined. Error: 0xDEADDEAD

Inside the proctor would see the blue screen of death. She would type furiously on her keyboard but the door would not respond. "Holy crap!"

Meanwhile the Door went into a frenzy and barraged Kaen with attacks that seemed to be performed at random but with devastating accuracy. They would all hit him and with each hit a new dent could be seen in the door. Does not Compute! Does not Compute![/center]

Kaen collected his wits, letting the ring of fire flicker and die out, no sense in sustaining a fruitless endeavor. This hunk of metal, or 'The Door', was a lot smarter than he first anticipated. He can only wonder as to who and what exactly its creators were and why design such a creative piece of machinery. Or rather how, even. It was smarter than the average human, able to anticipate movements quicker, calculate routes of attack easier, make split decisions at only a fraction of what the human brain could. It was almost embarrassing that he had not already destroyed this door, but of course Kaen had no way of knowing just how advanced and superior its creators made this scientific marvel to be. No other choice than to just press on through this little test and hope for the best. Surely Mother Suna was watching over him during this little bout, Kaen could only wonder if she would smile upon him this day.

Kaen jumped backwards into the brush, disappearing from sight. His boon unnaturally concealing his presence bought him some time to perform some necessary preparations. -CRASH- Kaen quickly shifted his head in response, this damn thing was still searching for him, blasting its way through trees and rocks with ease. Sooner or later it would find him, he needed to act quick. Quickly weaving a few signs, a shimmering cloak surrounded his body compounding on his already hidden nature. -WOOSH- A nearby tree was uprooted and torn to shreds in the wake of a massive blast of wind from the door. But what's this? With all the commotion it seemed this thing wasn't quite as perfect as he first though, it was leaking... Hesitant at first, Kaen swallowed his suspicions and relied on the strength that his Queen, the Mother of Suna granted him. He took a sample and ingested it quickly. First nothing, and then he felt it. A hint in the back of his mind that told him it was working. The ways of Ancients were indeed curious, but powerful and effective all the same. Kaen smirked as his body adapted to the curse. Just as soon as he finished the scribing of his unholy seal, Kaen was surprised. There was a subtle crunch that resounded over his body, the shrapnel from the tree splintering every which way. A massive pillar of steel had punched its way through a tree and found Kaen's body.

As Kaen laid there dazed, he had a moment of clarity. He had another favorite of his, something powerful. That itch scratched in the back of his minder harder now than ever, a crazed thought wormed its way into his mind. Kaen knew the capabilities of his curse, that vile connection that bound him to whatever's life essence he could bind to himself. He couldn't be certain that it would work, but the least he could do is try, right? Kaen, still buried under the rubble lifted began to weave a furious string of seals before popping out of his hiding place thrusting his hands high into the air. Most might not have known what he had done, it was to far away to be that easily detected. And yet...

Kaen had completed the jutsu, it was on its way. But he had no choice than to cover his ears and cringe as alarms blared at a near permanent deafening rate. It was so loud, how was it so loud. What the hell was wrong with this thing?! And then it spoke once more, how the fuck did it know? This thing was inhuman, that much was known, but to be able to see past his skills and technique, expertly knowing the precise moment in which his Sol Fire would strike. This thing was ridiculous! Its inner workings rumbled and clanked as it spouted more errors and malfunctioning sounds. And then it happened... It would appear that Mother Suna was not watching over him this day, or perhaps she was and this was his just punishment for failing her commands back in Kumogakure. The Door sent multiple cascading waves of attacks that washed over Kaen in a most horrifying way. And all he could do was stand there within his cursed seal and feel the devastation that was brought upon his fiery body. In a sense it was liberating, a feeling of pure joy that something so powerful existed. And yet... disappointment that it was only a machine. In the aftermath of this chaotic event, Kaen could only stare blankly into the distance. He was baffled that such a crescendo be so easily utilized. A small spurt of blood escaped his mouth as he coughed, Kaen was hurting. But he wasn't done yet, he was never done. "No no, that's fine guys." Who was he talking to? Perhaps whomever might have been watching, because surely SOMEBODY was. "I don't mind being your guinea pig to test out your stupid malfunctioning machine. Only 10 seconds left before I'm out. I hope you like my surprise..." Kaen spread wide his razor sharp toothy maw, grinning ear to ear. He cackled most satisfyingly as he faded back into the darkness to prepare his finale.

Narrative

Kaen disappeared once again. Between the trees, in the dark. Slivers of light would filter in between the leaves of the thick overhead canopy. The Door would seek you out but it would not find you. Your stealth would be your greatest defense. Hiding kept you alive longer than fighting with reckless abandon would. He was still a madman and he was about to burn out. And did he ever go out with a bang.

The explosion, or rather series of explosions would come out of nowhere. It would be blinding and it would crack the cameras and cause the video feed to burn out. The hinges would start to melt, the molten metal dripping down the length of the frame. The video would not return, the proctor would bang on the keyboard twice. Nothing would happen. She would not see the concluding moments of the fight but her heart would race. "Shit, I hope that he did not get killed," she muttered as she looked over at the medics behind her. "Burn ward for this one I guess," she warned them. She would reach for the door but it was blistering hot. She would pull her hand away, her palm was already scalded.

Inside, it would take a few additional seconds for it to register for the door that you have been knocked unconscious. After a stone took away your last fragment of health, the door would hurl another. The rock would land on your legs, probably crushing them but you were already sleeping so you would not feel a thing. This was for the best, your final, madman attack had reentered orbit and ignited the battlefield. The leaves would burn away leaving a clear path of descent. As for you, your body or at least what was left of it would be blackened and charred.

It would be another minute before the proctor would... or rather could enter the forest environment with the Medics.

"Crap... He's not dead is he?" She sifted through the release forms to find Kaen's with a sigh.

The Medic shook his head. Apparently you were still alive, that was good. That meant the Door did its job.

"He did pretty good," she commented as she let the Medics work on you. They would roll the rock off your legs. It was heavy. One would kneel alongside your burnt body and start unraveling a roll of bandages. "Don't think we have enough bandages," he complained.

"Dude, Crispy 'aint bleeding, what are you bandaging! Let's get him on the gurney and outta here." Yes, the Medic gave you a nickname.

"Lady Doc needs to pin his name and stats to... uhh..." He would look down on you. It was hard to tell if it was burnt flesh or burnt clothes. He hoped the former but grimaced at the thought. "Guess I will drop it off at the Omni Prime."

Yes, she was compiling some stats regarding your efforts. What she felt could be done to improve your battle potential and most importantly what your name was so that the Medics at the Omni Prime knew who they were treating.

The fiery climax resulted in cataclysmic annihilation of Kaen's body. Even his best, masochistic, tactics were not enough to best the door. It was indeed a sad day for the little firebug. How could anyone expect him to defeat anyone if he can't even beat a hunk of metal. All in all, he did his best and failed all the same. The months he spent recovering at the Omni Prime facility would be spent in shame and deep contemplation in regards to this pathetic attempt at besting the door and the resulting failure that ensued. He let not only himself down, but Mother Suna and even his sister. Kaen was not fit for combat, he still did not have enough power. In time he would find this power, but for now he will rest.
