Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

One might have assumed that due to the refined exterior and calm mannerisms that Yeong was a low-key figure with a laid back personality. This became an external truth after many years of taught discipline by his 'grandmothers' rule. Growing up in a merchants house there were always a number of strange items to play with and possibly break. The old woman that raised him would always have a long strip of wood handy with which to crack Yeong across the knuckles with, should he become unruly. After such a long time of this disciplinary reinforcement, his outward rigidity became drilled in as a matter of common practice.

Internally, however, he always remained that same energetic child with an interest in new things and a yearning urge to become embroiled in new sensations. It is that refinement that was drilled into him that keeps it suppressed within. The almost jittery, butterfly feeling, that he contains within his belly is an everpresent reminder to the childlike enthusiasm that boils away beneath the surface. It's only been in recent years, with his development of chakra education, that he's been able to harness this energy into a more productive focus.

Creeeeak.... The strain the wood made under the force of his shearing blade filled the room. Tiny scraps of shavings already coated the floor as pieces of bark broke off of the unsightly trunk of a log that sat in front of Yeong. Centered in his workshop, he fulfilled himself with one of his many labors of love. While sometimes he would endeavor to pursue creative outlets to focus his mind, typical through song or painting, he had engaged in a long term project over the course of the last few months.

So many stacks of timber passed through the village, a number of them meant for the various shinobi that so often used them as a target for their various jutsu. It created an inflation, meaning that the cost of wood was a shoppers market. This was something that someone raised by a merchant could easily understand. Getting a hold of enough wood on a students salary was hard enough, especially when he hadn't taken any missions. Still, he had managed to accumulate an impressive amount of resources to pool together on this one task.

His workshop was uncharacteristically cluttered with wood working tools he had been loaned. Various paints and brushes littered the floor, saved only by tiny mats to prevent their colors from permanently staining the ground beneath. He had taken it upon himself to gather brightly colored stones from the river just on the outskirts of the village and bringing them home. A small pile of them lay hidden beneath the mix of ruined and mishappen logs he had failed to carve properly as he found his pace.

There were many nights when his grandmother would force him to sleep, the sound of sanding becoming much too loud to allow her to sleep. It was imperative that the wood is smooth before he lacquered and painted it. Every curve had to be just so, or he would add it to his discard pile and start again. As his first project, it needed to be perfect or he wouldn't dare show it to the world. What ended up laying before him were a number of segments that stretched from wall to wall, each one with a stone sized indent and a curve on either end that appeared designed to interlock with one another.

Using his sanding tools, he polished and shaped his precious stones until they were just the right size to fit into each of the gaps in the wood. Two rounded onyx stones rested atop the first piece, with a tear drop piece of blue kyanite resting between them. On each piece behind the first one, he placed a far larger blue zircon. Taking his time, he collected his paint sets and decided on just the right mixture of golds and browns with which to color the wood. Etching a slightly scaled pattern in first, he followed this up with a second and third tier paint job to be sealed in with a lacquer.

After months of toil, he held his hands together and looked down at his work. Almost letting out a stifled laugh of glee, he was ecstatic with the outcome. Before him on the ground was a human sized serpent, far too stiff to ever be considered real but nevertheless a source of pride for his skill as an artist. Stretching his hands apart, he felt the strings of chakra form between his fingertips. Hurling his hands forwards, he attached the essence of himself to each part of the serpent. "Welcome to the world..." he whispered, playing his hands like a marionette and causing the puppet to dance before him.

Slithering across the ground, it was large enough to ride upon, should he so desire. At the same time, it could also serve as an object to protect himself with should the need ever arise. The mere thought of his pride being hurt in such a way made him recoil mentally. Almost as if to distract himself, he realized he had no name to call his new creation by. Curling a finger towards himself, the serpents head slithered up and in front of Yeongs. "I shall call you... Imugi..." Clasping his fingers in, making fists of both hands, he pulled the chakra strings inwards. The serpent collapsed in on itself, not to fall apart, but each segment colliding until it was small enough to slide inside the sleeves of his hanbok and encircle his arms like a series of braces.

Folding his arms over one another, as was typical of his posture, he smiled... before looking at the mess his room had become. The frown that followed would last an equivalent amount of time as it took to clean the mess up.

It had been some time since he had recovered from his injuries, the last survival class having been far more befitting of its name than the previous. The burns to his hands and face had almost completely healed, due to the well-trained medic-nin and their finely honed chakra use. Still, he had sought fit to remain at home rather than show off what he considered to be disfiguring remarks that only served to provide credit to his inadequacy. Instead, he had chosen to focus on measures that might improve his abilities in future classes and lessons.

The first thing he set himself on was upgrading Imugi. While the puppet had not been a source of any contention in his last class, having never seen a battle in the first place, he recognized a few things in its construction that his newly levied failures could improve. There was a drain that he felt, using genjutsu against an unwilling and hostile target for the first time. It was something he felt could really prevent him from engaging in protracted battle, should it come to it, and should it mean life and death he would rather it not be the cause of any answer.

So he had used his extensive contacts, which was to say his grandmother's contacts, to find a pair of rare gems passing through the region. Rumor had it that they could enhance the chakra flow of whoever held on to them. Smoothing both stones out with a rock tumbler kit, he refashioned them into a set of teardrop shaped eyes and placed them on the face piece of his puppet Imugi. This way, with his chakra strings connected to the dancing snake he could feel his natural reserves of mental strength replenish so long as the serpent was before him.

The second step was to ensure that the puppet would always be available to him at a moments notice. He had designed Imugi to be defensive, to block incoming attacks should he not be able to move out of the way. This was why he was so fluid and matching his user's size, at the same time he found this to be a bit of a hurdle when it came to transporting. There was a matter of his segmented frame, each piece was held together by his chakra strings and thus could be transported separately if need be. That would be the key improving deployment and transport of the puppet.

Hollowing out sections of the Imugi's frame would allow Yeong to carry it almost like jewelry beneath the fluttering robes of his hanbok. Quick reactions speeds with his chakra strings could allow the puppet to assemble before him from his appendages, like a snowman being built by the seeming chance of a landslide. It was as much a work of art as the puppets initial creation, except this time it would be done each time he fielded it in battle.

Another portion of his genjutsu skill that he had found lacking was the fact that he had required himself to be detected the moment he had tried to instigate control over his opponents mind. He had only a moment to form the hand seals required to begin to mentally assail the shadow that had been his enemy, but in that moment she had not only asserted her own control over him but had also lain a trap to which he had too quickly stumbled into. If he were able to somehow improve his ability, perhaps not so much with speed but effect, he could enhance his genjutsu to the point where one might not realize the source of it to be able to counter it.

Instead of finding hostile targets to practice upon, Yeong simply began meditative lessons in silence. Imagining new vistas and locations, expanding his imagination to be able to encompass new illusions with which to give his genjutsu new life. He felt the key to improving his ability was not in the abilities themselves, but with the acumen that his mind could properly focus on the things which he would force into the senses of others. Even if he could telegraph his thoughts across a country, there would be no use to them if they were lacking in every sense.

This silent meditation served not only to hone his mind but his body as well. He had suffered, not serious but still aggravated, wounds in his last outing. Blood had been spilled and he was not accustomed to how weak his body truly was. Maintaining his focus, he pushed chakra through every portion of his body, especially those that had been injured in his latest outing. While not medically trained, he could feel the added energy filling those spaces which felt like they were on the verge of death... aiding in their recuperation. It was not perfect, nor even near the level of a medic-nin's training, but it was something that could help at least.
