Osore was trained to heal and hurt. His duel natures in life were the result of the leader of his clan desiring someone who could not only remove obstacles in the way of the clan's path but to heal those of the clan who were injured during the course of their own duties, including Osore himself. His training in the medical field was done under the tutelage of the finest surgeons of the Isaki clan. Through their experience they managed to teach the child how to heal even the most grievous of wounds. This was training he would use for the rest of his life in order to aid the clan. It also gave him a leg up in combat by letting him know what tells to look for when an opponent began flagging. By knowing the signs to look for he could rally himself in a fight, pushing to higher and higher potentials by knowing that his foe was suffering from Osore’s training. The knowledge that he was not only putting his skills to use, but doing so by tearing someone else’s body apart to better understand the things which make them tick. He reveled in such moments, finding true joy in them.
Oddly, he also seemed to fight harder when he himself was on the receiving end of such punishment. His armor was constantly keeping him doped on painkillers to dull, but never eliminate, the agony he is constantly in. By taking a beating from someone else he begins to truly feel alive and will often respond to this with a surge of adrenaline that shadows the burst of strength a mother might get by finding out her child is trapped under an armored stagecoach. During such moments Osore has been known to become faster, hit harder, and his mind becomes more challenging to invade from the endorphin rush. Such moments add to his already prodigious strength, a strength that is often compared to a charging rhinoceros.
Osore never stopped growing, and as he grew his muscles also grew with him. He can lift more than the average shinobi, and has often been seen as a wall to those who attack him, absorbing blows and dealing devastating counter attacks in return. For all of his amazing power, it seems to have actually aided instead of hampered his speed with attacking and made strikes more accurate even as they grow increasingly wild.
Of course, his main way of not dying is to merely avoid being hit. His training focused on speed and damage above all else, and he came away knowing best how to defend himself. A successful brawler was the one who came out alive, and being alive meant not being hit. His technique is not all-out offense like his cousin Naikishin’s training allows him to do, but instead a valuable meshing of defensive styles and offensive styles. He knows how to use his armor to block attacks and send them wide. Few shinobi use armor, and so his proper use of it can come as a surprise to most. The material of the armor is quite dense, and provides an amazing defense from which he can launch an offensive. His skill at using it for deflection is quite inspiring to those who cannot do such a thing, as he can often even send an attack away from him and to another of his foes. He enjoys doing this, forcing his enemies to attack each other, as it only aids him with no downsides when it occurs. This does create wear on his armor, however, and he is constantly getting it refitted by the doctors of his clan.
In addition to the blocking, Osore is adept at acrobatics and dodging. His size belies the speed and agility hidden within his form, and he is capable of the same feats of such as any other shinobi. Many are the opponent who stare dumbfounded as their sword thrust is not only avoided, but the giant steps on the blade and brings it down to the ground with the same ease most people would tie their shoes. His constant motion is also part of his skill with blocking, as he rarely presents a flat surface for attacks to land on, more often giving them a moving or curved target for the attack to slide off. He can also use this skill to take one by surprise, for few things will cause fear as much as a seven foot tall mountain doing a standing leap ontop of their heads. The weight of him and him armor also have the bonus effect when he does this of caving in skulls or shattering spines. It’s truly a no-loss situation for the Isaki when he chooses to use his superior acrobatic talents in a fight.
Osore knows how to work with others when the time comes, for allies are the key to a fight. There is something romantic about the one on one, the mano y mano duel between two. 1上の1つの. There is nothing, however, romantic about being dead, and people who shun help in a fight tend to wind up that way. He’ll take an ally, or two, or as many as he can get, so long as it helps him to complete whatever mission he happens to be on when those allies join up with him. And when the time comes, if they’re capable of fighting likewise, he can often form close bonds that will allow him to work together in unique ways with these people. That’s not to say he doesn’t sometimes lose focus however. Osore is not above singling out a foe for a special kind of beating, and his rage often gets the better of him, making him ignore all around him for the sole purpose of introducing that one jerk’s head and face and body to various hard, ungiving things in the room as often as he can in a short time. It’s not rare for him to run past four weaker foes just to feed his fist to the tougher one who insulted him first.
On the flipside of things, he has been trained in offensive combat also. Osore can target the various weak points on the body with pinpoint precision, bringing even a better trained foe to incompetence with only a few hits. He more often goes for the direct method of damage, however, and prefers to grab hold and simply twist until something breaks. To him, a bone breaking in his hands is the best feeling in the world, for it lets him know he’s done his part to put things to right. Right of course being whatever the clan wants it to be. He was also given the training to combine his attacks. If he has no allies around, this can often save his life. As his teacher said, ‘you have two hands because I wanted you to. If you only needed one I’d take the other one off so you can lose some unnecessary weight! Now get that other fist up and by god you best beat me half to death with it too or I’m going to make you wish you had!’
His primary method of combat is with his bare hands, and he likes it that way. The feel of his fists hitting another person, even through the gloves of his armor he can relish in the sensation of a face turning into ground beef under his hands. He often ‘forgets’ to have his gloves refitted, letting the pits and screatches and other imperfections add a little something extra to his attacks. He also enjoys some of the more unique fighting moves offered this way, such as bodily slamming his opponents into each other or suplexing them into the walls.
