Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Doi stepped out into the middle platform. A brief survey of the stands confirmed that they were empty; exactly as he'd expected around this time. Today was the day he'd chosen to spar with an acquaintance, a fellow named Hon he'd met a while back. Letting forth a deep sigh, the teen stretched his limbs in preparation. Doi's current attire consisted of a plain grey hoodie, cargo shorts and black shinobi sandals. It was a notable departure from his normal battle attire and much more casual in nature.

The teen sat down on the platform floor and relaxed as he awaited Hon's arrival. Doi was excited to test his Ninjutsu capabilities against the younger boy's Taijutsu prowess.

'It shouldn't be long for he gets here', he thought.

So having watched Hoshi’s fight back at Tea Country must’ve ignited Doi as he challenged the Hyuuga to a battle here. That was a random assumption that Hon made inside his head as he landed on one of the pillars holding up the round wall of Vespasian Colosseum. He could see the white-haired friend of his waiting for him down at the arena’s platform.

Guess he shouldn’t’ wait too long…

Hon was donning his blue kung fu clothes and white pants along with shinobi sandals; pretty neat if you asked him. His bluish Hakumei Byakugan shone brilliantly, casting a faint blitz from his position at the pillar before leaping off. The dust on the ground a few meters away from Doi would scatter as Hon landed, announcing his presence. Doing a little ‘enter street fighter’ pose before facing Doi with an ordinary Hyuuga stance, Hon began speculating if it was a bit too much for him… this was just a spar, after all. “Good time you chose. There aren’t many people present now… which means that we can go all out.”

It was a mystery where Hon’s limits laid as well as Doi’s. Hon hadn’t found the occasion to show everything that he’d got except in his fight against Suika… or did that fight count, even? Either way, this wouldn’t be like Hoshi’s tournament round back at Tea - this was more… well, casual, perhaps. Truth be told, he wasn’t sure where this would go… but that was the magic of any battle, right?

Doi gave a slight smirk upon Hon’s arrival. ”Way to arrive in style,” said the white-haired boy as he stood up. “Yeah, I felt we’d do better without any bystanders around,” said the teen in response to Hon. He used his right hand to motion for the other teen to enter the middle platform. It was time to make the only clear rules for this spar known. “As far as rules go, lets try not kill or injure one another. I’d say just about everything else goes.” Doi looked up at the stands once again. “It’d be nice if we could limit the damage to the colosseum too. I heard they’d recently renovated the place.”

The white-haired boy knew that last statement applied more to him than to Hon. He did tend to get carried away sometimes. Frankly, Doi thought it was fun throwing out high level jutsu in rapid succession. He did have the chakra for it, after all.

“Anything you want to add?”

Doi gave Hon time to respond before moving to the edge of the platform and activating his Storm Mail technique.

“Shall we begin?”

It was time to test their abilities against one another.

Okay. No killing or injuring each other too much. Hon would get in a lot of trouble, otherwise… but collateral damage? As if Hon’s fighting style didn’t only resolve on slapping and poking people tremendously. Also, they recently renovated the place? Hon couldn’t help but cackle a little, thinking about fiery ginger-sensei unwinding around here.

Anything that he wanted to add? Not really, Hon was fine with the rules. Discreetly, he shot a hook attached to a very thin wire to the ground behind him as he replied: “Yeah, I wanna add a countdown; 3, 2, 1- GO!!!” Without further explanation, he dashed straight forward from his previous position, almost flying as he didn’t touch the ground anymore and was nearing Doi’s position in what felt like a nano-moment. His bluish Byakugan left a smooth trail of light in his trajectory as he lifted his right palm to go in for a left-aimed slap to the cheek…

’Fast,’ thought Doi as his opponent almost instantly closed the distance between them both; Byagukan activated and all. Hoshi was just as fast as far as he could recall.... it must’ve been a Hyuuga thing. Fortunately, the white-haired teen’s storm chakra armor elevated his speed tremendously and thus allowed for him to avoid the incoming strike by dashing to the side; creating his own trail of bright magenta light. This armor was one of the best defenses Doi had against speedy Taijutsu types like Hon. They ran the risk of being electrocuted if they got too close. Though, it would take a lot of concentration to maintain while letting forth other jutsu.

Having avoided the strike and successfully creating some more space between them, Doi unleashed two long tendrils of spiraling water towards his opponent in the hopes of doing some damage. What followed was the creation of a wieldable whip made of water that he would use as a weapon for the time being. It wouldn’t do him any good if he started with big attacks from the jump and he needed to wear his opponent down.

After that, the teen continued to move in his chakra armor induced state. He himself had to stay in motion to counteract Hon’s own blindingly fast speeds.

"Shit, no...!" A magenta blitz of lightning caught Hon’s view as he found himself not reaching Doi’s cheek in time. His own Byakugan’s blue trail would move and follow the magenta trail for a brief moment, watching his next move. There was a surge of Lightning and Water chakra surrounding him like a piece of armor - it was likely to counter Hon’s close combat style. Although, the Hyuuga didn’t expect it to recoil damage back at him as his right elbow caught a current from Doi’s Storm Mail and took a hit, forcing him to brake his momentum. The current was the Lightning part of the chakra armor… then maybe the Water affinity made up the defensive part.

And without the defense, what would happen to the offense?

He had to figure it out now. A little desperate backflip later, he was found midair with a water tendril heading right for his body - he should’ve used this to avoid the mail if he knew about its presence, but he pulled back the wire stuck to the ground which jolted his body to the side, avoiding the tendril wildly. As his feet landed, a smoke erupted from his position and covered a good chunk of the area. From the smoke, Hon intended to create three clones and have each transform into a shuriken - said shurikens would charge out from the smoke and seemingly approach not Doi, but the few meters radius around Doi.

They would turn back to normal clones and each have a flying Air Palm ready to launch at his position like lines of wind vacuums aiming towards the same point of impact - the intention was to cover the 360 degrees around Doi and use that to the Hakumei Byakugan’s advantage. Each would announce this technique: "Hon-Style: Eight Triagrams Focus Point!" From the smoke, though, Hon didn't see the water whip; and his Byakugan didn't give him access to shared vision... that much was hidden from him in that brief moment.

Vision obstructed by the smoke, Doi distinctly heard what sounded like three voices announce a technique. The volley of shurikan he’d heard wiz by moments ago must’ve really been clones in disguise. An underhanded, yet very common, use for them. ’Disguising clones as weapons and using smoke to hide his movements… old school but effective.’

The teen had never heard of a ‘Hon style’ before, so he had no clue what it was that was going to happen next. Doi swung his water whip around in an attempt to dispel the clones before they could let off their technique. He did manage to strike one, the hit being confirmed by the obvious sound of a clone dispelling. Unfortunately, that still left two clones to attack m. Those that remained were able to let off their pressurized wind techniques and successfully hit Doi. A bit surprised by the sudden impacts from two sides, the white-haired teen’s chakra control wavered; causing his Storm Mail to momentarily flicker. The ‘chakra armor’ was more of an ‘aura’ based jutsu, so it wasn’t capable of defending against actual physical damage.

Most of the smoke in the area cleared up after Doi was hit, thus revealing the two remaining clones and the real Hon. Regaining his barings, Doi sharply swung his water whip and struck both doppelgängers. Afterwards, the white-haired teen pointed his left index finger towards the real Hon and raised his thumb; creating a ‘handgun’ like gesture. From his index finger he let forth four element based attacks in rapid succession as he began to stride to the left; three shots of fast water bullets and a single linear bolt of lightning.

All of this was done while still holding his water whip in his right hand.

Alright! 2/3 of the clones landed their target, but obviously, Doi was adept with his water whip and managed to strike the third one. He should’ve added his favored element into the clones too, but that would’ve costed more chakra, and he had to be delicate with his chakra outage. But as long as he was that, Doi seemed to have the upper hand; crap, he had to up his game now.

Dashing out from the dying smoke, a trail of said smoke followed Hon’s movement as he targeted Doi with his Byakugan. The two clones were targeted again, but one of them let the other escape through a ‘horseshoe’ where one pushed the other up in the air from their foothold. Meanwhile, the original Hon was targeted by four bullets; three water bullets and a ray of lightning. With his Hakumei Byakugan, his spatial awareness was sharp, so he felt little difficulty in dodging the slower water bullets with fancy backflips. The lightning one, however, was an annoyance as it struck him almost instantly.

He just barely managed to avoid getting hit on the head and used his arms to shield. Currents travelled through his body in small bursts and left a soring pain on his skin. It felt… no, it reminded him of Senpai’s fires. "... It's been over a month since I felt this pain...With that in mind, he managed to recover from the pain and even send a cocky grin to Doi.

From above, a wire was suddenly sent down to the earth next to Doi. That was the other Hon who used the hooked wire to accelerate further down and pull himself closer to Doi from above; although it was likely that the clone would just crack the floor beneath their feet with its Jyuuken if it missed. The original stood on his guard and didn’t even have to look up at the other clone; he saw it clearly…

Doi spotted a single weighted wire land to his side. The audible sound of its metal hook hitting the platform floor drew his attention. Looking up towards the sky, the white-haired teen noticed he had a split second before he'd be receiving a Jyuuken strike to the head. The boy had no plans to let the strike hit him, though. Doi promptly kicked off of the platform floor to propel himself towards the right and away from harm. Hon's clone struck the floor with intense force; kicking up debris as the floor cracked under the weight of the strike. A quick jerk of Doi’s right hand sharply swung the water whip out towards the defenseless clone, striking right at the neck and immediately dispelling it. A nasty critical hit.

Doi relinquished control of his water whip afterwards and allowed it to dispel. The now purposeless water fell to the floor and made a slight splash. With both hands now freed, the teen sped through the hand seals for his next jutsu at a blinding pace.

Before long, the teen suddenly began to spew a massive amount of water from his mouth and used it to generate a large wave heading in the real Hon's direction. Whether the wave hit its mark or not didn't matter, his true intention was to flood the area with water.

The only thing Doi didn't count on was his Storm Mail disappearing after he did so. He’d forgotten the technique put a small strain on his body and did tend to go out if he wasn’t focused.

Darn i! The clone missed too, which just complimented that electric mail of his. And now, the last clone was taken out as well, leaving the real Hon alone against Doi. Either way, it was probably best this way; head on against the foe with yourself and your own hands, just as Hon preferred it. A lot of water erupted from the white-haired shinobi’s mouth which charged towards Hon in a huge wave. Did he use this much chakra to cover a larger area - perhaps as a counter against the Hyuuga’s speed?

He could go defensively and propel the wave, but Hon also really wanted to land a hit on Doi. That meant that he needed to get close to him in a hurry, and that was what he planned to do as the Hyuuga brat leaped off the ground, barely avoiding the wave coming from Doi’s mouth. Doing a quick front flip to push himself forward, he then performed some quick hand signs himself and seemed to appear floating right above the water that now covered the floor. "Try this speed on for size...!"

His Magnetic Release Jutsu would come in handy now as he appeared right in front of Doi with a greater speed than before. Out of familiarity, the Hyuuga would try and appear in front of Doi for a brief moment, then appear behind him with blinding speed readying a Gentle Step Twin Lion Fist right towards his face.

Doi spotted Honnou narrowly avoiding his massive wave of water. Emerald green eyes closely following the Hyuuga boy's movements. Despite the jutsu not hitting its mark, Doi did succeed in soaking the majority of the platform in front of him with water. He could use this to his advantage in a bit. Momentarily losing track of Hon, Doi was incredibly surprised when the boy abruptly appeared before him and disappeared instantly. This must've been a feint. The teen boy correctly assumed his opponent would appear behind him and made to turn quickly. His opponent took advantage of the window of vulnerability he displayed while turning and delivered a quick Jyuuken strike to the face.

Taken aback by the hit, Doi used the strikes momentum to launch himself backwards and away from Hon. The white-haired teen was fortunate to have had Shinobi level endurance, he'd probably just bruise at the point of impact. A civilian would've easily been done in by a strike like that. Doi regained control of his body and flipped midair before landing in on of the many puddles his jutsu had created on the platform. 'Focus,' Doi said to himself; rapidly shaking his head in the hopes of regaining alertness.

He quickly sped through another set of hand seals before kneeling and slapping both of his palms against the platform floor. "Water Release: Feeding Frenzy!" Five sharks made of water grew out from puddles around Doi and launched themselves towards Hon at high speeds. They would splash against the floor if they missed their mark.

Yes! A full hit on Doi evened the score - now, the close-combat fight had started! Hon planned to follow up with an Eight Triagrams Tenketsu Strike combo immediately after his attack landed by jumping towards Doi’s trajectory as he was in the air from the impact. It wasn’t that bruising, the last attack of Hon’s; the true power of Jyuuken was hidden away from unwary eyes. If a sufficient amount of hits would land, Doi would undoubtedly notice sooner or later.

Shit, Doi could still use the water floating on the arena! Hon thought that he could catch up to him midair in time; apparently, his momentum was insufficient, and Doi grabbed his foothold in good time. Whilst Hon was still in the air, five water sharks emerged from the surface and charged towards him. He hurried and launched a hooked wire to the ground, then pulled himself heavily down to the floor before one of the sharks could hit him midair.

From here, his 360 degree vision came in handy; he slipped beneath another shark’s trajectory, then flipped over another one, dashed to the left and spun to repel another shark away with one rotation, then used the chakra engulfing his arms to lung over the last shark. His eyes were locked onto Doi all the time, seemingly using his position as hotspot for the movements of said sharks.

He would land and hold up his parries, sharp eyes darting towards the opponent. Bruises were seen on Hon’s thighs as results of sliding over the last shark, and his pants were having small lines of ripped cloth here and there. Wow… I can’t change the pace in long-range combat. I have to get closer…

The Byakugan was one of the many phenomena of the shinobi world. One had to acknowledge that genetics was an undoubtedly awe inspiring subject. Eyes capable of perceiving things that were normally invisible to the naked eye, such as chakra and high speed movements. Doi was well aware these abilities gave Hon the upperhand in close-range combat. Fortunately, the white-haired juvenile was astute enough to plan accordingly. Water now soaked the entirety he platform floor, and in heavy abundance. All that was missing was that one little spark.

Electricity began to cover Doi’s right hand as the boy crouched and slapped said hand against the wet floor once again. The His plan was to use the wet surface as a conductor and immobilize his opponent - therefore making him vulnerable to further attacks. Hon would be in for the quite the shock as long as his feet remained on the ground. Doi’s electricity tolerance was what made this move viable - or else he’d also find himself getting shocked.

Though it would be absurd to assume his opponent wouldn’t adapt quickly and come up with a way around it.

His Byakugan was a huge gift in combat. However, it may also have been his greatest passive weakness; in close-combat, he reigned, but that was too obvious even against the most numb-minded opponents, and especially against a seasoned Genin like Doi. It just felt like… that boy had caught the pattern and was most likely up to a counterattack against Hon’s close-combat sovereign.

That was when Hon realized that water was still covering the floor beneath his very feet. It was just after he spotted electric currents jump around Doi’s fingertips, and a huge alarm rang inside his head. He had to get off the surface in time, but as he leaped, the momentum and impulse swung drops of water up along with the foot that he took off with. Purple, electric currents travelled across the wet surface, then leapt between the drops and reached Hon’s leg, sending a massive jolt through his body.

Landing on his other foot, he had to crouch quickly in response to the pain. He was left open due to the surprise attack, and purple jolts kept emerging out from his skin. It was hard to think properly in that short moment, but he knew deeply that Doi would come after him now…

Doi quickly got into action upon seeing his opponent's immobile state. It was time to deliver a decisive blow. Doi's hands rapidly flew through a lengthy set of hand seals; holding on the last seal upon its completion. From the soaked floor arose a large aquatic dragon; its 'eyes' glowing ominously. It was an awe inspiring creation.

water-dragon.jpg

This gargantuan dragon hurled itself in Hon's direction with ferocious speed. Doi's lips slowly curved into a slight smirk as he followed his creation's path of destruction. If everything went according to plan, his opponent would be hit by the flying serpent head on. This strike had the potential to be the knock out blow Doi needed to claim victory.

How would Hon react to this? Would the dragon hit its mark? Time was ticking.

Ah, shit. That Water Dragon looked devastating. Was Doi about to finish the battle, already? Or… nah, Hon could still put up a fight. As a matter of fact, this was perfect; such a huge Water-Style Jutsu should be able to impact pretty harshly on whatever it lands on. Quickly getting up on his feet, Hon appeared not to make any move for a dodge or evasion. Actually, he took a Jyuuken Stance in front of the upcoming monster…

It looked as if the Water Dragon might’ve braked on its track, but at the very nose of it, a rotating sphere was visible. It functioned as a sort of shield as Hon could stop the Jutsu midair. This kaiten proved not only to be among the most efficient types of defense, but it also readied the Jutsu to be deflected as Hon quickly used the spinning speed to swing a jab at the Water Dragon’s nose, sending it right back where Doi was.

"Bedrock Coffin!” yelled Doi as he crouched and slapped his palms against the floor. A large slab of stone rose from the floor in front of him at a backwards slanting angle. Simultaneously shielding Doi and redirecting the brunt of the water from the Water Dragon Bullet off to the side. The white-haired adolescent was well aware that his Dragon Bullet would’ve easily destroyed the slab of stone had it been set straight upwards. Hon being able to send such a destructive jutsu flying back at him with a single technique was nothing short of impressive.

Doi swiftly escaped from under the slab of stone he'd brought up as it began to crumble; sending debris all over and creating a small cloud of dust. It created a hazard on the field; though, it may just work in his favor considering Hon was a speed time that depended on movement.

With plenty of energy left within him, Doi raised his right hand in the air and summoned an impressive amount of minuscule needles made of lightning chakra. With a flick of his wrist, the teen sent his Chidori Senbon racing towards Hon’s position. Anticipating Hon dodging the needles, Doi followed up with a Fissure Slash; sending a large arc of storm natured chakra after his opponent as well.

Doi was fast on his reflexes. The Water Dragon Bullet was sent upwards, somehow - he revealed the use of a stone wall being the reason why. This only concluded one thing; get close to him. Hon would have to hurry, so without hesitation, he moved in a straight line towards Doi. Maneuvering around would only kill time and resolve in the same conclusion.

The stone wall crushed down, dust rising from the surface in a moment. Hon’s Byakugan could still see Doi inside the smoke, though, watching him rise a hand up in the air and releasing dozens, maybe hundreds of Lightning Style Needles. Coming from the front, Hon could dodge them at a moment’s notice - his body flickered around, just barely evading the impact of a Lightning Needle. It was likely a transformation of Doi’s Chidori Control - they both mastered that Jutsu back in the Academy, and Hon had used it against his upperclassman back at the Sileo.

A new jutsu came rushing towards Hon in form of a crescent-formed slash combining Lightning and Water Chakras. It was big and powerful, but it lacked the accuracy of previous Chidori Needles. Despite that, Hon was up close and took the Jutsu face-on.

A huge shockwave emerged from his position. He desperately tried to deflect some of the damage via the Eight Triagrams Palm Rotation, but in front of Doi was a triggered Hon exposing his torso. His blue garments had been torn off his upper body by the attack, but he barely noticed that. He was in the middle of a fight and quickly used the opportunity to release a Gentle Step Twin Lion Fist towards Doi. His body was taking more damage as it acted during the surge of pain from the last attack, but Hon was set on not losing due to long-range bullshit. Nah, his fighting spirit was a lot like Hoshi’s, in the end…

Doi made to roll out of the way as Hon's Twin Lion Fist approached. Unfortunately for him, he had overestimated the state his body was in. It didn't seem like he was capable of moving away fast enough at that moment. Doi began to regret using his Storm Mail so early in the spar a split second before Hon's attack struck. The impact lifted Doi off of his feet and sent him flying backwards towards the edge of the platform. He hit the floor with a slight 'oof' before regaining his composure and getting up into a crouched position. Doi couldn't allow his opponent enough time to close the space between them. That blow was no joke, and Hon was just too fast to not keep an eye on.

The jacket Doi was wearing was beginning to hinder his hand seal speed too. He wanted to take the article off but didn't want to leave any unnecessary openings in his defense. He'd just have to learn to bear with it for now.

Emerald green eyes stared down Hon in anticipation for his next move; discretely performing a new set of hand seals with a single hand. Doi was prepared to counter whatever Hon threw at him at a moments notice.

Hon eyed Doi who was lunged further away than he imagined. There was a spicy scent in the air, one that prompted him to go on and seal the win. Seal the battle’s fate… it all resonated inside his head as the pain and pressure overshadowed his sense of reason for a short amount of time. This was so just like back with Suika, all over again…

… And that reminded him…

He quickly rose a hand up and proclaimed: “Let’s take a break!” He was feeling the lack of his early breakfast inside his stomach, so he wanted to refresh himself. Besides, he sure felt that Doi hadn’t eaten much today either…

With his hands, he signed that his stomach was empty and that he could really go for a spring roll or a bowl of steak.

Also, once he took a closer look at it, one of the wires on his wrist bracers had broken off. It was rather annoying to realize, because these took ages to repair due to how complicated that Hon had to do the entire structure. Bends, edges, arcs and spring locks, maybe he did it too difficult for even himself to fathom anymore.

Then again, as a child, he was much more energetic up in his brain… in the sense that he didn’t tire himself out on nonsense that just so happened to help him build this weapon.

He dashed regularly towards Doi’s position with a joyous laugh following. It really didn’t bug him that his clothes were ripped straight out of a shonen manga.
