Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

She had been warned...

And ironically, both warnings came in nearly the same breath. This man… Sasaki Kotsuko. The file on him that Kitsune left her didn’t say anything in particular about what had occurred to cause the note at the bottom of it. Just that if he were to mess up again, he was out of the Medical Branch. For good.

Her mother didn’t make those kinds of threats lightly. Kumogakure needed all the doctors they could get their hands on.

The Medical Sennin then looked to the ‘mission brief’ sitting on her desk. She used the term loosely because someone pulled some serious strings to make sure it didn’t end up in front of an official of cloud. It made her even less comfortable that it conveniently ended up in her mail pile that morning.

“Sasaki Kotsuko, Tsukino Akane, please report to my office immediately.” Kahako said through her earpiece as she went over the paperwork again. A small frown dotted her face.

The truth was, Kotsuko was currently the most qualified to check the situation out. She would have sent him out alone on this, but that damned note in his file followed with no explanation as to what even happened made her paranoid.

When the two did arrive, Kahako finally set down her paperwork. “Thank you both for coming.” She said simply when the MiTs settled down. “I’m calling you in today, not only to give you an assignment, but to also speak with you.

“It has been mentioned that you both have shown a good deal of promising work in the past few years of studying within the medical branch. Work towards the branch that has not gone unnoticed, and you are reaching the ending stages of your training.”
A small smile graced Kahako’s lips as she looked at the two. “Within the next few weeks, you will be evaluated on your medical prowess, and in which I will decide whether or not you are ready to join the ranks of Mednin. Once appointed, you will be able to clarify which division of the Medical Branch you wish to join. Know that you can be a part of any two divisions you so choose should you pass.”

Kahako leaned back, her smile now turning into a slight frown. “Which leads me to my assignment for you. I have received a desperate plea from a noble family in the heartlands. The head of the family and his wife are currently suffering from an unknown illness that is--from what can be determined by this report--slowly killing them. It has spread to a couple of people in their employment as well, and is moving quickly.”

Kahako’s eyes darkened as she laced her fingers “What worries me, is that this request went through great pains to not become a Cloud approved mission, despite the situation clearly showing that it could. Additionally, if this were any normal bout of illness, then a medic in my family’s nearby province would have sufficed. They specifically requested a Medical Shinobi, through improper channels, and I have no idea as to why.”

When her fingers unlaced, Kahako tapped the glass top on her desk, slightly irked by the situation this put her in. “But as doctors, we have an oath to help all in need, and the two of you are the most specialized to check out what is going on. I would like to send you both on this, in case it is a trap. I cannot pay you for this, since it is not approved, but I can offer you something else worth your interest.

“Instead, I can put your actions towards learning what happened there as your final evaluation. Since this hasn’t been officially requested to be handled by Cloud, you both have the opportunity to turn this down. In which, a regularly administered Medical Exam will be set up in three weeks time here in the hospital, and I will evaluate your position from that.”

Kahako waited for the two MiT to respond to this strange request. If only one accepted, he or she would be given leave to get ready…

However, if both accepted, Kahako would nod once more. “Thank you both,” she said as she leaned back. “Sasaki-san, you are dismissed to make your preparation for the journey. I must speak with my cousin here on some other family-related matters before she leaves.” She said with a small, kind smile to the girl.

Akane was doing her duties, like normal. It'd been awhile since she got into the zone again, it was nice working, it kept her distracted from the events that had kept her from working. She enjoyed treating people very much, and she hoped to gain more skill so she could do more. She had been trying to distract herself as much as possible, she wasn't dealing with the grief very well on her own, but she was trying to get over it quickly. Easier said than done though.

As akane was walking down the hall, she got radio message from Kahako, asking her, and another to come to the office. She couln't help but wonder what it was for. Seeing as she called another in as well, gave her hope that it wasn't going to be a scolding. Maybe it was more duties. Either was, akane was on her way to Kahako's office.

Once akane arrived, she opened the door to the office, and walked in. She walked straight to a chair, and sat down. "Good morning Kahako-sama." She hummed after siting down. She put on a smile for her. Once Sasaki entered, akane would look at him, then back to kahako as she started speaking.

Akane listened closely, so far, liking what was being said. Ending stages of their training, and the next few weeks they'll be evaluated. Akane knew she wanted to go into the surgery division. She wanted branch out from there though, she wanted to do all types of surgery, hopefully she'd be given the chance to do so. Akane felt a sort of anxiety towards this though, she was kinda afraid she'd mess up, but she didnt allow her anxiety to show. Akane looked more excited than anything else. She continued listening to Kahako as she moved on to the assignment at hand.

An unknown illness thats spreading quickly. Sounded like fun, she could tell that she would enjoy this. - No that was sarcasm.- It only seem to get better as Kahako explained even further. This may be a trap, which made akane even more interested in doing it. Akane grew a grin across her lips as she listened. She didnt really care about the pay, this was better than cleaning bedpans any day.

After Kahako said that they could turn this opportunity down, akane stood, with a giant grin on her face. "You can count me in to do this." She exclamated with assurance. She was determined to get this done. She glanced at Sasaki, kahako said that they were the most suitable for this job, so she was excited to be working alongside another who had skills. Though she didnt know him, she hoped he'd make a good teammate for this job. She was sure that they'd get this done, thought akane would be shocked if he turned this down.

Akane nodded to Kahako as she thanked them, she was getting ready to leave when Kahako dismissed Sasaki, when Kahako stated that She needed to speak to her about family matters. Akane's expression grew to a curious one as she looked at Kahako. She had an idea of what it could be if it was family maters, but she wasn't completely sure. Akane sat back down, and looked at Kahako, interested in what they needed to speak about.

The radio sparked to life with the jumbled sounds of a communication signal, filling the dark research lab with echoes and reverberated sounds. Kotsuko looked up from his experimentations, seeing the flashing light of the headset indicating that he was getting a message and hearing the crackling of a voice over the tiny speaker. Setting down what he was doing with meticulous care, the young man brought the headset up to his ears and positioned it properly on his head. When it had been properly situated, he would click the side of the headset to start communicating. "Go again, didn't catch that." As the speaker came to life once again, filling the young man's ears with a most fortuitous message, a smile began to grow on Ko's lips. After a few moments of listening, Ko clicked the side of the headset once more. "Understood. I'll be there immediately." With the message properly received, Ko took the headset off and deposited it back onto the table. He wouldn't need it right now. Smirking, the young man got out of his seat in excitement. He was heading for the Sennin's office.

These past few weeks, Ko had been rather frustrated with the recent events in the Aesculapium. Due to the ANBU Sennin's assassination, all of the administrative tasks had been put on hold while the village mounted a full scale investigation. Because of this, medical exams and the like had been put on hold due to an inability to host them. Ko had been waiting weeks to get an exam in, and just as he knew they were about to hold one this whole debacle had to happen. It was just downright annoying. However, Ko had just been informed that the Medical Sennin, Shinrya Kahako, had called upon him and another Medic in Training to her office. He hadn't done anything wrong—he'd been sure to keep his activities very well covered up while working here—so he could only assume it would be because of something else. Something of an administrative manner. Trying to contain his grinning, the young man walked through the halls until he reached the Sennin's office. Taking a second to compose himself, fully, Ko would then walk through the doors and see that he was the second to have arrived. In some regards, that annoyed him. All in all, though, he didn't particularly care that much. Falling into line, the young man gave his fellow Medic in Training a curt nod, then turned to face his commanding officer. "Ma'am." That was all he would say, instead resigning himself to listen to what Kahako would say to them. Would it be a medical mission? Would they be getting an exam? No, it seemed things were going to be even better than that.

As the Sennin spoke, it became apparent that they had been called here today for their right of passage into the Medical Corps. However, this wasn't to be a normal exam. Due to the circumstances, a normal examination would be out of the question; instead, the Sennin would be sending Ko and this Akane to deal with a rather peculiar request. A noble family, suffering from an unknown illness, that had requested assistance from Kumogakure Medical Shinobi but not as an officially sanctioned mission? This was most peculiar, and highly curious. It was the perfect kind of assignment for the young man. Like he cared about the money? He was making plenty with his shinobi's salary and his reimbursement for his overtime work at the hospital. To the young man, this was about scratching an itch that had just been made apparent. It was an insatiable lust for knowledge and a desire for a worthy challenge that drove him. Ko was doing his best to hide his smile of excitement from his superior and peer, steadying his voice so as not to seem overly eager. "I accept as well. This should be a fine challenge." After the Sennin thanked them both, however, she asked Ko if he might leave the two of them alone. Cocking his head to the side, as if not quite understanding her request, the young man soon gave her a smile and a nod of the head. "Of course, ma'am. I'll leave you two alone."

As he turned to leave, the young man looked at Kahako through the corner of his eye. He wondered, did she know about him? Kitsune had been demoted right after she let him into the Medical Corps, which had turned out to be rather fortuitous for Ko. However, if Kahako—Kitsune's daughter—knew about the circumstances of his inductions into the Medical Corps, things might be a little bit more complicated. Was this Akane woman only here to keep watch after Ko? She and Kahako were family, after all, and both of them were related to Kitsune. It wouldn't be such an outrageous request. Ko would do his best to keep his wits about him, airing on the side of caution around these two. The Shinrya Clan...they may be a danger to his very being in the end...

Kahako held her smile until Kotsuko’s footfalls faded into the distance. When she was certain he was long gone, she sighed before leaning back into her chair. “I apologize that I must do this to you, Akane-chan,” Kahako said as she looked back to her cousin. “But there is more to this situation that you should be fully aware of.”

Without violating his privacy, Kahako explained the real reason why she chose Akane for this mission. “While I do believe you two may be walking into a trap, Kotsuko is not all that he may seem. I do not fear that he would fail this task should he go alone, but I wonder about his methods to accomplishing it, and fear for the possible outcome should the situation go south for him.”

The Sennin leaned back in her chair and continued, “Don’t get me wrong, I don’t believe he will stab you in the back while the both of you are out, but I wonder if he sees those who he heals as patients or subjects. And the answer to that will determine how well he will do in this field.” With that Kahako gave Akane one last smile. “Do me a favor, and keep an eye on him and his decisions? You two are working together on this, and one is not above the other. If you don't have any questions for me, you are dismissed.”

With that, Kahako would allow Akane to ask any questions she felt necessary. After that, the MiT would be free to leave.
[spoilername="OOC"]You can leave! Next post will be up within the next few days (I have to do some image searching)[/spoilername]

Akane watched Kotsuko leave. It wasn't until after he left that Kahako informed her of the situation. She listened closely, it seemed that Kotsuko has a stain upon his record, or least acts strange? Why else would Kohako mention this? Akane was glad she was trusted enough to keep an eye on him. Her words though... Akane wanted to see if he saw them as patients or subjects. It was... kinda disturbing. If this was true, he probably suspects akane's presents as a watcher, or whatever. She'll have to stick close by him.

Akane stood, and noded to Kohako. "You can leave it to me. I'll make sure these people are cured in a safe manor. I'll stick close to Kotsuki as well." Akane explained, giving her word. She wasn't worried about being stabbed in the back as much as their patients being experimented on. She knew that sometimes its necessary, but there are safe ways to do it. She just wanted to get this done with, hopefully Kotsuki did too. Akane soon left kohako's office to go get ready. She needed to pack all her medical stuff, and make sure her weapons were ready.
