The sunlight shimmered graciously through the clouds above as a lone shinobi made her way along a well beaten path cut through a very open field. The sun shafts graced her face ever so gently as she slowly raised her view towards the heavens above to bask in the glory of the day. Today was the day she had been planning and looking forward to for so long a day in which she would spend with her younger and most dearest of brothers. She couldn’t remember the last time the two of them were allowed time to just be siblings together and in hopes of this day she had packed a small lunch consisting of freshly made sandwiches and two small bags of chips. Stopping in the middle of the beaten path she released a soft sigh of hope that today would be the day she could accomplish what she had failed to do so many times before, establish an everlasting bond with her sibling. Slowly she tightened her grip upon her basket of goodies and began to almost run down the path in excitement she couldn’t wait another minute just thinking about the day no she must seize the day within her grasp and make use of every moment it held within. That was her plan at least little did she know such hopes would usually lead to sadness as they are thrown against the harsh wall of reality and shattered.
A couple minutes flew by as she approached a slender oaken wonder; its history one for the ages for it was here that the young girl had met her first friend and kohai a young boy by the name of Hoshi. As well as a strange young woman who she still searched for till this day in order to scold her about her actions. After all who in their right minds would snatch another person’s property and discard it so haphazardly. It was then that she returned her attention to the beautiful work of art before her a shining example of an ancient being that could last the ages, countless years mere footsteps in the lifespan that was this benevolent beauty. This oaken creature casts upon her a sense of awe and inspiration as she watched the sun beams flicker through its golden hued leaves in a way that could lock one in a state of pure bliss as you bask in its shadow.
“The stories you could tell if you could only talk.” The sounds of her words drifted freely from her naïve lips as she reached out with one hand slowly to touch upon the grand old oak tree that stood before her. Upon her skin she felt the brittle back that protected the very core of this living relic. With bated breath she closed her eyes to try and observe the life energy that flowed through all living things and this being of creation was no different. Rubbing gently against the bark of the beauty following the cracks and curves that flowed along its body like tiny rivers all leading to one central point of origin, she smiled for this was in fact the best place in which she could conduct her picnic with her estranged sibling. With a soft flick of her white locks she turned and faced down the beaten path a smile from ear to ear upon her face, with eyes softly glazed over as she enjoyed every second of these moments.
“I know you are nearby, it never surprises me to see your shadow cast upon the wall when I believe to be completely alone. You’re my secret protector a being I know will always step in if I am truly in trouble. Because even though we may not speak we are bound together by bond stronger than any other, blood. Within our veins runs the blood of our parents and within that blood runs their hopes and dreams for us. For you’re the continuation of our family line, and me a life of happiness and freedom to roam the world.” The female’s voice ran low and silent almost as she looked towards the grand building that during the early morning hours casts its magnificent shadow upon the tree upon which she rested. Her eyes now closed to the world once more as she listened to the wind speak its riddles, and reveal its truths. For she knew her eyes were her greatest strength but alas they would also lead her to her end if she grew to reliant on them to guide her way.
“Come my brother let us make haste and enjoy our lives to their fullest on this glorious day in which you are free of all responsibilities. I wish for you to drink for my glass and taste the fruit of thy freedom even if only for a fleeting moment.” She whispered once more her eyes still shut and her body stiff as a board against the creature of wonder. The freshness of the air in which she breathed seemed to place the young woman in a trance from which all words could flow free from her lips without fear of retribution or ridicule. Of course today also marked her freedom as well freedom from her daily doses, freedom from her habitual task, today she would not partake in her medication so as to be able to meet her brother as who she truly was and not as someone else. She was never to be whole for as long as she leaned upon the crutch of her medication, she needed to conquer her own life with her own hands to ever truly be herself. A task not so simple but one that she dreamed to one day achieve just as this lone oak tree has achieved and prevailed where many others had failed to stand tall and firm within this sea of green yards away from the tree line that act as a coast line to the sea of green.
