Supposedly, they’d possessed knowledge. And not just the common available for all to grasp; that easily accessible through library rows or Academy textbooks. More worthwhile than that imparted through lips of grandparents. Knowledge far older, dark even for them. Unlearned by common folk, whether by lack of wit or absence of source. Most significant for Goki, however, had been sole hope for a knowledge in particular—that concerning Ancients.
Now, the issue no longer proved lack of clarity concerning desire; rather, how to actually obtain it. Existence of the Oracles were no mystery to those in Sunagakure—details of admission, however, were another story.
Those mysterious figures in robes, noses perpetually buried in ancient tomes, old and dusty as the very worn, discolored pages studied. Jotting notes, quietly reciting passages... Thinking about it—did she really want to become that? The Hybrid hadn’t felt so keen towards the idea of becoming old any more than remaining dusty no matter how regularly showered. Nor of inheriting the smell elderly typically exuded. None of this sounded any enticing...
Oblivious as any unrecruited, Genin, and child at that, Goki would perform just the slightly less sensible thing most of her status might—When in doubt, ask reception. Today, Ms. Spectacles appeared actually seated at the desk; albeit, no less busy. Today’s dish on the menu appeared to be a mass of stacked papers—It hadn’t looked tasty. Mandarin red locks appeared across.

“Good afternoon, Librarian-san. Your previous assistance was most helpful. Goki understands the strange books.”
From a document lifted solemn eyes, a single index traveling to push up their glasses, as if ascertaining whether the sight afront had indeed been authentic.
“It’s called Runic Terran,” arrived delayed impart after a rummage through memory. “But good to know.” Dry in tone, whether the words had been perfunctory or truly sincere proved a difficult discernment through ear alone. The Hybrid detected an accumulated, mental exhaustion.
“Today, Goki has another request.”
“What’s it this time?” This afternoon’s mood definitely felt bleaker than last.
“The old men in robes,” Her own index extended, gesturing to the indicated. “She wishes to join them. “They’re always reading. Goki should read too.”
“The old men in . . ?” Regard followed direction of the girl’s finger, lingering. Eventually, something of inquisition and surprise emerged upon the woman’s features. ”You mean... the Oracles?”
