Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

This was a very personal problem for Sato. He'd been developing so well as a ninja -- at least in his opinion -- but it seemed like some new hurtle was coming up every time he started to get somewhere. He was developing his technique and strength quite well but he'd come into a new problem with his jutsu. He'd somehow managed to start manifesting his lightning jutsu incorrectly and it was taking quite a toll on his chakra every time it happened. It had to be rebounding or something. Nothing he'd read explained what was wrong and quite frankly he was a bit too nervous to ask a teacher for help. He'd begun doing so well lately and he didn't want anyone who he'd learned under to be disappointed with this.

This meant he'd had to ask around. At first he didn't get more than a few funny looks but eventually he managed to get a genin to hear him out for a moment. Thankfully she seemed willing to help if not in that exact moment, seeming quite busy with other things. He did manage to get a name and place though: Santaru Soku and the Forest of Death. The location was... less than comforting but it seemed it's history had more to do with it's name than what it was these days. Now it was mostly a training ground. It didn't mean he wasn't nervous to go in but at least he was getting help.

He waited not too deep into the forest, sitting on a fallen tree and kicking his legs in the air, waiting for the nice girl to show up and pondering what had gone so wrong. She acted very well informed so he was sure she could help. It'd probably be something silly he was doing without realizing. Still it was disappointing he had to come out for help like this at all. As far as he knew most students didn't need to do this kind of thing.

The female ANBU trod through the forest looking to rendezvous with the Academy student whim had requested her assistance. Her garb consisted of a standard village shinobi uniform that blended well with the forest as she continued her path tracking the crushed twigs and disturbed soil that gave her clear indication to where Sato had gone. Her dull brown hair was down falling down in locks to her shoulders as her emerald green eyes scanned the forestry scanning for any sign of the young student. Sure enough, she didn't have to go too far in spotting a male sitting on a log swinging his legs to and fro. Soku approached casually her feet literally making faint sounds as she trod her way over until the kunochi was a mere few feet away from him looking down at the boy.

"Well, you found the place alright. This will be suitable for our lesson today."The Santaru said taking in the surroundings. The girl had some insight into what Sato was struggling with but just to get a overall sense of what she was dealing with here, the girl decided to jog her memory."So first things first before we even start. Explain to me what issues you are having and I'll see him we can work around it."The older kunoichi commented, her tone light but crisp adding a hint of seriousness to her voice. It was quite rare that a genin would be giving practical hands on instruction in ninjutsu at their current level but she was no stranger to the Lightning style and when agreeing to help the boy knew this would not be a one day thing but with enough practice and tutelage, he could overcome this obstacle.

"This is not something that can be achieved in a single day however. Whatever you are taught here, you must keep at it and don't let your obstacles hinder you. Motivation and dedication are key." The Santaru said tying up her hair in a bun clipping it with a dull black hair pin as she prepared for the lesson at hand."Now we're ready. I want you to perform a Lightning Style technique
so I can visualize what exactly you are having trouble with."
When he had requested her help, she had gotten a vague idea of what he was going through but without proper knowledge, she could not help him and what better way then to observe the student. Observation was key to any lesson, Soku had learned drumming her fingers against a tree bark looking expectantly at Sato.

He'd been so lost in thought that it was a genuine surprise when Soku came out of the brush to greet him. Well, at least he hadn't been waiting long. He had to admit it was still a bit of a weird choice to have gone and asked her of all people for help. It wasn't as if he didn't think she was skilled or anything but their only interaction before all of this had been the medical lesson they'd shared together. Given the contrast to that monster Maru who'd been with them she seemed like a very nice person. It'd been on a whim when he recognized her and asked for help and it still felt like dumb luck to have had her say yes.

Sato stumbled off the log, almost tripping as he waved his arms for balance. Immediately his face burnt pink as he adjusted his half slipped on glasses and stood tall, hoping she didn't think him unsightly for tripping up like that. She was here to help him with a ninja skill, showing he didn't even have good coordination would not inspire faith. Crap, he was usually much better about this stuff! He brushed off his high collared black shirt and pale shorts before setting those bright green eyes right on her to listen to everything she had to say.

"It wasn't like you picked a hard place to reach. I admit I was pretty nervous when you named it though..." He quickly shook his head and shrugged off that unimportant detail as they got down to the nitty gritty. The problem. Normally this much isolation just for the sake of a problem like this would probably be overkill save for protecting his poor pride but there was another reason he didn't want to it at a place like the academy. He was becoming seriously concerned that this mistake he was making could someone else. Of course he hadn't mentioned it back then but now was a good a time as any.

"Well. I'm doing all my hand seals right and the jutsu is coming out correctly. But..." His eyes cast away from her, showing clear signs of nervousness as he brought up his own shortcomings. "It gets really unstable if I try to hold it for too long. It's really hard to describe. My lightning doesn't even look like lightning, it just sort turns to... energy goop or something. It gets way too thick and bright. And..." He hesitantly raised one of his hands. One could almost mistake the bandages wrapped around it for training padding. "It gets out of control and starts hurting me. A-And whatever it is it's draining my chakra like crazy. I've actually been able to do less jutsu every day since it started..."

He hung on to every word of motivation she had to offer, clenching his hands and nodding intently as she helped get him pumped up. She was right! Nothing came easy but that doesn't mean it isn't worth working towards! Of course now came the tricky part. Actually recreating the problem. He gulped before he started to weave hand seals, taking his time to make sure he didn't stumble over his own fingers as he gathered his chakra.

"Lightning Style: Storm Bolt Jutsu!"

The moment he invoked it the mild voltage of the beginner's jutsu came to life in his hands, arcing between his fingertips as he readied it. He knew he could hold onto it for a little while. The technique is meant to be launched but with such low voltage it didn't create any major risk to the user to hold it in -- or at least it wasn't suppose to.

It took almost half a minute for anything noticeable to happen. The straight look on his face gave away to hints of concern as the light blue color in his palm flashed a bit brighter for a moment. Then it happened again. And again. Just as he'd described the thin arcs of electricity were starting to grow and pulse, their movements a bit more sluggish as they jumped between his fingers. In mere moments the jutsu was hardly recognizable as little arcs of the energy pulsed around his fingers. He suddenly gasped out and the jutsu dropped all at once as he brought his hand to his face and began to suck desperately on the spot where the energy had tapped him and left a bit of a burn.

She watched intently as Sato performed his jutsu a frown appearing instantly. She could already sense something was wrong but what it was could not be made clear. He could not maintain it for very long either which was a case for concern. A simple jutsu like that could be easily maintained by most shinobi even children so what was the case going on here?"I see now. This has something to do with how your chakra manifests the jutsu. It is quite...odd. A idea was ticking in the back of her head but to try it out p, Soku had to first test out a theory.

"Alright, I'm going to perform a jutsu and I want you to attempt to do it. Alright, here we go."Her hands moved slowly so Sato could see the hand signs and Lightning began to ripple around her palms."Storm Style: Fissure Slash!"There was a quick cracking sound as the lightning raced out at the nearest tree slicing it cleanly and it toppled unable to sustain the force. She turned to face Sato."Try it. I think I know your issue but I have to see you demonstrate first. Soku said giving him a reassuring smile to put the boy at ease
[OOC: short post, sorry!]

As he sucked on his poor shocked hand he heard Soku speak up, listening intently as she seemed to have at least some idea what was going on with him. That was more hope he'd had all week! Something was off about his chakra? But he'd been working so hard to control is... wait, what if that was the problem? He'd been pushing too hard and now it was messing with his chakra output? Nobody had warned him that could happen! She didn't seem too concerned, merely intensely concentrated as she came up with a suggestion.

"Perform... a jutsu?" he asked, adjusting his glasses as he tilted his head curiously to the side. How was another jutsu going to help when he was already messing them up? Was this suppose to... clear his chakra pathways or something? He went along with it though and watch -- only for his stomach to sink as she not only did she name an element he wasn't familiar with but it looked quite dangerous and hard to use. He watched, slightly shaken as a tree fell down from the jutsu only for her to assure him she knew what this might be with a smile. Everything else was intimidating but her assurance helped. He gulped and began to weave the seals as she had.

"Storm Style: Fissure Slash!"

He did the same motion as her and everything -- and looked quite shocked as the jutsu came out. It was imperfect and rough but still properly manifested, cutting through another tree not too far from the rest as he wildly fired it half on accident. He looked at the hand it'd just been held in for a moment, looking shocked that it'd actually worked before looking to Soku for answers.

She watched nodding to herself as the jutsu out rough and incomplete but not bad for a beginner. She patted the male on the back lightly to give him reassurance,"Not bad for a beginner. The fact you are able to handle the cost of performing the Storm Element leaves me with only one thought. You are naturally aligned with the Santaru clan ' s Bloodline like myself if you know what I mean and could quite possibly be the solution to your problem. My reasoning is you put forth too much chakra into your Lightning - based attacks so much so that the jutsu is accidentally formed into a Storm Style ninjutsu. Usually, this is a feat only accomplished by the Santaru Clan." Soku said tilting her head to look down at the boy, a most curious look on her face."Tell me, where does your family hail from?"

It was quite possible this boy was part of the Santaru clan, something she never would have imagined. Santarus mostly populated the Hidden Cloud Village so to run into a relative here was quite rare."I ask because usually only one who carries the Santaru Bloodline is able to perform the Storm Element to such a degree like yourself. Had anyone else tried it, their chakra level would have plummeted but it seems with you, your chakra actually reacted to it which makes me quite curious to your heritage."The girl said in a calm collected tone watching as the rough jutsu flew into another tree toppling it over as it slammed into the ground with a resounding thud.

"Here."The Santaru took his palms in hers and a colorless aura began to glow around them. The rough burn marks the jutsu had left was gone."I have just transferred some of my chakra to yours. You will find that if you attempt a Lightning or Storm Style attack, it will at a much higher degree of skill. If you so desire, I can teach you the methods that our clan uses to control our chakra to maintain such devastating ninjutsu since you seem to have a good grasp on the Storm Element for a beginner from what I can see."

Sato didn't react at first. Hell, he barely understood what he was hearing. The Santaru clan? He'd only heard of Soku-san herself with that name. Of course it did cause an uncomfortable tingle in the back of his mind the more she spoke. It actually made a certain sense and was something of a relief. So he wasn't messing up... if anything he was doing too well? Those weren't failures, that was a totally new element! Of course it did up the question of -- how? Neither of his parents had been ninjas so why did he have the same abilities as a well known clan? From another nation entirely? When she assured him that the only thing that made sense was him being Santaru he bowed his head, staring at the ground.

"My mother was born in the Land of Fire. Her whole family goes way back in the village I'm from. But my father... he never really told me where he was from. He said he'd been all around but he never mentioned his home." Was it possible that, even distantly, his father had been a part of this clan's bloodline? He'd never shown any sort of skill as a ninja but if this was just a genetic gift like Asuka...

He stood up straight, surprise written on his face as she took him by the hands and gave him some of her chakra. Immediately his hands felt better and she told him that she could help if he wanted to try and learn how to tame this new talent of his. Immediately his eyes lit up, looking up at the ANBU in training and seeming ready to start bouncing with excitement. "Can you really? I mean -- i-if I really am like you then I can get stronger from this, right?!"

She looked down at the boy his expression spelling one of excitment and eagerness. She gave a tinkling laugh ruffling the younger male's hair."I can teach you to utilize this newfound abilty of yours and yes, if you keep up the necessary chakra control and don't overdo it, you will be able to overcome your obstacles."Soku said casually unsheathed her blade which came free of with a ringing screech as lightning chakra began to surround it coating it with electricity as it buzzed to life. Soku turned to speak, her eyes glinting with a steely confidence as she spoke, her tone steady and serious."If you wish to utilize this abilty then you must first learn the very basics. One of the common techniques of our Bloodline is to infuse Storm-based chakra into our tools and weapons . It is quite a easy feat to perform and should come second nature with enough practice so let's start there."

Soku handed a kunai to him blade pointing down and moved back a few steps to watch her blade still cracking with the volts running down its cold steely surface,"I want you to try to infuse your chakra into that small kunai and see what happens."Soku said in a crisp voice despite having a curious look. Sato defnitely had some Santaru blood in him and she was willing to bet the father he talked about was somehow involved with the Santaru clan. "Remember, don't stress over it.
Take deep breathes, calm yourself, focus your chakra into the weapon and keep yourself calm and collected ."
The ANBU said leaning against a wooden tree waiting for Sato to implement her words into actions

Sato couldn't help but begin to beam when she playfully ruffled his hair, the unfamiliar gesture helping calm some of his nerves. This was a lot to take in. Not even just the lesson she was trying to pass along, just the whole thing. It was slowly starting to dawn on him what this meant. Soku-san was... related to him? Obviously it was a very distant relationship but if he was Santaru then it meant he had someone other than mother and grandfather. He didn't want to admit it just yet but he was kind of overjoyed by the idea. It would be like having his very own sibling! A big sister who could help him become a better ninja. A nice, skilled role model. Heck, it might even get his mother to calm down a bit knowing someone like that was willing to help him out.

"I don't mean to brag but I've gotten really good at chakra control lately. I was the best in my class at it during lessons the other day and I've been practicing in my spare time. I can almost do water walking without even thinking about it and tree climbing is even easier!"

He happily -- but still carefully -- clutched the kunai when she offered it, holding it and both hands and concentrating. This sounded a lot like a jutsu he'd learned the other day... but if he could do it with no hand seals that would be even better. Sure enough after only a few seconds he was sending his chakra through the steel of the blade, sparks jumping across the metal's surface as he grinned up at Soku, holding it up to show it was working.

"I got it!"

She allowed a smile to come to her face as the boy marveled at his achievement."Chakra control is really vital to these types of techniques so it will serve you well."She said watching the kunai crackle to life Lightning buzzing around the tip."A normal weapon is dangerous neigh but a weapon infused with elemental chakra such as Storm? Now that is devestating."Soku said motioning to her blade which gleamed and for a brief moment , you could see the scratches and dents on the worn blade from its many battles. It was the females favored Storm Blade which she had received and held onto it as a primary go-to weapon.

"Alright, next! You might be wondering how you are able to produce Storm Style so effectively. First off, you start by collecting chakra up amassing it preferably Lightning based chakra and then from there, your Bloodline mutates that chakra at your will amplifying it into Storm which is why we able to as Santaru convert Water Style and Lightning Style into the Storm Element. Watch.."Weaving some hand seals and focusing her chakra into the palm of her open hand, a Chidori began to take shape which then the boy would notice the jutsu to amass in size and grow darker in color before slamming it into the ground creating a massive crater.

"I just converted a Lightning - based Chidori attack to a Storm Style Chidori making it twice as deadly. Although, this Bloodline has risks too. If a Santaru is too emotionally stressed then the forces of nature will heed the user's command."As if on cue, the ANBU lifted her finger and a cold look came over her face. There was a boom of thunder as Storm clouds began to gather in the sky massing up a storm. The girl closed the finger and her deathly expression disappeared and faded away the clouds as quickly as they had come."It is not to be taken lightly."

Sato looked in awe at her weapon when she showed it off to him. He wasn't normally that comfortable around most weapons but this one was cool and clearly full of history. He wondered if he should try to get a weapon like that for himself. Something small but more comfortable to wield than a normal kunai. If he could get stronger by using something like that then he'd do so happily. He was aware he was going to have to hurt people eventually if he really was going to become a ninja but he still wasn't ready to embrace it just yet. Maybe a bit of training with a blade might help with that.

Next up she explained their ability to create Storm jutsu and watched as she created a technique that sparked in her hands a hundred times more intensely than the Thunderfist technique and had enough force to blow a crater in the ground. He almost wanted to ask her to teach him but he figured it was way, way out of his league, especially since that wasn't the point of the demonstration. He was quick to try and imitate her instructions. Of course he couldn't help but want to show off to Soku-san a bit and decided to pull out one of the most powerful lightning jutsu he'd been studying.

"Lightning Style: Zeus Flash!"

He gathered the chakra in one arm, bracing himself as he tried to focus his chakra instead of push it out like he'd been doing before, trying to drench the jutsu in what Soku told him was their special chakra. This time he felt the transmutation as it happened. The sparks coming off his arm became the same thick tendrils of energy he'd been so worried about before and as he thrust a hand out away from the genin and into the woods it created a vibrant flash that shined off his glasses as it went. Of course there was a moment of panic as he went and missed the tree he'd been aiming at only for the bolt to go much farther and strike another tree -- which made it explode, a result he'd never managed before with it.

Immediately he realized he'd probably overdone it with that, his knees feeling weak as she continued to explain. That last bit of information scared him. Not necessarily making him scared of her, no. He had shown quite a few times by now that he didn't have very good control of his emotions. He was just a weak ninja though. If he got as strong as Soku and was still lashing out like that he could really hurt someone...

The ground shook a bit as the explosion occured and Sokus eyebrow shot up in surprise."You're a quick learner, I'll give you that."Nodding to herself, the girl knelt down and pulled out a scroll bound with a rope dusting it off and pocketed it."I think your issue is that you panic too much or you are scared of what you can do. It shows in your technique and to be a shinobi, you must overcome this. So this is what I am going to do, as you can see, I possess this scroll. I want you to come at me with full force to obtain this scroll and do not hold back. I will use only minimal techniques to counter but I want to see how you would react in actual combat."

It was a test to see how the male would react at the prospect of fighting. It was a necessary lesson however if one wished to travel down the path of a shinobi. At one point in his life, he would have to face combat and it was better to implement in him a sense of confidence at a young age. "Do not hesitate, show me what you have learnt so far. Chakra control, amplifying your Storm Element. Do not worry about hurting me. I'll be fine. I am trying to get you out of your shell. So come at me with everything."

She brushed over the scroll in her left pocket nodding encouragingy to the young boy. It was a bug step for him to take but it was a necessary one if he was to make it past the Academy and into his preferred branch whichever that might be."Confidence in high stress situations is something all night jack must possess regardless of your branch choice whether it be ANBU, medical or the main branch which is why I am having you carry out this lesson. To see if you have the determination to succeed. Of course,
you are not required to do this. You can walk away if you so choose."
Soku said shrugging her shoulders in a casual manner. What would the young Academy student do?

This was a stunning ultimatum to throw at him out of the blue. They'd been quickly bonding and now she was asking him to attack all out. Of course he hesitated, even considering he offer to let him walk away. Of course that wasn't a choice. She'd made the intentions of this lesson fairly clear. It was something he'd been forced to think about more than once. Ninjas weren't saints, wise men who could save the innocent without hurting anyone. They were living weapons. Sato was no different and he'd already pushed aside any thought that going down this path would let him avoid getting his hands dirty. He clenched his shaking hands, bowing his head as he tried to gather his nerves for what was expected of him.

"I just want to help people. To get as strong as I can so I can protect people who can't protect themselves. It feels like every day I continue down this path a new obstacle gets in the way that I have to push down... but..."

His fingers dug into his palms as the faint memories threatened to push through his mind. The day a boy let fear and grief turn to unbridled rage. The day he'd been ready to kill. The day he should have died.

Slowly his hands began to unclench as little volts of lightning began to come off them. "I've been ready to lay down my life and take away another's since before I was a shinobi." He looked up with determination in his eyes, quickly weaving a jutsu before pointing two fingers at her and bracing his arm like he was ready to fire a gun.

"Lightning Style: Storm Bolt Jutsu!" The energy quickly gathered in his hand, sparking off into the thicker storm energy in moment. Instead of holding it back though he released it, a straight laser of pure blue going right for Soku. Hit or miss he was charging right after it, kunai in hand already sparking as well.

She nodded approvingly at this newfound confidence simply sidestepping to the right watching as the jutsu shot past her slamming into where she once stood. Tilting her figure to face Sato whom was already charging her kunai in hand, Soku allowed a little smile to come to her face."Now that's what I call being a shinobi. Show me what you've got!"There was a ringing and a hiss of steel on leather as her blade cleared it's sheath crackling to life Lightning chakra coating it as she brought it up in a upwards motion to clang against the kunai pressing forward with the momentum of the swing to force the boy back and off balance."Keep pressing, Sato! You may use any jutsu at your disposal but I will not strike, only defend so have at it."

Their blades broke contact with each other and the nimble ANBU leapt backwards landing on a branch balancing herself looking down at the boy. She was much swifter and well-versed in the ways of weapons than the boy but she was not seeking to overpower him. She simply wanted to instill in him a sense of confidence."As you can see, I am at quite the height advantage. So my question to you is...what would you do in this situation against a opponent much more skilled than you? You can learn all the jutsu all you want but it does you no good if you are hesitant. So come!"She said the last few words in a steely ringing tone. The kunochi ' s green pupils took on a battle hardened look as she crouched there balanced on the branch waiting for a attack that might never come.

His first two attacks were handled as well as he would have expected from someone a whole class of ninja above him. Of course it was just the start and while he didn't expect he could actually hurt her he wanted to at least show off some of what he could do. This was one of the first times he was in a fight outside of class and he'd never been up against someone like this. He found himself stumbling back after his charge failed and she pushed him back only for her to leap up into the branches and encourage him to think smarter, not simply go for power. It was a fair statement. No way he was over powering her from any range.

He knew that no counter attack was going to come but he still dove behind another tree regardless, seeming to seek cover but not from her weapons but from her sight. Going at her head on wasn't a choice so taking her by surprise was the next best thing. Quickly he considered the scenario and what options he had. He was honestly not doing the best chakra wise but he had plenty of tools -- now if only he knew how to do much more than toss them. He'd slip a few kunai from their holster, considering the next move carefully before he charged out.

Immediately he'd prep to throw a set of four kunai in her direction, aiming where he remembered her standing before he even saw her again. The moment they left his hand he was forming hand seals, remembering another piece of information she'd given him: Storm techniques were part lightning, part water. He hadn't seen either of them do it before but if that was true then maybe he could give this some more bite.

"Water Style: Impaling Hydro Jet Jutsu!"

He weaves the seals before the water formed in his body, surging up to his mouth and making his cheeks puff up for a moment. Already it felt off. He'd drenched this in his chakra and when he released the jutsu even he was shocked by the result as instead of a stream of compact water a thin, bright beam of the same Storm chakra he'd seen before shot out instead, going right through his target: the base of the tree she was in. He couldn't beat her agility and certainly couldn't match her up there so his best solution was to distract her with a kunai volley and put her on the defensive while he took out the tree and hopefully took her off guard. When she'd be forced to move he'd make his next move.

The kunai flew at her swiftly a barrage of projectiles hurtling towards her. Soku quickly calculated the distance between the ground the branch judging it to be a short fall if she leapt. She shifted her balance to one leg tilting her figure to the side as the kunai flew past and the branch began to crack a ear splitting noise echoing as it broke. But that was short lived as a jet stream of water shot out at the base of the tree she was balancing and Soku knew full well she wouldn't be able to move in time."Well...damn..."The kunoichi started to say as the tree groaned and unable to resist the force of the water collasped inward on itself, branches and twigs came crashing down and Soku hut the grassy surface a mouthful of grass in her mouth. She got up dusting her self off glancing at the fallen tree. This was where it was time to call it quits. She had seen enough.

She nodded approvingly at the boys use of his chakra."Good. Very good. You distracted me with the primary attack and followed up with a jutsu that caught me off guard while I was busy dealing with your barrage of kunai. Well played if I might add."Soku said sheathing her blade which had been torn from her grip when the jutsu had blasted her. Truth be told, it would be a different story if she had used her Sharingan but it was merely a spar, no need to utilize the visual jutsu for the purpose of something like this. She tilted her head, the pupils landing on the boys face."So tell me,
how do you think that went? How did you feel being able to utilize this jutsus like you did just now?"

He was showing promise and with a bit more training and refinement, he could be molded into a well rounded ninja."You show potential, that much is clear. This was merely a spar but what if this was actual combat? Would you be prepared to take it to the next stage? I know you are simply a student right now but once you hit genin rank, shinobi combat becomes all the more of a reality and you must have the mental determination to take up arms. All in all, however, I liked what I saw today."
Soku said a grin breaking out on her face as she held out a palm for a fist bump with the male."Keep uo the work, Sato."

Sato didn't follow up after the tree collapsed. Not for lack of ideas. He'd been trying to think three steps ahead once he got a moment to think but despite what she said he didn't have it in him to go all out. He'd feel terrible if her seriously hurt Soku. Even a strong person could make a mistake against a weaker opponent. Luckily she seemed to be finished as she put away her blade, congratulating him on his strategy and picking up on his chakra control so quickly. When she asked him about how he think it went he suddenly stumbled back to rest against a tree, panting now that it was over.

"I'm not very good yet... I think. It's trickier than I thought. I..." He paused a moment to catch his breathe and wipe off his brow before continuing. "It's easy to drench my chakra like that... but I'm still pouring too much in. I'm making the jutsu stronger but it's raising how much chakra I'm pouring in when I do. Need to figure out how to not waste my energy in the process..."

The next question was less easy to answer. She'd clearly been impressed by his willingness to take action but also not certain if he had what it takes to do what has to be done. She didn't say it all that directly but he understood the meaning -- was he going to be able to take a life when the time comes? He didn't answer at first, his eyes shooting towards the ground as he stared at her feet. It was something that'd been on his mind and despite the resolve he gave her earlier it wasn't as easy as he made it out to be. He wasn't going to kill Soku during this spar, not even try. He'd been willing to hurt her if it proved he was stronger but beyond that...

"I don't know. I want to say I can do it. That I'll be able to when it matters. But I don't know. I might freeze up. I might mess up. But..." He's shaking a bit, clearly nervous about even talking about this sort of thing. "I've also seen what happens when you do that. Hesitation can mean losing something... or someone... I'd be dead is the shinobi that came to my village had hesitated." He suddenly looks up, his bright green eyes moist with tears about to spill forth but at the same time filled with a hard set confidence. "I know the world isn't black and white and that it won't be this easy when the time comes... but if acting without hesitation protects people then I'll stain my hands a hundred times if it keeps my comrades safe!"

Only after did he realized she'd been holding out his hand to him, staring at it for a moment before he seemed to come down from whatever emotional high he was riding on. The tears broke through as he broke out into a smile and help out a hand to bump his fist against hers.

She patted the boy on the back feeling a sense of commitment to him"Sato, we all make mistakes. No one is perfect but we have to adapt. No one is saying you'll perform the task flawless when the time comes but think of the bigger picture, what could possibly happen if you fail to neutralize the threat. Besides p, this is what shinobi do to preserve the quality of life in this village. We make the personal commitment so others can live in harmony...then you have the ones whom lurk in the shadows supporting this good village from the roots."Soku said allowing her fingers to trail over the ANBU mask dangled from her waist used to conceal the identity of shinboi whilst on a misson.

She cleared away some of the broken twigs and branches that lay besides her and motioned to the boy to sit beside her."Before we leave, I want to tell you a story. A story about my parents and how I came to be here so you might understand why I do why I do." It was always important to bond with the student after the lesson in order to hit home the main point and somehow, the kunoichi just felt a sense of....wanting to protect the ninja before her but that was Soku. She wanted to protect everyone, the village was her home no matter what types of people resided in it."You might learn some clan history while I tell you."She added waiting for the boys reply before launching into her tale.

While the conflict was over he was a bit nervous about her asking him to sit down. He wasn't expecting a test or sneak attack or anything, he was just worried. Worried that her reasons for being a shinobi were similar to his. Soku-san was so nice and sweet, he didn't want to think that she'd been hurt like he had in the past. He just nodded and sat down though, trying to brush some of the dirt off his shorts before looking up at her, not saying a thing. He'd be a courteous student and listen to everything she had to say.

Soku took a deep breath to gather her words before starting."We start here back in the Leaf village. I was just like any other Academy student, bright, cheery and fun. But there was that one night that changed everything about me..."Soku said turning her hand over to reveal a deep long protruding scar across the front of her palm." My father gave this to me. Not that he was much of a father to me. He came home one night in a rage and dragged my mother off in the dead of night leaving me there all alone terrified at what had just transpired. The very next day, it was revealed what had happened. My mother had been used as a test subject for a experiment and as a result had been murdered.Soku said a dark look coming over her face as she controlled her emotions but unable to contain it all, her green pupils faded quickly replaced by the Sharingan, a gleaming eye of hate.

"It was then I made my vow to hunt the man who had done this, my father. And I did, almost a month later. I confronted him and out of rage murdered him, running him through with this very blade."Soku said motioning to the blade which hung at her waist. It had seen many battles and still had a gleam to it."Then I was pulled into the ANBU branch by the leadership. It was there I felt complete. Like I had a true family I could rely on. I do what I do Sato because I don't want anyone to suffer like I did. I ensure the harmony of this village to make sure no one has to experience the tragic horrors like I did."
