Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

There was a feeling of abject despair that came from every descent into the Tarterian Specus. It was as if every functional design of the Hidden Cloud’s prison were designed to drain the soul of joy and hope. Every surface was either a clinical white with several chipping coats of paint, peeling linoleum in sickening mint green. For every clean surface, there were two more elements of machinery or barricades made of dense iron and greased with filth. Here, the inmates were often restless, sometimes docile, or twisted, but always former shinobi stripped of that title. Indeed, it was considered an act of cruelty to have non-shinobi serve sentences among shinobi who could likely abuse them. Even with the connection to their chakra severed by layers of sealing techniques and technology with patents under lock and key. Typically, criminals were placed by their ranks, which were adjusted according to their crimes and skills at the time of their incarceration. Petty criminals were kept at the top of the facility, which was still surface level within the village. Much of the facility ran deep underground into the mountain, with the absolute worst criminal scum kept at the very bottom.

Not even Anatsu Uchiha had earned a place amongst the very bottom levels of the Tarterian Specus. There remained shinobi so dangerous that layers of seals and trapped passageways kept them away from each other and the guards, for mutual safety. They were effectively known as Double S Rank Criminals; ones who were wiped from records and officially unheard. A place for shinobi who would have been put to death if such a decision were possible.

Even the likes of Kaji Okada was glad that he was not venturing down to the bottom floors just to deal with Anatsu Uchiha. Alas, the spiral downward only brought Kaji to the S-rank floor, which was mostly empty. In actuality, the crimes of Anatsu were hardly A-Rank at best, but his dangerous potential as a gifted Uchiha meant placing him where countermeasures to his dojutsu were plentiful. By the time Kaji had come, he was informed that the inmate was already brought into the chamber. So Kaji traveled down a squealing elevator for what seemed like infinite floors. He was in the company of two masked ANBU who kept eerily silent and wore the white regalia of the containment specialists who brought Anatsu into custody a week ago. “You know, I won’t bite,” Kaji said, breaking the tense silence amongst the masked ones in the elevator, yet they said nothing in response. “They treating you guys alright down here? Like, do you want a raise or something? Cuz man, this is the pits.” He was sure offering a raise would make them budge, but wow were those boys professionals. “Sheesh.”

Once the elevator ride concluded, the Grand Commander was escorted to an entry point of barricaded double doors, which led to two more sets of thick bars, which only raised by cranking a pulley system outside that required both white-clad ANBU to turn them at once. Passing through there, Kaji met with another masked operative who gave him a debrief: “Greetings Lord Okada… The Uchiha has been placed within the barricaded chamber and has been prepped for the deposition. A week without nourishment, per regulation, with some encouragement from the guards…” she paused to swallow a knot in her throat, “to coax him into a compliant state. A review team has gathered in the monitoring chamber, per regulations, and will provide feedback with a verdict once a consensus has been reached. You are free to commence when you are ready, my Sennin.” The petite operative took a few steps back, eager to get away from the doors when Kaji unlocked them and entered. The sound of locks sliding rang behind Kaji as he emerged before the man of the hour.

“Anatsu Uchiha, we meet again” taunted Kaji as he strode into the chamber, heading right up to the window of the round holding cell that kept his prisoner. Kaji stood before the prisoner with his hands folded behind his back, looking the same as he did in their last encounter. “And I’m hoping you recognize me this time… Get up. I want you to come here and face me like a man, and remember who I am. Years ago, I warned you to never set foot in this land again— I showed you mercy and yet here you are, a fool facing the inevitable.” The stinging remarks were enough to inspire retaliation, but if the week in custody had promised anything, it was that the holding cell was neutralizing Anatsu’s ability to mold chakra, much like the chains placed upon him. Even attempting to manifest his Sharingan would come at the cost of incredible pain.

“I could go on but this isn’t a roast it’s a trial… You are here to answer for your deeds: a mile-long list that includes the murder of cloud shinobi and false declarations of war with the Hidden Leaf. I’m sorry they didn’t feed you at all this week… Personally, I prefer to be taken out to dinner at least once before I’m fucked.”

Anatsu had survived the Obsidian Palace, a prison where shinobi were sapped of their will-power, robbed of their mettle and bereft of their chakra most prisoners held below the first floor go mad within weeks. Legends tell of a mysterious seventh sub-floor which potentially could house the source of the hungry darkness but no man has ever ventured deep enough into the Palace and lived to tell the tale of its' existence. The Tarterian Specus was just are miserable, minus the part where it was difficult for Anatsu to breathe.

Not being fed on the first day common. Anatsu expected as much. After not being fed the second day, Anatsu instantly knew what kind of prison Kumogakure was running. It was beyond inhumane. Anatsu was deprived of his chakra as Kumogakure systematically worked on diminishing his physical abilities as well as his will to live. Remaining mentally strong was of little importance in this moment. Anatsu knew that he needed to submit if he were to ever have a chance of moving on. He did not attempt to analyze a way out. He did not beg for food or water. He did not dream of escaping. He simply, let himself suffer in silence.

After a week had gone by, Anatsu was morally and physically defeated, for the most part. He was hallucinating, tired, and struggled to see or hear properly. He was too hungry to sleep. He was in constant pain as his body fed on his muscles and stored fat in order to survive. If Anatsu was beaten, he was too weak to react. If Anatsu was moved into another chamber, his mind was too distant to even notice. If the Sennin wasn't standing right in front of him, Anatsu may not have even noticed him.

“And I’m hoping you recognize me this time… Get up. I want you to come here and face me like a man, and remember who I am. Years ago, I warned you to never set foot in this land again— I showed you mercy and yet here you are, a fool facing the inevitable.”

In his starving weak state, not only did Anatsu not remember their first meeting. Anatsu had no idea that this was the ANBU sennin who brought him here a week ago. Asking Anatsu to stand was a tall order. However, he would comply. Verly slowly, Anatsu stood up. His shoulders dipped, leaning forward. One of his eyes were open. The other, looking at the ground.

"Like a man? What about Kaji was a man? thought Anatsu for a second. Kaji would continue, "“I could go on but this isn’t a roast it’s a trial… You are here to answer for your deeds: a mile-long list that includes the murder of cloud shinobi and false declarations of war with the Hidden Leaf. I’m sorry they didn’t feed you at all this week… Personally, I prefer to be taken out to dinner at least once before I’m fucked.”

Anatsu would then raise his head, look Kaji in the eye with his one open eye and chuckle. This was the first sign of Kumogakure's torture working. Normally, Anatsu would have remained calm, cold, and collected. In this moment, he would show a little emotion with a chuckle.

"I plead guilty. Now fuck me."

Anatsu said as he started to maniacally laugh for a couple seconds. He would then look at the floor, stop chuckling, and close both eyes.

"I won't miss this brutal world" thought Anatsu as he prepared to die. At least, that Maru character wasn't here. Perhaps his death would be quick and easy. Anatsu imagined that Maru's methodology of murder was probably sadistic and as weird as he was. With any luck, Kaji's method of execution was quick and easy.

If Kumogakure wanted information, Anatsu had none to offer. If Anatsu wanted him to murder the Hidden Leaf, he would do it. Anatsu was a man who could be bought to murder. He was not a spy. He was an assassin. Assassins don't get caught. So why did Anatsu let himself get caught. That was the mystery that had yet to be resolved.

A week had passed since the whole dealio with the rogue ninja he caught, the scary man that took Anatsu away to the dungeon and now it was time for the trail. Maru nearly forgot about the whole thing, struggling to find something to wear, he decided to wear his usual kimono again so the guy would recognize him. When Maru finished with brushing his hair and making sure that his pointed horns was sharp the masked man skipped his way to the prison he had been invited to by his friendly neighborhood scary mustache racist guy he just assumed was a high ranking Anbu. He should feel guilty since he kinda merely stopped the guy because he thought it would be funny if someone like him captured him since he was known for randomly stopping people he had a bad feeling about. He stopped some little girl because she had horns, proceeding to call her a monster and was about to drag her back to the wilderness where the hell spawns of kumokagure was. Then there was the teen he accused of witchcraft then stalked her to make sure she wasn't kidnapping poor innocent children to sacrifice. And then there was that half breed he saw around who he was about to put in a cage if his student didn't stop him by threatening to tell his crush. All three were innocent, all three was let go and he was forced to clean bathrooms or baby sit some high ranks pet iguana. But THIS was the first time he had a hunch about someone and got it right, finally getting the credit he deserved from the good looking uchiha prisoner and Mr Mustache. All because he was bored and was looking for someone that looked suspicious enough to pick on.

It wasn't like he didn't give the man a chance to get away, he would've gladly let him leave if he agreed that his first stop would be his place so he could have him wear the cute magical girl outfit. The man was baby faced, dark haired, and probably had a good looking smile but the magical girl outfit would have just made him look adorable. Guess he was one of those shinobi's with pride, would rather die than be humiliated or maybe he just wasn't into guys. But he could transform into a girl so that wouldn't have been a issue, it's most likely his horns that turned him off. Oh well. Skipping his way to the same place where the whole Muii incident happened he raised his hand to greet the masked guards who were clearly on high alert since the uchiha might escape or some mercenary would break him out. "Hello there! I have been given permission from the man named Kaji to witness the trail of the one and only Anatsu Uchiha. He said it was cool, I'm the one who brought him in.” Maru said flexing his muscles.

‘Name and Rank.’ the gorilla of a man said, a bit straight forward since no one couldn't believe that this mask buffoon brought in a high ranking criminal.

"Yamamoto Maru! Chunin! Now do I get in?” The masked man said, then the Anbu looked at each other then gestured for Maru to fallow. The demon sage looked around at the dark atmosphere of the prison, hearing the droplets of water off in the distance and the sound of rats which made his skin crawl. The rogue was lead to the elevator since he was a little late getting to go with Kaji's group, hopping into the elevator when it came, the two masked Anbu walking inside pressed the button to the floor that the the trail was being held then they descended downwards. The trip down was taking forever, so to make small talk he decided to ask some questions about the prison. “Sooooo… This is one of those real prisons and not one of those pleasure dungeons with those sexy women with leather and whips looking to punish bad boys right?” He asked, and Maru sounded serious when he asked. The guards gave each other a 'WTF’ look to each other before he heard the ding signaling that they were at their destination then Maru skipped out first letting the men in behind him follow him.

The masked rogue skipped to where he heard the voices then entered. He was a bit late, so he pushed his way to listen, looking at the uchiha he looked like he lost a bit of weight on him Maru was still wondering where the dominatrix was.

Wait he kills cloud shinobi then he gets fucked? He knew it was a one of those pleasure dungeons.

"I plead guilty. Now fuck me."

Okay, Maru was convinced that this was a pleasure dungeon and appearily this was all some foreplay. From the way the man laughed he seemed to enjoy what he's going through so he must be as masochistic as he was! Though there were a lot of guys around, one woman, so many this will turn into…. ‘Oh my it's a good thing I keep the belt to my kimono loose.’ he chuckled to himself, starting to drool then held his hands up in claws smiling a toothy smile, he wiggled his fingers. "So who's having him first, should it be slow or should it be quick?” While it sounded like he was talking about killing, he was asking something else since he had his eye on the uchiha first.

<FONTFACE fontface="georgia">Kaji made an exhausted sigh at Anatsu’s outburst, which paired with the timely arrival of Maru like a burnt steak dinner with cheap wine. Without turning away from the caged rogue, Kaji acknowledged Maru’s arrival, saying “You could be a little less excited by that prospect... I mean look at him. I don’t know what’s more of a disappointment; the piss poor acting, or the possibility that he’s really that easy to break.” It goes without saying that a week without nourishment can really steal the bluster from a prisoner, but the theatrics from Anatsu were purely exaggerated, from Kaji’s perspective. He had seen and done it all before, as had many ninja to some extent. Serving as someone's prisoner was merely a right of passage in the career of a long-lived ninja. However, very few managed to have the kind of dungeon experience Maru hoped for, at least in the line of duty.

“Of course you’re guilty— that was never in question. What’s left to answer is why… Some perspective on your actions is really the only thing standing between you and the Sentou Henkan harvesting your eyes. You are an exiled ninja formerly of the Hidden Leaf… extradition would likely lead to your execution, all the same, wasting resources just to hand the Uchiha Clan another pair of eyes to bleed out.” There was no hiding that disdain. “But it makes me wonder… even the Hokageship has sunken into the hands of the Uchiha, and all of the village has run red as the result. You sought war with Leaf but you missed it. Instead, you were here, getting trapped like a rat time and again.”

Sennin Okada began to pace around the circular holding cell, eyeing Anatsu and scrutinizing as he went, emerald orbs ever judging. “What could you have done that not even the worst of scum wouldn’t take you back into their flock? Enlighten us… Who are you really?” Kaji tried to picture Anatsu back amongst his ilk, dressed as a Leaf shinobi and serving honorably but he simply couldn’t imagine such a thing. Perhaps in this new era Anatsu might have had a place, sure, but not when Kaji was among those shinobi bearing the Will of Fire.

"Who are you really?"

Anatsu had been so many people over the years that he himself forgot who he was. Who was he before the ANBU turned its back on him? Who was he before he turned his back on the village? A trip down memory lane was not on Anatsu's agenda. Why now? Why did he have to think back to that moment? That moment where it clicked. That moment, where it ticked.

"So who's having him first, should it be slow or should it be quick?”

Anatsu was in and out of focus up until the point where Maru arrived at the scene. While his presence did get Anatsu to chuckle ever so briefly, Kaji's final question brought Anatsu to a different place. Mentally, Anatsu was coping with the reality of his situation for the first time in a long time. Not his prison situation, his life situation. What has Anatsu been up to for the last decade?

"Who are you really?"

For years, Anatsu has been a hired merchant. Whatever the job was, he did it. Anatsu did not ask questions. He simply executed the mission. The Reality was, Anatsu was a tool for hire. He was a true shinobi. A mere tool of destruction.

Anatsu raised his face, for the first time looking Kaji in the eyes. His cold demeanor returned. Despite his weakened state, his voice was strong and deeper than it ever had been. For the first time in a while, Anatsu had conviction behind his words.

"I am a shinobi for hire. I am a tool of destruction. Women, children, and men all the same. I am everything that is wrong with the shinobi world. I am"

Anatsu would pant for a moment and close his eyes.

He would finish with a lower voice.

"I am death."

Anatsu would then fall to his knees. He was very weak. Perhaps, far weaker than he should have been. His nutrition had been an issue which extended far beyond a week. His health in general, had been deteriorating for a while now. Anatsu did not have it in him to fight the Chunin a week ago, never mind taking on the ANBU in his given state.

Yet, there was a very small piece of him that wanted to fight back. At least talk back. At least do something! Anatsu was a mere shell of who he used to be. Kumogakure had accomplished what Konohagakure could not. The villain was brought to his knees, facing his final moments. Whether Kumogakure would keep him n prison for life, put him to work, or execute him had yet to be seen.

Anatsu was ready to face whatever outcome they came up with.

Maru frowned since Mr. Mustache was indeed right, the poor guy looked pretty easy to break now that he took a better look at him. Though the Uchiha seemed pretty tough and would probably be able to handle anything the man seemed to be at his limit. He was also curious of why did he just surrendered because usually people would put up a fight rather than going to jail, especially someone like him. Perhaps he was hoping that someone else who is extremely normal give him a death that wouldn't be humiliating since that's how shinobi's die. Maru taking a backseat to listen to was Mr. Mustache had to say to the Uchiha, clearly he knew that he was guilty and with more racist Uchiha slurs the man was threatening to take the poor man's eyes then ship them to the Uchiha clan which probably what the man wanted. Waiting to hear the Uchiha's response he seemingly was out of it cause he went on to explain how he was a hired shinobi and how he was death before the he dropped to his knees. Maru giggled at the so called death, pushing through the crowd he decided to join Mr.Mustache then pulled the sides of his mouth to stick out his extremely long tongue at the man to mock him in his suffering.

“Neee-Heehee! How's it feel death being on your knees you pig, bet you squeal like one too hahaha! Oink oink oink!” Mocked the demon sage. He placed his hand on the shoulder of Kaji, holding him like he's been his buddy since forever. “Here, Mr. Mustache Racist let me have a stab at interrogating the prisoner because clearly he doesn't see the seriousness of his predicament.” With two pats to the shoulder, the demon took his hand off the man's shoulder then strutting his way over to get a little bit closer to the nukenin the rogue crouched down to get a better look at the uchiha. He rested his cheek on his right hand studying the man for a moment, the Uchiha looked like he was having all the fun since pain and suffering was meant to be shared. How selfish he was to deny him a struggle during his arrest, a mistake that would be pricey. “Hey buddy, what happened to you? You look like shit?” the demon mocked, he could make fun of the uchiha all day but the guys eyes are on the line and if he wanted to keep them he better start giving answers.

“Now look, although the tough guy act would make anyone aka me hot at the collar it's not helping your case at all pumpkin pie.” He said, pointing his thumb at Kaji. "This racist guy seems to not be fond of the Uchiha too much, so chances are he has no respect for you and me I'm not interested in those eyes of yours. I'm interested in this weird pink ball of flesh humans have called a….” He tried to think of what the Kappa called the thing that they always tried to steal from humans. "....shirikodama? Anyway it's some flesh ball located inside humans butts for some reason and the Kappa steal it cause they gain power from it. Don't know if a Oni could get power from it but since YOU got a fresh shirikodama for grabs I think you'd won't mind helping a Youkai out right.” He stated, putting up his hand that held his cheek to hold it out in front of him then took in a deep breath. The sage blew a dark cloud of Maleficium natural energy onto his hand that coated his arm inside of a vapor like aura. His arm began to mutant, turning a dark sickly green and more slimy looking with clawed like fingernail slicked with goo. "I doubt you want your cause of death would be from a hella extremely fisting just for me to goudge out something I plan on eating. If you don't want to know the sensation of a slimy hand going up your…. you know what best drop the bad ass act and give us PROPER answers.” He threaten, knowing he'd probably get away with it if the guy kept acting a fool. He'll be eyeless and shirikodamaless with a large hole where he put his hand if he didn't shape up.

When he felt like the man finally understood, it was time for some questioning. “Now! Let's get into the whole why did you come here? You said something to me about wanting to make amends for your sins or something-mer-ither plus you let me drag you here without a struggle which was no fun. So like why did you come here knowing you're wanted here? Why let a guy like me take you in?" He thought for a moment about the shinobi for hire part. "Also you said you are a shinobi for hire. Looking for a job around a place you are wanted in isn't the best move yanno but aye! There's been a joke going around saying if you shoot the gate guard the cloud village will give you a passport... At least this is a joke I'm hearing around the ninja academy." He chuckled to himself, at least that's how it worked for him when he first came to cloud.

Kaji was a mountain before them: hard as stone, monumental in stature, and unmovable when Anatsu gave his answer. His lips were sealed and his brow furrowed, so full of contemplation as what had to come next was clearing into view. And like a mountain, he was cold to that usual warmth that begged him to be compassionate— an inner conflict that told him to spare a wayward shinobi. He was shutting out the desire to salvage a being who promised to be unredeemable, and it left him quiet and reserved for a few beats. And in those few beats, Maru took his stage, poking fun at Anatsu and even trying to help him realize that he was dooming himself, to some capacity.

“I’m not a racist” Kaji countered, irked slightly by Maru’s accusation, even rubbing his five o’ clock shadow in a fit of distracted self-awareness. “The quality of a man isn’t determined by his bloodline, but by his actions… I’m sure there are good Uchiha just as there are good Jinchuuriki, of which I know a couple. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, it merely takes a good man to fight that corruption… But you,” he spun those emerald eyes from a focus on Maru back to Anatsu with a sharpness that could have chipped diamond. “You have corruption that isn’t the product of the Uchiha’s curse of hatred. The world has made you deranged and broken, too dangerous for us to be bothered with saving. The sad truth is that I hoped we could rehabilitate you— but I refuse to shelter anyone who’d dare to bring harm to the innocent without even a shred of purpose or regret.” The faces of his wife and children swept past in his mind’s eye, so sure that Anatsu would kill them all if he so much as found a chance. It was at that moment when the following felt like an easy decision.

“Review Team, I have no further questions and would like to proceed to your verdict,” said Kaji in a loud tone, addressing the silent watchers who had a view of the short deposition through a large one-way blackened window and an audio feed to the chamber. There was a sudden chirping of a speaker cutting on with a low static hum. A heavily modulated voice answered “Bzzt Acknowledged, Sennin Okada bzzt.” The noise filled the chamber, heavy and inescapable. “Bzzt And what is your recommended course of action, Sennin Okada? bzzt.”

“A trial by combat is a right reserved for shinobi who fight with a conviction for something they believe in, and are willing to die in order to uphold that belief… Anatsu Uchiha does not deserve that right.” Kaji gave the condemnation with only the slightest sound of remorse in his words. “I recommend…” with a pause went his head low with sinking pride, only to rise again with conviction— “Execution.”

“Bzzt permission granted, Sennin Okada bzzt” went the overhead voice with less than one minute of deliberation needed. It was actually a bit shocking. “Bzzt please exercise restraint— a bid has already been placed for both Sharingan bzzt.” The last bit left Kaji with an incredulous glare at the black window, even turning to Maru as if to see if he had heard the same. But then there came the sound of gears turning and locks popping. The walls of Anatsu’s cell began to lift into the ceiling like the cover being taken off a platter.

“No mention about an uh... shirikodama” Kaji said to the masked man. “So have at it once I’m done. Pretty sure he won’t need it once he’s dead.”

And on came Kaji, marching towards Anatsu with his right hand raised outward by his side. He bade his blade “Ven a mi, Espina de Anguilla,” commanding words spoken in the bold language of his native tongue, and from nothing emerged the saber in his grip. Eelspine was vibrant and verdant, seemingly ready to feed upon the foe of Kaji with the knowledge that it would drink a life that day. The diamond edge glistened and the emerald in its pommel shined as though the sun were condensed into it. That readiness to kill was flooding Kaji’s mind from the blade, aching to do that which Kaji still held some reservation. It wanted him to charge and sink it squarely into the rogue’s heart so that it could feel the last beats, yet Kaji merely held it by his side, quelling those ambitions with a lifetime of mastery over his weapon. Instead, he stopped short of a beheading strike and raised the blade at Anatsu’s neck. The emeraldine chakra pulsing from the blade was seething and abrase the skin with redness just from getting near. Some of Anatsu’s hair on that side of his head would begin to shrivel off and singe.

“Your time has come,” said Kaji Okada to Anatsu. He dared to meet him eye to eye, willing to test his resistance to whatever wicked dojutsu Anatsu might trial in this fatal moment. And at that moment the rogue Uchiha seemed transparent to Kaji, easily read. Would he face this death willingly or fight to the last breath?

“Choose wisely.”

How does one even begin to look death in the eye? Anatsu pondered as his eyes remained shut. He was death. Nobody stared him in the eyes. Anatsu was so lost in his thoughts that he did not pay even the slightest of attention to the Chunin. Both of these shinobies' fighting experience combined equated to less of Anatsu's by the time he was an adult. Having that knowledge made Anatsu go back, every single time. Ever, single, time. That night. That moment.

Was Anatsu now facing death? Perhaps. Was it in the form of Okada Kaji and Yamamoto Maru? Not exactly. He was facing an enemy far superior. This was not an emphasis on ninjutsu, taijutsu, or genjutsu. This was a self reflection. This was self inflicted. Anatsu allowed himself to be put in this position. He had countless opportunities to escape it. However, he never even attempted to. Was he really here for a bounty? Was he really here for work? Those were the deceptive thoughts he fed himself. The reality was, he put himself in this position, in order to feel something he had not felt since that night. For the first time in almost two decades, his back was to the wall. He was humbled, on his knees, and surrounded by two men who wanted to possess his organs and violate what was left of him. At least, to the naked eye, that would appear to be the case. Anatsu had the gift of seeing beyond what the average eyes could see.

This had nothing to do with his sharingan.

Anatsu had grown disinterested and complacent for quite a while now. He had allowed himself to be nothing more than an underpaid tool for the majority of his life. He was drinking, and gambling with his own life. It was evident, that Anatsu did not fear death. He did not fear himself. There was a darkness within have that grew. This lifestyle wasn't something Anatsu particularly enjoyed or ever desired. He was simply existing. The shinobi world knew his name, but knew nothing of the real Uchiha Anatsu. They knew nothing of the man who took on 15 Leaf ANBU in order to protect one Konoha shinobi in the name of proper justice. They knew nothing of the rising protector of truth. They knew nothing of the noble shinobi who fought tireless not just to protect Konohagakure, but the ninja way. He embodied the faith of mankind in the shinobi world.

Now he embodied nothing but darkness. He was death.

He was also in the situation with his back to the wall; the situation he put himself in. "“Bzzt permission granted, Sennin Okada bzzt”. Anatsu's sharp hearing had allowed him to hear the subtle whisper in the man before him's ear. He was a Sennin. It was all beginning to make sense. Anatsu was in the depth of hell and was faced with Kumogakure's finest, the head of the ANBU. As the blade approached him, Anatsu still did not react. As Kaji spoke, Anatsu still not react.

"Your time has come"

Anatsu's shoulders dipped. He was completely submitting to Kaji's will. He was ready to die. He had accepted the position he was in. Even if he wanted to fight, he couldn't. He was malnourished, tired, and depleted of chakra. He was void of the ability to put up a fight with a genin, never mind a Sennin with backup. Anatsu accepted death.
“Choose wisely.”
9348A965CF59A6950AC54D89FD05FB71304B50FF

Anatsu felt it. He felt it deep in his heart, deep in his soul. The Sennin before him dared to look him in the eyes. For whatever reason, Anatsu could feel like. Was he arrogant? Was he foolish? Did he hate the Uchiha? It was in that instant, that Anatsu gave up physical and mental control of himself to pure instinct. He gave in to something far beyond his existing state. He gave in to something he had not felt in a long time. It was still there, engrained deep within him. The most subtle of flames still kept the inner cave alive. Although Anatsu was aware of the flame, he had forgotten its name for so long. However, he had not forgotten it just yet.

"Tsukuyomi".

Like a dark shooting from flames, Anatsu's piercing eyes would open. Anatsu was depleted of chakra and the will to fight. However, the Mangekyō Sharingan had unmistakably appeared. Not only that, but with it came the most powerful genjutsu known to the shinobi world. Anatsu's inner flame was borrowing from his life force to launch utilize his dojutsu. Anatsu's inner flame did not embody darkness nor death.

Anatsu's inner flame embodied humanity's rage. It was the light that once lit for justice. It was something Kumogakure longed to understand.

The illusion:
Kaji would find himself standing by a tree in a partially green terrain scarred by the aftermath of a long battle. There lied numerous dead ANBU. If Kaji was familiar with the terrain of Konohagakure, he would be able to quickly conclude where he was. If he were cautious enough to count, he'd find 12 ANBU in a pool of blood throughout the terrain. This was not the beautiful green Konoha depicted in text books. This was the epitome of a former shinobi village on the verge of being eradicated. This was the inner face of corruption and betrayal. This was the last of a dimming flame.

Kaji would see three ANBU face another with a broken ANBU mask and damaged ANBU gear. If Kaji paid close enough attention, he would find Anatsu with his back to a tree, a kunai in hand, severely damaged body, facing the three ANBU. He would also find a child, hiding right behind Anatsu. Despite young Anatsu's ordinary sharingan clearly visible, his eyes were full of fear. He had random Kunai stuck in different parts of his body. His eyes had tears in them, but he continued to protect the boy.

Anatsu did not possess the power to show Kaji anymore. He did not have the ability to make the genjutsu last for more than a few moments in the illusion. It was an instant, in reality. Anatsu did not have the power to generate noise, or narrate what was going on at the time of the attack. He only had an instant to show Kaji a scene and make him feel one emotion. He wanted Kaji to witness one true feeling with his heart through the eyes of Anatsu. He wanted his potentially last dying moment to be a flash from a past that even Anatsu had forgotten. Anatsu closed his eyes as they bled. On his knees, he was ready to face his fate. He wanted Kaji to feel the heat of the flame that once burned bright within Anatsu. The flame that had been lost, forgotten, but still existed deep within Anatsu. He wanted Kaji to feel the true meaning behind the,
will of fire.

Maru's face turned sour when the guy acted like he didn't hear him, while he did enjoy being neglected the least the guy could do was tell him to go to hell, spit on him, or anything of the sort. Instead Maru was staring into the face of someone without much of a personality, heck he didn't even attack him. 'How boring….’ Maru thought, then stood up then looked back when Mr Mustache chimed in to tell him how he wasn't racist. While he knew there were good uchiha around he wasn't too sure about their being a good Jinchuuriki. Like, seriously there was no such thing as a good one. What attacked the cloud gates? Big ass holy dinosaur Jinchuuriki. Who can wipe out an entire village with one blast? A Jinchuuriki. What could've made mist a frozen wasteland? …. Well though it's not proven he was willing to bet that some kind of Haku Jinchuuriki's caused climate change due to constant usage of ice ninjustu. He was pretty sure all Jinchuuriki's are were walking natural disasters ready to explode, which is why the world would be better off without those walking savages. Perhaps Mr. Mustache looked at his uchiha hate as a bad thing which was clearly a misunderstanding on his part. Maru was about to tell the guy that it wasn't really his place to judge him for his racism but things kinda got…. Serious.

Maru stepped off to the side to avoid the glare of Mr. Mustache as he passed judgement upon Uchiha. It was almost like watching Lord Enma after asking for a evil souls sins give the soul their hell they would be going to and Maru was the snickering Oni mocking the poor uchiha. His punishment wasn't life or slave labor like he originally thought… it was execution. Maru after hearing that in the background he simply said. “Ooooo boy. That went from zero to a hundred real quick." While he didn't think the guy would get the death penalty at first, he kind of dug the his own grave. Did he give him an opportunity to leave? Sure did if he wore the dress if he came back. Did Mr. Mustache give him a chance to explain himself? Yup and he went a bit looney saying he was death like that would help him. Did Maru try again to help him? Yup and he was unfortunately ignored. He honestly believe the guy just had a death wish, if he was just going to get cut down in jail then he might as well should've just killed him when he caught him. Since he wasn't sure if he even got the right guy he was kinda glad someone confirmed he was a bad guy cause…. He would've brought that log in.

When the permission was granted to execute, and Maru's permission to harvest the shirikodama the mustache guy seemingly was about to do the deed himself. Maru got at a place where he was at a good spot to witness the killing of the rogue, crouching he put his hand on his cheek, tilting his head as he gazed at the spectacle from a good distance. The scary mustache with his blade ready, Maru thought the guy was about to send his head rolling but he stopped at his neck. Like a devil waiting for death to the poor soul, the youkai sage wanted to see what the response was to the guy since something like that couldn't be ignored. But when he saw the uchiha lift his head… then he saw a flash of red in his eyes Maru screamed to warn the man to look away. “MANGEKYŌ SHARINGAN LOOK OUT!” Too late, after a moment Maru was about to tackle the mustache guy to get him out of the path of the eye since he thought that guy would burn him to death. However for a good moment they looked to be staring at each other awkwardly for a good moment, Maru feeling a stab of jealousy that the mustache guy got to see the torture chamber the uchiha had he wondered why didn't the guy use that on him. While he was a willing to go through pain he'd at least put on a show to satisfy his sadistic torture. Though neglecting him to torture someone else instead was still alright too, a sort of mixture of jealousy and a need to impress master rather than the good mixture of pain and pleasure. A shame he'd be dying soon.

After being brought back into reality Maru asked. "Yo mustache you alright?” He asked, then looked at the uchiha. “Hurry up and end this dude before you end up being burned alive with those eyes of his."

[Kaji hasn't posted in 5+ days. Hoping Maru can just let me retire. RP wise consider it life in prison or something]. Maru, do I have your permission to retire?

Was there really a difference between a life in prison and being executed? On this day, Maru and Kaji became two Kumogakure legends. The shinobi world was about to be a lot safer without Uchiha Anatsu. Sometimes, stories do not have a happy ending. Sometimes, they aren't even interesting. Anatsu did not have a particularly great life. For it to come to and end here, of all places, was a miserable ending. However, sometimes one story needs to end for another to begin...
