Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Risu sighed, or maybe it was a yawn?, into early morning chill. Dawn still hadn't fully lit the world up, and the hazy gray that lingered was both comforting and made her sleepy. Lying down on the park bench, an extra comfy one that was perhaps meant for the exact purposes that Risu had in mind. Lazing. Since she was the first one here, she'd just utilize her time properly and relax before they had to embark on a mission. Twenty minutes before the rest of the squad had to make an appearance. Plenty of time to enjoy the crisp morning sans hangover.

The secluded greenery that surrounded her was one of the woman's favorite spots for waiting on Gate activities. Whether that be gearing up to go, waiting for others or simply waiting on the red tape of paperwork that occasionally bogged up passage through the pass. It was usually devoid of any bustle or general annoyance, and not because the place was unknown, or even hidden. It was just that kind of atmosphere. Relaxing with its mass of greenery that almost turned the park into a maze.

Prior to setting out, Risu had received a briefing from Takayama Shimada about the target location and a rough estimation of what to expect. The hunter captain was well-experienced, and so Shimada had deferred to her superior expertise about the risks of the road. He had provided a map along with a blurry photograph of the white thunderbird. It hardly looked like anything from the picture. The creature apparently roosted near a particular shrine on the Coward's Pass side of Mt. Asama, a long-dormant volcano, so the Onryou Oinin had a climb ahead of them.

At least it was a nice, clear day to head out for hunting. Shimada had advised Risu that she should expect the mission to take a few days or even a week, assuming they were able to find the quarry. He expected that to be the most challenging part. That made the entire exercise an excellent leaping off point for the reformed Oinin Butai to start from, in his opinion. Before sending her off to the quartermaster's for climbing and camping gear, he had wished her good luck.

Your captain has been briefed on essential mission information. Please post in this topic before exiting the village for the mission. When you leave the mission, post here to re-enter the village. Thanks!

Excited? No. Jubilant? Sounds cool, but something with more syllables would be better. Elated sounds too sexual. Not really sure why, it just does. Rhapsodic. Yeah that's the word. Rhapsodic. Rolls right off the tongue and leaves it with an aftertaste of badassery and sexual longing. Rhapsooooodiiic. Any other word wouldn't do Motomiya Kinten's mood justice. Today was the scheduled day of his first ANBU mission. He woke up earlier than usual just to prepare for it. It was still somewhat dark outside.

He studied himself in the mirror, adjusting his his never-before-worn ANBU garments. This must have been the first time he'd worn anything that wasn't from his impressive collection of colorful suits. Good ol' Dad's fashion sense had been passed down into Kinten's genetics. Ah, dad. Kinten missed him. He was such a good father especially considering how busy he was. It took a real man to run a company and still find time for his wife and child. Kinten wondered if his father would be proud of the decision his son had made choosing the shinobi life instead of trying to run the company. Either way, it was a decision made by Kinten and he'd proved himself to be very competent at what he did.

The ANBU outfit looked good but its wearer looked awfully out of place in it. Kinten made his way over to his room-sized closet and picked out a nice black suit. Nah, he wouldn't be able to wear it during the mission and who knows if he'd have a place to store it while he was performing whatever task was set for him. He put the suit back. He pulled out a cheap pullover hoodie and a pair of sweatpants and slipped them on over his ANBU outfit. They were cheap. He could just throw them away when it was time to do his job. The excited shinobi- no, the rhapsodic shinobi stopped in front of his door and removed a simple sword from a weapon plaque on the wall. He tied it around the waist of his ANBU garb and made his way outside.

Eventually...

Kinten arrived at the village gates. Dragon Tooth Path. It was a spectacular name for a spectacular place. It was here that separated the noble village of Kumogakure from the rest of the world. He hadn't left the village since he was a child. A nervous pit formed in the bottom of Kinten's stomach. Probably should have cooked that bacon a little longer. Oh well, he was here now. He looked around to see if any of the rest of the squad members had shown up yet.

"Guess I'm a little early. Oh? What's this?" Kinten spotted a figure lying upon a bench. Upon closer inspection, it was a woman! She matched the description he'd been given of his squad leader. Unsure of whether or not she had noticed him, he made his appearance known. "Good morning." "Ah...shit" What was the name of his commanding officer? "You know, there are more comfortable places to lie down in town." He smiled, and awaited the woman's response. Seemed like a good idea to make pleasant conversation versus awkward identifying questions.

Kirito noticed that his first mission would be one of interest. He wanted to make a good impression and RIn had informed him now that everything he did would reflect on her so he needed to do better than good. The Seventeen year old felt a tad out of place in his Anbu uniform. He looked at it in the mirror and honestly smiled a bit. He was finally in something that he had chosen for himself. He put the scrolls on the side of his hip and looked pretty stream line and no one would be able to tell what he did. Stealth was something that he needed to maintain while he was in his uniform. He still did not have a mask but that was fine he guessed.

Kirito walked outside into the night sky and made his way to the gates. He put on his usual attire over his Anbu clothing to keep it discreet.

He noticed there was a grassier calming area around the gate when he showed up. Apparently this place was pretty gentle but he also noticed only a few people there when he showed up. He did not say a word but merely waited to be addressed. Plus the girl seemed at peace so he wanted to make sure she was not disturbed until it was necessary. Apparently she was the leader and Kirito was not really thrilled at taking orders. He was never good at that.

As such he mentally sighed but waited until things picked up.

The woman rolled slightly, then tilted her head inquisitively to look at the newcomer in an almost upside down fashion. “Not sure about that one. Quite comfy. The bench that is. One of the best in Kumogakure, indeed. 'cept maybe the one down by the fountain... or maybe... Hrm.” She straightened herself, grabbing the light travel pack and waved at the other member to join them. “Arguably the best, at least. Give it a try next time you're waiting at the Gate. But off we go now, first mission and all. I don't honestly expect this to be much trouble. This is much more of a greeting between us than a deadly serious mission. On the other hand this is a favor for the Regent Commander herself.... so don't screw up. Flash your ID at the gates, I've got the paperwork, then we're gonna doubletime it up a mountain. She gave the two a grin before seeking out one of the guards on duty.

Takayama Shimada

“Yo, Shimada! Let me and my squad out of here. Paperwork! Orders! Chicken hunting!” Risu's outburst was greeted with an awkward silence as he attempted to maintain eye contact with her. Unfortunately, she was too busy motioning for the others to join her to notice his attempt. More awkward seconds passed before he finally took the papers and busied himself with procedures.

“Gladly, buntaicho.” Gruff, deadpan.

“Excellent!” Continuing to almost drag her followers along Risu set out with a wave of thanks to Shimada. “Feel free to chat it up while we have nothing else going on. Try to have fun. Just not, yanno, too much fun.”

"So I guess this here's the leader of the squad. Fine by me." Motomiya Kinten, the sharpest dressing shinobi in all the land, followed his captain on their way out of the village. Was it strange that there was more than one woman with oddly colored hair with a powerful position in the ranks of Kumogakure's ANBU force? Probably, but Kinten paid no mine, though he preferred his outlandish colors to be on his suits, not his hair. It was really quite a shame that he was wearing a cheap pair of sweatpants and a hoodie, but eventually he'd be ditching them what with his ANBU garb underneath and all.

As Kinten passed the guard stationed at the gate, he flashed his ID along with his smile and a wink. It was a wink that said, "Hey, whatever I'm going do is much cooler than standing by a big door all day trying to look tough." Was it an arrogant thing to do? Yes, but this was Kinten's first official ANBU mission and he was excited. Besides, what was the loser stuck on guard duty gonna do about it? The young trainee followed his captain as they exited the village.

Shiro fell into the formation at nearly the last second, because it's impossible to get Sage to write without putting a gun against his head, because he sucks like that he was the type of person who would show up exactly on time. Even if it annoyed everyone around him (because, as we have been shown, Shiro is kinda inconsistent with actually caring about people).

He was dressed up in a black preacher's suit with his ANBU armor layered on top of it, and his mask already fixed to his face... the mask was practically as comfortable as skin for him nowadays. Was that a good thing or a bad thing? It had practical use in hiding his face (and, according to tactical data, it could possibly stop a bolt or two before breaking... with any luck, that feature would not be tested today), but it gave him a bit of a faceless effect, one which might frighten some of the villagers. Then again, his face already invoked certain 'uncanny valley' reactions from certain people. So it really didn't matter either way so he'd just wear the mask until he was told to take it off.

By the time Shiro met up with the group of Trainees and their Captain at the gate, the group was already heading out. No matter, Shiro assumed he didn't miss anything important.

The masked priest kept his pace right behind the squad, taking a very short glance at each member of the group. Once everyone was at the gate, he quickly pulled his ID card out and waited. After a short wait the group was given permission to leave, and Shiro tailed behind the squad, just close enough to keep up with any conversation or planning that would inevitably happen en route to the mission zone.

Of course, Shiro wouldn't bring anything up unless he had a very good reason. Shiro. Is. Not. Sociable.

Well, as you might have guessed, I've had one sucky time actually getting myself to write. No excuses for that, my bad. I'll prevent it from now on, I'll scrap together 50 word placeholders if I have to. TT_TT
