Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

The time was almost 6pm in the evening and it was about time for Shusuke's pupils from the Academy to arrive. He had sent out courier pigeons to deliver letters to the students asking them to come individually to the Academy Training Grounds, without acknowledging that the others were also invited. Shusuke's talk with Keiji was really ringing in his ear. "If you ever hope to get even close to Hokage... you'll need to work on trusting your allies and friends, out on missions they are the ones that can help get you back in one piece and vice versa. If they can't trust you against them, then how can they trust you with them?" He let out a sigh as he stood in the center of the clearing readying for their arrival. He had something in mind.

Shusuke was unaware if these students were confident in their abilities enough to sign up for the upcoming exams, but Shusuke knew that they were ready, and thus he wanted to help them realize that they were ready as well. He had a sort of pre-exam test he wanted to give them to see how well they were to do. Each of them were told to come ready for an over night task that would require full shinobi preparations. He wasn't sure what was in store for them during the Exams, but if there was any kind of team work that was needed he wanted to make sure he had someone aside from just Haniki or Shishiwakamaru would have his back.

A series of tests and trials that would take no less than 12 hours were planned for this kids, but Shusuke was curious if they would have it in themselves to last that long, or would they end up tapping our and conceding?

Kiriyomi shoulders his backpack, filled with a variety of items ranging from a canteen to a spare change of clothes. He was told to have 'full shinobi preparations', which he interpreted as being prepared for anything that Shusuke could throw at them. He even made sure to pack a few snacks, just in case they missed breakfast due to their training. He was no good on an empty stomach. Heading off towards the Academy Training Grounds, he wonders what exactly his senpai had in store for him. Their last few interactions all had the threat of injury or death looming over his head, but surely that wouldn't be the case here. The only time Shusuke had come close to harming Kiri was their first time meeting, when he had unintentionally insulted Shu. Well, that and the time that he was threatened at the flower shop for rudely barging in, but that was also well deserved.

Regardless, Kiri was prepared for anything that would come his way. With the new jutsu that he had learned, he felt more prepared to defend himself should that be required of him. The fight that he had with Keniwa had taught him that he couldn't simply rely on Genjutsu to get by; he had to be able to attack with Ninjutsu as well to subdue his targets while they were under the effects of his illusions. Therefore he had studied diligently at the library and with his mother, who had an affinity for wind based jutsu.

Landing on the roof of the Academy building, Kiri scans the grounds for Shusuke in the light of the setting sun. Spotting him in the center of the clearing, Kiri feels a sense of unease begin to build. From what he had learned from Shusuke so far, this would be a difficult and grueling training session. Paired with the fact that Shu was simply standing in the open and waiting for his arrival worried him even more, wondering what sort of traps or tricks were in place. Because as far as Kiri knew, the training began as soon as he arrived. Cautiously approaching, he calls out to Shusuke from a distance. "Good evening, Shusuke-sama. I want to thank you for taking time out of your training to help me to prepare further for the exam. I still haven't had any luck with that yet, but I have been training hard every day and I feel that I am getting closer to attaining it."

Shusuke looked around the training grounds for a moment after Kiriyomi’s arrival before letting out a sigh. It appeared that Keniwa and Akio were going to be late. That didn’t really affect Shusuke too much, it would simply just make Kiriyomi’s task today that much harder.

”Welcome Kiriyomi-kun, I see your accomplices are here quite yet, but imma go ahead and get you started.”

Reaching into his pocket he pulled out two small Bells before jingling them in front of his face.

”Your task is easy. I have two bells and there will be three of you here today. The first two to grab a bell wins! Simple as that. Whoever doesn’t get the bell… well, let’s just say as the Pupil of two Hokage’s I can pull some strings. That Student will prove to me and the others that they aren’t ready to take an exam to graduate from the academy. Simple as that. So hopefully, your early arrival gives you an advantage.”

Shusuke tossed the two bells into the air as he would make a series of handseals before conjuring two Wind Style clones. The three versions of the boy would all dart up and grab at the bells before inserting them back into their pockets. Only two of the three Shusuke could have a bell, or maybe only one of them would have two bells.

A grin came to the Yamanaka’s face as he continued. ”Good Luck!” and with that the two clones would dart away from the training fields and scatter across the Academy Grounds.

Akio dashed through the village on his usual path to the academy. It had been a hectic day for the usually sunny Senju, who had spent most of his day running to and fro through the complex on tasks that were usually taken care of by others. There was a strange air at the Senju complex in recent days. Or maybe it was just the fact that Grandpa Itsuki had been less energetic and active in recent weeks. Akio had heard the whispers, that age was finally catching up with his elderly paternal figure. But the boy didn't like to dwell on the idea. Despite his age, the young Senju's grandfather had always been extremely spry for his years and his wisdom and presence had made it difficult for Akio to see the man as having limits.

So, as he arrived slightly late to the grounds, Akio's brow was furrowed for a different reason than his tardiness. Nevertheless, he managed to catch the end of what Shusuke was telling Kiriyomi, his keen shinobi sense of hearing picking up on the precariousness of the test that the Yamanaka had designed. Jogging up to Kiriyomi before the boy broke off in chase of Shusuke's clones, Akio said, Hey Kiri! So only two bells huh? No way of knowin' which has what, so why don't we single 'em out and take them down one by one! Most of the time clones aren't too tough, and they definitely won't be any challenge if we work together!" The Senju's tone as he said those optimistic words was light-hearted and uplifting, but he'd gained a bit of an edge and a little more pragmatism over the past couple years in contrast to how bubbly he was as a child. "Plus, it'd be unfair not to wait for Keni!" He noted with a grin, then formed hand seals. "But that doesn't mean we can't keep an eye out." The Senju adolescent added with a wink as he finished the seals and summoned forth an orb made of crystal that floated high into the air and hovered, keeping a watchful eye over the field and noting the directions Shusuke and the clones were heading.

Their clash had not lasted long yet it was welded in to the young boy's mind, he had been defenceless against Kiriyomi's genjutsus not even aware that they were transpiring. He had managed to overcome them through sheer strength alone but their battle could have gone either way in the blink of an eye. He laid in bed since he awoke sitting alone with his thoughts, whilst his empathetic mother had checked on his wellbeing throughout the day and supplied him with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Turning to his side only made him feel worse as he wished not to waste any of his mother's cooking which she had put time and effort in to. The radiant smell which lingered above each dish. gassing the room with an aroma which had become pungent to Keniwa's lack of appetite.

Softly pounding his forehead with his right arm and the side of his fist, reflecting over his time at the academy, whilst his physical strength had grown immensely in his time at the training at the academy, he dwelled on the powers in which he watched each of them wield. And couldn't imagine being able to create any sort of moving flow of chakra let alone fight whilst controlling it. He couldn't even defend Kiriyomi from losing his arm only blocking a measly kunai, this frustration clouded his mind and he barely managed to drag himself out of bed as his alarm clock hit 5:50pm.

Arriving late as he finally arrived at the grounds he could see Akio and Kiriyomi discussing what the task of this class was today. Catching bits of pieces of it he would scratch the top of his forehead with one of his fingers and say "Hello Akio. Kiriyomi. Apologies for being late. Are we chasing clones? Im sorry I wasn't here for the whole explanation."

Kiri smiles at Akio as his friend jogs up and greets him with a signature grin splitting his face. If there was one constant in this world, it was that his friend would always exude joy and happiness, making Kiri feel lighter and more confident in his ability to pass this exam that Shusuke had set before them. He was slightly confused, though, because Shu had mentioned his "accomplices". Akio was here, making two of them. Whoever could the other person be that he mentioned? "Hey Kiri! So only two bells huh? No way of knowin' which has what, so why don't we single 'em out and take them down one by one! Most of the time clones aren't too tough, and they definitely won't be any challenge if we work together!"

Kiri nods, glad that he wasn't going into this challenge alone. No matter what, he wanted to prove to Shusuke that he was capable of taking this Genin exam and passing. If that meant using his newly acquired skills to take down his senpai and taking a bell for himself, then so be it. He and Akio could take whatever may come their way. Mentally calling out to Kohara, he sends the flying ant up into the air to get a better view of the training grounds so that they could see which direction each Shusuke went off in. As he was preparing to chase one, he hears Akio mention Keniwa. At that, he freezes in his tracks and turns to the Senju.

"Hello Akio. Kiriyomi. Apologies for being late. Are we chasing clones? I'm sorry I wasn't here for the whole explanation." Kiri slowly turns and his gaze lands on Keniwa, who he hadn't seen since their fight in the forest. He seemed to have healed up fine, for which Kiri was thankful. He hadn't meant to fight as hard as he had; the bloodlust that he had experienced in the clearing that day was uncharacteristic for him, even though Keni had betrayed his trust and lied to him about going on a mission just to lure him somewhere to try and talk. So. This was what Shusuke had meant. The three of them were to face him together, and only two of them would pass this test. What should he do? Let his friend Akio pass and take Keniwa on with him while waiting for the next exam? Or push them aside and reach out to claim the glory for himself?

"Keni. We're supposed to chase down Shusuke-senpai and take a bell from him. There appear to only be two, but that could be some sort of trick. I think that the first goal is to subdue him and the clones one at a time, procure the bells, and figure out what the catch is. Like Akio said, we should work together. There's no way we can take him down alone, so we need to focus our abilities and strike together so that we can prove that we are worthy to take the exams coming up. That being said, we're wasting time just standing around. Let's go get the first one." Without waiting for a response from either boy, Kiri takes off after one of the Shusuke's. Darting off to the left of the training grounds, he quickly makes a few handseals and performs a new jutsu that he had learned, Emerald Emitter. Hopefully, with this, he would be able to track this Shu wherever he took off to. Once they had him surrounded, then the three boys could launch their attacks to overwhelm him and secure their prize.

Shusuke watched as the other boys arrived to the scene moments after he had sent out the two clones. Leaning against a tree nearby he continued to grin as he watched the scene unfold. It would appear that they decided to ignore the original Shusuke and decided to go after the clones first, as they decided the clones would be easier targets. "You might want to hurry, it would make this harder if they left the academy grounds, now wouldn't it." Shusuke would sit back and watch the show as he pulled out a small treat. unwrapping the sucker and placing it into his mouth he just waited..

As Kiriyomi used his emerald emitter he would find a Clone standing on the roof of one of the nearby buildings that were still technically on the academy's campus. This version of Shusuke was nearly steaming. Waves of heat rolled off of his body and surges of wind circled around his body. The students, if they all traveled together, would quickly realize that this clone was not only utilizing a Wind Style technique to cause sharp blades of air to be circling his form but was utilizing a Chakra Fighting Style that caused his very body temperature to increase to dangerous levels. Combinations of Wind and Fire would demonstrate Shusuke's proficiency in Ninjutsu, something that he knew two of these students excelled at. As they approached, he shifted his body to take on the Physical Style of his clan's Phantosmia fighting style. "I am not going to go down easily. What will you do when you find an opponent that can cause you harm simply by touching them?"

Slamming his hands together to make a series of handseals the young boy would pull them apart causing surges of water to course between them. "As I plan on becoming a Chuunin soon, I think I can let you in on a secret that I haven't been sharing with you three yet. Unlike most Shinobi our age, I have an affinity for all of the elements. So plan accordingly!" Fire consumed Wind. Wind disperses Lightning. Lightning crumbles Earth. Earth blocks Water. Water douses Fire. This was Ninjutsu 101 in his eyes. He would see if any of them understood the basics of the Jutsu Class Affinity Move! Water Style: Impaling Hydro Jet!" Slamming his wrists together to expose his open palms towards the students, a sharp and spiraling current of water would burst forth and attempt to strike the trio. Shusuke would raise a brow and see what they would do in response!

As the water current subsided he would quickly land beside Kiriyomi. "Let's see how your insects feel with a forest fire. Fire Style: Scalding Ash Cloud!" As he spoke he through a series of handseals together before exhaling a large billowing cloud of ash and smoke before biting down hard to cause the soot to ignite into a brilliant burst of flames. Would Kiriyomi be fast enough to respond to such an attack? The Kikai of the Aburame were powerful insect, especially those of Kiriyomi's ant swarms, but how would they fair against a direct blase of scalding hot heat.

Flipping over his shoulders he would dart out of the cloud's vicinity before propelling himself into the air and catching sight of Akio. "Be careful standing there like a powerful Oak, many times they are the ones to be struck by a storm! Lightning Style - Storm Release: Fissure Slash!" A large streak of a laser like substance would form as Shuske flipped in the air kicking out a crescent like arc of pure Storm Energy, and Advanced Element belonging to the Lightning Style classification.

Landing on his feet nearby the boy would look at the results of each of these attacks. He chose them as he knew that these students would have the necessary skills to counter them, and if they were still standing he would shrug before continuing. "Ninjutsu 101: Pass. Its a shame I don't have a bell for any of you." and the clone would dissipate.

It had been a while since Kiriyomi and Keniwa have spoken, the last time being their duel in the clearing, he hadn't wanted to injure Kiriyomi or even fight him in the first place. He had no clue how he had felt after it had been decided. He felt as if he perhaps had hit him too hard but that wasn't going to change the actions of the past, he shouldn't have knocked him out perhaps there was something he could have said. Despite this however Kiriyomi's words spoke true, perhaps there was a new found tranquility in his spirit, either way he could sense a large increase in power from when the last spoke. Perhaps if they were to spar again the fight would be a lot more one sided in Kiriyomi's favour.

Let's go get the first one." Nodding as he would agree with Kiriyomi before suddenly a Shusuke would appear, unaware of whether it was real or not he thought he could easily use his tremor sense to find out however he abstained. He wanted to challenge and prove himself to see how challenge a clone really would be, if it was one or the real Shusuke however... he didn't know. "Alright Kiriyomi! Akio! Let's do this... together." He didn't speak much but he tried to always say the most important matters at hand.

A thin stream jet of water shot out towards the three Keniwa immediately jumping in between it and his friends whilst using Earthen Cloak, and blocking the hit, swiping it away with his hand as most of it shoots of in to the air. Pulling his hands up as fists in front of his face the young Kyoujouran is filled with an invigorating feeling almost looking back at Akio and Kiri for a reaction. But in reality he stays strong pulling his fists to his side and standing strong.

Kiriyomi takes on a ready stance as he spots Shusuke standing atop one of the nearby buildings, watching as heat rolls off his body and wind slashes around him. This wouldn't be easy, and Kiri expected no less from his senpai. They had to prove that they had the skills to be Genin and protect this village: with their lives if necessary. He wasn't going to balk at something like this. As he stands there, waiting for Shu to make the first move, Keniwa stands between him and Akio. "Alright Kiriyomi! Akio! Let's do this... together."

Kiri nods to the other two boys, turning back towards Shu as he performs a few handseals and shoots a jet of water at them. Before he can react, Keniwa jumps in front of Kiri and Akio, lifting his arms as they turn to stone swiping the water away and forcing it up into the air where it floats down in a light mist around them. Kiri smiles to himself, proud of his friend for his quick thinking and usage of Ninjutsu. Keni had clearly been expanding his repertoire since they had last met. Looking around, he sees Shusuke land beside him. "Let's see how your insects feel with a forest fire. Fire Style: Scalding Ash Cloud!"

Smirking, Kiriyomi quickly jumps back, a wall of insects rising from behind him to create a dome around Akio and Keni. Executing a few quick handseals, he slams his hands to the ground. "Like you said, Senpai. Water douses Fire! Water Style: Grand Waterfall!" Erupting from the ground between the two boys, a massive spout of water shoots up and disperses the cloud of flame that Shusuke created into a warm steam that washes over him and the Kikai dome behind him. The ants scatter apart and return to Kiri, crawling up his pant legs and disappearing back inside his body. Turning his head, he watches as Shu sends an arc of Storm Energy flying towards Akio. Unfortunately, he wasn't going to be quick enough to jump over and aid his friend. Would Akio be able to handle this on his own?

Seeing his friends springing into action filled the normally excitable boy with even more energy, a huge grin widening on his face as he watched the flurry of ninjutsu that came out from both teacher and students. Keniwa had managed to effectively counter the intense jet of water that had erupted from Shusuke, literally becoming like the boulder that parted a stream and protecting he and Kiriyomi from the raging water's flow, the mist causing miniature rainbows to form in the light of the sunset. "Nice job Keni! Tough as a boulder like usual!" Akio yelled in encouragement.

Seconds later, Akio's eyes went wide as Shusuke yelled out his next attack. The idea of Kiriyomi's insects being burnt was bad, but the Yamanaka had threatened a full-on forest fire! The Senju knew well that a fire like that could be disastrous not only for the plant life, but for countless critters that hid themselves beneath the canopy. That was something that Akio couldn't allow. However, Kiriyomi had already sprung into action and encircled he and Keni with a dome constructed of his kikai companions. Utilizing this time, Akio flooded chakra into his legs, enhancing his speed with a simple Taijutsu that would make his footfalls more Fleeted. Then, with a flash of hand seals, the Aburame slammed his fist into the ground and intercepted the searing cloud. "Thanks buddies!" Akio said with a smile to the swarm that surrounded him. "Make sure to tell Kiri how awesome that was!"

As Kiriyomi's ants dispersed, it was Akio's chance to show his worth. "Now it's my turn!" He yelled towards Shusuke with a determined smile. He'd been preparing for this already, one hand whirling over the other in circular motions like he was sculpting the very air itself. Despite the Senju clan's usual knack for the elements of Water and Earth, Akio had a natural aptitude for controlling the Wind, even if he knew only a few techniques that utilized it. This was one of his newest, and arguably his most powerful to date. Within the palm of the boy's hand a churning ball of visible chakra swirled and condensed the wind into a glowing whiteish green sphere, his natural energy tinting the normally light blue attack his own shade of pale viridian and imbuing it with a spark of the holy. Rushing towards the Shusuke he could see, Akio shoved that palm forward just in time to meet the incoming stormy slash, dispersing the lighting around his rushing form in arcs that barely missed his body.

Shusuke had proceeded to congratulate the boys, but Akio wasn't finished yet. Instead of listening, he simply continued running forward, his feet spurred on by the rush of energy through his legs that he'd been maintaining. Akio was sure the Yamanaka would've been surprised at how much his natural speed had increased since the last time they'd sparred. So he lunged towards the version of his instructor that he could see, attempting to drive the sphere in his palm straight into the blond boy's chest.

The students responded exactly how they should have in this situation. They understood the basics needed to not only utilize Ninjutsu, but also how to counter it. They may not have realized it until it was too late, but the students were already in their next test. The night sky was filled with scattering of clouds as time seemed to speed up for them. The movement of the sky and the flow of the plants around them were quickened and were moving almost as if they were alive. As Akio would strike out with the sphere he would quickly see the heterochromatic eyes of Shusuke shift and melt away as his attack would strike out at Keniwa instead.

Laughter filled the air. "Keep in mind, there's three types of Jutsu taught at Konoha's Academy. While you all demonstrated your prowess for Ninjutsu, I wonder how you will fair with the likes of my specialty... Genjutsu. Every second you spend here a minute passes in actuality. You have already fallen prey to my whims. What will do you? How long do you plan on moving slower than a snails pace?" As she spoke the boy would move between the three students, almost like a blur. A combination of the Yamanaka's Mind Destruction Jutsu and the Slowed Perception Jutsu would cause the students physical bodies to drag behind and become delayed as if moving through viscous slime. Their minds were also being altered and delayed, allowing them to think as quickly as their bodies were responding, which wasn't quick.

As the students moved around in this new world of theirs everything around them moved extremely quickly. Leaves fell so quick one might assume the gravity has been amplified but the bird soared so fast they launched through the air like arrows. Shusuke grinned watching from a far.

How would they deal when they were facing a Genjutsuist of much higher power.

Kiriyomi would quickly notice their surroundings moving faster than their own bodies, his mind slowing down as well. As this realization dawns on him, Shusuke speaks at the same time. How long do you plan on moving slower than a snails pace?"

Kiri decides to take a risk, knowing that Shusuke has more experience with Genjutsu than he does. However, doing nothing is more dangerous, as they would fail otherwise. As quickly as his body would allow, he would perform the handseals to summon two clones, trying to hide his next actions from Shusuke. As the clones appear before and behind him, Kiri tries to calculate when Shu would pass through his line of sight again. As he does, Kiriyomi and the clones would begin making handseals again, this time to perform Black Out. The intention is to stun Shusuke long enough for him to get off one final jutsu, proving that their tutoring session served Kiri well. Risking it all on this final technique, Kiri would try to perform Cancel and free himself from the Genjutsu that Shusuke had cast over them, allowing him to return to normal speed and give him the clarity to attempt to rescue his allies as well.

Akio's eyes went wide as the illusory form of Shusuke melted into that of his Kyoujouran friend, and he just barely managed to let some of the wind within his palm disperse some before slamming his open hand towards Keniwa. "Grrr!! Sorry Keni! Be careful! He's messin' with my head." The Senju yelled after a growl of frustration towards the Yamanaka who continued to flee.

Shusuke was certainly a talented user of Genjutsu, in fact he was likely the most talented at it of any of the people that Akio had come across. When training and sparring with the Yamanaka in the past, the Senju boy learned quickly that he would need to develop techniques that could help him combat the mental onslaught that shinobi like the trio's inspector could lay out. It was for this very purpose that he'd been mastering the Cancel jutsu and strengthening his willpower through meditation with Grandpa Itsuki.

As he felt himself slow and the world seem to speed up around him, Akio focused with diligence he formed the hand seals of the Cancel jutsu, repeating them three times over for good measure, making sure that anything that lingered would be removed by the time he continued his assault. 'Not gonna catch me slipping like that twice!' Akio thought to himself as the world shifted back into the speed it should naturally have. Cancelling genjutsu could be costly, but fortunately for the sunny Senju, he had a wellspring of Chakra and Natural Energy compared to most of those his age, and with a jump high into the air he formed hand seals once more. In a flash, the earth in front of the Yamanaka would shift and sink into an inverted dome in the earth, roots from trees writhing around the pit and bamboo shoots forming into a punji pit of sharp spines. "Kiri distract him! And Keni, now!!" Akio called out, hoping his Taijutsu-focused companion would be able to kick him into the Pit of Crimson Tears that he'd created.

As the students would begin to use their cancel jutsu to destroy the genjutsu that were effecting them they would not only see the time dealation begin to fade but as Kiryomi and Akio began to go on the offensive against the clone directly in front of them begin to melt as well. Sitting in the tree branch near where they started the students Shusuke would begin laughing with a smile on his face. "Are you all serious? Now you decide to remove any potential Genjutsu? Did you all forget who you were up against?" Shusuke extended his arm and the two bells remained in his hands as he jingled them towards the students continuing to laugh. "I mean come on! Keniwa-kun, how many times are you going to let me catch you with a Clone Jutsu? Kiri-kun, I expected more from you. You've read my training scrolls! How many times did my Clone Jutsu come across in your studies? I don't blame you at all Akio-kun, I don't think you've had to deal with my Genjutsu much before., but these two should have known better."

Shusuke looked at the midnight sky. "Watching y'all for the past hour or so has been entertaining, I am not going to lie! I didn't expect to have to spend this much chakra so early on to maintain my Genjutsu for as long as I have..." He started to stand up but he dropped under the branch and connected to the underside of it with his feet. "Well, you guys still have about six hours. Good Luck!" He made the handseals to cast his Active Camo Jutsu which allowed him to essentially turn invisible before he darted off from the locatin into the small wooded section nearby.

Akio's attack in to his stomach wouldn't deal much damage, his constant defensive stance would keep him able to withstand heavy hits luckily Akio also reduced the power of it significantly before he would be slammed. "It is Okay Akio! Let's take him down!" As he rushed towards Shusuke he could see time beginning to morph and shift, himself and his teammates slowing down however the world around him speeding up significantly. Instantly he thought to use the cancel ninjutsu swiftly making the handseals required as he could see his friends ahead of him already back to regular speed, as soon as he would regain his swiftness Keniwa wasted no time in following after the two.
Keniwa's chakra supply had taken a hefty blow using that cancel jutsu, his strength against any sort of genjutsu was low, and he couldn't afford to cancel each that came his way.
--
However his physical strength was ready to deliver a painful strike to shusuke as he watched behind Shusuke begin to shift and sink in to an inverted dome, several spikes made out of wood and bamboo would point upwards, a painful remedy for anyone unlucky enough to fall in. "Kiri distract him! And Keni, now!!" "Right!" He leapt with speed bringing his foot up ready to perform a flying kick on the yamanaka hoping to knock him straight in to despair, however he flew right through the clone as he began to descend in to the pit, grabbing the ledge as he boosted upwards slamming on to the ground.
--
It was then when Shusuke's insults would strike the three students as they could be heard from a tree infuriating Keniwa as a scowl appeared on his face, he had enough for Shusuke's games, as he disappeared Keniwa become one with the earth using Tremor sense he could feel an image of Shusuke darting off. Pointing determinedly in to the forest he would shout "This way!" As he charged straight after Shusuke.

The sight of Shusuke just sitting in the tree after all that chasing caused Akio to growl once more, but it also presented him with an opportunity. "Not so fast!" He yelled after the Yamanaka, tossing a Flashbang towards where he saw the genjutsu expert starting to fade into the surroundings, and following it up with the trees themselves reaching out with limbs and vines and roots to try to tie the boy up with nature itself. Repeating the hand seals time after time, the Senju relied on his connection with nature to make grabs at each of the footholds that the Yamanaka could have stepped to next.

"We gotta catch up to him no matter what!" Akio yelled, forming the seals for another genjutsu-cancelling technique as he rushed after Shusuke in hot pursuit. "I'm not givin' up that easy!!" The boy yelled out. Despite the fact that he could no longer see the Yamanaka, the boy's advanced elemental technique and affinity for critically striking his opponents allowed him to have a better than average shot at catching someone even when his targets were in hiding or in conditions that impaired his visibility. So he kept striking out, nature itself becoming his ally as he fervently attempted to grab at the Yamanaka with ninjutsu after ninjutsu.

Each light touch of Shusuke's feet could be detectable to Keniwa as the young boy began to dart off into the forest, or at least as he attempted to dart off into the forest. A bright and blinding light took to Shusuke's field of vision causing him to stumble ever so slightly, but this was all the chances the young Senju needed as he quickly took control of the field and began to manipulate the very trees of the forest. "How the hell?" As Shusuke began to question what was occurring the voice in his head began to speak to him. "Oh come on, this is exactly what I can handle! Let me meet your friends Shu-kun!" As Shusuke tripped and fell to the ground with tree roots wrapping around his ankles he let out a sigh while looking up towards the sky. "Fine..."

Shusuke closed his eyes and found the soul that was dwelling within his mind and used his chakra to push it through his body. As he did, if the students were approaching, they would notice a small ball of glowing light form into Shusuke's hand. "Forbidden Art: Soul of the Sword Jutsu." As he spoke the scythe that Shusuke had bee conjuring ofte as of late would appear into his other hand. Slamming his hands together there was a surge of white light filling his immediate surroundings for just a brief moment before the appearance of a young boy, no more than thirteen years old, would emerge. It's so nice when you let me stretch my legs." He let out a yawn before stretching quickly. Extending out his arm he gave Shusuke a playful grin. "Now, where were we? OH! That's right you were about to ask for my help yea?" He began to giggle in a jovial manner. "Shut up Tamashii and get these branches off of me! So help me I will start putting your soul into a rusty spoon!" Shusuke would yell at the boy.

The boy with the white hair, named Tamashii, would chuckle before extending his arm. "Fine, fine, fine... No need to threaten me with a good time." As he spoke his arm began to transform and shift into the scythe blade that Shusuke had conjured mere moments ago. In one quick movement Tamashii passed over Shusuke and the wood that was binding him would be sliced clean off, allowing the young Chuunin to roll up and onto his feet before looking towards where his students were coming from. "They aren't making it easy on us are they?" "Oh, so there's an US now, huh? How convenient that you remember me only after I saved you." Shusuke, in this moment would be distracted by Tamashii as the conjured boy had a way to iritate the young Yamanaka. If the team had any chance to capture the two bells, this would be the time to do it.

The trio was in luck. Akio had managed to snag an ankle in a lucky strike as the forest itself lunged towards the Yamanaka, binding him up long enough for the group to catch up before he freed himself by summoning a wicked-looking sickle. It should have been horrifying, but Akio's focus couldn't be diverted from this being their only real opportunity thus far to snag those bells, even if that meant being struck by the nasty-looking weapon. Now was their chance. Akio formed one more Cancel jutsu in a split second, making sure that he wasn't going to be fooled again with false duplicates, he nodded towards the other two boys with an expression that implied it was time for all three of them to work together, coordinating their strikes in perfect unison. Then Akio began to form the hand seals for one of his newest techniques: Wind Style: Mirror Release: Shattering Shards Jutsu.

Hidden amongst the attacks of his allies, the tiny sharp slivers of reflective material flung towards the Yamanaka. However, while they could be deadly if aimed for a vital organ or even a target's limbs, these slivers shot straight towards the rope that the pair of bells hung from. Readying a second jutsu, Akio would reflexively summon a dome of earth around the falling bells, then merge into the ground himself using Inner Earth Reflection Lure, so that he could safely collect them as they fell. If successful, he'd re-emerge from beneath the earth and hand the bells towards Keniwa and Kiriyomi. "Here, you two take these. You guys were awesome! And honestly... I don't think I need anything else to prove to myself that I'm ready for these exams. Thanks Shusuke... Ya know... I think I was right about you that first day we met. You really do just wanna make sure we're all prepared and able to keep ourselves safe no matter what. Don't ya?" Akio asked with a genuine smile towards Shu, believing he understood a little more about both his teammates and the Yamanaka genjutsu prodigy.

Kiriyomi watches as Shusuke taunts them from the trees, activating a jutsu to disappear and begins to run away. He drops his head in shame; Shusuke was right. He should have known better than to fall for basic Genjutsu like that, especially knowing that it was Shu's specialty. He let his team down and didn't deserve to get a bell after all. He would help the others to get theirs, but he would refuse to take one if it was offered. Setting his jaw, he looks up in time to see Shu fall as he was darting for the forest. Akio seemed to have managed to snag his leg, causing him to tumble and fall to the ground where he was beginning to be bound. After a sudden flash of light, something appeared beside Shu and cut him free from the binds. Sensing this was their only chance to act, Kiri quickly runs through a list of jutsu in his mind.

Settling on one, he makes a few quick handseals and slashes his hand towards Shusuke. As the wind arcs towards the target, it splits off into 5 separate blades, easily blending in with Akio's jutsu and hiding the shards of glass flying for the bells at Shu's waist. He would hold his breath, waiting to see if the bells would fall to the ground or not. If they did, he would start to dash forward to retrieve them, only to be surprised when Akio quickly retrieves them instead, tossing them to him and Keniwa. Staring down at the bell, he would let it fall to the ground at his feet. "Shusuke-senpai was right. I should have known better than to fall for the Genjutsu, and therefore I don't deserve to pass. Allow the other two to take the exam this time around, and I will step down. Please, just let them pass this test. I beg you." Tears stream down his face as Kiri falls to his knees, looking up at Shusuke and Tamashii. He would do anything to make sure that his friends passed this test and were able to take the exam.

Keniwa wouldn't let him get away not this time. As he watched the forest spring to action whilst a flash of light centered from Shusuke's point he would ground himself preparing something which he had been practicing for a while. Ninjutsu wasn't a large part of his skillset it never was, however he had found a latent affinity hidden and locked away inside of him which was just burning to be let free and wreak havoc. His target was in sight as he turned his head to nod to the other two boys affirming what was about to happen, creating a few quick handseals Keniwa slam his hands on to the ground as it would begin to rumble and crack his hands warming up as molten lava would sprout up from the ground. Spraying molten lava all around in the debris as his two teammates would perfectly time their attacks. In anticipation he would prepare himself to jump for the bells which would have been released from their flurry of attacks.

However to his surprise he would see from all the smoke and wind each slice and dice that Akio would arise with the two bells in his hand tossing them at Kiriyomi and Keniwa. Almost instinctively he would swat the bell away in denial as he heard what Kiriyomi would say, responding defiantly. "We all make mistakes Kiriyomi. The best part about it is that eventually we can learn and grow for them. Sorry Shusuke but im not doing the exam if these two can not." He walks over to his saddened friend's side as he kneels softly placing his hand on his shoulder "You did a great job you know, you are the reason I even got out of that genjutsu in the first place." Looking up at Akio he would nod at him out of respect giving a quaint small smile his way as he would say to him. "You always shine bright Akio."
