Kamaru rubbed his eyes, he didn’t want to deal with this. He looked down at the leg of a young lady on the ground the look of the two women struggling one pleading for help with their eyes in fear of their life, the other looking at him questioning what Kamru thought they should do next, possibly killing the other one.
”Let the girl go… and get back into position.” Kamaru said quietly, he tone made him sound extremely tired.
”She says she knows you and that’s why she was following you.” the woman said still having the girls mouth covered while applying a submission lock to her while the younger of the two struggled.
”She must have seen me when I came into the temple. She’s one of the victims in the bombing, you ripped off her leg by the way in the scuffle.” Kamaru explained in a harsh whisper holding the fake leg up.
The pause and moment of realization though and the look of horror in her eyes almost matched the frightened girl as her mouth opened not saying anything as she looked from the leg to Kamaru to the girl.
”But she… I was just… I didn’t know…” she started stammering out.
They were both surprised as Kamaru took the girl into his arms, ”Get into position, I’ll get into position once I get her settled again and walking.” Both women looked flustered, it explained though why the young lady had been so fidgety while being grappled she didn’t have anything to support herself with. Kamaru quietly asked for help although she seemed adamant she could do it herself. Kamaru teased her by apologizing if she thought he was trying to look up her skirt. Her ears and face flushed suddenly stating she had been thinking of that yet smoothing her skirt down to reassure there was some barrier.
Kamaru opted to skip small talk and just get her ready to be moving along. ”We can catch up later, but for now I’ll need you to lead. Currently you would probably be endanger of worse if you stayed and you’re still thinking about me peeping up your skirt by the look on your face. You have an easy tell I can’t have you here, you’re going to get yourself killed.” Kamaru explained.
Although harsh he was looking out for her, she mentioned a garden close to an open market area and Kamaru hurriedly got her to leave.
”Sir I did think, I mean she was just walking behind you trying to get your attention. I didn’t know who she was your uh sorry about your girlfriend.” came a sectioned and broken up explanation and apology.
”She’s not my girlfriend… Do you know how old she is? This doesn’t matter. Focus on the mission and radio silence unless it’s important.” Kamaru stated back into the his headset in a harsh whisper looking around. He’d need to fade into the crowd and the area masking himself. He didn’t have time to be thinking of a some teenage crush or to be teased about it.
Tateno Ikue, was a good partner for the mission. She was mostly no nonsense though at time that also meant no common sense. She was an easy match it seemed to double for the criminal that was the contact for the meeting. Although her face was covered mostly by garb it also hide her ear piece with Kamaru filling her in as they went through the dialogue once it started. Filling in for her Lord and Master she took in the minor details and being told to play it up since she didn’t know if the other party was in truth a spy for the local law enforcement seemed to work wonders. Having her stop occasionally or put up a hand to stop the other party when Kamaru saw someone getting close relayed the mindset of someone on edge and paranoid.
As the other person left Kamaru exhaled slowly as Ikue left from another exit as well moving through the back alleys and shadows as well. Constantly on the move without looking back Kamaru could see no one following her thankfully from her final report.
A few days later Kamaru was reading over a report when he felt someone entering the room and slowing down. It looked like someone had taken all the paper files and made them explode over the walls. In the moment of shock Kamaru verified what was on his own mind first.
”It’s a setup for a prison break isn’t it?” he stated looking at the woman. Ikue blinked and stared at him a bit confused before nodding.
”I don’t have the who, the why, the when, and the most important how though…” he explained rubbing his eyes. From the rest of the brief the rest of the answers he wanted weren’t available yet either. He sighed feeling the toll of the long hours. He hadn’t gotten much sleep since the covert information gathering. Having Ikue state she had already told them she was going into hiding since she might be compromised soon if she kept out in the open had the other side hunkering down as well. It also gave Ikue a reason to not put on the disguise again for another meeting. Tell Ikue she was dismissed for the rest of the day had he standing there for a few seconds, she reminded him of the day of the week and that it was the start of the duty day. Kamaru opted to tell her to carry on and decided to take some time to rest. As he got outside he squinted, it was indeed a bright sunny morning, hadn’t it been afternoon when he entered the building? That was over two days ago though. He slowed his breathing and tried to focus. For now he just needed to get some rest.
The who and why were the important points to Kamaru on a bigger scale and that what woke him up, it was dark out so he knew he had at least had gotten in some sleep. The only reason Kamaru could phantom for the why is someone inside was being broken out meaning he was the best at something that they needed more so his experience versus the risk. Kamaru couldn’t figure it. There were too many variables to think of on a job to break someone out to comprehend and grasp the situation, you’d either need to be someone specialized in the realms of infiltration and demolitions or just exceptionally smart Kamru figured. The idea seemed muddled until the realization flashed his eyes open. Kamaru slapped himself in the forehead while in bed. The mastermind they were looking for wasn’t someone with deep pockets or a mercenary ninja. They were looking for someone with a higher level intellect. Kamaru quickly got up and out of bed to get dressed; he had some work to do. He doubled over suddenly and grumbled, he’d get something to eat first. Kamaru felt he was forgetting something as he went into work though, he couldn’t put his foot on it though.
