It was late evening and the sky was a scorching orange. The city of Iwagakure at glance seemed to be returning to a state of normality. It was almost as if the death of the Tsuchikage was simply something of the past. Which was entirely fine. The people of Iwagakure were slowly building again and repairing the relationships they once had with one another. For Kudaranai, it was such a marvelous sight to see this irrationality at play. To see how humans could hate their neighbor one day then suddenly love them the next. Yet at times, it was also unbearable. Because she couldn’t comprehend it. It was illogical. While Kudaranai on the other hand was a logical being. Did it have something to do with her no longer possessing a human body? Probably so. In her current state she was the definition of a monster.
But where would such an emotionless being as herself be heading at this hour? It was a simple answer. The only place that accepted her kind. A place where the sun’s light barely graced its presence. Criminals, stalkers and monsters of the night flourished there and made it their home. The place which was now known as the Abandoned Mineshaft. It was the perfect place for her newly erected laboratory. It was in a secret place where no eyes could possibly see yet at the same time it was in plain sight. The facility was in one of the many ghettos, but what made it unique was on the surface it seemed like a normal, unkempt home but beneath its floors existed the actual laboratory.
And inside this lab contained her undeniable proof that she was once human. Floating in a glass containment filled of a life preserving substance was her human body. Still intact and very much so alive. How could this be possible you probably wondered? Well none of Kudaranai’s organs were ever used in the original experiment. It was a procedure that had a probability of success less than 5%. Yet here she was, standing before her own human body so casually. But what this body lacked was brain activity. It was like a vegetable simply waiting for its ability to think.
It was for a brief moment but that question Akechi had asked her so long ago came to mind. What if she returned to her human body? Would she suddenly begin to understand humans more? But then that raised other questions about her current self… would her time simply be forgotten and would her ideals simply die with this faux body of hers? There were many questions none of which she had answers for. But the woman wasn’t going to contemplate too long on that. Because today she was going to create something very interesting that will change everything. An experiment that was once believed to be impossible.
