Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

[spoilername="Early Biography"]Name: Tokugawa Hanzo

Age: 18

Sex: Male

Physical Description: Tokugawa Hanzo is a tall young man topping out at exactly 1.83m (6') and weighing 90.9 kg (200 lbs.). His dark brown hair is of moderate length and is drawn back in a warrior's topknot indicative of his ancestry's long-ago-abandoned profession of wandering ronin, a sword for hire by any lord willing to pay. His tanned skin, though well cared for, is evidence of his time spent outdoors helping around the village farms. Hanzo is most frequently seen in traditional garb, wearing an earth-toned happi or green robes resembling those his ancestors wore. One can hear the clacking of his geta as he walks the streets, a sound hearkening back to a time his grandparents would remember. His eyes are two separate miraculous colors, displaying the rare quality of heterochromia. One of his eyes is a yellow in such a shade as to appear like a cat eye while the other is a sharp grey-blue. Overall, Hanzo seems from the outset as a man born in the wrong generation. His fashion, posture, speech, and physical demeanor seem like those of an era long gone, forgotten by all but the most elderly of this world. However, hidden under the guise of the old world is a dazzling array of tattoos, eighteen in total; one for each year of his life. Hanzo desires to get one each year as is customary among the males in his family. The incomplete array of tattoos consists of geometric patterns of various colors placed into a grid formation such that, one by one, they create an intricate mosaic which wraps around his back, stomach, and chest.

Mental Description: Hanzo is known by those who come into contact with him as a daydreamer, unfocused, and lazy. It is often noted that if he had the choice he would rather spend time with the universe inside his head instead of the one in front of him. This stems from his passion for storytelling. To him, the world is boring. In his head, he can make up new worlds and interesting stories which he loves to share with others though only through the use of genjutsu. Outside of these performances, he is quite reticent and allows his family to engage in most of the talking. Outside of his personality traits, Hanzo is a very troubled individual. After the recent loss of his family (except his two younger brothers) and his village, he has spiraled into a well of self-doubt. He is now the head of his family, a task which he never desired nor one he is particularly excited to take on. Should he attempt to preserve what little is left of the family history and techniques, or should he leave the past behind and find a completely new path? Should he continue as one of the few remaining practitioners of the unique spirituality once found in his home village, or has the sudden devastation he experienced shown that there are no higher powers at work? And what of his own aspirations? Should he continue on his path of being an aspiring herbalist, or should he focus on raising his brothers and focus on their wellbeing more? These are the kinds of questions which swirl constantly in his mind which causes Hanzo to retreat further into his imagination.[/spoilername]

History said:
[spoilername="Early History"]Tokugawa Hanzo was born into the Tokugawa family at a difficult time. His father, Keiji, and mother, Inahima, had been lifelong residents of Shimo Kimura which was, until recently, a small village in the northeastern mountainous region of Lightning Country on a fjord seated underneath an even taller mountain. Hanzo came into being two years after his parents wed, and it was not long until he had begun helping his father in the fields. As is traditional for the males in his family, Hanzo was given the Gift of the Kikai at birth. This is the secret to his family's power, historically being wandering ronin who would sap their opponents energy with their kikai before they moved in for the kill (or often times capture) with their swords and bare hands. However, since the last contract to be brought to the family was a century ago, Hanzo's father has made ends meet by being the pest control for the local agriculture. To survive during the winter months, this would sometimes mean introducing the pest that he would then have to remove, but Tokugawa Keiji made ends meet. This was something Hanzo looked up to, the care his father always had for his family, doing what he had to in order to ensure their happiness.

Eventually, time passed and Hanzo's experience of the world grew. The little schoolhouse in the village was not enough to contain his hunger for knowledge and his propensity to daydream about the outside world. His dreams reached a whole new level when a traveling performing troupe came into the village to seek shelter during the winter. He was immediately enamored by their ability to cleverly use genjutsu to cut costs on set design and backgrounds and instead make the audience feel as though they were right there, a part of the action. Being a fairly shy boy, it took a lot of courage for Hanzo to approach the performers and stammer out his request to learn some tricks before they went on their way. After a month of staying in the village, the troupe decided it was time to leave but not before they had imparted the boy with some rudimentary knowledge of their crowd-dazzling techniques. He would use this to tell others the stories that were always swirling around in his head, and these performances were some of the only times he was able to open up and make friends with others.

All the while, Tokugawa Keiji had begun grooming the boy for leadership. This was something he did not desire, but he respected his father and knew it would make the man happy. He trained his body with his father learning to control the kikai and his own muscles better, he honed his mind in the schoolhouse eventually reading all the dusty old tomes and scrolls the poor school kept in stock, but most importantly he sowed his soul with his mother and grandmother. His mother and her mother were herbalists in the village. He often accompanied them in their gardens, later helping them cook for the family and prepare medicines derived from ancient recipes for the village. Healing was his true passion, and when he caught wind of the medical shinobi of Kumogakure he immediately sent a letter to the Aesculapium hoping his dreams would be answered.

A couple weeks later, a letter had come back. It was from a doctor, that was certain, although he could not tell who. The signature was atrocious, as to be expected from a medical professional. However, the content was promising. The doctor urged the boy to come see what the big city had to offer. This was his chance to engage in true shinobi life. It was an opportunity that he could not miss and immediately packed up his things to go on an adventure. Once at Kumogakure, Hanzo was taken with the shinobi life and enrolled in the academy at quite the young age to learn all he could. Here the materials were of much higher quality than the drab, old schoolhouse. Hanzo was by no means the best ninja-in-training there, but he continued his passion for making medicines and practicing his genjutsu storytelling. He had made a few friends, and life seemed to be going well. However, things were not going so well back home. Two harsh winters had passed since Hazo's departure, and a third one was bound to be on its way. His mother had written him a letter imploring him to return and help both her and his father make some extra coin to buy supplies before the blizzards hit. He had to go. Hanzo politely asked his sensei if it was okay that he be dismissed and explained the situation to her. She understood and replied, "A true shinobi knows what lies closest to their heart. Go be with them. Keep on training." And with that, he left to return home.

A couple months passed and the late autumn began to turn into an early winter. On an eerily clear day disaster struck. A small avalanche began to accumulate down the mountain heading in the direction of the village. The elders told the denizens not to worry. They knew the snow would not reach the borders of the village before its destructive power dispersed. The cows did not. The fearsome bulls began to rage that day, breaking down fences and destroying property left and right. People were getting hurt, and one poor mother had been trampled trying to escape the destructive path of one riled up bull. She was with child.

This was all too much for Keiji to bear, so he jumped into action. He sent his kikai to pacify the mad creatures while he began helping people seek shelter. Coming upon the broken woman, he took off his long jacket and covered the unfortunate casualty with it, moving her body off to the side of the road as to ensure a proper burial later. It was at that moment he heard shouting from a barn not too far away. Upon entering, he saw that an old farmer had gotten stuck while trying to find cover. The man was groaning and whining about the big one coming back. Keiji was confident that his kikai had the situation under control and managed to calm the man down. It seemed that everything had returned to normalcy when he left the old man sitting safely in the rafters of his barn. Keiji began to cross the beaten path on his way home when out of nowhere a great force hit him from the side. He looked up, adrenaline coursing through his veins, to see that the big one had indeed returned. A large, black bull with mighty horns, one freshly covered with blood, stood before him. It was his blood, Keiji realized with astonishment. He looked at his side to see that he had been gored. The hole left by this beast was ungodly. Time seemed to pass slowly as Keiji collapsed to the ground. He looked down the path and saw the woman's body covered by his jacket. It was only then that he noticed the bump of her stomach. He was brought back to thinking of his own children and of his family as he stared into the bull's eyes. The black mass of the beast's body seemed to enshrine his entire vision as the world went black.

Many years passed since Hanzo had mailed the letter. He was now eighteen years old and secretly teaching his younger brothers Hachidoku and Ranmaru the jutsu their father had taught him sprinkling in some tricks he picked up at the academy. This was often the clandestine way the brothers would spend their time together. Keiji had passed before he could teach Hachidoku much of anything, and Ranmaru never got a chance to experience his father's love. Hanzo knew their mother would not approve. She disdained the family's past and wanted to move away from the violence, but Hanzo felt a calling. Out of respect for his father, he continued training his younger brothers. It was a slightly chilled day in the forest just outside of the village. Dusk was approaching, and the radiant rays of the sun began to play on the boughs of the trees and the old ruins of settlers long past. Hanzo was attempting to teach his younger brothers some defensive taijutsu maneuvers. This was something Ranmaru was getting the hang of, executing the move like a natural. As they were training and the sun set a bit lower, they heard a great and terrible rumbling and the earth began to quake violently. The three brothers huddled under a somewhat decrepit but surprisingly stable stone pillar and beam left behind in the old ruins. Under the cold stone the three saw branches fall as whole trees were felled by the earth's revolt. A great many shakes emanated from the ground, and it felt as if they would never stop. Hanzo was becoming disoriented and had to close his eyes relying on his kikai to ensure his safety. Eventually the tremors faded, and immediately the boys rushed home. To their horror they saw ferocious devastation as soon as they exited the cover of the freshly smote forest. Before them was a cliff leading into the fjord just as they were used to seeing, but something was dreadfully wrong. The village was gone. Just like that, it had sunk into the valley of the fjord never to be seen again. Hanzo tried his best not to peer down into the abyss, but morbid curiosity could not be restrained and there he saw it; splintered wood and pummeled stone mixed with the rock face of the cliff all lying there at the bottom. It was at that moment Hanzo was swallowed up by his own mind. He said nothing as he turned around and began to silently cry as he walked back toward the forest. There was a pathway there that led to the rest of the world. Once he was on the path all he had to do was stay on it and march. He did not check to see if his brothers had followed him. He did not have to. He knew they would come. He was their protector now, their guardian, and all he could do was walk on while his mind drifted further and further away from reality.

He simply went through the motions, hunting for food and scavenging clean drinking water for his family. It was a grueling two weeks, but they finally reached Kumogakure no Sato. Now that they had found true safety, Hanzo was not sure what came next...[/spoilername]

Lucky Pocket Knife said:
Description: A small, folding pocket knife common among country folk; especially young boys carrying it to imitate their fathers. The blade is a mere 4.25 inches in length, but is deadly sharp. The blade curves, coming to a clip point almost like a miniature, folding bowie knife. The handle is made of hollowed metal with room for the folding mechanism. This knife looks like it has seen many excursions into the wilderness, but has nonetheless been meticulously maintained over the course of its long life.

Tokugawa Clan Head's Katana said:
Description: A beautiful blade with a brilliant green grip, the same-kawa being ray skin, leading to a golden foil guard. The hammer forged steel blade, measuring at 70cm, provides enough length to reach opponents without sacrificing the ability to slash and power through elegant strokes masterfully. This is a blade that has seen much use, having been passed down from father to son within the Tokugawa clan for generations. Each time the blade has been willed down has been due to the death of the father as his son ascends to leadership of the entire clan.
