Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Character's Physical Description: Hone is 5’4” and weighs just above 140lbs. He has a Tuscan-red hair he keeps on the middling side of length, and lavender eyes that are often seen behind a pair of stylish glasses; odd accessories as his vision is perfectly fine without them. He wears what is best described as a school outfit most often – Black slacks with a matching jacking that both have white stitching on the seams. A white shirt under the jacket, and the checkered collar often kept up. He rarely ever has the outfit pressed, and usually has the shirt untucked which gives off a vibe of being less stuffy.

Character's Mental Description: Hone is, at heart, a hypocrite. He firmly believes that rules and laws are the opposite of the natural order, but prefers working within said rules and laws to get his way. This is because he has learned what he thinks is a truth – That laws were made to keep the people weak so they can be exploited. And he has no qualms about exploiting the people using those same laws they cherish. While he is not above violating them to get his way, he prefers not to do so. He has no empathy, but seems very capable of faking it to get by. He can often get caught up in his own ego and cruelty, and miss a goal due to this.

Multiple Personality Application: If applicable. If your character has multiple personalities, please state the nature of each personality

Character History:
“So what do you think the reason we’re alive is then!?”

Hone’s purple eyes watched the night sky as clouds flitted across the moon, the hard ground on his back serving as a sharp contrast to the openness of the air above. His legs were propped up, one crossed over the other, and his hands were clasped behind his head as he contemplated the question. Why was he alive? Beyond the fact than just shy of two decades ago a man and a woman were in the mood.

Hone was born to a single mother in Crater City who stated his father was, to quote, “a cowardly bastard who couldn’t even stick around to be as disappointed in you as I am.” Quite the thing to say to a child, even if they spent most of their time with their head in the clouds thinking about how they were going to grow up to become a big strong warrior who could help people. She was probably drunk that night, and every other night. Hone was used to working odd jobs ever since he was a toddler just to have her take what little he earned and use it to get drunk.

He tried going to the local authorities, something she had always told him not to do claiming they were only there to make sure good people were kept down by the government. True to her word, they did nothing to help him. He was taken right home to her, they told his mom what he’d said and asked if it was true, then left him there when she said no. That night was not the first night she’d beaten him; it was one of the worst however. He spent a few days in a hospital and knew better than to say anything this time around. None of these people were going to help him, they were just going to keep up the appearances of order.

He ran away from home before he was ten, deciding living on the streets would be preferable to this demoness. The next few years were tough, Hone fell in with a group of toughs who used him as a distraction while they ran their illicit activities in the city. It took them a year to realize Hone was skimming from them, but by the time they did he’d already sold them out to the authorities and moved on.

He was eventually caught in his thirteenth year during what was supposed to be a routine B&E, unknowingly having broken into the rented room of a shinobi. He was sure he would be executed until the shinobi exclaimed he had potential. Instead Hone was simply arrested by the other and carried to Konoha to be put into the academy. He did well in his studies after a few violent reminders of his place in the world. Over time, he appeared to come to accept things even.

Life as one of the oldest studnets in the Academy was not easy, being shown how much weaker he was than these toddlers and tweens. But Hone worked hard, studied hard, and found he did indeed have a knack for chakra manipulation as the old shinobi stated. The man, known as Maki, often dropped by to test Hone’s talents, not leaving until either he was satisfied or Hone was too hurt to get back up. It was not an easy process, but it worked to fast track him through his learning with this man as his tutor. He moved from student to Genin before he even hit fourteen.

It was just after he graduated to Genin that the new trouble began brewing. Hone had become known in the Academy for his forward nature in fights, often preferring to rush in and simply try to do as much damage as possible without a thought to what his opponent would do; a method he’d learned from Maki of all people. As a Genin, this only got worse. He spent much of his time in recovery due to this. But he began to work on it, not on being more cautious but on making this method of fighting work in his favor. Shock tactics served many a military well, and he adapted them to his own method of fighting. He would rush in, absorbing everything thrown at him in order to take his opponent where they thought themselves strongest. Fast and furious, he became like a bolt of lightning as his speed and ferocity showed through in combat. He graduated from Genin with flying colors into the main branch after proving his combat prowess on an assault mission against a bandit gang, blazing through their base like a child possessed. He was proud of doing such a feat before turning fifteen.

So how did one go from wanting to be a strong hero to what he was now? To be blunt, he was no longer Hone. At least, not the one who grew up on the streets under an abusive mother. He was…an amalgamation.

The thing known previously as Mamiotokogi had existed for…..well a long time. Even it didn’t know how long for sure. To it, time was quite different than to humans. Time only truly mattered when it possessed a human host, something it did only once every few centuries, apparently. When between hosts it tended to remain sealed within a phylactery where it slept, waiting on someone foolish enough to wake it up.

In a previous host, it had taken over a baker and risen to glory. Another was a bandit leader, that one was far more interesting. While it could enhance the existing talents and abilities, there was a limit. But it was not linear. If it had more to begin with, it was exponentially more to improve upon.

Its last host was an ancient shinobi well versed in sealing arts. While it had succeeded in taking over her body, in the end she won the war as her seals went off and it was forced into the phylactery once more. Her followers moved it into this cave system, ever careful not to tough it directly.

Hone was on a mission, chasing kidnappers through the mountains, when they holed up in a cave that, unknown to them, went deep into the mountain they were on. As the terrifying teenage titan ripped their rear guard apart with ferocious ease, they took their hostage and fled deeper into those twisting passages. They figured being lost would be better than being dead. Hone was hot on their trail as they moved, using every trick they could fathom to slow him down.

None of them, least of all Hone, expected one cave floor to simply collapse as he began an assault. They all fell dozens of feet, the hostage perishing. Hone took out his anger at the failed mission on the group, and one missed blow hit what they thought was a weird rock. In actuality, it was a crystalline coffer that held the phylactery. Mamiotokogi awoke, and in the instant Hone’s hand touched the phylactery, it invaded.

It took less than a second, but in that time Mamiotokogi corrupted the boy. It sped along nerves and vessels to the brain where it consumed what it found there, integrating thoughts and emotions and memories into itself and settling into the now hollow shell left behind. With a thought, it flooded the chamber with such powerful chakra the remaining kidnappers were vaporized. As of that moment, it was no longer Hone or Mamiotokogi but some twisted mix of the two.

Hone finally exited the caves a few hours later. He knew he had to report the failure of the mission, even though his outlook on life was now shifting drastically. Trying to declare himself god-king or something equally stupid would be a quick and painful demise of his new host, as while he could enhance people he had limits. So he went back to Konoha, took his lumps for the failure, and seemed to devote himself more to his studies.

Hone had never been one to dive into book learning before, but now he went through them with a voracious appetite for learning. Those who knew him began remarking about how he was finally trying to grow up. Maki didn’t like this shift, however. Especially since most of the books were on history, a thing Hone had no interest in before. During what he claimed to be a routine spar with the boy, the former Sennin performed many subtle tests before determining something was inside of his former protégé.

Maki flooded Hone’s body with a seeking form of chakra, brushing into the physical remnants of Mamiotokogi and causing it to recoil. Its true form came to light then, a bluish smoke seeping from the young man’s form and attacking the other with raw ferocity. An attack that was returned with a similar zeal. And in the end, it was forced into a bind as Maki methodically began picking it apart. Only stopping when he realized that to remove it would mean killing Hone.

What followed was quite a long discussion. With quite a few demands. It appeared that its power was no longer considered supreme, shinobi arts having advanced to the point that it alone was considered somewhat weak. A seal was placed on Hone’s body, not to limit their power but as a failsafe to burn out every millimeter of his nervous system should this thing try to turn on Konoha. Maki saw here a chance to give the village a potent weapon, but such a blade came with a second edge.

Mamiotokogi was forced to separate itself from Hone mentally, something it had never done previously. And something it explained could not be truly done. Some piece of it would always remain in Hone’s psyche, just as a piece of him would forever be in itself. But it was able to restore much of the young man’s personality. But so much of itself was still left that the difference was easy to spot. Still, this was deemed sufficient.

The retraining began. The restored Hone recalled his academy and genin days with ease, and with some tutoring was able to form new chakra pathways into Mamiotokogi’s reservoir of power. Training shifted, from raw physical might to a more subtle use of his new power. Forcing his chakra outside of his body to complete his melee attacks was one trick he learned, this one all on his own. He also discovered that Mamiotokogi has a preferred style of attack, shadow jutsu being the thing it was best able to work with.

Hone himself preferred to get in close and attack with melee, but Mamiotokogi preferred to keep a distance and use chakra. Instead of arguing about it, the two came to a symbiosis. Being adept at close and long range, and using chakra to boost each proved easy enough. The spars with their mentor also helped the two grow together.

Hone’s first true fight with Mamiotokogi was against another shinobi. Someone who was trying to blow up a building in Crater City. He was set loose on them with Maki’s oversight. While his opponent kept trying to get in close with their sword, Hone would simply keep retreating and blasting them with chakra regardless of how close they were. Shadowy tendrils would wrap around their weapon if they got into melee range, while lances of pure obsidian stabbed at them from range. And their wounds didn’t seem to be healing properly, even after they used a medical jutsu on themselves.

Then backup arrived, putting Hone in a three on one situation. It became dire, but Mamiotokogi would not let it end this way. The eldritch spirit encompassed Hone in its power, absorbing incoming blows and, indeed, seeming to leech the very health away from those who got too close to its cursed energy. Hone suddenly seemed to become quite more agile as the blue smoke seeped from him once more, but this time covered his form and formed bandages of shadow across his form. He fought back with the ferocity of his youth.

He could feel himself and Mamiotokogi growing more and more in sync with each other as the fight wore on. A welling up of power from inside of him, becoming easier and easier to access. And then, at just the precise moment their chakras lined up, everything exploded. As if the void itself ate the entire battleground up.

He did not see the crater left behind by the attack, instead waking up some time later in his mentor’s home. He was informed that he’d killed the three terrorists, but failed to save the building due to his own power growing to more than he could control. And then he was thrust back into training, this time to work on the uniquely difficult task of guiding and control the very essence of power itself, using his body as a conduit for something far greater.

All of that led to this, his final test. Proof that he could be more than just raw muscle. He’d been sent to an outlying city in Fire Country and told to find out who the person behind the recent thefts was, then dispose of them in as quiet a manner as possible. It had taken some effort to pull off, as used as he was to being a blunt instrument of pain.

But he found them. A woman in her late 20’s who was adamant what she was doing was for the greater good. Hone spent his time in the shadows, tracing her movements and learning her routines. He’d spent more than a month out here watching her, and then simply snatched her in the dead of night during one of her sporadic forays into the local businesses to take coin. She owned one of such businesses, a local clinic that operated for little to no recompense. And upon questioning, claimed she was burgling her peers to keep the clinic running for those lesser off individuals who couldn’t afford medical care.

Which is what led to the philosophical debate on human lives, something Hone calmly said was a joke.

“So what do you think the reason we’re alive is then?!”

He looked up at the moon as he considered the question a moment before, his history flashing into his mind. Finally he turned his head to her, his eyes pools of black as the shadows of Mamiotokogi took control of his form.

”Reason? We’re happenstance. Mere chance. Your life was a coincidence, just as my own. Your death will impact people, but the universe won’t even notice.”

She tried to scream, but the overpowering shadows flooded her every orifice and left Hone standing alone with ash when the creature inside of him was done with her. Mamiotokogi let Hone resume control as the youth looked in confusion but simply accepted that what had to be done, had.

Anyone whose character has not died is still capable of RPing that character until their OCR is finalized, and thus can train as normal.

Things you do NOT need to state, but take note of:

 • Abilities = All of your Abilities are auto-untrained upon rebirth. In order to have any Abilities for your new character, you must activate them by posting in your character’s Dojo topic in your new village.
 • Character History = By suiciding/rebirthing, you're making a new character. This means your new character must not know or remember anything of your old character's life/thoughts/feelings. If your new character has ANY direct/indirect connection to your old character, you MUST state that in your new character history write up for Admin & Village approvals. All Medical or ANBU related experience should be reflected in your history along with CA or BL influence.
 • Editing Your New Character Application = Do not edit a post you have made in your OCR. You must copy all of your information from your last post and add the changes to the new post. This is for papertrail reasons.

Things that do NOT transfer with your next character:

Please take notice of which ASP shop items that you have bought transfer with your character, and which do not.

Name of any Contract you currently own: Ungulate.
- If Retiring character, list link to obtaining the Contract. You will regain this contract upon rebirth back into this character provided you do not transfer it or swap it. Contracts do not transfer over to new characters normally. You may pay 300 Advanced Shop Points to transfer over a single contract you currently own, or pay 450 Advanced Shop Points to swap and transfer one contract you own for another contract during the OCR process. Both options require a writeup to be sent to the contract team for approval of how you gained the contract as your new character. You may not switch to a rare contract from a common contract. (Rare contracts are Kami, Youkai, Tsukumogami, and Elemental)

Still actively roleplaying in any other threads? No.
Upon death, roleplayers in ANY of your other incomplete thread(s) are to vote whether they can deal with your non-existence from the beginning of these thread(s). Whether you joined these thread(s) before or after you entered the battle that got you killed, you are still considered a part of these thread(s).

- If players vote yes, you get to move on to your next life.

- If players vote no, you must stay in those threads as if you were still alive.

You can still train (see: explanation of Limbo Training below) and do other OOC things, but you may NOT join any new threads. After you have completed these thread(s), post in OCR again and we will move you on to your next life.

What is Limbo Training?

This is the training that you would have gotten if you did not move on to your new character's life. Your caps are determined by your rebirthed stats. You must keep a record of your stats gained during limbo in your OCR thread. You may NOT request for an automatic rank up should you find that your new stats allow you to upgrade. Limbo training is only for people who have died in modded combat or suicide.
