Even though she hated the reasoning for this trip, her brother once again making her do his errands, she was glad for the time away. It was rare to get time off to begin with, let alone leaving the village. But after everything which happened Kumiko was thankful. Not only had he just finished a particularly difficult mission for the Steward a short time ago, there were the events of the Christmas part she wished to distance herself from. As long as she didn't see Roku for a long time maybe she could forget about it all. So, having prepared herself for the Diamond Maelstrom, Kumiko was to set out to Soon's Haven. As long as she was granted access to the Barnyx great lift in order to make it to the surface.

How Kagai hated guard duty. Not only was it boring, he had to be fully dressed in his ANBU gear including his mask. He sat at his desk, writing down ideas for next weeks sermon in the slums. It was going to be about sin, and the eventual coming of the great Rapture that will cleanse this world of impurities by use of Kojin's golden flame. He looked up to see a familiar face walking towards the lift. Kumiko, the sister to that Bruinetto bastard who he caught trying to get with his sister, and one of the people who had accompanied him on his last mission for the Steward.

"Halt. State your business." Kagai would ask as she came within ear shot. He thought about giving her a hard time, but he didn't feel like hearing about it from the higher-ups later on if she chose to snitch on him...Plus petty revenge was frowned upon by Lord Kojin.

 

[Kumiko]

As expected an ANBU stopped her before she exited the village, as was procedure. Stopping before his work station Kumiko addressed him. " I'm travelling through the Maelstorm to Soon's Haven. I'm picking up some parts for my brother that he can only get there. He is unable to go due to his current mission. " That pretty much explained everything. The sooner she was out of Suna the better.

 

[Kagai]

"Very well, go on ahead." He would say as he motioned his hand towards the lift..."Be careful out there." He would add as he turned his attention back to his half-written sermon. And this is why guard duty was boring as shit almost all the time..."I hope you dressed in layers. The storm sounds particularly unforgiving today." He would caution her. He was unsure if it was true, or if the winds even changed within the maelstrom at all, but after listening to it for over three hours now it sounded as if it was getting louder.

[Exit granted]

 

[Kumiko]

Kumiko nodded her thanks towards the ANBU as he permitted her use of the lift. The added concern in her words weren't really needed, since she had been topside on more than one occasion and knew the dangerous, but it was welcome. " Don't worry ANBU-san. I'm well prepared for the journey. it would be here Kumiko tied her black hair back into a ponytail, placed her goggles over her eyes, wrapped her scarf about her face, and added an extra heavy cloak atop her leather trench coat which was zipped all the way up to her chin. Both hoods were them brought up over her head ready to face the elements as the lift ascended towards the surface.
