Shiga walked all around town with his chunnin uniform, investigating anything to do with liquid. This included bars, fruit shops, water supplies, ect. He asked for a sample of each liquid and tested them with a paper strip. The paper turned different shades of purple if the poison is detected, depending on the compound of the poison. He wandered especially around the south part of the village, where he held the most suspicion.
The boy was about the head westward when a man pushed him in the back and snatched the packet of testing papers he held within his hand. Shiga then knew he had his answer and chased after the man. Villagers were probably spreading the news around this area of the village and the traders were likely to start panicking. The soldier turned around an alleyway to follow the man to a soda shop. There, he found three men pounding tar-like substance with a wooden hammer. One of them looked up at him and yelled.
”You idiot, if you are going to run, you should have went off the opposite way. Why would you bring him here?!”
Shiga stepped forward. Something seemed off.. This can’t be all. The materials here was definitely poison, but the amount was too small to cause this much commotion.
”Where are the others? I know there are more.”
The man looked at him silently without speaking. Shiga sighed.
”Well, if you are not going to talk, then maybe you will open your mouth with some encouragement,” he said while leading him outside of the area.
