Name: Tsuirakuya Shashu
Age: 12
Gender: Female
General Description: A rather tall girl, with bright silver-grey eyes, Shashu takes heavily after her mother, including her long dark brown, almost black, wavy hair, which falls almost to her waist. While she is an attractive girl, she is hardly the popular type, choosing instead to stand on her own. Though she often takes a serious view of things, spending much of her time training and learning new things, she can often be found just relaxing outside, reading a good book, listening to music, or any combination thereof. This extends to her rather mutable personality as well, her defiant and fierce temper contrasting with her basically good nature. Most importantly, Shashu is motivated by an intense desire to improve herself, to break her limits and forge her own destiny.
History: An only child, Shashu was raised chiefly by her mother, Yumi. Both her parents hailed from the same clan, the Tsuirakuya, whose origins run back over a thousand years, to the rule of a long-forgotten samurai lord. This lord, as often the case, was of a particularly warlike sort, and would often attempt to expand his domain, invading and conquering the territories of lesser lords than he. Understandably he made a great deal of enemies, and one day while out hunting he was attacked by a group of assassins. Fortunately, a wanderer heard the attack, and drove off the assassins. The lord, impressed by his actions, gave him the name Tsuirakuya in honor of his skill, and made of him his closest adviser and bodyguard. This man would go on to found a clan, bound by honor to the lord and his descendants. However, as time wore on the bonds forged in honor were twisted, as the lord's descendants turned paranoid and heartless with greed. The proud clan of warriors and protectors became assassins, and when the old lord's line came to an end, they became little more than hired killers. This is the world Shashu's mother was born into, raised and treated as if she were no more than a tool, even given a name according to her purpose. When she met Shashu's father, Denrei, they would fall in love and eventually have a child. He was overjoyed, but she was not. Overcome with terror at the thought of her own child going through what she did, Shashu's mother fled to the Lighting Country, far from her past life. At birth, she told her newborn daughter: "I name you Shashu, she who holds the bow, she who shoots the arrow. You will be no one's tool. With this name, I give you the chance to choose your own destiny. Be strong, little archer." Growing up, Shashu was given free reign to do as she chose, within reason, guided by the stern but loving hand of her mother. Often her mother would tell her of the history of their clan, a tale of inspiration and of caution, and each year on her birthday, her mother would repeat the first words she heard upon coming into this world. Now twelve years old, Shashu has chosen to join the Academy, to become a shinobi, that she might live up to the strength of her mother's words.
