Name: Tsukane Chi
Age: 12
Physical Description: Being only 150.6 cm and 42 kg, it is no surprise that Chi has been called out on her appearance. She is quite pale with a small mole under the corner of her eye, light details that serve her an even further doll-like appearance. Although she would rather not admit, the little girl has never had long hair. Her mother had always kept her hair short or trimmed, usually tied into a pair of tails high up on the back of her head, but Chi secretly believes black hair is most beautiful when it is long and loose. Her expression is mostly, if not always, calm and relaxed as her round blue eyes give off a friendly and gentle vibe.
Growing up, Chi has always been fond of sharp and 'pokey' objects (spoiler: weapons) and always assumed that she would become a weapon wielding ninja one day. For that reason alone, she has never worn loose or over-sized clothing, instead choosing to collect many different tight-fitting outfits throughout the years. She likes to stick to a cropped turtleneck, and black shorts on top of fishnet stocking.
Mental Description: Tsukane Chi is quite shy and unsocial. She usually stays in the background of things and purposelessly tends to avoid interaction, in contradiction to her true desires of wishing to interact with others and make friends. Her awkward and quiet behaviour prevents this and although Chi wouldn't mind a bit of time alone, she prefers company above solitude.
This social awkwardness stems from a distant relationship with her parents who, despite not being bad people, didn’t interact much with their child. Not having the best of examples on terms of socialising, there wasn’t much room for improvement in her social skills. Getting used to a life of solitude as she grew up, she would mostly practice throwing shuriken by herself, sleep away the days or daze off. Because of this, not only has Chi acquired the habit of daydreaming, but she has also grown ignorant to the idea of affection and compassion.
Other than not enjoying the spotlight, Chi doesn't enjoy being picked on or bullied, mostly because she knows she wouldn't be able to defend herself as well as she wants to. She finds it difficult to stand up for others let alone herself and wouldn't know what to do in an aggravating situation. To put it simple; the negative side of Chi's personality is that of an unhealthy form of pacifism.
Despite the aloof and distant traits, Chi possesses other positive attributes such as a surprisingly great passion for training and collecting throwing weapons. Essentially, she will find herself withdrawing from any group or social circle just to spend her time playing with small shuriken. In rare cases, she unawarely shows off her skills with her favourite weapons.
When she does bond with someone, she will gladly do so. This is visible by the boost in her confidence and the precise smile she offers when around said friend. Lacking confidence and somewhat afraid to be considered a pariah, she is unfortunately susceptible to those who would exploit her trust. And most of the time, she allows them to.
History: There's nothing extremely major about Chi's history. While it mostly consisted of boring, lonely years and little to no entertainment. She was born in a rather poor household in Sungakure as her parents carried out several tasks and took on various jobs, not always of the noble sort. Anything just to make ends meet. Their unsavoury practices weren’t really kept a secret from Chi either. In fact, she grew up understanding and not as resentful as her parents thought she would be. However, the older she became, the more she suffered from her parents’ lifestyle and unwillingly dissociated herself from them. Helplessly, she saw how her parents and her grew distant.
Luckily, her uncle was the only family she could communicate with, without risking an awkward conversation. He spent most of his time reading stories and books to Chi that she couldn't exactly comprehend at her young age. Stories difficult to understand and not overly exciting either. Historical books, always holding small details or objects which interested Chi. Descriptions of animals such as the sand worms of Suna piqued her interest excessively, absorbing her into its fantastic world and encouraging the idea of exploring the deadly desert of which her uncle always told her about.
Having set her mind, she eventually started reading about the different methods and combat styles of a shinobi, the ways of a medic, the different types of weapons. While she skimmed through most of the pages about physical and taijutsu techniques, she found herself accumulating a mass of information on the handling of ninja weapons, specifically the giant shuriken. She got into the bizarre hobby of cleaning weapons that her parents left unguarded sometimes, and when her uncle noticed this, he decided to take on the role as her tutor, training her by himself.
So began her training as a shinobi and future explorer of the past.
