Hakuso is relatively average for a 14 year-old, probably even a bit smaller than average. He has blonde hair and blue eyes, characteristics of the Chikamatsu side of his bloodline. Coming from a rich family, he wears a large formal traditional kimono, complete with floral patterns all over it. Of the floral patterns, the predominant shape is a flower with six petals, similar to that of the Chikamatsu crest, but is orange instead. There are also lines seemingly embedded into the shape, making the flower look rather artificial - like the seams of a puppet. This is actually the crest of this particular branch of the Taisen, the one formed from the union of the Monzaemon and Taisen.
Beneath the kimono/cloak is the usual shinobi gear, suitable for an academy student. He also tends to carry a carrier case, wrapped within a shroud, on his back. This case holds his puppet.

Hakuso is generally a nice person, however his determination to succeed may lead him to put his goals before anything else. This has yet to really happen, but signs are there. Ever since he has really been able to mold chakra, he had at many times forget to even stop. This included being so engrossed in his studies that he forgets anything else - eating, sleeping, even his family. At the age of 14, the propensity to prove himself may even cause him to be a bit ruthless at times.

Taisen Hakusō (also referred to by common-folk as just 'Hakuso') was born from the interminglings of many different bloodlines, of note are the Monzaemon and Chikamatsu (ironically, Chikamatsu is the first name of some of the more legendary Monzaemons). Since ages bygone, the Monzaemon already had the concept of promoting interbreeding with other clans, to expand the genetic diversity of the Monzaemons and hence their capabilities. Oftentimes this result in the expansion of the Monzaemon clan, for unlike the Monzaemon clan, many others would rather to remain purebred. Sometimes though, other clans are just as accepting, and are willing to allow Monzaemon blood to flow through their names.
Somewhere along the way, a Monzaemon had married a Taisen - a branch clan of the Yamanaka, and thus Monzaemon and Yamanaka blood intermixed - probably not for the first time though, and definitely not for the last. The puppeteering techniques of the Monzaemon, and the affinity for Genjutsu of the Taisen never really mixed too well however, the pressure for the progeny to make something out of the combination never quite happened.
It was not until one of the descendants of this union married a Chikamatsu, that something significant might finally have been produced, in the form of Hakuso. The Chikamatsu is a well-known clan in Sunagakure, especially for their medical affinities, and the amazing powers that their Seal of the Yurei Orchid grant to the Orchid's Overseer.
Originally, Hakuso was born rather frail and weak - a likely product of the Chikamatsu and Taisen traits, which had both previously known to produce smaller, weaker bodies in their progeny. Although the rest of his family were shinobi, they did not have much faith that Hakuso would amount to much. This was even when Hakuso had tried his best to show any signs at all that he was of use. Hakuso had studied up on all of his ancestry, tried everything - from simple puppeteering techniques, to the lowest ranked Genjutsu. Nothing worked however, not even with all the extra tutoring he was offered. The Taisen family was wealthy, with a mansion near the heart of Sunagakure, and plenty of servants to boot. So they had no problems with hiring the best of the best, but to no avail. Hakuso was just too weak to even attempt the academy.
All this, was until he turned 12. On his birthday, Hakuso began to transform - as if something within him awakened. Of course, it is probably apparent by now that his bloodlines had finally truly started triggering. Within two years, his body had became much less fragile - although more like to the point of his average peers, than beyond them. He had picked up on the Monzaemon's capability for puppeteering very quickly, and his Yamanaka bloodline powers were blossoming - much like an orchid. Not that he is likely to ever inherit the Seal of the Yurei Orchid, unlikely to ever become the next seer. He is not even a Chikamatsu, not by name.
Now that his abilities has started to show, and he has grown strong enough physically, Hakuso is finally able to attend the academy. Whether or not he will develop as fast as he expects is still unknown however. While his puppeteering is impressive, his Genjutsu is still very basic, and his other skills are even more so.
One thing is of certain however - all of his various membership clans is interested in him. The Monzaemon wants to see how far he can push his puppeteering, perhaps with the aid of Genjutsu that can even further muddle his opponent’s senses. His Taisen side just wants him to prove his mastery over the Yamanaka bloodline abilities, and see if he can push its activation even faster, and further. His Chikamatsu side lastly just wants to see his new and improved self gear more towards the acquisition of knowledge, and perhaps applying it medically. After all, now that he is significantly stronger, he should be able to progress well as a Mednin - combined with his ability to intensely focus on learning.
Hakuso sort of... worries more about how the current events will affect him. He wants to prove himself in the academy, and sees the push to migrate above ground by the Sand-nin as a clean slate for him and everyone else, allowing him to begin at the same point as others.
