Name: Uchiha Kei (慶 )
Age: 12
Physical Description:
Kei; a youth sporting a dark tanned complexion and a stature and build falling into the most average of percentiles. His body is not overly slender nor muscular, but instead displays a healthy toned quality; one which suggests he is not one that neglects his physical training. Upon entering the academy, he stands about one-hundred and fifty-two centimeters, just under fifty kilograms in weight.
Like traditional Uchiha, he sports black hair and black eyes. The two bangs that hang down and frame his face are colored, going from a hard and sudden transition from black to red and then white, which travels all the way to the bangs’ tips. His facial features have no trouble projecting a friendly, non-threatening air. To an acute eye, Kei seems well-accustomed to hiding and perhaps outing his emotions.
Mental Description:
Kei approaches most with a favorable disposition. Growing up, he always proved to be a very sweet child and such a nature persisted through the years. There is a slight air of guiability that encompasses him, but hardly is he unaware of such a fault. Even now, he attempts to question all he sees and hears from others. This makes him a tad-bit untrusting, which he does with a smile.
Janus-faced to a degree, most know him for the side harbouring countless smiles. The other is an accumulation of past traumas that result in and overall fear towards going to sleep and a deep-rooted melancholy. The underlying gloom makes it difficult for him to spout anything more than pleasantries and form any meaningful bond or connection. Within, like a smoldering coal, a deep ire burns within the benighted depths of his psyche. Thought to be too gentle to enter the world of shinobi, it appears that it is this in which he draws from when he is tasked with inflicting harm onto others.
History/Bloodline Application:
Kei is the second-born of two children, born into the minor family; son of the wedded Uchiha Kaede and Itsuki.
Itsuki, the husband and father, proved a proud member of his clan, wielder of the clan’s pride and joy, the Sharingan. Being the father of two children, he acted as what he felt to be an ideal example of what his firstborn should strive for. Kei’s to-be older brother, Jun’ichi, had great admiration for his parents; both skilled shinobi of the Hidden Leaf Village.
A flux of his upbringing and parental influence succeeded in lighting a vivid flame of motivation within Jun’ichi and coupled with his apparent inborn talent, there was no doubt the ostensible prodigy would go far as a to-be shinobi. His at-home tutoring was met with rapid progression and yielded great promise for a future in the field.
Kei was born four years after his older brother came into the world. The theft of attention that many older siblings feel as the younger is born was felt by Jun’ichi. As endearing as the situation can be, it left a bitter aftertaste within him when it came to his younger sibling. Hatred proved too strong a word; but certainly, he felt a certain apathy when it came to Kei.
Jun’ichi wished for the ability to show up all of his ninja academy classmates. He desired to attain any advantage he could. Having astonishingly attained his Sharingan around the age of eight, he wished to exercise it at any opportunity that he could. In his mind, not only would he impress his classmates and teacher, but surely he would further impress his parents if he became skilled at utilizing the gifts his eyes bestowed. A sharp kid, he came up with the idea of taking advantage of the fact both him and his brother shared the same bedroom.
Kei was only four years old at the time. His obliviousness was obvious even to his older brother of eight. He knew little of his own clan and focus shifted back to Jun’ichi after the appearance of his Sharingan. So, every night or at least every other night, Jun’ichi wished his younger brother a goodnight before attempting to ensnare him in an illusionary technique. Being tired and always being near slipping into slumber, whatever effects Jun’ichi inflicted upon him was either forgotten or thought to have been just a strange dream and eventually, just a nightmare.
It began as any would expect it to. Shaky genjutsu that did not take for lack of experience and practice; but practice was exactly what he was doing with every nightly attempt. It was not long before he improved. Improvement meant more fun. Teasing his younger brother in what he thought to be dreams and eventually nightmares became nigh therapeutic; especially since despite his various class triumphs, Kei was stealing most of his parents’ attention as he grew increasingly needy - a result of his brother’s selfish practice sessions.
This neediness was only quelled through consolation and seemingly, Jun’ichi cared not. He knew Kei to be lacking in spine and ability. Those thoughts were irksome to the young genius Uchiha. Soon, he felt elation at the fact that he would be one of the few that graduate from the academy early when it became apparent. At the age of ten years old, he became a Genin.
“Congratulations!” Kei was the first to congratulate him after Jun’ichi returned home. He felt such love for his brother, after all, for he would attempt to usher him into a restful sleep by staying by his side or using the hypnosis he acquired from his eyes to help him sleep when he grew fearful of doing so, anticipating nightmares if he did. It was, of course, all an act by Jun’ichi; so, the congratulations took him by surprise. He played it off and thanked Kei, but he still had a distaste for him. He despised his attention-seeking nature, apparent cowardice and lack of talent in regards to the shinobi arts. To Jun’ichi, he was just a useful tool to develop his bloodline limit.
However, secrets don’t always remain secrets. When suspicion grew around Jun’ichi and it was ultimately found out that he had been using his younger brother to practice his nightmarish genjutsu on. This shattered the family. His father took to his side. He saw the motivation, the drive, the favourable results while his mother could not accept the actions of her son nor her husband finding no fault in them outside of him having been found out out of sloppiness.
Kei was left with eyes lacking any light within them, pools of hopeless black, when he initially found out. All of the shouting that ensued appeared muffled as if his ears were clogged. Since then, life for the child became a timeless blur until he began to come to terms to not only what happened, but what was currently happening. They no longer lived together. Jun’ichi lived with his father while he lived with his mother. It was an adjustment that was never quite made - but soon it was his turn to enroll within the academy.
