Name: Uchiha Maikeru
Age: 13
Physical Description: Maikeru is an average height child for his age, having never quite hit his growth spurt. He is never seen not wearing his Uchiha crest somewhere on his clothing. Whether it be as a symbol on his shirts, or a necklace that was given to him by his little sister, he is always seen showing some form of pride for his clan.
His build is pretty average, though slightly on the scrawnier side, his muscles being more lean rather than a build similar to someone who focuses on honing their physical prowess. His hair is on the medium side in length, with two long bangs that frame his face. His jaw is angular and strong, a typical trait seen in Uchiha men, which leads to many of the older woman in the clan and village saying he’s ‘going to turn into a handsome young man for sure!’. He has dark eyes like the rest of his clan, though they seem to hold a tired nature behind them.
Mental Description: Prideful is probably the most apt description of Maikeru. He is from the famed Uchiha clan, and he is very, very aware of that fact. More than that though, he is a leaf shinobi, and that is something he holds in high esteem. His lineage has fostered in himself a prideful, and impulsive nature. There are few enemies he finds stronger than himself, despite whatever overwhelming evidence that may present itself.
This facet of his personality has made him both bold and impulsive, often rushing into battles that he has no business being in. That is not to say he doesn’t have a softer side to him. Maikeru has a kind heart, and is often rather gentle with those he finds his allies. He values all life, which is why he tends towards genjutsu rather than doing physical damage to foes.
History: Maikeru was born into the Uchiha clan of Konoha thirteen years ago. His family comes from a far branch of the family, meaning that he will probably never end up in a position of power inside of his clan, which is something he has long accepted. Despite that, he always tried his best to make his family, and his clan proud of his progress as a shinobi, and as a person.
Maikeru’s family was small, consisting of his Father and Mother, Akira Uchiha and Makoto Tanaka respectively, and his little sister, Tsubaki Uchiha. Though the family was small, they were very close. Both of his parents were shinobi, and upon their first child's birth, decided to go down the teaching route at the academy, allowing them to spend more time raising young Maikeru.
His specific family line, however, held some issues. Both of his parents were not Uchiha, and more than that, held some genetic issues within their blood. His mother, who came from a minor clan that held no kekkei genkei or hidden techniques, came from a family with a very major congenital heart defect. Luckily for Maikeru, this heart defect did not present in himself. His sister, however, was not so lucky.
His younger years were mostly spent helping care for his sister, as she idolized him as little siblings are like to do. He never minded, as he loved his sister dearly, and would have done anything to ease her suffering even a little bit. Watching this secretly broke his parents hearts, and they always viewed themselves as failures for forcing such a burden onto their young son.
When he wasn’t caring for his sister, he was usually training his body and mind in preparation for joining the academy. He had a knack for ninjutsu, especially the Uchiha clan’s fire ninjutsu, but, more specifically, it seemed his talent lied in genjutsu. Although he has yet to master a jutsu, he shows great talent at the fundamentals, and his father has commented that he was a shoe in for unlocking the Uchiha kekkei genkei someday.
Bloodline Application: The day that Maikeru unlocked his Sharingan wasn’t overly exceptional. At least, not from the tales he had heard from others how theirs had manifested. However, it was a day he will never be able forget for as long as he lives. It is a day that will be etched into his memory, and haunt his dreams until the day he dies.
The day started as every day did, he woke up, made sure his sister had her medicine, and would read to her, or play what games they could in her weakened state, until his parents got home from work. Something about this day was different, however. He couldn’t tell you the exact moment that he noticed, all he knew was that Tsubaki was much, much weaker than usual.
“Big brother..” She said to him, interrupting his thousandth rereading of her favorite story, “Big brother.. I want to see the flowers..”
It was spring, and the Sakura trees were in full bloom. When they were younger, and she was capable of moving around on her own, they would often spend entire days at the rivers of Konoha, just watching the blossoms fall in the wind.
“Yea..” He replied to her, donning his best fake smile. “Let’s take you to see the flowers, I don’t think mom and dad will mind a small trip.”
In the back of his mind, he believes he always knew what this trip meant. As he carried her on his back towards their favorite spot, it all seemed to be going in slow motion. Her grip on his shoulders was so weak, as if all power had left her tiny muscles. As he held her in his lap, supporting her body, he could feel her growing limper, and limper, and it was everything he could do to fight back the tears welling in his eyes. He had to be strong, for Tsubaki.
“Big brother, the flowers.. They’re so pretty.” She said, giving him a weak smile.
“Yea Tsubaki, they are. You always liked the flowers, didn’t you? After all, you’re named after one.”
“Yea..” As she spoke, Maikeru watched as her eyes grew smaller, and smaller, her eyelids becoming weaker and weaker. “I’m gonna rest my eyes big bro.. I’m so tired..”
As her eyes closed, and she died in Maikeru’s arms, he cried. He cried for a long time, heaving, and sobbing, his vision blurry and his body weak. When the tear slowed, and he was able to see his reflection in the lake, was when he realized the gift that Tsubaki had left him. His eyes had changed, they were a deep, crimson red, with a single tomoe sitting present in the left corner of them. Though tears streamed his face, he managed to stand, carrying his sisters lifeless body in his arms.
The sharingan she had left him was a gift, a message from Tsubaki. He would use these eyes, this gift, to protect those he cared about. He would make sure he never had to hold someone he cared about while they died again. He would use his eyes to show his sister the majesty of this world, he would be a protector.
