Age: 13
Physical Description:
Mirei's most striking physical characteristic is her pink-ish orange hair, an extremely light shade which sticks out like the proverbial sore thumb amidst the usually raven-haired members of the Uchiha clan: she actually takes it from her mother, whose hair and facial structure is almost identical to Mirei's own. Her amber eyes, on the other hand, come from her father, although only the right one is visible due to an accident that befell her when she was a small child, forcing her to cover her left one for the rest of her life. Another notable physical trait of hers has already manifested, in spite of her young age: she has really long and shapely legs, with hips to match. As she grows up this will be accompanied by her chest also expanding to remarkable size: all in all, she can be considered a real beauty, a fact she's well aware of, her mother having drilled into her head since young age that her feminine charms are another weapon she can make use of as a shinobi. Her choice of clothes is in fact designed to emphasize the perfect shape of her body without being overtly revealing: another lesson her mother taught her is that a sharply-dressed woman is going to look just as gorgeous as a scantly-clad one, but without the risk of coming off as slutty. Purple is her favorite color and is prominently seen in most of her outfits, usually paired with black, white, and gold.
Mental Description:
Being the first born of a rather traditionalist family, Mirei does her best to live up to the expectations of her parents, working as hard as she can to be both a deadly shinobi and a perfectly mannered, prim and proper lady, in accordance with the Japanese concept of yamato nadeshiko. The issue with this is that Mirei has a rather fiery, explosive temper, which she struggles to keep in check: she can't stand hypocrites, and people who make small talk and take forever to get to the point greatly irritate her, so the longer she's forced to interact with such individuals, the stronger the temptation within her will grow to just raze the area with a fireball and be done with it. Being significantly kinder and more level-headed, her younger sister often has to help her rein in this side of hers. Her temperament really is befitting of her preference for the Fire element, as her anger is quick to flare up and just as quick to burn out: triggering her shouting and fireball throwing is very easy, but calming her down with flattery or the promise of sweets (she LOVES sweets) is just as easy, and seconds after yelling at you she will be all smiles and flirty eyelashes-batting again: holding grudges is something she just doesn't do.
Mirei is extremely serious about her studies, and likes to flaunt her knowledge and smarts: this may cause her to come off as obnoxious, although in truth she's not trying to show off nor to demean others, she just wants to prove her worth by using to their fullest all the tools she has obtained. She's very single-minded when she decides to put effort into something, which on the one hand makes her very determined in pursuing success, but on the other hand will sometimes cause her to fail to properly consider the bigger picture.
Oh, and she loves stuffed animals. You want to make a friend for life, just give her a stuffed animal.
History:
(IMPORTANT PREMISE: my goal here is to create a character who skips the academy student portion and starts straight as Genin, and this section will be written accordingly. My reason for wanting to do this is very simple: I am 30 years old, and as such I feel very uncomfortable roleplaying as a small child. A teenager I can put up with, but a child is something I'd rather avoid if at all possible.)
Mirei is a member of the Uchiha clan, daughter of Uchiha Suichiro, a cousin of the family, and Urameshi Kotori, a kunoichi of the ANBU squad. Mirei's birth wasn't really planned, and in fact the marriage was a result of that pregnancy, rather than the other way around: this is the reason why both of her parents are still rather youthful and very much active in their respective fields. See, Suichiro is a diplomat, a man involved in the handling of both the relationships between the Uchiha clan and the village of Konoha, and the foreign affairs with other major villages: one night, as he was returning from an important mission in Suna, his delegation was attacked by a band of nukenin, whose goal was to sabotage the diplomatic negotiations between the two villages; this resulted in a fierce battle between the nukenin and the ANBU squad that formed the delegation's escort, and in the end Suichiro and Kotori ended up being the only two survivors. The "happy to be alive" adrenaline discharge got the better of them and, suffices to say, nine months later Mirei was born. A common rumor told in Konoha to make fun of Suichiro is that he got his Mangekyou Sharingan when Kotori stormed the Uchiha's ancestral residence and, right in front of the entire clan, announced she was pregnant and demanded Suichiro takes responsibility.
Despite this rocky start, the two managed to build an overall happy, if a bit strict, family environment for their daughter to grow up in: from her father Mirei learned to put a lot of effort into studying and accumulating knowledge, so as to be able to properly evaluate every situation. From her mother she got her headstrong personality as well as her penchant for acting as "magical artillery" in battle, throwing around big scary ninjutsu rather than fists: the difference between mother and daughter is, of course, that Kotori specializes in Water and Electricity, while Mirei, as expected from a Uchiha, prefers Fire. Mirei's early life was mostly about learning the basics from her parents, who were always very busy but would try their best to make time to spend with her: first with cleverly planned games and then with proper training, the two showed her the ropes. Eventually, when Mirei was 5, they also gave her a younger sister, by the name of Mizuki: this kind, affectionate, lovable sweetheart grew up greatly admiring her beloved onee-sama, who in turn took her responsibility as the elder sister very seriously: to this day the two share a very close bond, and spend most of their free time together.
Naturaly, as soon as she hit the right age Mirei was off to Ninja Academy: nobody in the family, not even Mirei herself, had ever so much as doubted that she would be a shinobi just like her parents. Between the stuff she already knew from her parents and the serious effort she put in her studies, her academy years were both successful and uneventful: something major did happen, but it had nothing to do with the academy (see the Bloodline section below). When it came to the exam to be recognized as Genin, the written part was a breeze, with none of the 9 questions posing any trouble for her at all: the second phase was mostly made tricky by her attitude, as her temper made it difficult to properly get along with her teammates; still, thanks to a very down-to-heart companion, she and the third member, who had been at each other's throat for a while, managed to overcome their differences and work together to success. In the combat phase Mirei made it to top 4, being bested in the semifinal by a taijutsu specialist who was able to rush her down before she could complete the still somewhat clumsy seals for her techniques. Naturally she threw a tantrum about it, and that was one of the two things her instructors warned her against as they granted her the promotion: the other thing they pointed out was that her exceptional knowledge, paired with her single-minded attitude, was paradoxically becoming a weakness for her. After all, a shinobi is going to partake in all manners of real missions and battles, and in those you cannot always do things by the book: the truly good ninja is the one who knows when to NOT follow the established path and think outside the box, in order to find the most effective solution even if it's not always the most orthodox. As she begins her career as a Genin, Mirei will need to work on this issue of hers.
Bloodline
As a member of the Uchiha clan, Mirei has within her the potential to awaken the infamous Sharingan. One evening after returning from the academy, back when she was 9, Mirei went with her mom to train near the edge of the forest just outside of the village. Mizuki, who was 4 at the time, for some reason decided that she wanted to watch them train: she snuck out of the house to follow them, but got lost in the forest and ended up being attacked by a wild boar. Thankfully Mirei and Kotori weren't far and, having heard her screams, they came to her rescue: losing her cool due to her sister being in danger, however, Mirei rushed ahead of her mother and tried to attack the beast, ending up with a serious eye injury for her trouble.
For not completely understood reasons, the stress of the accident paired with the pain of the injury caused an incomplete version of her Sharingan to manifest in Mirei's damaged left eye: this didn't grant Mirei any actual Sharingan-related powers (and indeed, I plan for this to be a merely cosmetic thing, I do want to have her obtain the Sharingan normally later on, per the site's rules), all it did was cause her intermittent pains in the left eye, while also making said eye look rather ugly and deformed. Growing both rather inconvenienced and extremely self-conscious because of the situation, Mirei eventually decided to wear an eyepatch over the injured eye, in turn covering the eyepatch with a bang of her hair. Little did she know at the time, that this forced asymmetry would remain with her for the rest of her life.
