Kenji has spiky blonde hair and blue eyes. His current outfit consists of semi-loose fitting black pants, and a sleeveless white vest. Both of his arms are covered with wrappings and on his left arm resides a flame-like tattoo surrounded by a circle with strange inscriptions. However, usually his attire is covered by a black cloak he wears.
The Hurricane of Kumogakure:

Kenji was give his nickname by his Sensei Guren. He was given the name for his likeness to the oceanic storm. To those within the "eye" of the storm, the storm can almost seem beautiful but to those who understand the true nature of the storm, they know how dangerous it can be.
The nickname was also given to him as a result of his unique gift. The ability of manipulating both fire and lightning. Although he isn't exactly sure how the ability came about, he suspects it came from his mother's family. As his father was a member of the Haku clan and was only dual natured in Futon and Suiton.

To most Kenji would seem to be hyperactive, immature, arrogant, ignorant, carefree, and downright childish. However, this “side†of Kenji is simply an act he puts up to fool those around him. Very few people know his true self but when he opens up to someone he becomes extremely attached.
In reality Kenji is precise, intelligent, and determined. He is a true warrior and an expert tactician who will stop at nothing to defend the things which are precious to him. He is an expert in control, especially of himself and his own emotions. His unique talent is what allows him to act as he does and make it seem so real.
However, he never abuses this talent and is bound by his code of honor to do what he sees as right. He is always honest and hardworking, for Kenji to give up is worse than facing death itself. Kenji is also an extremely loyal person, whose first priority is his home, Kumogakure.
What allows Kenji to maintain such dramatic control over his self, is his will itself. His Sensei once remarked that for one to truly kill Kenji he would have to rip out his soul first. By sheer will power Kenji is able to maintain nearly absolute control over his own emotions and is able to manipulate them to his need.
Although, there are some emotions Kenji cannot control, one is the fear of loss. Through out his life he lost several people he has cared for and these constant losses have taken a plague on Kenji's otherwise solid persona.
He does not let this fear get in the way of his relationship's however. While they do leave him vulnerable, he doesn’t care. He forms bonds with those who he deems worthy and once that bond is formed he will fight to protect it.
This need for bonds and fear of loss is what makes up Kenji’s greatest strength but also is largest weakness. But it is the one emotion he does not mind letting burn freely. For him, this need for attachment gives him a reason to protect those he loves and to grow stronger.
Kenji's rather intriguing persona stems from his many life experiences. From the death of his parents to the training of Guren his life has shaped his persona in interesting ways.

The goals Kenji has set for himself vary but they all seem to revolve around one axis: Kumogakure. Kenji wishes to serve his village to the best of his ability and protect all of those who inhabit it. He believes the best way to accomplish this goal is to become an ANBU, a defender of the village.
In order to defend the village Kenji believes that he must master his elements. He intends to master all fire and lightning based jutsu. He believes by mastering his elemental natures that he can become a truly potent warrior.
For Kenji, to master the elements is also to craft them in his own unique way. Thus he plans to create his own unique jutsu. Kenji has already put large amounts of study into it’s creation but has yet to actually begin crafting it.
The drive behind all of these goals however, is Kenji’s desire to protect those precious to him. He is willing to die for his friends and his village and to him, their well being is paramount. Kenji’s goals can be summed up in totality by a statement his father made to him when he was younger.
“For a true shinobi, all that is important lies within your village. Within it’s walls rest your friends, your family, and your honor. To protect ones village is the ultimate act one can perform.†– Unkei Karai
The Unkei Chronicles:

Kenji Unkei was born in The Village of Kumo to a very respected family. His father, Karai Unkei, was an ANBU member along with his mother, both had been masterful shinobi. They were extremely loyal to Kumo and their loyalty rubbed of on Kenji as he grew up. As soon as Kenji was old enough to walk and talk, his mother trained him in the arts of the shinobi. And by the age of 6 he was well versed in the shinobi lifestyle and what it meant. At this point in his life Kenji was a free spirit. While he knew he wanted to be a shinobi, he slacked off on his training in order to have fun with his friends. However, this was about to change.
Shortly after his seventh birthday, Kenji's home was attacked by Konoha shinobi. Though his father tried to fend them off he was killed. As the enemy shinobi were preparing to kill his mother, Kenji stepped in and tried to protect her, to no avail however. Kenji was struck by a fire jutsu which permanently scarred both of his arms and nearly cost him his life. As the ANBU arrived they had managed to fatally wound one of the assassins forcing the man to use a sealing jutsu upon Kenji. The jutsu effectively sealed the man’s soul within one of the newly inflicted scars upon Kenji’s left arm. After forcing the remaining assassins to flee, the ANBU rushed the boy to the hospital as he was at the point of death.
Kenji remained unconscious for several weeks as he fought for his life. The jutsu that had been used had burnt a large portion of his body and the heat of the attack had caused heavy internal damage as well. However, thanks to Kumogakure’s expert staff he had managed to survive.
As he sat in his room Kenji grew extremely depressed over the death of his parents. However, the depression soon turned to thoughts of anger and revenge. His emotions raged in his head as thought of how he may avenge his parents. But he soon realized that was not the path his parents would want him to follow. He was not going to let anger and hate drive him, he would not allow his parents teachings to go on in vain. Instead, on that day Kenji decided he would train not to avenge his parents but that he would train to serve his village.
When Kenji was finally released from the hospital, he left Kumo to train in the famous mountain ranges of the Lightning Country. As he journeyed through the mountain side he met various people of different shinobi styles. It was soon after his training began that he met a rather strange monk named Shipuu Guren. After meeting the young Kenji Unkei, Guren took him in as his subordinate.
During his training, Kenji grew extremely close to Guren. He looked at him as father figure to replace the one he had lost. Guren had no problem taking this role either, as he looked at Kenji as he would his own son.
There relationship hit it's peak when Guren gave Kenji his title, The Hurricane of Kumogakure. By this time Kenji's chakra had began to mature into it's true form, his dual nature. This was also the time that Kenji began to become who he is today.
Guren as a sign of honor and love gave Kenji a necklace, that usually only belonged to the head of Shipuu Setsu. The necklace was made of a strange blue crystal, Guren had told him that the necklace held a piece of chakra from all the previous head priests, including himself.
The two continued their training in the Shipuu Setsu Monastery for nearly three years. Under Guren’s guidance Kenji learned how to channel his emotions in to his goals thus giving birth to the True Kenji Unkei. After his “spiritual rebirth†Kenji was now more determined than ever to achieve his goals. It was shortly after this event that Kenji learned of his close relationship with fire and Lightning.
As he was training with the head priest of Shipuu Setsu while Guren was away on business, the monk gave Kenji a small piece of paper and told him to channel his chakra into it. As his chakra filled the material it mysteriously crumpled and than began to burn, thus revealing Kenji’s rare relationship with Fire and Lightning .
After returning to the temple, Guren took Kenji into the mountains to train. Guren warned Kenji of the harshness of the training but Kenji eagerly accepted the challenge. As they entered the foot hills, Kenji’s training ranged from learning tactics to the basics of chakra control. The training was rigorous and constantly tried the two.
Another 2 1/2 years passed as the two traveled together in the mountains of the Lightning Country. As the two were preparing to return to Kumo, A strange flame-like tattoo manifested itself out of one of his many scars on his left arm. Shortly after Kenji lost consciousness and when he awoke Guren was severely injured and the tattoo had disappeared. Kenji and the injured Guren then traveled to Shipuu Setsu where Guren died a few days later. It was here he learned of the curse which had been placed on him by the man who had killed his parents.
Kaibou, the head priest had been briefed on the situation by Guren before he had died. In order to prevent the curse from releasing again, he instructed the council of the monastery to begin setting up a sealing ritual. After a rigorous process the elders managed to place a special seal upon Kenji’s left arm which restricted the curse.
After the sealing and Guren's burial, the council members met and summoned Kenji to the chamber. After a long education on the nature of his seal, the council members asked Kenji to return the necklace that Guren had given him during their training. Although Kenji was upset, he turned it over, if only for the reason that he intended to get it back later.
Kenji then decided that he would stay in the mountains for six more months alone to train. As he ascended the mountains the weather became more and more unstable and intense. Giant snow storms constantly tried his survival skills and to make it worse the area was prone to massive rock slides. After six months in the hostile environment Kenji finally descended the mountains and returned to Kumo where he enrolled in the academy..
The Return Arch

After returning to Kumo, Kenji decides that he will visit the graves of his parent's which fortunately, rest near the village gates. As he makes his way to the grave site, he runs into a fellow academy student named Tsuyoshi. After a quick exchange of words, three more shinobi arrived on the scene. When what seemed to be an attack on an ANBU by a Genin, Kenji drew his weapon as a precaution, only to be abruptly stopped by one of the new shinobi, a Santaru named Ryuuto.
Shortly after a tense standoff ensued nearly resulting in a fight between Kenji and the Santaru, but it was stopped by the ANBU who had been attacked earlier. After numerous taunts and insults by the Santaru, Kenji offered the Santaru a mental challenge. He then introduced himself to the new shinobi, but shortly after he was forced to leave, as to meet with his uncle.
Once he met with his uncle and his records had been updated, Kenji then left his uncle’s abode in order to head to the academy with his newly restored status as a citizen of Kumo.
The Release Arch

Shortly after leaving his uncles home, Kenji is on the way to the shop to pick up some equipment. As he travels he meets a boy named Mijuku Ebi and a girl named Kitsune Shinrya. Although the girl seems to be slightly distant, he and the boy instantly connect. deciding to test the boy's strength Kenji challenges the boy to a spar. After a short match, Kenji emerges as the victor by nothing more than sheer luck. The three then decided to stop at a near by ramen restaurant.
While the group eats, a small boy appears, and mysteriously enough challenges Mijuku and Kenji to duel. The two accept, however both are uneasy as the fight begins. The boy easily dodges the two's attacks and launches one of his own, a lightning jutsu. The attack nails Kenji dead on, resulting in a near fatal blow.
He seems to be phased by the attack, however, at first their appears to be little physical damage. But despite the fact, Kenji still seems unnerved. After thinking the situation through Kenji arrives at the conclusion that the boy was a fake, and was actually none other than Santaru Ryuuto.
Although unsympathetic at first, Ryuuto offers his service to escort Kenji to the villages hospital. Kenji agrees but makes an unusual request, he wants to be observed by a Hyuuga or Uchiha. The group then makes it's way to the hospital, and upon arriving they are immediately put into a room.
