Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

latest

His attire and wardrobe has not changed much since his days of youth, adopting minor cosmetic additions such as his clothing showcasing the emblem of his clan and sporting a village headband. Other changes include the fact that he carries a large scroll across his back that is marred in earth toned hues. If situations arise where it is required, he will wear his villages flak jacket though never footwear.

Character's Mental Description:
He has grown up, for simple words from the devient he was as a child. Having a more structured opinion and outlook of the shinobi world and developing his own understandings and convictions on what it means to be loyal. This was mainly attributed to his travels and although he is capable of being aggressive, he has developed restraint and a mindset to fully look a sitation over.

Character History:

Oyochi was born into The Yukata Family, esteemed for their prowess as Strategists and Genjutsu specialists. His birth like any other was an anxious occasion, mainly because his mother and father had already been raising a son named Souji who was already establishing his name within the village and showing the kind of stock the Yukata family could provide to the village in terms of viable shinobi. With an uphill battle already pre-conceived, Oyochi's birth was something looked forwards to by his mother and father to determine just how this child would be and like their firstborn bring some shining lights onto the family as a whole. This however was not the fruits that his birth would give as unlike his sibling or many if any children to the Yukata before, Oyochi was born prematurely and close to two months prior to full gestation. There were three key facts that were instantly loomed over the infant Oyochi's head as his mother easily held onto him and his father looked on from a distance; the child would never be physically strong and thanks to the bloodline ability of the [spiritual leader] present that his chakra system was naturally damaged and inferior. As a family that prided itself upon creating reputable shinobi for the village, Oyochi was viewed as something that would never be able to uphold the families standings and as such would not go through the typical lifestyle of a child born into such a surrounding.

While the early years of his life proved to be the most difficult as he spent more time learning how to physically move than other kids his age, he would be left out of many activities that would have provided him a social sense of belonging or nutured the seeds of comradery amongst others. Where as children at these times would be waned slowly into basic shinobi arts in the form of playful games that began to boost their skills such as hide-n-seek, tag, and throwing wooden shuriken toys at various targets, Oyochi spents nearly all this time next to his mother watching instead of participating. It was generally an everyday thing where the children would always wonder who he was from a distance, the ghost white skinned boy who always watched in the company of his mother's watchful eye. Although Oyochi did not have any outside friends that he knew and could develop social bonds with he did not go without someone to talk to at all. Where as he had no friends, Oyochi did fill the gap that being socially alone had created with his brother Souji whom naturally became the foundational pillar to everything Oyochi tried. Around the household where he could wander about without the constant shadow of their Mother's protective gaze, Souji was the one who introduced Oyochi to the different games and things he had been missing out on. While he found that his physical hinderence made playing the guys truly difficult the fact that his brother was patient enough and attentive to his needs sowed seeds of both loyalty and commitment to his brother that would without a doubt play roles in his decisions as he grew up.

There was however another reason as to why Oyochi had not been allowed to interact with other children, a reason that he himself was unaware of but that his parents were completely knowlegable on since his birth. While Oyochi's chakra coil system was incomplete, given his premature status, his chakra was in a constant state of inbalance with an inability to naturally replinish itself like a normal chakra system would. His on the otherhand naturally developed an ability to absorb chakra from those around him to keep his own system running. This is something that was not developed after birth but during his time in the womb as an early survival response to something his body knew was developing wrongly. While originally the amount of chakra he syphoned was so small, thanks to his body size and age had been so small, the closer he progressed towards the pivotal years of puberty the more unstable and consuming did this trait become. It was because of this inhindering ability that Oyochi became marked with the Shadow Touch, unlike his older brother Souji who had been marked due to shown skills of the Yukata. Oyochi was marked solely to control his chakra instability, a fact that would interestingly enough be the only reason his parents decided to induct him into the academy. While there were certain restrictions placed upon Oyochi's advancement, it was readily known that he was only there to learn about chakra control and that the notion that he would actually graduate to shinobi-hood was bleak. Physically he was hampered and with an already natural chakra crippling system, it was generally understood by the family and his academy overseers that when it came to two of the main principles of being a Shinobi (Taijutsu and Ninjutsu) Oyochi would simply fail. While there had been some general hope in the realm of ninjutsu still, this was quickly resolved once he was administered the chakra paper test and it was revealed that ontop of his chakra being difficult to mold it also did not possess any elemental quality.

It would be in these academy years that Oyochi would have to develop a way to prove that he was combat effective else there would be two obvious roads to walk in his future. That he would never be able to leave the families household for the shame of failure and that he could no longer continue to follow his brothers paced footsteps.

Surrounded by darkness, resting upon cushion that was simply out of place for the area in which he lay. Audible sounds were a constant here, as long strands of slime clung to the corridor's walls and ceiling, falling around him in varied time increments. Studded lumps flowed along the bottom of his resting platform, which was suspended by chains embedded into the surrounding walls. Each anchor to the chains however were not visible but instead sunk into the walks, pushing the area outwards and warping the space around it. There was a unique smell to the place, resembling a fragrance of decay and rot, yet equally manifesting aromas of the earth itself. It was within this area that he had remained virtually unmoved, unresponsive to his surroundings save for the black mass flowing from underneath him like sludge. Blackened markings coiled around his midsection, discoloring his pale skin as his form worked to purge the influence from his figure. Tethered to his form, chakra tendrils attached his vitals to the very region which he lay within. Having been unmoved and unresponsive for months, the only way his body maintained it's vitality was by sapping chakra from outside and draining it within his own body unconsciously.

Within the recesses of his mind and soul however, Oyochi's sentience rested upon a ledge with his legs draped over an abyss of darkness. The space covering the vast area above his head resembling storm clouds. These clouds constantly moved in unison, unstopping and unyielding in their manifested purpose. His eyes, glued to the sea of black were without life despite at times diverting their gaze to another location. Even in such a space, Oyochi was not the only sentience that occupied the realm home or a prison depending on the individual perception of where they were. Another stood over his shoulder, the being's appearances mirrored his own to the minute detail with the exception that this specters eyes were reversed in hue.

"How long has time continued to flow yet stagnate since we first entered?"
'Shouldn't you be more concerned about why it is we linger here in the first place?'
"No, that much was something that was answered long ago when I understood what this place was."
'Oh, then do share'
"This is what our purpose has become"
'By that what exactly do you mean? This convolution of nothingness being our purpose still leaves the question unanswered'

His palm would reach outwards, grasping hold of the malleable essence that had served as a platform for both entities to reside upon. Peeling back his palm, he'd dislodge a section of the darkness which pooled within his grasp, draining from his hand like water to rejoin the mass which it was removed from. Their gaze in unison seemed to focus upon watching the black substance, which left no trace of having been upon his palm. This answered his question in a way words would have never been able to, leaving the entity standing over him to cross their arms and refocus their eyesight back to the endless sea of the void.

'So that is how it is..'
"No, it is how we allow it to be"
'Are you saying we've grown complacent?'
"Not only complacent but wholly entrenched in this being our fate"
'To think that before there was no -we- at all, until you understood the truth'
"Sometimes, I still question whether you are truly here or if you are simply a manifestation of my loneliness"
'Regardless of that, the fact is that what I am and what I would of been is latched to you and has been'
"That is why I question why it is we're so easily accepting to this fate"
'I am not sure about that'
"Eh..how so?"
'Our--your body is purging itself of everything, removing those things that you considered to be fulfillments of my abilities. That decision to do so would not have happened if you subscribed to fate'
"....So what does that make us then, if without a subscription to fate the how do we determine our purpose? Why if it wasn't fate that you became apart of me instead of being born alongside me?"
'Is it not clear to you yet...survival'
"....."
'Between the two of our bodies, you were the weakest, yet the instinctual need to survive awoken the nature of your curse.'
"That nature...being a leech"
'No, not a leech, an embodiment of the serpent. Survival by any means, even if it requires you to devour your unborn twin to do so.'
"How can you be so nonchalant about such a dealing that left you without the breath of life?"
'Because though I may not have breathed life, I still live within you as an integrated part of everything you are and will become'
".....Then I think it is time we decide what it is that drives us to move forwards..."
'The answers have always been before our eyes. What is the one thing that we cherish above all else?'
"....Then let us start the journey"
'If we were born to follow the Serpent King, then we will do so in every aspect. Purge everything, relinquish your former skin and develop new scales in their place'
"We'll see to it the rise of the Yukata and the destruction of Souji's resentment"
'No, you will. I will simply watch from within. It is time we become fully one...'
"Agreed"

The entity standing behind him would become enveloped in a veil of darkness, slowly disintegrating into individual manifestations that swirled around his form. Gathering in mass around him, each would be siphoned into his core until nothing remained of the specter that had been present before. Closing his eyes, his body would stand before his eyes opened to reveal a deep crimson hue had taken over.

"As one, we will become his right hand and herald his disdain for them all"

Having come to terms with his existence, his body subconsciously purged the last trace of chakra that had been incorporated into his being. The black sludge finally no longer flowing from his body, as the chakra tethers slowly relinquished their connection. His eyes struggled to open at first though it only took a few seconds for his gaze to open up to the darkness in which he had been lain. Consciously within the real world, he could feel how weak his body had become from remaining in a single position for an extended period of time. Struggling to rise, he'd lower his legs over the platform and step onto the flesh like flooring, feeling the slime lining and muscles of that which he resided within. He remembered then, being placed within the massive body of the ancient Naga which had served as a protectorate of the Yukata temple, remaining beneath the structure, bound to it's role by those generations before. Falling to one knee, he narrowed his eyes slightly before glancing towards his palm.

"I will take from you and become one step closer"

He grasped hold tightly of the interior flesh, his body suddenly enveloping with a dark green veil of chakra that originated from the Naga itself. A product of the serpent king's curse, he was fated to be capable of siphoning chakra from other entities, evolving it's strengths and weakness into his own body. Unlike another individual, the Naga's chakra only consisted of a nature type and as he began to hear the very call of such chakra. Though within the large serpent, he could feel the earth which it resided, entombed within the rock itself. Relinquishing the veil of chakra, he stopped absorbing the Naga's natural chakra and began walking towards the mouth of the creature, his fingertips relaxing as he felt strength returning to his body. The ancient Naga's mouth would open wide as he emerged from within, his palm running against the scales of thr creature's nose after it's jaws had closed. There was a sensation flowing through his body as his bare feet touched against the stone floor, his body adapting to feeling the earth's heartbeat as if it were a sentient body.

"You have protected our landmark for so long, thank you for being a catalyst for my revived purpose. Now you may sleep again"

The palm inscription, the marking bestowed upon all Yukata members, became aglow as the light faded from the creature's eyes. His fingertips running into a simple handseal as seals flowed over the beings body and snaked their way down it's enormous form. Within both of the Naga's eyes, the Yukata clan symbol would appear, locking the guardian in a state of genjutsu hibernation. He'd pat the scales once more before becoming aware of the other individual in the area. The two would lock eyes and though his overseer wore a mask he was fully aware that the two's gaze had met.

"We'll be needing to travel, there are some things that need to be understood"

He'd walk past the masked overseer, who wasted no time in tailing behind Oyochi as they made their way up the winding staircase which coiled out of the pit and into the base of the Yukata's temple.

It had been several days since he and his overseer had arrived upon the Moon Island, and several weeks since they had left Earth Country. Guided here by rumors which turned into truths regarding the land's spiritual nature, it was only natural for Oyochi to arrive seeking that which could give him more answers to his elusive understanding of deities. Having found refuge within a small farming community the duo currently found themselves resting near a tree overlooking the season's harvest and the farmers who tended to it. His teeth pressed into the flesh of a local fruit, biting a chunk out and chewing it calmly while his overseer rested upon a tree branch overhead. He meanwhile found it far more comfortable remaining upon the ground, feeling the earth beneath his toes and hearing the subtle heartbeats of the rock and stone beneath. It was not by random that the two had chosen this region to reside, as there had been chatter amongst the locals in regards to a medium here who could see the ghosts of the past and worked to allow individuals a chance to truly see these specters off. Turning the fruit over in his palm, his gaze adjusted to the right, slightly glancing over his shoulder before speaking towards his overseer.

"I take it you've gathered the required information on the man?"
'Indeed, the locals describe him as a recluse, middle aged man who lingers near one of the nearby ruins'
"And his power, are we certain there are truths to it?"
'That much can only be found out by finding him for ourselves, other than that it is simple word of mouth information towards us'
"You do understand what I plan on doing...right"
'You mean kill him? I understand your motive though what do you gain from actually going through with it'
"It's a strange thing to answer, because the normal response would be power but that is not what I seek. I only seek a means to deal with what Souji was hurt so much by...i've lived fine without power but I have not lived without my brother's happiness."
'You realize what we are going to do will on some level or another cast our village in a negative light though, the very village which our clan and your brother has been apart of for untold generations. Can you truly stay convicted to this?'
"Why are you asking this?"
'I am a Yukata just as much as you are, I am also a member of the villages Anbu. I have a more evolved understanding of being a dark horse, that loyalty to the village at times requires doing things others will see in a negative light. To take on such things you can never have doubt in what you are doing and the end goal to it all. So are you prepared for everything this path and these actions will bring for you to bear?'
"If it means fixing the wrongs in our village, the culture which haunts my brother's progress then I will do anything necessary and shoulder any repercussions."
'.....Seems you are becoming a man after all. It'll be dusk soon, we should prepare.'
"...After tonight there is no going back"

As the twilight scattered across the darkening sky behind Oyochi while he casually strode on a footpath, multiple explosions from the farming village echo'd through the air. His pupils turned to gaze at the distant pillars of smoke and fire, detached emotionally from the operation the Overseer was carrying out. He could hear the screams and sounds of terror from the sudden blackening of the villager's lifestyle, accepting that for those that would be killed were dying to further his own cause and counted them as acceptable losses. Turning his gaze back to the stone ruins not to far from his position, his palms moving to wrap a piece of cloth with a thin metal plating along the front over his forehead. The headband which was inscribed with stone's insignia designated him as an Iwagakure shinobi equally as much as the clothing he had changed into. Motioning through the sparse outcropping of ancient structures, his bare feet could feel the hum of the earth beneath him, sensing the distortion of footsteps though his sight did not pick up their source. There were eyes on him, eyes tracking his every step and he knew they were there because he knew the man he sought was equally as locked upon him. Stopping from his brisk stride, amongst the forest and scattered remnants of ancient structures, Oyochi glanced around before speaking openly.

"I know you are here, I can feel your very heartbeat through the earth and stone."

'And why is it that you have come, why is it that the area echoes with wails and screams?'

"A question you know the answer to at some level, my mission is simple which is to acquire what you possess, a talent that has reached the ears of those who seek to take it."

'You shinobi are all alike, uncaring in your pursuits and doing whatever is required as long as you are compensated. You will not take from me with such greed and malice, such will not be allowed. I see it, I see the ghost of the one tethered to your body haunting you for whatever deed you may have done which cost him his life..'

There was an uneasy silence as Oyochi glanced towards his right, pinpointing the voice he heard and the heartbeat he felt coming from that direction. Placing his palms together, his fingers would be quick to weave a series of handseals before bringing both hands down upon the ground. Large slabs of displaced rock and earth suddenly pushed up from the ground, breaking apart brush and stone which formerly stood firm. Each slab sent a cloud of dust outwards as the sections interlocked to surround the immediate area in a large dome of dirt and rock. Within, as portions of dirt and rock feel to the ground, Oyochi's gaze tracked towards the furthest wall of the dome, forming another handseal causing the earth to change consistency and form a pit of mud beneath the man. Bound by the ground itself, he watched as the man's body faded into view while signs of exhaustion ran over his face.

"If you were a shinobi this wouldn't have been so simple, but fortunately you are not"

'Ho-ow?'

"I can feel your presence, a trait I was able to acquire thanks to a dedicated guardian but that is nothing you will be concerned with.."

Closing the distance the man's chakra would release itself, the blue haze flowing from his body tethering his chakra into Oyochi's body. It was the nature of his chakra vacuum, absorbing chakra from a target of his whim when within range like a leech to a host. Slowly sliding his shoulders out of the Iwagakure flak jacket and sleeve, he would lean in towards the bound man while from behind him the light seemed to fall upon distinct striped pattern markings along his back. His palm motioned outwards, grasping the male's neck in a tight vice as his eyes stared intently.

"You were also wrong about that ghost you see, which only validated why I sought you out. That is not some victim, that is my brother who is just as much a part of me as I am. We are one entity though his soul is not in this vessel. Just as you will be.."

There was a look of horror which he could not describe plastered across the man's face even as he struggled for breath and their chakra became one. He watched the light fade from within the male's eyes as the very last trace of chakra crept from around his body and into Oyochi's. He released his grasp on the now lifeless shell of a body, feeling the immediate effects of taking into his body another foreign chakra which worked to integrate inside him. There was a momentary feeling of weakness as this took place, fragility overcoming his body while chunks of rock broke from the dome sending a low cloud of dust outwards.

Emerging from the tree line, his palm resting calmly against his forehead, Oyochi peered slightly at the rising smoke on further down. The farming village was still asunder within blankets of fire which had spread to the nearby fields. Adjusting his gaze after feeling the sudden steps of another individual who had appeared, he felt his body relax. The Overseer stood nearby, wearing the same iwagakure uniform and headband with the exception that his lower face had been covered up.

'The village is taken care of and I left a few of the children alive so that they can tell whoever it may be what happened here. I take it you also completed you goal.'

"Indeed though my body feels like it'd rather be placed in an eternal rest."

'Either way it will not be long until others arrive to this place and realize what has happened, we should be off. We'll store these outfits and forehead protectors in a scroll once we've cleared the immediate area.'

"Very well...though mind assisting me, my body feels weak"

Draping his arm over the Overseer, both would motion upwards and their forms disappearing in a sudden increase if speed. Although he did not realize it at the time, he was no longer harboring the soul of his brother but also the ghost of the man he'd killed and taken power from.

His gaze watched the rising embers born from a small fire nestled within a small depression in the sand. Hanging just out of the fire's grip would be a single stick, slanted at an angle with the cleaned carcass of a dune rabbit impaled upon it. The meat, still cooking slowly was turning a dark shade of brown, the meager meal soon ready to be devoured. His eyes tracked away from the campfire and meal, ignoring the darkness that was held at bay by the fire's light, to stare at the Overseer. There had been something bugging the back of his mind for some time and he wondered if he would have an answer to his question. Turning his gaze back to the flames, his palms pressed together while both index fingers were brought to continuously tap against one another.

"In my time within the village, following my brother there is something that was never fully explained to me."

'What might that be?'

"Why does he do what he do, why does he care so much about such a place? Ranks are just that, we're groomed to be nothing more than fodder for the villages wishes."

'Because he understands the true nature of the hidden village and why we shinobi exist to protect it'

"There is no true nature, the hidden village only exists to serve earth country as a military power and we are expendable resources who's lives are only worth as much as we can bring in."

'Do you truly think that? You are misguided then though I do not fault you for that. You are young, when you are older or shall I say if you were older then you may have uncovered the truth naturally."

"Then explain it to me so I can understand him better"

'You have it all wrong, the village serves to nurture and protect those to young to protect themselves and who have yet to breath and taste life. We are shinobi not to serve as soldiers for the country but to feed the village which protects our families, children and ultimately...our clan.'

The prevailing silence from the Overseer told Oyochi that whatever else there was to this would be something that he would have to uncover for himself, whatever that meant. Rising, he would turn away from their campfire and make his way up the side of the nearby sand dune. His gaze overlooked the vast expanse of sand with a clear night's sky accenting the backdrop. His breathing became shallow while both eyes closed taking in the feeling the land in which he stood upon. Opening his eyes, the pupils became somewhat crystalized in pattern as streaks of glowing red arc across and enveloped the totality of his eyes. His vision of the land adjusted to the awakening of his Sanryoukyougan, and as his chakra nature melded into his doujutsu the color would fade to an earthly green with brown undertones. He could see the various spiritual attributes that covered the area, intrigued heavily by how much the spiritual realm had a grasp upon it. He glanced towards his hands and sighed, relinquishing all the thoughts that had built up in his head. Turning towards the Overseer's general direction, he'd place his palms along his waistline and with a brewing confidence in his decided conviction announced..

"We're returning home at daybreak. If my brother can find a place in his heart to devote then so can I."

His pupil's glow would fade, the inner awakening of his true potentially only occurring when his mental strength and conviction had manifested to truly use the gift bestowed upon him by their deity. While he still did not fully understand the workings of the Serpent King, having a foot into the spirit realm would undoubtedly help him figure that out on down the road.
