Sixth Sense
Haruken is evidence of a curse placed upon her by and demon. That evil spirit, Fen'Harel they called him back in her home town, was a malicious wolf that fed on the souls of men. He had a more sinister punishment for her however. No she was not going to become food, but a servant as hungry for souls as he is. As the curse got stronger she started to see the souls of the living. True seeing a person’s soul was a little helpful for she could tell if someone was a clone or a puppet. Clone and puppets have no soul. Unfortunately seeing souls always made her hungry
Sensor
To Hakuren a soul was represented by a small ball of flame within a person’s body. It was always located in same position in the body, the heart or the gate of death. Every person’s soul was unique in its own way and Hakuren has learn to take the time to study a person’s soul. To see the color which it, to note the dance of the wisp of the flame, to measure it’s brightness and to count the rate at which it flickers. After such a careful examination she could easily pick out a person in a masquerade ball.
Tracker
Unfortunately the curse was not placed on her with kindness and thus seeing the souls of the living was not always a good thing. Such an unusual ability came with a price; an insatiable hunger. Though she tries her hardest to restrain herself, even she has moments of weakness. She is cursed with a drive to hunt and devour a living soul and she can only hold it off for so long. When she no longer possesses the strength of will see will track her prey’s soul to the ends of the earth. The day after is often filled with self-loathing.
Deflection
Throughout the many identities Hakuren has explored the world through she has practiced with a wide variety of weapons. However with each weapon she practice the same martial art. The ability to parry an oncoming attack, to redirect moving energy and to use an opponent’s own force against them. The martial art with she holds dear is call Tai Chi. It is often practiced for both its defense training and its health benefits. Outside of the heat of battle in her daily life she uses such a style of fighting to combat her inner demons by redirecting the curse powers to more beneficial outcomes.
Quick Reaction
Tai chi fighting stance are often one hand open and the other closed; offense and defense. To parry, redirect or dodge an oncoming attack is only the first part of her style. Hakuren naturally follows through with each successful defense with a retaliating strike or a counterattack. She sometime trains with her sensei, her fox companion, and her would run at her with a feral charge. Not only would she attempt to dodge the stampeding animal, but aid in the continuation of her forward movement with an attack of her own. This often led the fox enable to stop before hitting a wall.
Defensive Technique
No surprise for one that focuses on a martial art practiced for its defensive technique that the ability to prevent herself from getting hit is paramount to Hakuren’s fighting style. Because without a successful dodge she cannot follow up with an appropriate counterattack. Of course like all things, it comes with a price; an equal but opposite exchange to be exact. The cost for being able to better dodge an attack it to loose accuracy it hitting with one. After weighting her options she decided she would gladly make the tradeoff. She figures she could find other was to make up for her loss.
Shinobi 101(Projectile jutsu uses melee accuracy
“You call that a summon. Let me show you a real creation.” Hakuren focuses the curses powers to the tip of her finger and begins to draw a magic circle. What emerges form it was a monster to be sure. She was bigger than a human with her bottom half being that of a snake. The top half seems human for the most part and was decently endowed for those who were looking in that area. Her lower arms however were covered with feathers and hand were like talons. A blindfold covers her eyes and in the center of the blindfold was an ornamental eye. In truth she was a projectile weapon enhanced and brought to life with the curses powers. Instead of using range accuracy as her weapon type suggests, she uses the melee accuracy of her summoner.
Martial Artist
Hakuren's fox companion likes to adapt to her partner's form; Black Cat, Horse, parrot, wolf and so on and so on. Being a high ranking member of the faceless himself, it is no wonder that he is knowledgeable of such jutsu. Unlike Hakuren who is only changing slightly. Her Fox like friend has far more experience and can change species. If a battle is looking to ensue he is instinctive to transform into a clone of her pupil in whatever form she was currently in. To him this is a preemptive strike to confuse the enemy before the battle officially starts.
Insight
Hakuren has learn to take the time to study a person’s soul and after such a careful examination she could easily pick out a person in a masquerade party with no trouble at all. However that is not the only advantage of studying a person’s soul. The way it floats around a person’s body is quite subtle, but with her experience she has learned that it says volumes of a person’s intentions. It is a form of unique insight she has learned to rely on. To be able to unnaturally discern a person hidden motives just by looking at them.
Remove Ability
Weapon Mastery- unarmed
Hakuren was using her witch form, fighting someone in a duel and was losing.
Full of anger at her opponent and herself the curse activates but it does more than a small seal in her right eye. The curse forms a symbiosis and over wrights her current body. The witch grabs her chest for a sudden pain stuck her. She cries in pain and proceeds to transform into an anthropromorphic wolf. Unfortunately this form was permanent, so that even when the seal was not active she was a humanoid wolf. This new base form completely overwritten her Faceless ability to change forms. It was very disconcerting but thankfully the Faceless clan had a solution to her problem.
With in the house of black in white, the clan house of the Faceless name after the two strange doors to the front entrance, there was the hall of faces. The transformation jutsu there god teaches them is a strong one and difficult to master. It the first few uses one must rip of their flesh to reveal a new face underneath. These faces or then made into enchanted maskes. The reason for the creation of these mask are because the cult of the Faceless understands that the skills of the faceless do not always come naturally to most people. Sometime initiates have to that some small steps before diving straight in. Hakuren was not one of these initiates took the jutsu swimmingly. The fact that she has to fall back to using these masks due to her damn curse made her seem like a loser. Luckily she found all the faces she donated to the clan, so she can keep all her roles. The downside of these masks however were that they could be disarmed and don’t switch out quite as effectively.
