Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Seiryuu Aoi. It was the name he had been given at the orphanage. He doesn't know who his parents were or what happened to them. All he knows is that is the name written on his registration form. He was to start tomorrow a new life, a new purpose. Something he has been dreading and anticipating at the same time. The pale boy held his registration form in his small soft hands, the same hands that are someday gonna be calloused from training, from saving people.

"
...saving people" he repeated, a small smile brightened the boys dreaming face, filling his cheeks with a bit of colour. He stared at the Academy, marvelling at how such a lifeless stone building could give life to his dreams, to the whole of Suna's forces. At least in his mind, it did. For him, saving people was the ultimate dream, goal of ninjas. It was, for him, the very essence of Shinobiship. He sat down on the sandy ground, not minding the sand on his dark blue shorts, in contrast with his stark white shirt, as it has already on his brown leather sandals.

"My dream. Saving people. Everything is in this buliding."

Re: Viewing what will be[OPEN - please enter]

Finally, the Academy's in sight! ...sort of... Naoki smiled wryly at her thoughts, adjusting her headband so that it sat neatly on the bridge of her nose. I still can't see anything, but I do know where I'm going. Might as well just keep at this! After her self-pep talk, she took her first short strides towards the hallowed halls.

She'd been waiting to set foot in the halls of the Academy, even technically already being a genin. She did feel like she had much, much more to learn before she could really consider herself a full-fledged member of the Sunagakure shinobi, but for now, until she could find an open class, she was going to see if she could make any friends.

Truthfully though, she was fine with just herself. Her previous experiences with other people her age hadn't been pleasant, and she did not look forward to any more of that. Her mother had insisted that she make at least three though, and since she could no longer read there wasn't much else to occupy her downtime.

Hmhm... I should probably pick out people who seem lost. They'd be easier to talk to than suddenly jumping into a group of people or pulling someone out of whatever they're doing right? Naoki avoided the deeper sand, as it muffled her steps, and neared a boy sitting down on the ground. She stopped in her tracks when she heard his voice, and turned her head down and to the right slowly. Curious, she got a little closer and asked him, "Hey, hey... What're you doing down there? You won't save anyone sitting here."

OOC: Welcome back! Let's get along well.

Re: Viewing what will be[OPEN - please enter]

The pale boy jumped in fright. He was never good at being attentive to his surroundings, this he was very sure at the moment. Clutching his chest, he decided lying down on the sand, wide eyed in terror was not the best way to greet someone, nor make a good first impression. The boy stood up, stretching his lips, producing a forced smile, brushing the sand off of him. He looked the girl over from top to toe as if sizing her up. Something tells him looking someone over that way would result to bed things but he could not understand how or in what way at the moment though. The boy opened his mouth like a fish for a few seconds, not a single syllable escaping from his pale lips. Frustrated, he bit his lip a bit and breathed deeply for a few seconds before extending his arm, smiling an unsure smile. And finally, words and sound from the unsure boy.

Aoi. Seiryuu Aoi. I… uhmm, I am sorry if I was in your way. Did I bother you?” The boy started, already apologizing for anything that he might have overlooked, or if he did something to offend or disturb the other. It would not be the first for him really. ‘Oh right, she was asking what I was doing down here.’ The boy tried to make the mostly unused communication centers of his brain to try and create a decent answer.

I am gonna start my classes tomorrow. I hope I do good. I want to be a ninja, a hero, like everyone else in the village. What about you? What are you doing here? You already have a forehead protector.” The boy started, hoping he didn’t make any kind of blunders.

Naoki stood quite still as the boy expressed his surprise. She should make a point of calling out to people when they're a couple metres away, not everyone has echolocation to her extent after all. When he stood up, taller than she was, her head followed, more out of courtesy than anything else. She smiled back too, and this action was genuinely relieved. She'd been expecting a more extreme reaction, especially since she was blindfolded.

His heartbeat's pretty fast, I guess I did shock him a little there... "Ah sorry, I didn't mean to... Just wanted to see if you could use any help. I'm Samejima Naoki, nice to meet you Seiryuu-kun!" she said, shaking his hand firmly.

When he gave his answer to her earlier question, along with a few more of his own, she was surprised. Hmm... I thought for sure he'd ask about why I'm blindfolded first. He does look older than me though, maybe kids his age are more considerate. "You're going to be a hero? That sounds nice... I'm just here to take my classes, since I was given a genin exam pretty early on. I'd been stuck outside for a while see, so I received some advanced training from House Hyou of the Toraono clan..."

Naoki paused, and shook her head. You're here to make friends, not relate your life story! "Oh, but enough about me!"

Conversation, conversation...

"Umm, um, so, what classes are you planning on taking first? Is there a schedule or something we have to follow?"

Re: Viewing what will be[OPEN - please enter]

Aoi didn’t deal with a lot of people so he wouldn’t really know what was normal in terms of appearances was. He just accepted whoever came to greet him before he went back to his room. At least, that was how he acted back in the orphanage. Maybe in the real world, he would finally show some change and be able to react to something aesthetic but for moment, he just doesn’t see anything worth commenting on.

It seems the girl only wanted to help him in some way. Aoi smiled. Now this was something he was very much familiar with.

I see. I am fine. I really thought after I left the orphanage people would stop pitying me. I guess I still look too pityful.” He replied moving a few inches away from her out of habit. But then he realized that maybe that statement was a bit much or maybe he hurt other people. “I mean, its alright if you see me that way. I am used to it. People always pitied me there because of my frail body and pale complexion.

Aoi awkwardly tried to smile even more, trying to reassure her he’s okay. The boy turned away from her and sat on the sand, patting the space beside him, beckoning the other to follow suit. He turned his gaze back toward the building and started dreaming again, of being a hero, of being able to save someone. Someday, he would be able to repay everyone back at the orphanage and his very generous neighbor’s and landlord.

Feel free to call by my name instead of my surname, Seiryuu. May I call you Naoki-san?" he asked, figuring it was the best way to start with what he thought he should say. “I have always wanted to be a hero because everyone back at the orphanage treated me very well, respecting my need for personal space, as well as giving me more than enough clothing and shoes. When I moved out of the orphanage, I thought about how I would deal with the world on my own without everyone who helped me before but I guess even then, people feel the need to help me because of my appearance. I would forever be grateful to them and so I wanted to be a ninja to repay them for everything.

The boy rambled on, his teary eyes gazing past the edifice in front of them. He folded his legs and hugged them. He didn’t mean to feel this way.

I am sorry. I didn’t mean to sound so sad. Its just whenever people ask why I want to be a hero, I get emotional.” The boy wiped his eyes and smiled at the other. “What about you? What are your dreams? People say I always sound so mature because I always talk about big things, like really heavy topics but I just don’t see the point in talking about the weather or who’s wife cooks the best. I hope you don’t mind.

Aoi sincerely hoped she doesn’t get turned off by all this serious talk. She seems like a really nice person. He hoped they could talk some more.

OOC: Oh thanks for welcoming me. I am sure we'll get along fine. :D

Re: Viewing what will be[OPEN - please enter]

After the third sentence the boy spoke, Naoki reacted. Hands flailing about in a panicked series of explanatory gestures, she tried to clarify her intentions as the boy stepped away from her. "Ahh, no no no, that's not how I, um! I'm new at this, so I thought I should help out and stuff y'know? I can't really tell if you're frail or not, and you are taller than me so um, uhhh..." She ended the spiel with a hand on the right side of her head, trying to think of the right way to talk to him.

Huh? He's smiling now? It wasn't visible, but Naoki did feel a certain pity for him. Not for his stature or complexion that she couldn't see, but for how he was so used to this kind of treatment. If they were to cross paths again, she'd be sure to treat him like she'd treat any other person she met before.

She then sat down next to him, and listened to what he had to say... But he seemed to have gotten the wrong impression about her initial question, which was meant to be rhetorical. ...Well... First step to making a friend is listening to what they have to say right? Maybe if I play my cards right here... "Ah, um... Sorry, I don't know how well I can keep up with heavy topics... Mo-"

She cut herself off before potentially stepping on another landmine. That was close! Too close! Something else, think of something else!

"Mo... monkeys!" Monkeys?! Why? Why would monkeys come out in deep conversations?! Thinking fast, so as to draw the topic away from her almost-slipup, she continued, "They're probably better at carrying a conversation than I am, haha!"

A grin across her face, an attempt at glossing over her nervousness, Naoki ended with a question as a further distraction. "So then, Aoi-kun... What kind of hero do you want to be?" He could take this either way, but Naoki meant to ask him about what types of jutsu he'd primarily be using, not the moral implications of becoming a hero.

Re: Viewing what will be[OPEN - please enter]

"Oh right, you can't see me. I'm sorry." Aoi replied, suddenly feeling insensitive and dumb. He should have thought of that earlier, maybe right after he saw the hitai ate over her eyes. Maybe then he could have avoided this situation. But then again, he wasn't very talented in dealing with people, or detecting their mood so maybe it couldn't be helped? Nevertheless, when he felt her sit beside, he thought that maybe the conversation would make a turn for the better but as it turned out, she decided to talk about monkeys. Was there a current monkey trend he did not know of? He looked at her weirdly, trying hard to understand why they were about to talk about monkeys and not about serious stuff.

"
Monkeys? Is there some sort of trend about monkeys I should know about? Maybe I should start reading about monkey's instead." he seriously asked, berating himself for not knowing this new monkey fad that apparently is popular if one of these normal people are talking about it in the middle of a conversation. 'Note to self, research more about monkeys.' This conversation made Aoi realize that maybe he should spend more time reading about what people like to talk about nowadays. He nodded visibly, determined to let the world know he also knows about monkeys.

"
Monkey's are arborial. Its cool, I think. If I can't talk about monkeys, then I guess they are better than me too." he commented with a big smile on his face. One would think he was trolling but he was dead serious. If only the boy knew what the girl was talking about.

"
I want to be able to defeat these bad people running around nowadays. I forgot what they are called but I want to defeat them, to save people's lives when they are being attacked. That would be nice." Aoi said happily, blood rushing to his face in complete bliss just thinking about it. His childish innocence radiating as he finished his sentence with a fist pump. He looked at her happily and extended his hand again, eager for another handshake.

"
You know, I don't meet a lot of people but I think you're cool that you've endured talking to me for this long. People would often just say hi and that they will take care of me if ever I'm sick or if I ever needed saving. I hope we can be friends. By the way, I remember you mentioning House Hyou from Toraono Clan. What are they?"

OOC: I'm sorry for Aoi's innocence. :D

Re: Viewing what will be[OPEN - please enter]

"Ohh, it's fine, I approached you pretty casually so it must've seemed like I could see you, but really I can only um... feel where you are." Naoki hoped she explained the extent of her sensory sensitivity clearly enough, it was pretty hard to describe even to herself.

Didn't he say he liked talking about more serious things? He actually went along with the monkey thing I slapped on to cover the mess I was about to make... Talking about what mom keeps telling me didn't seem to be a good topic. But this guy's nice, I'm going to have to clear up the confusion somehow.

"I... I have no idea~ I just got here myself, so I don't know if it's trending here, but uhh... a bunch of monkeys came by back where I lived and it was a pretty cool topic! Yeah!"

As Aoi said something about the monkeys being better than him, she realised she might've made it seem perfectly normal to be worse off than monkeys. "Ahh no, well, the monkeys were the first thing that came to mind when I was trying to crack a joke..." But as the boy began to smile, she took it as a joke and smiled back, unsure of what else to do in this situation.

Naoki shook his hand again, with a little more vigour than before, despite not knowing why someone would offer two handshakes upon meeting. Just going with it seemed to be the proper course of action, since she never knew what might set him off. It seems she needed to work more on her observational skills in terms of conversations...

She was asked a question, along with some statements of a pretty admirable sense of acceptance, if you ask this narrator. Giggling a little as she said the first sentence, "I don't know if I can take care of anyone right now Aoi-kun! But I do think we can be friends, especially since we'll be at the Academy taking classes anyway."

She paused a little before answering, as she wasn't all that sure herself. "I think Sousuke-sama mentioned they were half... oh wait no, almost-half-demons. They're really nice, and tall, and they can use um... genjutsu... I think? They used genjutsu to help me train a lot in a short amount of time!"

She would have spewed a whole story about those that she met and how her training went, but it was a little saddening to think of that training period. It was when she lost her sight after all. If her new friend wanted her to though, she wouldn't mind telling him the whole story at all.

OOC: Makes sense, he should still be innocent after all =w=b

Re: Viewing what will be[OPEN - please enter]

'She could only feel where I am? That is astounding. I must get hold of this interesting skill of hers.' he thought, suddenly seeing her in a whole new light. The ability to feel things where they are would've come in handy when he was hungry at night and he had to steal cookies from the cookie jar back at the orphanage. Now, he has developed the strong resolve to have that kind of ability, to know where she got it from and how he would get it. Only question now is how to go about it. He knew he certainly wasn't the most tactful person around, nor was he the most verbally adept person he knew but he had to try somehow. With this in mind, he observed her, her movements, trying to get a grasp of how she was doing it.

So as she went on, he focused on her ears, her hands anything that could physically aid him. But alas, he wasn't very good at observation. Apparently, monkeys was a topic only famous in her hometown, not here, not that she would know as she was also new here. He would ask where her hometown was and why they were talking about monkeys when he was told that it, the monkey topic, apparently was just a joke. The boy blushed pink and suddenly found it hard to look at her. He busied himself in drawing a dinosaur on the sand.

"
I... I see. It was a joke. Of course, I knew that. Yeah... Uhmm..." Since the boy wasn't very good at holding conversations, it also goes without saying that he was also bad at recovering from embarassing situations as this. Hence, he stayed quiet for what seemed like an eternity of embarrassing torture - it was actually just two seconds though - and thanked the heavens when she finally spoke of something he knows a little about. The boy smiled, though keeping his gaze on the sand.

"
Taking classes? I thought you were already a genin? Isn't that why you have a forehead protector over your eyes?" Completely thinking any kind of scarf like thing over one's head is a protector as he had never really taken a close look at one. He had only seen it from afar. "But if you were taking clases, I don't think we'd be separated since I haven't decided yet which techniques I will be focusing on, if its ninjutsu, taijutsu or genjutsu. So I'm taking classes in all of them. How about you though?"

As she mentioned what she meant by the House Hyou and the Toraono Clan, he flinched at the word Demon.

"
Demon? From everything I've read, demons are always the bad guys. How can they be good?" he asked in half curiosity, half disbelief. "I don't understand. I think I want to see these demons for myself. Do you think you can help me with that?"

OOC: MFT. 489 word count.

Re: Viewing what will be[OPEN - please enter]

Looks like we've found some common ground! This is good. Just keep this up and we'll be good to go!

"Oh, well, I think I mentioned a little of this earlier, but I became a genin pretty fast, so I didn't manage to absorb all the information right. I'll follow you around for classes all day then!" Naoki laughed, and waved a little to make it clear that it was just another attempt at getting the boy to laugh, and not a declaration of stalking in any way.

At Aoi's last question, she grew a little thoughtful. "I'm supposed to meet with Toraono-dono after this, for a mission. If you'll join me and two others for it, I'm sure I could get you to meet him..."

A vague thought got closer and closer to the forefront of Naoki's mind, until it smashed into her consciousness with the force of a thousand bulls. "Ohh gosh- I just remembered I'm supposed to be getting the members together! Let's meet back here in an hour, ok?" With that, Naoki took off for the entrance of the Academy, then skidded to a halt, spinning on her heel and running back. "Or you could follow me if you want. I'll be going over there!" Waving vigorously, she restarted her dash for the Academy, actually making it there this time.

OOC: Thanks for the thread! Go ahead and make a post in the linked thread too if you want to join the mission :3

Re: Viewing what will be[OPEN - please enter]

"Alright." Aoi replied, thinking if being followed all day was a good thing. So far though, all he thought of were bad things and he thought maybe he should get to know her a little more before thinking bad things that would happen if she followed him all day. Besides, it wouldn't do him any good if he started scaring himself just when he met another friend, his first ninja friend, even if said friend is still in training apparently.

Apparently, Naoki-san was supposed to go on a mission then remembered she was to be meeting members for said mission soon and told him to follow if he wanted. He shook his shoulders. Its not like he had anything better to do at the moment. So why not? But then again, he wasn't too thrilled about meeting another set of strangers so soon. He smiled an uneasy smile.

"
Thank you for the offer but uhmm, I have things to do. I'll just see you around, hopefully though." he said, nodding at her and started heading home.
