It was truly a strange item he'd been gifted...
Not even hours before, Yanjirou found himself training under an ex-member of the Byakko - a clan just as old as the Toraono themselves, but still considered apart of them. During this time, he not only learned how to summon those who serve Byakko himself directly, but also received a weapon, one that changed to fit him in every way, at least from what he was told. As far as the boy could tell, it only fit his form, and not his fighting style. Ever since he'd begun his training in the academy, he'd taken a more opportunistic approach to things, wielding a sword, dagger, and weapon of his own design to try and have the upper hand in any situation he might find himself in. Yet, when the weapon that initially appeared perfect to suit his fighting style was found, it instead gave him gauntlets with unusually sharp finger tips..
They could obviously represent the mighty claws of Byakko, but would that not be better for someone of a different school of taijutsu? One who relied less on held weapons? There were many things the boy had to consider as he sat on his bed - adorned in the silk Gi that he also obtained earlier - clutching the two gauntlets, which were still vibrating slightly when touched by their new master. He would have to find some way to learn more... The power required to summon his lord and ask him directly what the gauntlets were meant for was still far from his reach, so that was certainly not an option. Perhaps putting them on again would help him learn more; perhaps there was something special that taught him to properly use them as he practiced, however cliche that may be.
Whether it worked or not, it was worth a try, so he began pulling the first gauntlet over his hand, and the moment the second's fingers were filled, a sudden flash of light filled Yanjirou's vision, then darkness as he passed out on his bed. Minutes later, he would awake, the same bright light that caused him to pass out greeting him as he slowly sat up. Simply from the touch, it was clear to the boy that he was still seated on his bed, but he was unable to move his legs, and the world around him was far from familiar. Only moments after he woke, a large figure approached him, difficult to make out as he was still disoriented from what had happened. The figure would approach him, stopping only a few feet away and looking down with its large, blurry head before speaking.
"Hello, Yanjirou. I've come with a message..." It boomed, a loud, masculine voice echoing through the area. So many questions had already filled the young shinobi's mind, but despite his efforts, he was unable to speak. He could only listen...
"The gauntlets you received, you've no idea why they were given to you correct?" How could this figure possibly have know about the gauntlets? Unless... One possibility entered the boy's mind, but there was really no way to tell for sure. Not yet. He nodded in response to the question.
"Yes... I planned it this way. It would have been inconvenient, to say the least, for you to have a vision in such a public place." The figure explained, Well you see, I am entirely aware of the way you fight," It had to be him! How else would a complete stranger know of all of these things? "But a true member of my mighty clan should never have to use such underhanded tactics to win a fight. The Byakko have always been mighty shinobi, and as the one who is meant to succeed your father, I would expect you to be no less." The boy looked down, and away from the mighty beast as it spoke. He knew this was the truth, but it was the only way he knew how to win, "I have decided, after much thought, that I will grant you a power that will enhance your senses tenfold, allowing you to see and react to more than you ever could have imagined. The gauntlets, as you've already guessed, will help guide you down the path that will allow you to use this power more effectively, but it will still be up to you to change your ways. Yanjirou's head almost moved on its own, seemingly forcing him to look back up at the giant head in front of him, and as he gazed into the creature's eyes, he passed out once more.
This time it took several hours for him to awake, and the thing that finally managed to do so was a fly buzzing around in the entrance hall of his clan's dojo... How could he have possibly heard, and identified such a noise? The vision he just had seemed larger than life, so it was only natural to assume that it truly was larger than life. His life, at least. After readjusting to his own world, and attempting to wrap his head around what had just happened, the boy rushed to the mirror in his room to check for any changes to his physical self. Almost unsurprising, he found that his eyes had changed into a red, rather than their natural gold, and now had a constant glow about them. Though only slightly...
His ears twitched almost constantly, a natural reaction to sharp and unexpected noises, which at the time, all noises seemed to be that way. Perhaps the vision really was true, and not just his exhaustion turning him into a mad man. After calming down a bit, the boy even noticed that the gauntlets he wore stopped vibrating, and almost seemed to feel like skin... His, skin.. It was a strange sensation, and an even stranger one when he tried to remove them. It was almost as if they were meant to remain on his hands, as if they truly were his skin now... This was too much to comprehend for now, even for the boy who prided himself in his intellect and observance. He would simply have to figure things out later, assuming he could get some sleep with all of the noise in his normally silent home.
