Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Birthdate: May 12[lb][/lb]
Gender: Female[lb][/lb]

Academy Graduation Age: 12[lb][/lb]
Mednin Promotion Age: 15[lb2][/lb2]

[fontsize="12"]On a number of the Wakatsuchi family portraits out on display, Momoka is the easily the first to be noticed. She is rarely without her black wide-rimmed hat, an accessory personally decorated with leaves and peaches, and her blue hair was distinctive amongst her brown-haired relatives. Beside her grandparents, her eyes are the same rich shade of dark wood. Next to her cousin, she stands just half an inch shy of five feet two, almost a whole foot shorter than him. In a candid snapshot with her mother, she matches her sun-stained skin and athletic stature. Coming across her in person, Momoka often wears a button up blouse with a long skirt that goes past her knees and brown lace-up boots. When working at the flower shop, she has on a white apron with blue trimming. It has pockets for her garden tools and, as she often forgets to take it off after closing the store, shinobi equipment.[/fontsize]

[fontsize="12"]Despite the knowledge that she was abandoned as an infant, Momoka is not one to dwell on the past. Instead, she lives in the moment and takes each day as it comes. She likes to be engaged by the world around her and is highly observant. Despite relying in her quick thinking most of the time, she is confident in her ability to adapt and improvise in any situation. She doesn't like to overthink things and places a great deal of trust in her instincts. She thrives in spontaneity and the unpredictability of her impulsiveness, but is also careful not to be too reckless with her actions. Momoka does what she believes is the right thing to do, regardless of the possible consequences of her decisions.[lb2][/lb2]
Momoka has her own set of values. She is unafraid to speak her mind and challenges others when they try to tell her what to believe. She takes others at face value and expects to be regarded in the same manner, however her blunt and straightforward manner of speaking is often mistaken for rudeness. She prefers not to talk about her own feelings at length and chooses to act upon them instead. She often responds to conflict with physical aggression.[lb2][/lb2]
To stave off boredom from routine, she enjoys talking to her patients or going out on the field for research. In her spare time, she takes up gardening, foregoing the use of chakra and letting her plants grow naturally. She also has a great appreciation for the art of flower arranging.[/fontsize]

"The Entertainer" (ESFP-A)[lb][/lb]
If anyone is to be found spontaneously breaking into song and dance, it is the Entertainer personality type. Entertainers get caught up in the excitement of the moment, and want everyone else to feel that way, too. No other personality type is as generous with their time and energy as Entertainers when it comes to encouraging others, and no other personality type does it with such irresistible style.

[fontsize="16"]The Flower Fields of Greater Fire Country[/fontsize]<i></i>[lb][/lb]
[fontsize="14"]Located in a valley settlement within the Greater Fire Country is Farm Wakatsuchi, a twelve hectare farmland covered by a colorful array of flowers. First cultivated by Wakatsuchi Toshiya of northern Tea Country origin, it was meant to be an agricultural business that supplied rarer flower varieties in the country. Demand fell in the later years, however, and as it rose in popularity as a destination for travelers, it has since shifted its main function as a tourist attraction. The flower fields backdropped by the mountains that border the valley are best viewed during the summer, but some plants are in full bloom in the spring or fall. Many facilities can be found on the farm, including a museum of the farm’s history, a gallery showcasing photos of the flowers on the farm, several display areas of ikebana created by Wakatsuchi Sakiho, Toshiya’s wife, and even the original Wakatsuchi cottage. Although the house itself is off-limits, visitors often come by to see the small garden personally tended to by the family. Newer additions to the farm include a distillery, where oils from the flowers are extracted for cosmetic products, and a gift shop where the products are sold. In the forefront of the farm’s recent expansion is Toshiya’s grandson, Keiju…[/fontsize]<i></i>

One late spring evening, a piercing shriek rattles the Wakatsuchi household.[lb2][/lb2]

Rogue nin were few and far in between, but such a foreign noise might still be a distraction and is still cause for alarm for Konohagakure medic, Wakatsuchi Takeko. Arming herself with the kunai from her bedside, she is the first out the door. She makes her way toward the main road cautiously, anticipating an attack with each step as the shrill cries echo louder in the air. Right behind her is Farm Wakatsuchi's successor, Wakatsuchi Keiju, carrying a lamp and holding onto a wooden katana, one of Takeko's old training swords and the only other weapon in the house.[lb2][/lb2]

Halfway past the field next to their house, Takeko determines the noise to be coming from the field on her right. She motions for Keiju to stay as she goes on ahead to search each row. Past the sixth, she notices something, an object seemingly covered in fabric. Her face frowns in confusion as she looks around and approaches the bundle.[lb2][/lb2]

Takeko peels back the fabric carefully and finds a wailing infant underneath.[lb2][/lb2]

"Keiju!" she calls out to her brother, and he comes running as the cries start to quiet down.[lb2][/lb2]

He finds her cradling the infant, green chakra enveloping her hands as she inspects the child for injuries. The warm glow seems to have a soothing effect on the infant, who curls further into Takeko's body. Keiju approaches them slowly, watching as Takeko's expression shift from confused to concerned. He bends down near the blankets by her feet and looks for a trace of how an infant ended up in their field; footsteps, disturbances between the flowers where it was left. Finding nothing, he rifles between the fabric folds, looking for a letter of explanation or a keepsake that would point to the infant's family. When that turns up fruitless as well, he exchanges a worried glance with Takeko.[lb2][/lb2]

"What are we going to do with an orphan?" Keiju mutters.[lb2][/lb2]

Takeko resides on the second floor of a shophouse she manages in Konoha—a flower shop built as an extension of the farm. Her stays at the farm were infrequent, as she is either on a mission or on duty at the hospital. Keiju lives on the farm but was bound for a long expedition to Tea Country with his wife and son in the next month. At present, neither were in a position to accommodate an orphan.[lb2][/lb2]

As if sensing her impending homelessness, the infant begins to wail again.[lb2][/lb2]

Keiju picks up the blanket on the ground and pats off the dirt. He hands it to Takeko, who wraps it around the infant and begins to sway it gently, hoping to calm it down. The pair make their way back to the house in relative silence. Keiju steals glances as his sister watches the infant stir, asleep but restless. Just outside the house, she abruptly stops.[lb2][/lb2]

"Momoka," she says, "We'll call her Momoka,"[lb2][/lb2]

Momoka is barely a month old when she's adopted by accomplished medic Wakatsuchi Takeko.[lb2][/lb2]

—————————————[lb][/lb]
ii. ブルーベル[lb][/lb]
—————————————[lb2][/lb2]
As is tradition of the Wakatsuchi family, each child receives a small portion of the garden outside the house for their personal use. Takeko's plot is reserved for medicinal plants, while Keiju's is reserved for new seeds he comes across on his travels. When Keiju married Nishiko, she received her own section of the garden and filled it with herbs she uses for cooking. Their son, Hiroki, requested an area at the back of the house to plant a tree in, saying he wanted to build a tree house on it in the future.[lb2][/lb2]

On Momoka's fifth birthday, the family gifts her with her share of the land. She shrieks with delight as she waddles onto freshly tilled soil. Hiroki follows behind her, the designated guardian when the grown ups aren't around. He asks her what she wants to plant first, and she responds by tilting her head to one side. He pulls up his wagon of plastic garden tools and begins to show her an assortment of seeds she could start with.[lb2][/lb2]

Momoka places a finger on her chin thoughtfully before picking up a bag of bluebell seeds.[lb2][/lb2]

Inside the house, Takeko nearly drops the stack of plates she was carrying at the combination of an unexpected surge of what was unmistakably chakra and Hiroki suddenly bursting through the door.[lb2][/lb2]

"Ta-chan, come outside! It's Mocchi!" he says with urgency.[lb2][/lb2]

Takeko forgets about the plates and runs after him. Understandably concerned, the other adults rush outside as well.[lb2][/lb2]

They were met with the sight of a giggling Momoka, surrounded by bluebells.[lb2][/lb2]

"Ta-chan, look!" Hiroki says, his urgency now apparent as excitement at what his cousin had done on her section of the garden, "I was helping Mocchi plant these seeds but when she was covering them up, the flowers just popped out!" he mimics how they did it earlier, jumping when he says the word 'pop', "I tried doing it but nothing happened. But when Momoka did it again, more flowers grew,"[lb2][/lb2]

There was a collective sigh of relief, but Keiju glances at Takeko apprehensively. Takeko stares dumbfounded at Momoka. Neither considered the possibility of their orphan being able to manipulate chakra, a skill that now at least points to some shinobi heritage.[lb2][/lb2]

Momoka, meanwhile, plucks a handful of the bluebells she grew and approaches Takeko with a proud look on her face.[lb2][/lb2]

"Thank you, mama," she says as she holds out the bouquet for her mother.[lb2][/lb2]

Momoka is five when she first manifests one of the qualities that makes her mother beam with pride.[lb2][/lb2]

"…three, two, one!" Hiroki counts down from ten, his lowered voice increases in volume as the value of his count decreases. As soon as he reaches one, he slides down the blindfold around his eyes and looks around the forest. It is fairly quiet around him, but growing up surrounded by these trees means he is able to discern the foreign sound of hushed voices in the distance and could as easily pick out the crunch of footsteps over fallen leaves. He stuffs his hands in his pockets as he casually strolls into the forest trail.[lb2][/lb2]

He hears the sound of muffled snickers and turns to his right, "I see you, Takkun,” he says in a sing song voice. Takatsugu's spiky brown hair is distinctive despite the surrounding tree barks.[lb2][/lb2]

Takatsugu steps out of hiding with a look of disbelief, "Hisa told me you wouldn't be able to!"[lb2][/lb2]

Hiroki does not miss the sound of a branch creaking under the weight of something. He looks up with an amused grin, "Well, to be fair, I see Hisa too,"[lb2][/lb2]

Hisakata perches on a tree branch and lets out a sound of annoyance as he jumps and lands with little difficulty, "I told you to climb the tree with me," he tells Takatsugu.[lb2][/lb2]

"He still saw us both y'know," Takatsugu argues and Hiroki steps in to prevent a squabble, but a soft tinkle of laughter takes them all by surprise. The three stop to look at each other.[lb2][/lb2]

Hisakata is the first to react by pointing towards the source of the sound. Hiroki nods in agreement and Takatsugu grins mischievously. He runs off immediately and the two jog closely behind him. They reach deeper into the forest and come across a clearing. They find Yasumi standing in the middle and obviously not in hiding.[lb2][/lb2]

"Yasu-chan!" Takatsugu calls out, "What are you doing out here?"[lb2][/lb2]

"Now Hiroki found you too!"[lb2][/lb2]

Yasumi smiles apologetically, "I'm sorry Taka-kun, Hisa-kun,"[lb2][/lb2]

She glances at something behind them which makes the three of them turn around. Curiously, they see a tree they swear wasn't there before. It looks exactly like the other trees that surround it, except it's trembling.[lb2][/lb2]

Takatsugu jumps back in fear and Hisakata's eyes widen as he freezes. Hiroki sighs and picks up a pebble. Yasumi lets out a chuckle.[lb2][/lb2]

"Just because you go to ninja school doesn't mean you get to use your tricks on us, Mocchi," Hiroki aims the pebble towards the tree and throws.[lb2][/lb2]

"Ow!"[lb2][/lb2]

There is a puff of smoke and the tree disappears. In its place is Momoka instead, rubbing at her side where the pebble hit her. Takatsugu and Hisakata approach her, with awe and affronted, respectively.[lb2][/lb2]

"That's amazing!"[lb2][/lb2]

"That's cheating!"[lb2][/lb2]

Momoka raises her index finger as she brings up her defense, "Hey, we didn't have rules against transforming into a tree,"[lb2][/lb2]

"Oh, Momo-chan," Yasumi laughs while Hiroki shakes his head.[lb2][/lb2]

Momoka is eight when she starts to attend the Academy and it doesn't take her long to make use of what she learns.[lb2][/lb2]

"It's not as bad as it looks," Takatsugu says, but his voice betrays his words when Momoka hears his pitch change in an attempt to stifle the pain. Her hand shakes as she examines his leg—a broken femur with hairline fractures along the tibia and fibula. She considers the situation they're in and decides that while it isn't life threatening yet, it's certainly bad.[lb2][/lb2]

"I sure hope it's not," Momoka tells him under her breath and busies herself to find something to use as a makeshift splint.[lb2][/lb2]

"Don't you have one of those jutsu that could heal that?" Hisakata asks expectantly. He sits at the mouth of the cave they were currently hiding out in, keeping watch and looking calm, but Momoka has known him long enough to realize he's feeling just as anxious when his grip on his bandaged arm tightens a fraction.[lb2][/lb2]

"I don't," she answers him dryly, frustrated over her own helplessness. Although her training as a medic had began, they had yet to cover how to heal. As of last week, she just got started on fish. She lets out a sigh of defeat as she turns to Takatsugu, "I can't find something to make a splint with, so I'll just have to bandage it tightly. You have to avoid moving around too much, though, got it?"[lb2][/lb2]

He nods at her and tries to cover a wince with a smile.[lb2][/lb2]

She shakes her head and pulls out another roll of bandages from their first aid kit. As she begins to gently wrap it around his leg, careful not to aggravate his injury further, her mind replays what happened a half hour ago: They had been hiking on one of the mountains that surrounded the valley but had the misfortune of coming across a pair of rogue nin. Momoka tried to fight them off at first, but then one of them lunged at Takatsugu so she put up a barrier and grabbed both of her friends' arms. They run away from the marked paths and come across a cliff where they unanimously decide to jump off the edge to lose their pursuers. Momoka instinctively molds the earth to break her fall with crude stepping stones, but Hisakata and Takatsugu underestimate the distance of the drop, so the former scrapes a long, nasty gash along his right forearm and the latter shatters his left leg upon landing.[lb2][/lb2]

"At least we're safe in this cave," Takatsugu comments, breaking the silence that had fallen on them.[lb2][/lb2]

"Do you think they're still after us?" Hisakata asks neither of them in particular. He knows they're safe, at least for now because Momoka set up traps earlier, but he flinches at the slightest noise from outside.[lb2][/lb2]

"Probably not. But they might be causing trouble elsewhere," Momoka answers quietly, her mouth forms a thin line when she frowns. They are lucky to find the cave to settle in for the night. Tomorrow, however, they would have to take a look around to see which side of the mountain they jumped off of. She secures the bandage around Takatsugu's leg and apologizes when he groans, "Well, we're not getting out of here tonight so Hisa-kun, come sit next to Takkun. You both need to rest. I'll take first watch," she announces and makes a move to stand up. Takatsugu stops her when he grabs her arm.[lb2][/lb2]

"You need to rest too, I bet,"[lb2][/lb2]

Hisakata doesn't miss the way Takatsugu looks at him so he moves closer to where they are.[lb2][/lb2]

"And besides, we have traps. We'll be able to hear them coming,"[lb2][/lb2]

Momoka looks wide-eyed at the pair. Takatsugu shifts slightly and Hisakata sits down some inches away from him. Takatsugu pats the space they leave between them and she realizes it's for her so she settles in between them wordlessly. Thankfully, the night air isn't cold enough to warrant a need for blankets, and the warmth that radiates from each other is sufficiently comforting. She sits with them in silence, not quite ready to drift off just yet when the wind whistles outside. Hisakata wraps his hand around her wrist and Takatsugu leans into her shoulder.[lb2][/lb2]

As their breaths even out, Momoka tries not to alarm her companions as she internally panics and her heart continues to skip more beats than she's comfortable with. She wonders if her mother would find them or if they'd have to make their own way back to the valley. She thinks of how, if her mother had been there, easy it could have been to fix their wounds. There's an odd feeling that settles at the pit of her stomach and it felt a lot like guilt when she thinks about how useless she is when it counts the most.[lb2][/lb2]

Momoka is twelve when she graduates and promptly realizes she has miles of her mother's footsteps to follow at the Byoin.[lb2][/lb2]

On the day Momoka earns her white uniform, the sky is grey and clouds are heavy with rain.[lb2][/lb2]

Though cause for celebration, a somber mood envelops the Wakatsuchi household and the family gathers for an entirely different reason:[lb2][/lb2]

Wakatsuchi Takeko was dead.[lb2][/lb2]

A week after she'd left for a mission, her teammates returned with her corpse. There was an ambush, a fight, and then, depletion of chakra reserves stretched beyond their capability. Takeko died from a forced cardiac arrest when she faced the decision to choose between healing her heart or healing her teammates extensive injuries: broken ribs, some fractured limbs, and a heavy case of poisoning; because obviously there was no contest.[lb2][/lb2]

On the day Momoka earns her white uniform, she wears black instead and puts on a carefully practiced expression that's supposed to keep her from crying. Takatsugu holds her hand and leads her to their seats. Hisakata notes that her downcast eyes and the awkward curve of her lips did not belong on her face, but he doesn't share these thoughts as he shuffles along with them.[lb2][/lb2]

The funeral is held at the village, because her grandparents believed it was only right that their daughter's final resting place be where she dedicated her life to protecting. The service is attended by her recovering teammates and plenty of her patients, and some of them come up to her to talk about how great a teammate, medic, and person Takeko had been. During the ceremony, Momoka gets to deliver a eulogy. Despite how she felt, her voice doesn't waver when she talks about how great a mother Takeko had been as well. She ponders on how, despite being abandoned in the middle of their field, her mother still chose to take her in and care for her like her own. She gives the crowd a rehearsed smile—it's tired and heartbroken, meant to be grateful for their presence, and she quietly goes back to her seat. Yasumi takes her hand and Hiroki ushers her under the cover of the umbrella he had.[lb2][/lb2]

Once the crowd disperses and only the five of them remain, Momoka speaks so softly they barely hear her.[lb2][/lb2]

"You guys go ahead. I… I just need to be alone for a while,"[lb2][/lb2]

"Are you sure you don't need any of us to stay?" Takatsugu asks, looking at the others unsurely. Momoka shakes head in response.[lb2][/lb2]

"There's dinner at the shophouse tonight. We'll meet you there," Hiroki says, waiting as Yasumi offers her a hug.[lb2][/lb2]

She rubs her back soothingly as she says, "You'll be okay,".[lb2][/lb2]

Hisakata hands Momoka his umbrella, sharing one with Takatsugu instead, "Don't be stubborn and use it, okay?"[lb2][/lb2]

Momoka takes it and watches as they leave. She doesn't do as told though, not when she can pretend that it's not her tears that's running down her face. When she's sure no one can see her, she allows her knees to give and lets the sobs wrack her frame. Her body shakes as she tries not to make a sound. She cries as rain falls heavy on her back and only stops when the skies calm down.[lb2][/lb2]

She takes a deep breath to even out her breathing and wipes the wetness from her face. She takes out some seeds from her pockets and presses her hands against the earth. A few seconds later, sweet peas bloom around base of the stone monument, covering it in pastel shades of pink.[lb2][/lb2]

Momoka is fifteen when she decides she'll specialize in cardiology because god forbid her heart gets broken again.

[tr=textleft][td=null,1]Earthen Barrier - Passive (3 points)[lb2][/lb2]
Earthborn with this power have mastered the ability to create walls of earth around them, making them stronger and more resilient than ever before. These walls of earth can be massive, limited only by the energy put into them.[lb2][/lb2]
Effect: Whenever the user casts an Earth damaging jutsu, they gain a barrier that blocks damage from the next attack aimed at them. Damage blocked is equal to 1/4 of the Base Damage of their attack. Barrier lasts for one attack, regardless of whether or not it is destroyed. The user may only have one such barrier up at a time. If the user already has an Earthen Barrier on the field, the 1/4 Base Damage of the new attack is instead added to the existing one. Any Earthen Barriers still on the field disperse at the end of each round.[/td][/tr]
[tr=textleft][td=null,1]Care of the Earth - Passive (3 points)[lb2][/lb2]
Due to their bond with the earth, as long as an Earthborn ninja is on the ground, they become tireless, constantly regaining strength. Their ability to absorb energy from the earth itself, their ability to do so is increased when nestled in it.[lb2][/lb2]
Effect: The user regenerates 2% of their max HP per round. This does not apply if the user is Airborne.[/td][/tr]
[tr=textleft][td=null,1]Terran - Passive (1 point x 3)[lb][/lb]
Restriction- Can be purchased three times[lb2][/lb2]
Earthborns' natural connection with the earth causes their abilities with it to be heightened and empowered. An Earthborn with this skill will find their Earth jutsu more effective than others', and themselves with an inner peace.[lb2][/lb2]
Effect: +5% Earth damage.[/td][/tr]
[tr=textleft][td=null,1]Stone Tomb - Dependent Special Move (2 points)[lb2][/lb2]
The power of earth can be used to protect or to destroy. This jutsu is the epitome of that, summoning a giant enclosure of stone to trap the enemy or protect the user--or perhaps shield a wounded ally.[lb2][/lb2]
Effect: When casting any Earth damaging jutsu, the user may choose to transform it into a stone barrier that encases one single target of their choice. This barrier has 90% of the Base Damage the attack would have in total and recieves Earth buffs. The user may also choose to use any Earth barrier this way (including Earth-infused Nature's Guard and similar) at no damage loss. This technique is cast at the same accuracy and CP cost of the original technique; barriers are cast at +0 accuracy. The enclosed target must deal damage equal to the HP of the barrier to escape and cannot target or be targeted by those on the outside until it is broken, though the barrier itself may be targeted.[/td][/tr]
[tr=textleft][td=null,1]Stone Body - Passive (1 point x 2)[lb][/lb]
Restriction- May be purchased twice[lb2][/lb2]
The superb talent the Earthborn has in shaping the Earth extends to their attempts to animate it. An Earthborn's stone and other associated creations frequently seem as though they simply will not go down.[lb2][/lb2]
Effect: The user's Earth Clone and Creation jutsu gain +10% Base HP.[/td][/tr]
[tr=textleft][td=null,1]Earth Contagion - Independent Special Move (2 points)[lb2][/lb2]
Few think of the Earth as corrosive or degrading, but they would be wrong. While overt strength is one mark of an Earthborn's power, so too is the ability to take a hit and make the opponent wish they hadn't made it, as the Earthborn can force them into leaving themselves open to attack far more easily that way. It isn't safe to take the fight to the earth itself, after all.[lb2][/lb2]
Effect: The user activates an aura around themselves for 1.5 AP and 800 CP. While active, the first attack that fully hits them or which they fully hit with every round will decrease the target's Dodge cap by 1, and increase the length of any Dodge penalties active on the victim by 5 seconds. This applies once per round per enemy, and costs 400 CP/rnd to maintain.[/td][/tr]
[tr=textleft][td=null,1]Animate Earth - Earth Ninjutsu (1 point, 1 to rank up)[lb][/lb]
Restriction- A-Rank and up[lb2][/lb2]
The connection of an Earthborn with their native element is near-legendary, and perhaps the strongest of any of the elements. This can become extremely apparent with their fine control of the ground itself, enabling them to call it to rise up and shape itself to their advantage. Facing an Earthborn on their own terrain can be daunting indeed--especially since, by definition, any terrain can become their own.[lb2][/lb2]
Rank 1: The user transforms the battlefield, taking control of the ground on it. All Earth attacks gain +10% damage and +2 accuracy. Enemy Clone and Creation jutsu spawn with 90% of their Base HP. Enemies are +10% more likely to be Suppressed, and have -2 Dodge against Called Shot chances.[lb][/lb]
Rank 2: The user transforms the battlefield, taking control of the ground on it. All Earth attacks gain +15% damage and +3 accuracy. Enemy Clone and Creation jutsu spawn with 80% of their Base HP. Enemies are +10% more likely to be Suppressed, and have -2 Dodge against Called Shot chances.[lb][/lb]
Cost: 3 AP, 3000 CP, 1500 CP/round to maintain[lb2][/lb2]
Notes:[lb][/lb]
- This is considered a Terrain jutsu.[lb][/lb]
- May be maintained for up to three rounds.[lb][/lb]
- At all ranks, other combatants must pass a Ninjutsu Check against the user at -2 in order to cast an Arena jutsu, or their own Terrain jutsu. If the opponent successfully casts their own Terrain jutsu, this one is dispelled.[/td][/tr]
