Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

After each student were given directions to a place located only in the forest of death. This place could be accessed by way of a hidden access ladder in the cellar of the Charcoal Hut guarded by two ANBU operatives that had were given the order to allow the students to climb down the latter to get to a winding staircase. But what the paper didn’t tell the academy students were that they had to avoid certain steps along the stairwell, because some of them may sound an alert within the Anbu HQ of an intruder, causing many to take their time during the descent. After about two hundred flights of stairs downwards, the would be greeted with a long dark walkway which looked more like a bridge. The students would be escorted by another ANBU operative so they didn't waste any time getting to their lesson. Walking them slowly through a very dark hallway just straight to where the staircase was. After about a 10 minutes walk they would come to a stop to a door, a dark door leading them to the lesson that these children had most likely would have waited on. The teacher inside would already know if they had been smart enough to avoid the alarms or triggered them alerting the entire base of their presence.

Maru had been standing in the dark room, standing very still like a strange doll as he waited for his students to arrive, there were only three seats with one wooden table for the souls that sought to come to his lesson. To be truthful he only expected that three Max to show up to his lesson which is one like no other, perhaps because most children tended to avoid the darkness while some would be curious as to what the dark puppet master had been offering. Maru was dressed in all black, wearing a mask that represented a crying clown that was smiling… always smiling. Maru walked to the front of the class writing his codename, pinocchio, on the black chalkboard in this secret interrogation room now converted into a classroom. Since the other room was still under repairs he had to make do with what he had.

Within the dark corner of the class, a set of blue eyes stared at the door. The being who secretly waited in the dark was mean, big, and was ready to torment some poor children. Taking a cigarette from his coat, Maru placed it between his lips then lit one up in the classroom and inhaled letting the smoke fill his hollow core before exhaling smoke through his nose. Well this should be fun.” He said to himself, a leering grin stretching across his plastic lips.

Asuka read the piece of paper given to her with instructions towards her next class, apparently it was in the forest of death. She’s never been there because, for obvious reasons, wasn’t allowed to enter. It made her excited, was the class going to be in the field? With actual physical training? She couldn’t contain her excitement and basically bunny hoped from the academy towards the forest, with the directions she was given. Asuka had to ask a few times if she was going the right way, she was never the best at following directions anyway.

Once there she stared at the big dense forest, all surrounded by a high metal fence. “Woah!” She gasped with a big smile plastered on her face, it looked huge. Trees were huge, plants were huge. Everything was huge! As if touching sacred ground Asuka slowly walked into the forest to take in every detail while she shortened the distance towards her destination. Asuka just couldn’t believe how dense the forest was, she got distracted at the beautiful sight of the sunlight penetrating the leaves, in some parts it couldn’t even penetrate at all making a gorgeous sight of shadows in between the small pockets of light.

This place was apparently dangerous but she didn’t encounter anything that could be categorized as a threat, live could be seen walking around, animals, insects using just going about their daily lives scavenging for food. A little bit boring but seeing the circle of life (most part of it anyway) going on around her just made her feel even better.

She got lost because of her day dreaming just watching the forest live but did find her way in time (she went early just in case something like this happened.). Two shinobis wearing masks appeared in front of her just as she was closing on a hut. “You shouldn’t be here.” One of them said “Let’s take you back.” As his arm stretched to grab her she took a couple of steps back. “Actually.” She took out her summon paper “I’m supposed to be here, they say my class is in there.” Asuka smiled and laughed nervously, the shinobi had a quick look at each other. “Follow me.” The other one said. The inside of the hut seemed weird, it didn’t look like someone was living here but well-kept anyway. She looked around, wondering where her teacher would be. “Down here miss.” The shinobi said, pointing towards a ladder in the cellar of the hut. It looked dark but she didn’t complain. “All right, thank you mister!” She smiled warmly.

She stepped down the ladder, why would a class be down here? What were they going to teach them? Interrogation? But she thought that didn’t happen till they graduated. She may have been wrong. The felt steps as she went down the stairs, only darkness could be seen. She summoned lighting which surrounded her hands giving off a little light so at least she could see where she was going, even then she still went slowly. The trip was long and uninteresting, after seeing the same wall for some time it gets old. Some loose steps could be seen and she tended to avoid them, mumbling a happy song to keep her occupied.

She was breathing a little bit uneven once she got to the bottom and was startled as another shinobi appeared out of nowhere. “Follow me.” He said before walking off. Asuka didn’t have to be told twice, another presence was refreshing inside this dark cold place. After another not as boring as the stairs walk, it did have different corridors and doors which she could see. They stopped at one of those doors, the shinobi simply gestured to her and then to the door, which probably meant this was the place. “Thank you mister!” Asuka smiled as the other shinobi, probably, went back to his post. With a strong deep breath she opened the door. Walking in. She saw her teacher, and it had a weird feeling. It was cold and dark. She closed the door behind her and walked over to her seat. Even though she was nervous and felt uneasy, she smiled at the new teacher and bowed with respect. “Uchiha Asuka in time sir!” She giggled before taking her seat.

A single student was not that bad, this made his job a bit easier in the end and he'll be able to have a little fun with introducing the girl to the darkness as well. Plus she just so happened to be that Uchiha nine-year-old he met on hokage rock, a smiling giggling child without enough darkness… or she didn't show enough darkness given the fact that their might be a story behind that scar on her cheek. Maru stood there.. Motionless. The dark man cladded in shadows smiled a malevolent smile, a cigarette hanging loosely from his mouth.

“Just you, eh?” The man said, he could feel that his student had been a bit uneasy given the dark atmosphere of this shadowed place. "Well this should be a little easier than I would expect. Before we get to the fun part, let's start with why the hell are you down here in the darkness. What do you hope to accomplish by being here? Once you give me what I want, then we'll unlock that hidden darkness within your tiny body. “he chuckled darkly, the door mysteriously locked behind the girl. Being in this shadowed room almost felt as if the darkness was alive in a way, like if you go any closer to the shadows it'll suck you into an endless abyss. The shadows twisted around this man who gave a sinister aura, dark eyes seemingly glaring at the little girl as he waited for her answer.

Asuka looked around and saw no one coming, a class for herself! Awesome! “Just me apparently!” She smiled. Asuka remembered this man from the Hokage rock. He seemed creepy but kinda cute at the same time, and wondered what kind of class it would be. He did talk a whole lot about darkness, but well. Class is still class and from the impression she got out of him. This was going to be interesting. She jumped once the door closed by itself, did the wind close it? Or was it this man and his Jutsus? She wondered what kind of ability was used to close the door like that, but she was getting off topic.

Asuks pondered on the questions given for a bit, they were kind of easy questions to answer but did not want to give a bad impression to the guy giving the class. “Well…” What was she doing here? Wasn’t she taking a class? “I got a paper summon at the academy for a class here, it was a long walk and the stairs were kinda creepy.” She sighed “But my lightning was able to light my way around till saw this place. So, to answer your question.” She smiled at the man “I’m here for a class and hope to accomplish greatness!” Asuka threw her fist in the air in excitement. She was here to become strong, she came to this class because it didn’t seem easy and apparently was given by someone with a big reputation among the leaf, she had never heard of him until their meeting at the Hokage rock. “So, if you don’t mind me asking” She started “What are we gonna be doing? Why is the class all the way down here instead of inside the academy? It’s kinda creepy and cold.”

Maru stood there, taking in the words of the young shinobi who sought to get stronger. Maru began to smirk a bit, moving a bit closer to the nine year old single step by single step. “A great reason, however I speak for everyone when I say that we all want to accomplish greatness. We all seek to get stronger but the question is….” Maru paused puffing smoke through his teeth, smiling a plastic smile. "Why do you want this strength?” The dark puppet master began to circle around the nine-year-old, preying upon her like a hungry shark as he continued.

“After all the reason why I want strength is to show that the darkness is a necessary evil if you seek true power, of course there might be something else that gives me my motivation but it is the darkness that is my main drive to gain power. “ Maru said, tapping his fingers onto the desk as the shadows began to make this room even darker, so dark that Maru's face was barely visible in the blackness. "So today, I've plan on showing you the reality of the path you are going….”

With that maru stopped, the whole room starting to go pitch black, the dark puppet master decided that he should actually show the Uchiha what true darkness was. To show her the harsh reality of being a ninja so that darkness could being to sprout within her heard. And he knew just how to do it. “Today I'll be teaching you about the darkside of being a shinobi, come with me….” Maru held out his hand as the inky blackness began to cover his entire body, he clearly didn't fear the darkness taking him. He welcomed it. “Don't fear the darkness, open your heart to the endless abyss…”

Asuka smiled “A great reason.” It made her happy that a teacher such as Maru recognized that she wasn’t an idiot for wanting to be strong, but his next question threw her off guard. “Why do you want that strength?” Asuka’s head dropped, to be honest… she didn’t want to answer that question. She had her reasons and usually her ambitions went without question because her up beat personality usually stopped people from taking to her seriously, this guy was different. He wanted an answer, and she wasn’t willing to give him an answer. Not to him, not to anyone. Some stuff was better left unsaid.

Thank god Maru continued to speak, great power comes with necessary evil. She didn’t entirely believe that, they’re has been examples of great shinobi that haven’t used evil tactics to gain power. Asuka believed that evil deeds did bring you to great power faster, but using another method gained the ability to gloat about the great way the user had to go to gain that power. Their adventures and struggles, their victories and defeats. In the end, great power would come. Her inner thinking was cut out once the room started to go darker, she started looking around, getting increasingly nervous as each second went on and the room grew darker. This was not going to be good, she had to stay on guard. Whether this guy was a teacher or not, she did not trust him, trust anybody for that matter. “The reality of the path I’m taking?” Asuka asked to the darkness, not even able to see his face.

She wanted so bad to activate her Sharingan, to see the outline of the teacher’s chakra… to know she wasn’t alone, but it wasn’t possible… no one knew and no one would know. She started breathing heavily but got calmer once she saw her teachers hand, his body being devoured by the darkness around her. With a sigh, Asuka stretched her arm. “The darkness doesn’t control me, I control the darkness.” She simply said to give herself courage, to take the first step into darkness willingly for the first time, to come out of this stronger and wiser, to learn and become a better person. Asuka took the teacher’s hand and stood up from her seat, no matter what came, no matter what happened she would stay true to her goals and believes.

After the young shinobi took the hand of the dark shinobi, the blackness began to swallow them both whole. It felt like both the class they were once in, and the world around them turned into a endless black abyss. Not the slightest glimmer of light, the young shinobi who seemingly was unaware of just how much darkness that this man could have produce… the beginning of sprouting the darkness within the heart of this child. The world suddenly began to come in, but it wasn't exactly the world that the child would want to see. No. Its was the world as Maru saw it.

5GAeosY.jpg

It was a misty plane, a greyish world without hardly any color but the darkest ones. The sky its was cloaked in black instead of that usual beautiful blue, a dry gust of air passed over as the world around came into view, a sight in which wasn't fit for a child's eyes. Bodies, bodies, bodies. Mountains of dead bodies as far as the eye can see, not a single face looked at peace. Not a single person on this unforgivable plane had wished to die, but the all had. None of them able to kick free of their own deaths as they suffered, writhed and parished. Close by the feet of the only man left standing in a this world filled with nothing but death and destruction was a teddy bear, stiffened with blood, in which he kneeled down to pick it up. "Take a look at this horrible place, to many people here, a fight is the only way to prove your determination. These people all sought the same strength, they had dreams of becoming the strongest shinobi of all and they all opened their hearts to darkness. “

Maru now stood, holding the bloody stuffed animal in his hand as he smiled malevolently at the girl. "They all had reasons to fight, some like me sought to prove their worth in battle, some had an obligation to protect their love ones….” Maru paused. "...but do you think that the reason to why you want that strength so bad…" a smile stretched impossibly wide upon the dark puppet master's face. "Is because you want to escape that memory of those men who attacked your village.”

From the pile of corpses, Asuka began to see movement coming from one if the piles of dead bodies. Struggling until finally rising above the other dead men and women… it was a woman, dressed in the same clothing, she was clearly dead, but somehow the woman managed to walk towards the little girl. "My… baaaby….” This walking corpse was the nine-year-old’s mother, staggering closer… the dead mother didn't want to hurt the nine-year-old she wanted to protect the girl, Maru allowed the dead mother to go close to her daughter. “So tell me, are you going to always be like this? Hiding from your problems or….” In a split second Maru summoned inky spikes to stab the dead mother who never reached her daughter in numerous places. The zombified mother twitched a few times, before perishing for good the spikes going back down letting the rotting lifeless body of the girls mother fall dead at the young shinobi’s feet. "and continue to watch people die because you couldn't protect them? “

Asuka looked around nervously as the darkness surrounded them completely, she has hoping this would all be useful to her in some way or another. Once the world began to change, she knew this wouldn’t be good.

This world seemed as all the color was sucked out of it, a lifeless world created only to give out misery. To cause anger, hate and destruction. Everything she tried to block away suddenly overwhelmed her. But that wasn’t the worst part… no… when the world came into view, bodies, this world was lifeless. Nothing moved, nothing even grunted. Asuka covered her mouth with her hands, not being able to speak. A horrible site, so much death and all must’ve been for such mundane things, stupid reasons people come up with to fight each other, to kill each other.

Unfortunately the worst part was when she realized how wrong she was. “Yui…” Asuka whispered, recognizing one of the bodies as her friend, the 17 year old girl that used to come out and play with them. “Kazuto” The nice old man the village baker, “Shinzo…” Gardener, “Reji” His uncle, came often to her house, “Shinji” Asuka’s friend, her age. They used to play together all the time. Body after body, she recognized the ones closest to her as her neighbors and friends… loved ones. Her village was here, Asuka started shedding tears, hopelessness was what got them killed, people broke, people died, she couldn’t protect them, she was powerless. She wasn’t even hearing what Maru was saying… she couldn’t listen to anything.

Movement caught her eye, after what seemed to be an eternity a hand popped out from one of the pile of corpses. Asuka was frozen as the figure suddenly rose. “Mommy…” Asuka yelled out running towards her Mother, she wasn’t helpless she would help her Mother. No one would die this time. But just as she was about to reach her, her mother got spiked… falling face first into the bodies. “No!” Asuka yelled out falling to her knees on top of the bodies. Tears streaming down her face. After a few minutes Asuka stood up, looked directly at the teacher with tears on her face. “Hide behind my problems?” She said clenching her fist. “I wish it was easier than that. I wish I could face my problems!” She summoned her keyblade, swinging it at the teacher, slopy form, not much strength easily dodgeable. “I wish I could remember my problems…” She let go of her blade and got on her knees, blank expression on her face.

The reaction that he got from the nine-year-old was priceless, she seemingly realized that this battlefield they were on with no survivors other himself and Asuka had actually been the bodies of the villagers that had been killed by those bandits. Maru knew that if he wanted to give someone the darkness that he'd have to get a bit personal. She began to shed tears, feel powerless all because she couldn't protect them. The dark puppet master looked down at the girl, listening to what she had to say before she charged in ready to attack with a strange blade of hers that looked strangely like a key. He simply allowed the girl to strike him with the blade before bursting into a flock of ravens!

The ravens flew in many different directions, over the girls head then on the other side of her Maru took form behind her, the cries of the ravens still could be heard. “You try to forget about your problems because you want to escape from them.” He took a step closer, holding his arms out. "The only person that can bring about true peace is a person with the deepest darkness, you have that potential from all this darkness you've taken so far.” As the man talked, the world around them started to become consumed in pitch blackness. As darkness falls and the earth becomes black, eerie voices called out to Asuka to join them. Inky hands wrapped themselves around the nine-year-old, Maru had already had been taken in the black abyss. “Let your anger consume you…. GIVE YOUR HEART TO THE DARKNESS!"

……

They awoken back into the dark classroom, the room was dark but wasn't as dark as that endless abyss that threatened to take them. The keyblade rested on the table, Maru looming over the other end of the table with a malevolent smile spreaded across his cheeks. “So I think you'd had enough darkness.” He turned his back to her, raising his left hand up. "Feel free to check yourself out or asked questions. But as far as I'm concerned you've passed this lesson.”

[Passed! Post and go collect rewards!]

Asuka simply stood motionless, tears streaming down her eyes, as the darkness started overtaking her. She had given up, Maru was right. She had been forgetting her problems just to stay sane, not confronting them as she should have had done. Asuka closed her eyes as everything turned black, that was what she last remembered.

[Rayne entered topic instead of Asuka]

As the room cleared and the girl was back in the real world she sighed loudly and pinched her nose. "You fucking idiot." was the first thing that came out of her mouth turning to Maru once he finished speaking. Grabbing the keyblade from the desk. "Do you know how hard it is to keep memories locked up when Idiots like you have to come and trigger them back into the surface." The keyblade dissapeared from her hand and grunted in displeasure.

"Darkness is just an excuse people like you use to justify your fucking thirst for power." She stated "Why not just say "I want power" Instead of rambling like a philosopher on too much Sake about a topic that is mostly exagerated."

"I keep Asuka safe from mental harm, keeping her happy and her bad past locked away. Of course a darkness fanboy comes along and fucks it all up! Of course that would happen." She threw her arms up in defeat. "Now I got this to fix." The girl walked off "Do this to her again and I will make sure you'll only see darkness fucking wannabe." With that said she walked out of the classroom, shouting angrily all the way.
