The 9 year old shinobi stood in the middle of the Arena, just o the edge to a middle sized body of water, today was the day she would learn one of the coolest thing she heard of. Actually walking on water, imagine how useful it would be to be able to do this without even thinking! The water would no longer be an obstacle and she wouldn't have to stop, just one fluid movement.
Asuka was given the basics for this technique. To concentrate her chakra in her feet, creating somewhat of a thin layer. Apparently this would let her walk in water but if she concentrated too much chakra it would make her fall, too little... she would fall into the water as well. Besides... how hard could it be? "Okay, let's do this!" With a deep breath she closed her eyes and imagined the chakra flowing through her body, she slowly started directing the chakra flowing down her legs to flow out of her feet. After a few minutes she could feel it on the sole of her feet. Without opening her eyes, she knew she was standing on the edge of the water, she walked forward. And she didn't stop, after a few steps she finally opened her eyes and looked down. A smile appeared on her face and her eyes went wide. She was actually walking on water! She was actually doing it! "I did i-" Asuka didn't get to finish as she got swallowed by the water.
A few seconds passed and she emerged with a pouty face, swimming back to land. She lost concentration, she couldn't believe it took so much concentration just to mantain the chakra, she had seen shinobi doing it without thinking. She wanted to do that! And she wouldn't rest until she did.
It took a few days before she could stand on water, couple more days before she could walk, almost a week before she could run. But once she got the hang of it, Asuka couldn't stop doing it. Laughing at the air, jumping from land back to water, she was happy. But once she got home Asuka sneezed, drenched out of all that cold water. Asuka took a bath, but still water walked on top of the bath tub. She just couldn't stop doing it.
